Smile again

Hello and welcome everyone to a new one-shot!

Now, before we begin, this won't be just another one-shot; nope, I found a list with 50 kisses prompts on tumblr and, after asking permission from the author, I decided to make 50 TanKana kisses!

I'm gonna make so much food, hahaha.

I will leave a link to the list at the summary so go check it out if you're interested.

With all that said, I leave you with the first one-shot!

Disclaimer: I don't own Kimetsu no Yaiba.

"Hey, Kanao…" Aoi called out, looking worried.

"Yes?" The aforementioned said.

"Is… is something wrong with Tanjiro-san?"

"Eh? What do you mean?" Kanao asked, now matching her expression.

"He just… looks kind of down." She answered with a frown. "He isn't acting any different, at least as far as I can tell, but when we were eating lunch together before the bell rang, he had this… look; it was only there for a moment so I thought maybe I imagined it but…"

Kanao internally panicked at Aoi's words and tried to keep her expression neutral.

"You know something." This time, it wasn't a question. "It's written all over your face."

The pink eyed-girl flinched and glanced away.

"I know something but… he asked me not to tell anyone yet." She said while looking down. "I'm sorry."

"No, don't be, if he asked you to keep quiet then I won't ask." Aoi quickly assured her before placing a hand on her shoulder. "Just… whatever it is, you might want to check on him."

"I already planned to." Kanao said with a small smile. "Thank you."

"Don't mention it." She smiled back.

"Tanjiro!"

The red haired teen stopped at the gate when he heard his name and turned around.

"Kanao." He smiled as he saw her approach. "Is everything okay?" The Kamado asked when she was right in front of him.

"…I wanted to ask you that."

"Ah…" His smile faltered slightly. "Yes, everything is good."

"Tanjiro…" She looked at him worriedly.

"Hm? Ah… no, I mean it." He quickly assured her. "I got a call just before leaving school; my dad's operation was successful."

"Really?!" Her eyes widened.

"Really." Tanjiro nodded. "I was going to go see him at the hospital with everyone."

"Ah, then…" She was about ask if she can accompany him but stopped. 'I shouldn't intrude.'

"Kanao?"

"No, never mind." She shook her head and smiled. "I'm really happy that he is alright; please tell him I wish he recovers soon."

"I will." He nodded. "Thank you."

Not wanting to keep him there, she nodded and started to walk past him.

"Hm?"

Before she could, Tanjiro grabbed her hand.

"Could you come with me… please?" The Kamado asked without looking at her.

"…of course." Kanao squeezed his hand slightly in reassurance.

The trip to the hospital was quiet and Kanao waited outside Tanjuro's room while the Kamado family was inside. She had greeted him, of course, and wanted to be there for Tanjiro but she also felt like she shouldn't intrude on their moment.

While she was thinking idly, the door opened and Tanjiro walked out.

"Everything alright?"

"Yes, I'm just going to buy some drinks for everyone." He answered. "Do you want something?"

"I'm not sure… I'll accompany you and see what they have; I'll help you carry them too."

"Thank you."

A short walk to the end of the hallway and they arrived at the vending machines.

"Tanjiro."

"Ye-?!" Suddenly, Kanao hugged him, her face hidden from him in his shoulder.

"Erm, Kanao?"

"It's okay." She said softly. "I… I'm not good at telling how others feel but… I know your expression when you're happy… and you're forcing it right now." Tanjiro flinched in the embrace.

"I'm really bad at lying, huh?" Tanjiro chuckled sardonically before hugging her back. "I really am okay just… calming down." He confessed. "I'm sorry you were with us when dad collapsed."

"Don't be." Kanao answered, tightening the hug. "I'm glad I could be there for you."

"…thank you."

.

"…I should get back, my siblings will wonder where I am otherwise." Tanjiro said as he slowly moved back from the hug.

"Alright… hm."

"What is it?"

Kanao's face flushed red before she moved forward and lightly kissed Tanjiro on the cheek.

"Eh, Kanao?" The red haired teen's face soon matched hers but Kanao simply kissed his other cheek.

Then his forehead, then the tip of his nose, then his cheek again and repeated the process; her light kisses tickling the Kamado.

"Hehe, what are you doing?" He asked with a chuckle.

"Trying to get you to smile again." She answered. "If I could tell something was wrong, your family definitely did." Kanao smiled softly and once again kissed his cheek.

Before she could begin her 'attack' again, Tanjiro kissed her cheek and brought her closer.

"Thank you."

"Hehe, it feels like you've said that a lot today."

"You keep doing things to deserve it." He answered happily. "…can I ask for one more?"

Kanao smiled softly and gently brought her lips to his forehead.

"…now you're smiling."

Tanjiro let out a laugh before letting go of her and buying the drinks.

"Here, for you." He said as he offered her one. "And… do you want to come back with me?"

"…won't I be intruding?" She asked cautiously.

"Not at all." Tanjiro said with a large, true, smile.

"Then I'd be happy to."

And done!

Like I said before, this is just the first in a series of one-shots that I will make with that list; it will take time but I want to finish them all!

I hope you enjoyed, don't forget to leave a comment~

Until next time!
