Prologue

There are a set of rules to follow. A list of rules written by word of mouth many years ago proclaiming our positions in the world. What they state is a simple yet harsh line of regulations, of expectations from every sex of our race. The sub-genders of a person that decide their place in life.

Alphas are the base of all hierarchies meant to rule and lead their civilizations. As they are larger, stronger, and smarter than the average man. Their baser instinct screams for them to hold power. Some say they are natural-born leaders, others say they simply have the will. What cannot be disregarded is that time and time again and alpha will find themselves at the top of the pack, and with this they will lead with solid resolution.

Betas are meant to stand in the middle, doing any and all work leftover. With no base instinct, they have no reason to agree or disagree. No real sway in the world but also untouched. Betas' are the largest proportion of people and are the main organism of civilization. Looking up to their leaders in awe and easily following with sheer loyalty. Since they have no need to grapple power and no natural affinity to help acquire said power they tend to accept their place in life though many show a distinct apprehension for their dull solidarity.

Then there are Omegas, the weakest of the three. Made simply for maternity. Small and feminine their baser instincts lead them to love and groom. Rare beauties in a world of dull betas and brazen alphas. To own an omega is to have a trophy up on a pedestal, meant to show off to all else. To say 'look here, I am better for I can claim an omega and you cannot.'

An omega's family is a joy to the village, bearer of the town's treasure. And guardians till the time comes for the little one to pack up and move away with their alpha. A handsome pay as thanks given to the family as both happily give their farewells.

These are the rules of civilizations. Yet the story is slightly different for the shinobi world. One simple rule changed to fit the world of fighting and death.

Omega's cannot thrive in a shinobi's world.

They are not physically and mentally set to do so. And so when an omega is born into the said world they are quickly nullified or sold out. Getting rid of any crutch they may create for the family they were born within.

To bear an omega in a shinobi family is to bring weakness to your family. They are the achilles heel of an otherwise strong and demanding clan. As a shinobi that cannot fight will only cause trouble when war reaches your home. So it is a silent agreement within clans to simply kill the child at birth to stop any trouble before it happens.

Yet when Tajima holds his newest and youngest child's tiny body, wailing from its form replacing his wife's last breath. He can tell right away what has been born into his family, exactly what little Izuna would soon flourish to be. Yet his kunai shakes in his hand when those beady black eyes look up to him in wonder.

Then those pudgy hands reach out for his embrace and he remembers months prior when he and his pregnant wife spoke to the clans medic. The old woman had calmly stated the birth would end in loss and Tajima's loving wife had smiled and simply accepted the repercussions. Instead begging Tajima to love their son like any of their other children. To not blame the tiny Uchiha for his wife's death and instead see the blessing that is their child. Little Izuna she had named him with a fond rub of her belly and a gleam in her eye.

He's promised then and there to cherish the child in honor of her.

The world is cruel though, as a clan head Tajima knows this best. He's seen close comrades fall, both determined beta's and powerful alphas. He knows that even the hardiest of men crumble in battle, physically and mentally. A child of this demeanor has no chance. Not within the Uchiha clan or any clan really.

Especially not when they are at war. The child would end up sold as fodder for gear and weapons, a lovely trophy for a rich merchant to put his greasy hands on. A sad and miserable life based on what Tajima has heard. Alpha's never treated shinobi-born omega's well. Always pushing fear before love and care. Fear of what the child could become, fear of blood soaked hands that an innocent untrained child could never hold. Yet the fear shinobi's battles have worn onto civilians nearby is too great and even the innocent are blamed. Hated for something they have yet to even do.

Little Izuna also comes from the strongest line of Uchiha, he risks having Sharingan. For blood red eyes to one day blossom from the dark and torment those nearby. A risk no intelligent alpha wishes to risk when out looking for a wife, and thus being a weapon for their enemy to test on and abuse. To be tied down and tortured as they traverse the intricacies of the Uchiha sharingan.

Death really is the little child's only option for peace.

Had war not been at their very steps maybe Tajima could indulge his wife's last wish. He could love his children equally for her and train them to be their finest selves. Izuna wouldn't be able to fight. Mentally it would hurt him to even bring a sword up to an enemy, much less his family in practice. Physically he would be weaker than the smallest beta.

Would he even equal a runt beta in size? Even the largest omega is quite puny. Small can work though, Tajima has seen smaller betas weave around their enemy with ease. They deflect with acrobatics, unlike their larger counterparts. He can train that, can teach one how to fight those bigger and stronger. The problem lies in the other's willingness to fight. Would a child meant to care and love even survive in a world of agony and death? Would he be willing to pick up a blade and hurt another if it meant protecting those he loves.

Tajima doubts it. He should do the right thing and ease the child's pain. End this before it really starts before his child can truly articulate his meaning in the world. For both his and the child's sake. Instead, Tajima places the kunai down cradling the kid with a sigh and leaving the now quiet room. A midwife sits waiting on the other side, ready to take the child from Tajima's hold.

She had left to politely give the man space. Now she sits with a frown and shaking hands, ready to take what she believes is a dead child. "I'll let the elders know it was a stillborn" she murmurs, her eyes trained downward. Not willing to see what she believes is fact.

Tajima pauses at her form in thought. Both had been inside the room during the birth and know the truth. For a second he thinks to end her life for the sake of his sons only to shake his head in disagreement."Tell them Izuna Uchiha was born healthy, though sadly he is not an alpha like the others. I expect him to be just as talented as his brothers. " Tajima notes, watching the women's brow furl before understanding dawns. She nods with sudden vigor before standing from her post.

"Very well, I will let them know." Tajima hums in agreeance as he watches her walk off. He would be placing a lot of faith upon the women, but one death in the clan seems like more than enough for the day. With the vigor the women had accepted his words he trusts she would not tell the truth and instead keep to his vague wording. The elders can decide what to make of it in their own time. With that decided, he walks his youngest son out of the stuffy house and out by the koi pond. There he sits and stares out into the garden with a quiet sigh.

"There's no going back now" Tajima nods solemnly as he rocks the child to sleep under gentle bird chirps. Tajima doubts what he's doing is right, what he's about to force his child to strive through. Yet his tired heart is not ready to kill his own son. Even when he knows it is for the best.

Maybe the elders will later chastise him for his decision. But that is for later. For now, Tajima just wants to enjoy the sun's rays with his son. Later, far down the road, when things are already far into progress will he question his treatment of his sweetest child. Only then will he stop to listen to the elder's complaints. For now, Tajima takes one out of his wife's book and enjoys the moment.

Izuna sneezes from his grasp and Tajima chuckles fondly down at his child. "Sweet Izuna, you have quite the life ahead of you, my only beta child."

I noticed there wasn't a whole lot of Izuna love in the fanfiction world. Or at least not a whole lot of 'this boy needs a harem he so cute' type of stories. Much less writing with Izuna as an omega. So, um, I did a thing.

This of course is only a prologue so it's quite short but I have an idea where I wanna go with this and am excited to see the story grow! No promises on normal updates though...i'm not good at that.
