-VELOX THE DRAGON KNIGHT
Cool fall breezes were blowing across the lush green hills, ruffling the Navy-blue hair of a teenager. His Auburn eyes were fixated on the horizon, where the sun was about to set behind the steep hills. He closed his Auburn orbs and deeply breathed the fresh air of the greenery, then opening his eyes again, staring at the sun as if demanding an answer from its dimmed orange rays.
Hearing the chirping sound of a gaggle of geese who were returning home after the tiring day, he directed his gaze to the sky. Anxiety was clearly portrayed on his tensed face as he rested his back on the green grass, trying to ease up his aching muscles. Taking one last look at the sky, he took in all the shades of light blue from the far horizon, to slight purple, then pink and then orange near the setting sun.
Just as he was admiring the beauty of the sky, another beauty, which seemed more lively and important to him, covered the sky and came face to face with him. It was a human face, which was a lot more beautiful than the sky for the blunette, with glimmering Ruby-orbs and shiny brown hair and the perfect complexion of skin with a bright smile.
As realization dawned upon him, Tyson saw that it was his best friend, more like his lifeline, whose face was just three inches away from his as her mischief-hidden Ruby-orbs stared happily in his nervous Auburn ones. Tyson jolted up from his sleeping position and sat on the ground in surprise, his heart beating fast on noticing the proximity they had between their faces.
He could feel her stand up from behind and come to sit near him, as he turned his face to the other side in order to hide the faint blush that had spread across his cheeks. His heart started beating faster when he sensed her sitting close to him, well really close with a distance of a hand span only.
'Calm down.' He thought looking at the ground, 'It's just normal, as always. Don't let her know that I am getting embarrassed by such proximity. Oh gosh, why doesn't Hilary know about the strong impact she has on me?'
"Hey Tysie?!" Hilary exclaimed happily, looking at the blunette who's face was in the other direction. Gulping nervously and finally getting rid of the blush, Tyson finally turned his face towards his best friend, as their eyes met and he smiled back lowly.
Looking into his Auburn-orbs, Hilary was sure that he wasn't in a very good mood before she approached. Her happy expression changed into one of concern on witnessing the anxiety which Tyson was trying to hide, but was failing as usual.
"Hey Ty-Kun?" She asked innocently with concern, "You okay?"
"Y-Yeah, I'm fine." Tyson said breaking the eye contact and looking at the setting sun. Hilary wasn't satisfied by his answer but thought to let the matter slip off, as she too directed her gaze to the sun.
"You know what?" Hilary asked enthusiastically, looking at his serious face again. He broke his gaze from the sun and looked into her glimmering Ruby-orbs, which looked even more beautiful when the sun rays were lighting her face up.
"Yeah?" He asked dryly.
"Today, we all girls have prepared apple pies!" She exclaimed happily, "You love them, don't you?"
She happily looked at him, waiting for her answer, but he was lost in staring into her Ruby eyes, a thing she wasn't aware of, as always. Tyson's face was all tired up and depressed, as if something was bothering him a lot, but Hilary wasn't able to guess the cause of his sadness.
"Hey Tys?" Hilary said shaking him by his shoulder. Tyson came out of his daydreaming as he finally looked at her in a conscious state. Seeing her concerned expression, he plastered up fake happiness and smiled edgily.
"Oh yeah, right. I love apple pies." He said trying to sound happy, but this wasn't working anymore. Hilary looked into his Auburn-orbs with concern, she seriously knewsomething really was wrong.
Finally deciding to ask him to spill the truth, Hilary brushed her fingers against his cheek, as a tint of pink spread there, remaining unnoticed by the brunette as always. "Tyson, I know something is bothering you. Why don't you just share your concern with me? Maybe I could help you." She softly said as Tyson tilted his face to the ground.
"I-It's just…" Tyson tried to explain. Taking a deep breath in, he turned his gaze towards the setting sun again, finally ready to explain everything. "Hils, it's about the Justice Five Tournament."
He could feel Hilary shift even more close to him as their shoulders touched. He knew, without looking at her, that she was trying to express her curiosity by this. Gulping, he pulled out his Beyblade from his pocket and showed it to her.
"Dragoon Galaxy Metal Storm. This is what's worrying me." He whispered slowly as Hilary took the Blade from his hands, and prodded it with her petite fingers.
"This?" Hilary asked curiously looking at the beyblade, "But the first time Kenny introduced it to you, you said that this is going to be Boris' nightmare." She said innocently, finally looking at him as their eyes met again.
"You're right, Hils." Tyson said placing a lock of hair behind her ear as she blushed lightly. "But, the main concern is that if we won't be able to control the hard metal system, then I don't know about Boris' nightmare, but this will surely turn out to be our nightmare."
Hilary gasped, knowing what he meant exactly. "But…You can surely master it, Tys. I know that." She said innocently, trying to be as positive as she could be.
"It's not that easy Hils," Tyson said dryly, looking deeper into her Rubies, "Days are passing by. If we won't be able to master it before the tournament, then not only will it result in our defeat and the destroying of the future of Beyblading, but could also affect our health and possibly can even make it life threatening for us-"
Before he could finish, he was silenced by Hilary's hand covering his mouth. He came to know why she stopped him from completing when a few tears slid down her Ruby-orbs. She let go of him and covered her face in her palms, weeping all her fear out.
Tyson stared at her dumbfounded. He wasn't able to understand. Why was she crying? Only one point seemed reasonable to him. She was afraid of the Justice Five Tournament. Why? Maybe because she didn't want to see the team get hurt? But they had fought many battles, didn't she know that the chances of severe injuries were very low? But, for a moment, Tyson forgot that it's BEGA they are talking about. Many great bladers like Tala were already defeated by them, that too when Tala got hospitalized after battling.
"Hils?" Tyson asked softly, staring at the brunette with worrisome eyes. Drawing her legs to her chest, she kept her face on her knees and sobbed, wrapping her arms around her legs.
Tyson didn't understand what he should do. It was the first time he had seen Hilary cry, that too in front of him, crying because of him, crying for him. Gulping, he spoke up again, "Himmy? What's wrong?"
Hilary gasped slowly, and Tyson knew why. It was a little too odd for him to call her 'Himmy'. Truly, he never did call her with that name. It was either 'Hils' or 'Hil', for which only he was permitted. Taking in a sharp breath, Tyson asked again, in the softest way he could muster up, "Himmy? Answer me…"
Hilary finally let go of her legs and looked at him, Rubies glimmering with tears which were shining in the dimmed sunlight. Sniffing a bit, she wiped away her tears, just as new ones formed.
"Hils…" Tyson cupped her face with his hands, as a pink tint occupied her cheeks. Wiping away her tears from his thumbs, he spoke softly, "Why're you crying?"
"I-I…" Staring deep into his loyal Auburns, Hilary whispered, "I don't want to see you get hurt, Tys… It isn't like I doubt your abilities, I know you can surely control the hard metal system. But i-it's just that-"
"Nothing would happen to me, Hils." Leaning in to press his forehead against hers, Tyson whispered slowly with eyes closed. Hilary flinched a bit but relaxed soon, hanging her hands around his neck as she entangled her petite fingers in his lush navy locks. Closing her eyes, she felt a chill down her spine as Tyson's hands slip down from her cheeks and to her waist, pulling her closer.
"Can't believe," Tyson began smiling slowly with eyes closed, as Hilary opened her eyes and stared at his face from such an intimate angle, heat rising to her cheeks as she wished Tyson wouldn't notice it.
", that you actually care for me." Tyson completed, as Hilary gasped in surprise.
"What do you mean?" Hilary said getting out from their embrace as Tyson stared at her curiously, "Of course I care for you."
"You…do?" Tyson asked furrowing his brows as Hilary nodded proudly.
"Why not? We're friends since I was five, it's obvious that I care for ya." Hilary smiled slowly, admiring the surprise on Tyson's face.
"Thanks…" Smiling softly, Tyson diverted his gaze towards the horizon, where the sun had set a long ago. Bright stars were now visible in the sky, seeming jealous at the strong bond between the two best friends.
Just as he was admiring the green valley, he felt a weight on his shoulder. Flinching a little, a chill went down his spine as he caught a glimpse of the brunette's head peacefully resting on his shoulder. His heart started beating fast all of a sudden, as his cheeks turned red. What should he do now?
'Calm down, Tyson.' Taking a deep breath, he assured himself. 'Just think properly. What should I respond with? Should I keep my palm on her hand? Or should I wrap my arm around her shoulder? Or maybe lay my head upon hers? I hope she wouldn't freak out if I do something wrong.'
Gulping, he trailed his arm around her back and rested it on her shoulder, pulling her towards himself. Tightly shutting his eyes, he prayed for that she wouldn't piss off. But what happened wasn't actually expected. Hilary shifted herself closer to him, wrapping both her arms around his torso.
An unknown tingling feeling spread across his limbs as his body relaxed in her warm embrace. Rolling his eyes backwards, he cherished the close warm inviting feeling in the cold evening. As the moon shone brightly upon them, it envied the warmth, shivering a little in the cold breezes.
"Tysie?" Hilary asked, feeling his heart rate as her head was placed near his chest.
"Yeah?" Tyson cooed looking at her partial face.
"Do you have any plan regarding the tournament?" She asked curiously, removing her hands from his body, as she glanced at his face, still resting on his shoulder. For an unknown reason, Tyson felt a sort of emptiness as she removed her hands from their place.
Still, shoving the feeling away and prodding his chin with the index finger of his free hand, he replied more as a thought than an assertion, "I still don't know. Legends don't make plans in advance, Hils, they form plans on their way!" Grinning happily at the end, Tyson looked at Hilary for her response on his brilliant thought.
But Hilary's expression wasn't what he had wanted. Sighing tiredly, Hilary looked down and positioned her head comfortably on his shoulder again, "That's boring." She said with a pitiful expression.
"What?!" Tyson asked a little annoyed, but calmed down on hearing Hilary's muffled chuckle, knowing that she was joking.
"Hey Himmy?" Tyson whispered, staring at the shining moon in the dark sky. Hilary hummed slowly, signaling that she was listening, although trying to hide the giddiness which occupied her on hearing the new nick name Tyson had just spoke a little ago. She didn't know why, but this name gave her an unknown inviting feeling which 'Hils' didn't give.
"Shouldn't we head back? The others might be waiting." Tyson said slowly. When not receiving any reply, he looked down at the brunette, placing a finger under her chin as he lifted her face up.
The supposed to be open cheerful Rubies were calmly resting under her closed eyelashes. Her fair skin, which brightened up under the moon's glow, was decorated with a small peaceful smile as she drowned into dreamland.
"She slept?" Tyson asked himself in surprise. A small smile plastered his face as Hilary shifted closer to him in her sleep. Brushing his fingers against her cheek, Tyson stared at her angelic face in awe.
The moon envied all of this. The angelic contentment on Hilary's face as Tyson caressed her face, the happiness and awe on Tyson's face as he adored her features, the cool breezes blowing across their faces, as if blessing their eternal bond, the trees bowing down to the scene in front of them. All this was being envied as the moon kept on shining upon the teenagers.
"Himmy…." Tyson whispered resting his forehead upon hers, "Guess you should have been awake to hear this from me."
The moon held it's breath, preparing itself to hear the divine words which will come out of the blunette's mouth, once out, those words will never change their meaning, they will just be repeated by the Dragoon-wielder, spreading their true essence everywhere.
"I love you, Hilary" Thus, the moon envied them.
…
Thus, the moon actually envied our Tyson and Hilary! Happy ending! Just a small one-shot but I've wanted to write it since forever!
Review your heart out!
Lots of love to everyone who reads it!
