The rain kept pelting her as she finally finished her long hike to The Red Door. Night fall had set in hours before, but she wasn't about to give up her search despite the bad weather, or lack of light. The female squirrel came well prepared. She didn't get a lot of long stretches off from her work, and she wanted to make the most of what little time she had to go out on her own and explore science she didn't specialize in. This time, as it had been many others, it was archology. The Red Door was a hidden away spot in Mexico that was said to be a portal to other worlds. She knew full well it wasn't what the rumors clamed it to be, but she felt the need to see it, and examine it herself.
Sandy smiled as she finally saw it for herself by the strong flashlight, she had strapped to her chest by one of the many belts of her backpack. The lighting had started to pick up as she got closer, and caused her to want to back off and bit and finally set up camp, but she couldn't help herself and went up to touch it, in it's simi caved in doorway. She took in a deep breath of satisfaction, and awe, right before finding herself fall right through what she thought was a solid structure.
The last thing she could recall was blurred barely lit imagines as she started to fall. By the time she finally hit bottom her head was pounding and she gasped finding herself in complete darkness, as the cold chill from the nights rain set into her now battered body.
Sandy pushed herself up from the mud that she currently found herself laying in. The rain kept pouring down on her despite the fact she was simi enclosed under the mountain side she'd just fell from. She looked around barely able to see any stars in the sky as she looked up in an effort to find some sense of direction. She struggled and crawled through mud for some time before she finally felt her arms giving out and just let herself fall back into the mud under her. After a moment of lying motionless she yelped as she found herself being picked up by the small of her neck, painfully, as a male voice yelled at her. "Why are you in my territory?!" She glances towards the angry voice, as she was barely able to take in the image of the male that now held her in his grip ... he was just a black and red blur to her for some time. Sandy attempted to speak, but started to find herself lose consciousness before able to fully do so.
"He... ph..." Was all that left her lips before she blacked out.
Sandy woke up, very sore, and stagged of breath. For a moment she was scared she'd broke her ribs, but finally found comfort in the fact she was breathing fine... however, uneasy over took her fast as she noticed she was in a cave-type-dwelling. A fire nearby caused shadows of her, and another, to dance on the wall as she listened to the storm rage on outside.
"Before you think of jumping up and attacking me you need to know I could overtake you in only a moment." The low male voice sighed behind her. "You are lucky I didn't kill you out right for being in my territory. But... I've never cared for killing helpless women."
Sandy couldn't help herself as she let, her nature run wild. "You're a fool thinking I'm some helpless woman." Sandy than pushed herself up forcefully as she gripped onto her male company as they both started to tumbled until they came to a stop with Sandy on top the mostly black hedgehog. " I..." She lost her train of thought as she looked down at the handsome man under her. "Uh..." She finally found herself but not soon enough as the man under her aggressively took hold of her and found his way on top of her.
"Why are you here, girl?" He growled.
"I came ta see The Red Door for myself and ended up getting lost in the storm after tumbling down part of the mountain." she couldn't help but feel bad for upsetting the local man. She was thankful he had bothered to stop and help her, and even more grateful that he spoke English this far south, as her Spanish was very rusty. "I am sorry I came across yer property. I had no idea anyone even lived out in these parts! I just wanted ta set up camp looked at The Door a little and then head back ta find my Jeep and leave."
"Find your what?" The hedgehog asked again.
"My vehicle..." Sandy now looked at him confused as rain continued to cover both their faces.
"I don't understand your accent." Shadow finally looked away annoyed as he finally pushed himself off of her before grabbing her arm and dragging her behind him. "You can stay at my cave tonight, as the Gods are angry, but come tomorrow you need to go back to your kind."
Sandy half laughed as the local man offered her shelter for the night. "Gladly." She responded.
