Jaune stared at the computer screen, his lip trembling and tears building in the corners of his eyes. He couldn't believe it. He had been waiting for weeks in anticipation, he had the webpage bookmarked and everything. And then the internet gave out the very morning he needed it to work.

Ever since his treasured Pumpkin Pete hoodie had been amongst the many thousands of things lost in the destruction of Atlas, Jaune had occasionally peeked around to see if there was ever a chance of securing himself a new one. Then suddenly, one day a few weeks ago, the company announced they were doing a limited run of new hoodies, and even in a variety of colours! Then, on the very morning sales were due to begin, the internet in the apartment died. Jaune had then frantically tried to order over his scroll, which had been out of juice (curse his forgetfulness!) and then he'd run over to knock on the doors of several of the neighbours, all but one of whom had been out (and the one who was in very firmly told him to get lost).

Then finally, after half-an-hour, the internet magically came back on, and Jaune scrambled back to the computer to put in an order, only to be met with the tragic 'out of stock' notification. Frantic refreshing failed to produce any results, and he was forced to admit defeat. His only other reaction was to send several crying emojis and an explanation to Ruby, who had been away for a week on a team mission in Mistral and was due back later that night.

As Jaune slumped away from the computer with a depressed sigh to start preparing dinner, his scroll pinged with a reply from Ruby.

Awww im so sorry! I know how much u wanted that! :( and im not gonna be back til tomorrow something came up plz enjoy dinner without me!

Luv u xxx

Though Jaune's spirits lifted slightly at getting a comforting text from his girlfriend, his unhappiness returned full force when he realised she wasn't going to be back that night. It seemed he would have to drown his sorrows on his own that evening. After a lonely and unfulfilling dinner, Jaune settled himself down onto the couch with one of his 'special occasion' bottles of beer. As he watched some random gibberish on the TV, time faded into a blur until he finally slipped into an uncomfortable slumber some time after midnight.

The next morning, Jaune was stirred from sleep by the sound of keys jangling and the apartment door opening. As he stretched and rubbed his neck, cricked from spending a night asleep on the couch, he heard the cheery voice of his girlfriend shout out, "Helloooo, I'm home!" He couldn't help but smile fondly. Ruby could always cheer him up no matter how depressing a situation was.

As Jaune sat himself up, she entered the living room, her face creasing into a disapproving expression as she saw him. "Did you sleep on the couch, again?" Jaune had a habit of falling asleep there when he was home alone.

"Yeah, you woke me up! Couldn't you have been a little quieter?"

"Jaune, it's ten minutes to noon!" Ruby exclaimed, as she dumped her pack on the floor.

"What can I say?" Jaune smiled, as he stood up and walked over to embrace his girlfriend. "My sleep pattern is a mess without you here."

Ruby giggled as she reciprocated the hug, the pair content to simply bask in each-other's presence. After a few minutes, Ruby eventually asked, "You alright?"

He sighed. "Yeah, I guess. I'm still a bit disappointed that I missed out on the hoodie, but there's not much I can do about it. I dunno if they'll do a run like that ever again."

Ruby gave a little extra squeeze, then stepped away. "Jaune, close your eyes and put your arms out," she said.

"Huh?"

"Just do it, please."

"Okay." Jaune shrugged, complying with Ruby's request. He assumed she was going to give him a cheeky little kiss or something while his eyes were closed, but instead he heard her start rifling through her pack. After a few seconds, he could hear something being pulled from it, and a second after that, a large, soft piece of fabric was placed into his outstretched arms.

"Open your eyes Jaune."

Once again Jaune complied, and was met with a large heap of bright yellow fabric piled in his arms. Jaune curiously unfurled it, and was shocked to discover it was a hoodie. "Nooooo..." he said, almost not daring to believe what he could see. On the chest, was the familiar print of a cute little bunny. "Ruby! What…how..." he trailed off, and instead moved to crush Ruby into another tight hug. "Ruby, I...thank you so much!"

"You're welcome, Jaune."

"But...how?! They sold out online within half an hour!"

"You may not believe it, but when you texted me last night, I was just passing a shop in Mistral that was going to start selling them the next morning. That's why I'm home late."

"Wait, you stood outside a shop all night...for me?!"

"Well, yeah, you seemed so sad from that text. People were already lining up when I was passing, so I figured since you couldn't do it online I had to make the call there and then so I had any chance of getting them."

"Wow, talk about miracles of timing," Jaune said with a chuckle, then suddenly realised something about what Ruby just said. "Wait a sec, what do you mean, them?!"

Ruby stepped away from Jaune and gave a small, slightly embarrassed smile, as she unzipped her jacket, revealing that she herself was wearing her own Pumpkin Pete hoodie, complete in red to match her own colour scheme. "I thought, you know, since we're a couple and all, it might be fun to have matching hoodies!"

Jaune stared for a moment. This girl, this crazy, wonderful, brilliant girl...stood outside a gift shop all night to get the pair of them matching hoodies. With a laugh, grabbed Ruby in a hug again, this time picking her up and spinning her around. Ruby joined with the laughter, and wrapped her legs around Jaune's back to brace herself.

When Jaune felt himself becoming dizzy, he brought the spinny hug to a stop, looking right into his girlfriend's shining silver eyes with as much love as he could muster. "Ruby, Gods...I love you so much."

Ruby returned the look with her own soft smile. "I love you too, Jaune," she said as the two leaned their heads forward, capturing each-other's lips in a quick, but passionate kiss.

"Sooo, shall we go do something?" asked Ruby, as her boyfriend settled her back onto the floor.

"I'm gonna guess you're thinking the same as me and you wanna go grab some lunch out in our new threads?" Jaune said as he pulled on his new hoodie. Naturally, it fit him perfectly.

"Oh no, everyone's gonna think we're a couple because we're wearing matching hoodies!" Ruby said dramatically.

"What a shame, people are gonna know I'm in love with the most beautiful girl on Remnant," Jaune responded in turn, getting a blush from Ruby.

"Jauuunneee…" Ruby whined, ducking her head inside her hoodie, as Jaune grabbed his wallet from the side.

"My treat? You did pay for these, after all."

"Jaune, we literally share a bank account," Ruby said, reaching out to take her boyfriend's hand.

"Could you at least try to appreciate my romantic gestures!" he groaned, nonetheless taking his partner's hand with his own. With a shared giggle, the pair headed out, already starting to bicker over where to go for lunch.

By some accounts, miracles are a childish idea that never happen in the real world, but sometimes, Jaune thought, the most random of coincidences can create a seemingly tiny and insignificant miracle that means the world to the love between two people.
