Chapter 1

Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters that I am writing about they belong to JK Rowling.

Life for Ronald Weasley was as anyone from the outside viewing in on his big family would suspect, not special, not special at all. Did that bother Ron? Not in the slightest, he loved his family and he knew they loved him, even if he felt like the least loved time and time again. He would never mention his insecurities of being the least loved because he didn't want to bother his family with his problems and on top of that it wasn't like his family didn't love him, it's just sometimes he felt like they would shrug him off for another member of their family and he had never been chosen first or best for anything within his family. The only member of his family who seemed to genuinely like spending time with him, and on multiple occasions sought out even though others were within the house was Ginny. Spending time with Ginny was the highlight of most of his days, since they were basically the same age they got along really well and they would do almost everything together.

From playing tag to chores to sneaking out on brooms during late nights, they did it all together, that's why when it was two weeks till he had to go to Hogwarts Ginny was with him during all his free time and it didn't bother him one bit. When Ginny came to his room that night to go out on brooms, he was surprised when she ran to hug him tightly and broke down crying.

"Gin, are you okay? What's wrong?" he asked rather quickly as he was confused, he didn't know why she was crying, and if she was crying because someone made her cry, he would make them pay. Ginny would hardly cry so when she did it was because something really bad had happened. So as he looked down at his sister who was hugging him tightly and crying into his chest, her eyes red and puffy, and her hair disheveled and all over the place he was quite worried.

"W-w-what do y-you mean-(sniff*)-your g-going away soon" she cried, not happy about it at all, and that's when it all came crashing down on him and he wanted to facepalm hard. 'How is it possible for someone to be this stupid?' he thought. She was gonna be all alone and we were each other's best friends, it was gonna be the longest time away from each other they would have experienced yet. He wrapped his arms around Ginny and hugged her tightly, just as tight as she was hugging him. He lowered his voice and whispered in her ear

"It's gonna be okay Gin, we still have two weeks right?"

Ginny nodded against his chest, he pulled away from her slightly and wiped the tears from her eyes " so let us make those days count. Right? Gin because if we just mope around about me leaving we're not gonna have any fun together, you wanna have fun right?"

She nodded again and gave him a soft smile he grinned back at her "the night before I go we can cry and do the mopey stuff, deal?"

Ginny nodded again taking her arms off Ron and wiping her eyes "deal"

Ron smiled and grabbed her hand to go outside to get the brooms. "Now are you ready to be outflown by your favorite brother?" he said grinning like a buffoon.

She laughed then grinned slyly "First of all I have no idea where you got the idea that you were my favorite brother and second you couldn't out fly me if I was blindfolded with a hand-tied behind my back".

He snorted "all right let us see shall we" They both got on a broom and kicked off.

The next two weeks went by pretty quickly, but it was a blast Ron and Ginny were having the best times of their lives, and that only made it worse when the day before he had to go to King's cross arrived. So here he was in his room with a sleeping Ginny on top of him. She had come in earlier and they had talked about everything Ron had promised to send a letter every week and to tell her all about Hogwarts, he also promised her he would never find a better friend than her and she would always be his best friend "forever and forever" he whispered remembering what he had told her as he looked down at his sister who was curled up into almost a ball on top of him in his bed. She had red puffy eyes and messy hair. He wouldn't say it out loud but it made him happy to see her so untidy and like she was because she was like that over him, and yeah he shouldn't feel this way but when he grew up constantly feeling least-loved having someone cry this much over not being able to see him in a long time made his heart swell with joy, Ginny had never cried like this with the others and that made it that much better in his eyes. He was still upset about seeing her that way though, he didn't like seeing Ginny sad and this was the worst he has ever seen her. With that last thought, he drifted off to sleep.

"RONALD BILLIUS WEASLEY!" Ron shot up and checked the time "shit" he mumbled. "IF YOU DON'T GET DOWN HERE NOW YOU ARE GOING TO WISH YOU WERE NEVER BORN" Ron quickly jumped into the clothes he laid out the previous night and grabbed his trunk, he was thanking God that he listened to his mother to pack the day before, he was incredibly late and they had to leave now. He grabbed Scabbers, who was silently sleeping in his cage, and booked it down the stairs.

"Sorry mum, I slept in on accident, I have everything though I'm ready to go" She eyed his trunk and the cage Scabbers was in and then nodded, and then they were off. They all packed themselves inside the Ford Anglia and then they were on their way to Kings Cross Station. They all hurried their way towards the gate and that is where they met a kid that looked around Ron's age wearing oversized clothes, round glasses, and messy hair. His mom helped him through the barrier to 9 ¾ and then Ron Followed. He heard Fred and George muttering something about seeing Harry Potter, which was really exciting but still not his biggest priority as he made his way past full compartment after full compartment. Until he reached a compartment with only one kid in it, the same boy that needed help through the barrier earlier, so Ron cleared his throat and said

"Would it be okay for me to sit here, everywhere else is full" The boy smiled up at him and nodded. Ron settled down and then stuck out his hand to the boy "Hi, I'm Ronald Weasley"

The boy took his hand with a smile "Harry Potter'' Ron's breath hitched "uh-I-Uh-The -Harry Potter?" Harry nodded again and then lifted his hair to show the scar and that's how a great start to Ron's train ride to Hogwarts started he and Harry got along well and they were becoming fast friends they even shared some food Harry getting one of Ron's two sandwiches and Harry sharing some sweets he had bought off the trolly lady with Ron. The ride was pretty peaceful and nice until Draco bloody Malloy had to show up and try to play nice with Harry, Harry wasn't having any of Draco's bull shit and that made Ron happy he had been chosen first, it felt good.

Around 45 minutes after Draco left with a sneer their compartment door swung open and a young witch with crazy wild bushy hair and buck teeth stood there looking at them asking if they've seen a toad after about 30 seconds she went off on Harry asking question after question and damn she was annoying and pompous she talked like she knew it was better and it was infuriating but he didn't say anything about it.

They were having a nice time chatting together when the subject of houses came up

"Well I hope I'm gonna be in Gryffindor, my whole family has been in Gryffindor, so I hope I'm in Gryffindor"

"What do you think I'll be?" Harry asked looking curious

"Oh definitely a Gryffindor, at least that's what I've gotten off of you after we became friends"

"Are we friends?" Harry asked unsurely

"Of course!" Ron said brightly " or at least I like to think we are"

Harry grinned wide and bright "awesome!"

They continued to talk about everything they could fit in with their limited time till they arrived at Hogwarts. He was shocked to hear that the boy in front of him had to endure abuse back where he lived with his muggle relatives, it was just disgusting. He also learned about how he had been shielded from the wizarding world which enraged Ron and he spoke his mind about it too. The conversation then drifted into siblings, Harry didn't have any but he wanted to hear all about Ron's.

"Well, Bills cool he works as a curse breaker for Gringotts in Egypt, he's laid back and just...cool...yeah cool, Charlie is a dragon tamer in Romania and he's athletic and energetic, he has a fun-loving spirit, Percy is a really big book worm and is very prestigious but he's still a great brother where it counts even though at times it can feel like he hates us, Fred and George are twins and they are hilariously funny and they pull pranks on people all the time, so be warned when we're in Gryffindor, and finally Ginny my baby sister she's only a year younger than me, and she's my best friend….yeah..yeah it sounds a little childish or silly for your best friend to be your little sister but she's awesome and I'm gonna miss her, I'll miss her the most out of my family".

Harry smiled wide "that sounds amazing Ron, I wish I had that many siblings" Ron loved his brothers and sister and he would never give up any one of them but it got overwhelming especially with how much time the older kids and the young little girl needed that he felt neglected a lot of the time but he was not about to unload that on to Harry so he just smiled and nodded.

"Yeah, it's amazing, having a quiet house can be boring!"

They talked for another hour before they changed into their cloaks and talked for another 20 minutes and then the train came to a stop. Ron and Harry walked out of the train barely being able to see through the fog that covered the grounds that the train stopped at they were walking around kind of deliriously until they heard a loud yell from behind them

"ALL FIRST YEARS YOU'LL BE FOLLOWING ME!"

Ron and Harry turned around to see a huge man well over 7 feet standing at the end of the grounds waving over the first years with enthusiasm and care "Hagrid!" Harry said excitedly. Ron mentally noted what Harry had said, he had heard all about Hagrid from Harry and he seemed at least how Harry said he was a great man. Harry and Ron made their way over to the huge man and greeted him, they then proceeded to follow the large man onto the boats Ron and Harry's boat was also occupied by a blonde slightly chubby kid that Ron had heard name was Neville and the same bushy-haired brunette Hermione.

As the boat drifted across the water Ron couldn't see a damn thing as the fog was too thick and it was near impossible to see but as Ron was about to give up any luck on seeing anything a bright yellow light shone in front of the kids and that's when he saw it and he gasped in awe just likes everyone else did in front of them was a vintage kind of looking relic of a castle and it looked magnificent. It was a humongous castle and it was shining bright as it had lights all over shining the castle up leaving an extravagant site. The closer the boats got to Hogwarts the more details he could see, the bricks forming perfect spirals and curves, the shrubbery being perfectly trimmed, and the carvings and indentations beautifully showing the excellence of the castle.

The boats suddenly stopped and they were all ordered out by Hagrid, as they made their way over cobblestone stairs they saw a woman wearing emerald green robes, and a black hat with glasses, and black hair. She looked strict and hard but also caring and kind at the same time. She started to speak and Ron all though transfixed on the castle still heard every word. She was speaking of houses and how the first years were going to be sorted(all though she excluded how they would be) she also welcomed us all to Hogwarts and then led us to the great hall. Inside the great hall there were five tables four lined up vertically, obviously being separated by houses, and one horizontal table at the way back of the great hall and it was facing the other tables and that fifth table sat all the professors of the school.

In front of all the first years was a chair, a single chair where a hat sat on top of it, Ron was about to ask what was going on when suddenly the hat sprung to life and started to sing about the founders and how it would sort you and other bollocks, although the hat did well and it was rather impressive so all the first years and other years that were seated clapped. Suddenly the clapping stopped and the same woman that welcomed them who he later found was Ms. Mcgonagall started calling off names, he wasn't too worried he knew he was gonna be Gryffindor he just hoped Harry would be Gryffindor too.

"Granger, Hermione" he glanced up at the familiar name and stared as the hat was rested upon her head it looked like she was thinking hard like she was speaking in her mind, the sorting took a while about 3 minutes until the hat yelled loudly and clearly

"GRYFFINDOR!"

Ron was a little annoyed that he was gonna be in the same house as that Granger girl but he didn't let it bother him. Hopefully, she was just nervous so she came off snobby and bossy. He kind of zoned out waiting for Harry and his names to come up after about 7 minutes he heard

"Potter, Harry"

Harry slowly walked up the stairs to the chair after Ron gave him words of encouragement and he sat down Ron watched content on Harry being a Gryffindor he wanted Harry to get it so they could be friends still, Harry was a cool guy, after about 45 seconds the hat bellowed an answer

"GRYFFINDOR!"

Relief filled his body and he was feeling quite excited now especially after he heard the twins chanting "we got Potter!" Over and over again until they were silenced by their head of house. The sorting went on for about another 4 minutes before

"Weasley, Ronald"

Ron slowly walked over feeling confident about what he was going to get, this was going to be great he'd be sorted into Gryffindor, and he and Harry would become great friends, everything was going to be fine.

Oh, how wrong he was…

The hat was placed on top of his head and he heard a voice speaking to him in his head

"Hello young Weasley, here let's see better be gryff—" but the hat stopped it was thinking

"Um is everything ok? Just put me in Gryffindor and move on with it right?"

"Hmm" the hat sounded like it was intrigued " very interesting, well Ronald all though you do possess the bravery of a lion you also possess something else, something stronger, yes a drive a strong drive when something pushes you or hurts you you will push and shove and shout to prove them wrong no matter what the task"

Ron was listening intently "so?..."

The hat cleared its magical throat "you won't agree with this now but you'll do much better there than any other house. Your ambition and potential won't be able to thrive in the other three houses. So all though you might not like this now, it is the best for you"

Ron was confused but also worried "so what are you saying?"

The hat didn't answer however as Ron heard the hat yell the answer to the whole of the hall.

"SLYTHERIN!"

Ron froze, What The Fuck! He couldn't believe what was happening, how? When? Why? He was brought back to reality as Professor McGonagall tapped him on the shoulder, he slowly got out of the chair now noticing that no one was clapping at all they all just stared at him either in curiosity or disgust, he was seeing disgust at both the Gryffindor table and the Slytherin table. He slowly sat down at the end of the Slytherin table where no one else was and he just sat there staring at the table thoughts flying through his head.

He hardly noticed that the sorting had finished and there was food in front of him, he ate slowly not willing himself to eat like he normally did as he thought he might get sick. As the houses were dismissed he slowly followed his house down to the Slytherin common room. He heard the prefect say the password which was "power" and then he entered behind his fellow housemates.

"First years stay here and wait for your head of house, also boys first-year dorms are on the right and the girls are on the left," said a female prefect who then walked away leaving the first years alone in the common room. The common was pretty nice. It had a green kind of envy-type vibe going on and it was pretty neat with snake statues slithering around metal beams.

He was deep In thought when he was shoved, he stumbled slightly and then looked at the person who shoved him. Malloy. "How the hell did you get into the house of Salazar Weasley?" he said with a sneer and he spat out his last name with spite. Ron was about to answer in a quite rude way when Snape walked in his black robes gliding along with him as he walked he looked kinda creepy but Ron wouldn't dare say that to the man's face.

Snape looked over the first years and then started to speak " welcome to your first year at Hogwarts, and welcome to the great house of Slytherin, we here at Slytherin fare very cunning and ambitious, but we also have another trait fraternity, do not argue or fight with your housemates it is childish and you should know better being in the house of Slytherin, we also demand you all be on time to classes and meals and do not lose your house points, do you hear me?"

The first years all nodded and said "yes sir" before Snape looked at them all over again his eyes lingering on Ron for a second longer than the rest and then he glided out of the common room leaving the first years to get to the dorms.

The boys' dorms were split into two rooms three people in each, to his luck, he wasn't with Malloy or his two goons he was with a Blaise Zabini and a Theodore Nott. The celebration was short-lived however as when he entered his dorm he was followed by the five other Slytherin boys Malfoy at the front of the group " alright weasel we have come to a decision you will be able to be in the dorms to get stuff from your trunk for at most 15 mins at a time any longer and you will get punished" he smirked while Crabbe and should cracked their knuckles.

Ron looked at them and then shook his head "dream on Malfoy, I'm not gonna do what a little pompous git tells me what to do" he then smirked and turned back to get ready for bed, what he didn't expect was to have two people Crabbe and Goyle hold him by the arms and then hoist him to the group and then get hit in the face three times by each boy then getting thrown to the ground and kicked and then to top it off thrown down the stairs of the dorms and then to land a face-first on the hard ground of the common room.

He crawled over to a corner of the common room, he was hyperventilating, and he hoped to all hell that they wouldn't touch his stuff. As he closed his eyes to calm down he winced in pain, he was hurting all over and it was killing him, luckily he still had a few days until classes started so at least he wouldn't have to go to class looking horrible.

He pulled his legs into his chest and started to cry, this wasn't supposed to happen he thought as sobs wracked his body. After a few minutes, he stopped crying and just sat there in a ball, in a corner of the common room instead of a bed.

It was going to be a long night.
