The funny thing about bringing the multiverse together was the fact that now it was more than likely to run into someone who looked either like you or something near and dear to you.

Thus was the case when Alex Danvers formerly of Earth 38 was waiting in line for her much-needed caffeine fix and was blindsided by the fact that not only had the woman in front of her have her water break but also turned out that said woman about to give birth in the line of a small-town National City coffee shop was a doppelganger for ex-fiancée.

"L—L-Lexie?" the Maggie double groans not realizing until her hand was literally turning the other woman's purple with how hard she was holding it just who it was that had reached out to catch her as she'd doubled over at the first of the harder contractions.

"I prefer Alex but sure, Lexie is fine too." Alex corrects not once letting go of the new Maggie's hand. Doppelgangers am I right?" she tries to joke as she follows her down onto the floor neither much caring at the moment about the still busy shop around them.

"This really freaking hurts and your making jokes?" the dark-haired woman snarls through her teeth then trails off hissing out curses Alex wasn't aware even her Maggie knew.

"Yes?" Alex shrugs redoubling her grip as best she could while quickly losing all feeling in her right hand given the grip. It was like that time she'd had to hold Kara's hand when Eliza had to be stand-in-nurse back in high school. Even when Kara knew it wasn't going to hurt her, she'd still gripped Alex's hand enough to dislocate a finger or two. Alex quickly covering even when her mother by pretending she'd slammed said hand in her locker.

"I've really missed your stupid face." the Maggie double groaned leaning back into Alex's shoulder after the agent finished settling in behind her to act as a cushion of sorts when the pain of another contraction hit. "I mean her stupid face. I mean-" again she stops to groan out more curses only to start again with a panting "I'm sorry this just totally kills, and you look like my ex who left me the second she found out I was pregnant because she loved me but didn't want to deal with kids and-"

"Ssshhh." Alex soothes brushing the mother-to-be's hair back over her shoulder. "I get it, but I happen to love kids, and right now all I want to do is help you with this baby." Already she can hear the ambulance speeding toward them as she continued timing out the contractions.

Maggie was already shaking her head. "but she's not due till tomorrow. It's too soon."

Alex hated whenever Maggie cried and doppelganger or no, she was really, really hating when the one currently in her arms cried. "Well, your little girl is just excited to meet her mother."

Maggie's teeth snap together on the next stab of pain. "I want to meet her but right now she's ripping me apart and it hurts and God you smell like the ocean and lab disinfectant." The shorter woman half moans pressed her nose against the side of Alex's throat.

"I'm sorry?"

Again, Maggie shakes her head. "No, it's good, it's good I love your smell just I've missed it. Well, her and now you're here and you look like her, but I know you're not her, and thank you so much for being here."

Alex can't help hiding her laughter against the shorter woman's shoulder "Again gotta love the multiverse."

"Alex? What- what the heck are you doing?"

Maggie's glare was more than enough to quiet Alex's only recently labeled ex-girlfriend. "Look Miss tall, mocha skin and hot as heck in that jacket, I swear to any deity of your choosing you try to take her away before this kid is out of me, I'm dumping what's left of that hot tea I ordered in your eyes."

"You did say you wanted to meet Maggie at some point." Alex says her chin still nestled against the shorter woman's shoulder from behind. "This is just the one you ran into first."

The Maggie in question was currently doing her best to control her breathing amid the pain of another contraction before she met the other woman's eyes. "Hi. Maggie Sawyer formally of Earth 203." ending in a loud screaming curse.

Alex could see Kelly about to blow a gasket but before she could Supergirl arrived.

"What took you so long?" Maggie howled once again gripping Alex's hand tight enough to cut off circulation.

"Wh- Mag-D Detective Sawyer?" Alex rolled her eyes at her sister's surprised greeting.

"'Vers double not the one you know. But I am a cop thinks for noticing." Maggie panted nuzzling back against Alex's neck inhaling her flavor deeply. Her pain turned to pure panic at the sounds of the ambulance someone had thought to call drew closer.

"No. No hospital. Please. Please, Alex." Maggie begged. "They'll hurt my baby."

"Okay then." Kara nodes sharing a glance with her sister who shrugged shifting a little to allow Kara to pick up the in-labor woman and carried her as quickly yet carefully away from the gawking gazes of the shop customers before the ambulance had finished pulling up to the curb.

They ended up in a back office.

"I've got her you take care of the baby." Kara instructs now taking over Alex's role as an anchor seeming to be using her powers to hover the still contracting Maggie over the leather sofa in the corner of the room her cape now draped over Maggie's front like a blanket despite the fact, Maggie had chosen to wear a skirt when making her early morning drink run and Kara herself had chosen to face them away from the door and had already broken the mirror behind the door with a controlled blast of heat vision.

"You smell like sunshine and cinnamon." Maggie determines apparently not at all upset about the fact she was in a sense levitating off the sofa at the moment.

"Maggie." Alex breathed hesitantly now as she dropped the medical beg beside the sofa.

"Come on Danvers, it's not like you haven't seen well a version of what's down there before." Maggie groans "Now get down there and pull this kid out of me already."

Alex can't stop the grin from spreading over her lips at the demand as she snaps on a pair of gloves from the borrowed medical bag. "Fine but I owe you dinner." she challenged sending the panting woman a playful wink then held her gaze for one last consenting node before pulling up her sister's safeguard of a cap to check just how far along they had to go.

"Sure, Danvers whatever you want." Maggie agreed thought gritted teeth. "Fuck Lex I have to push."

"Don't you dare Sawyer." In the back of her mind, Alex remembered this Maggie wasn't the one she knew and yet it was just so simple so easy for her to fall back into the playful teasing she'd had with her own Maggie back when her world was just that of Earth 38. "You push now, and you'll just hurt yourself. Wait till the next contraction then push alright?"

Maggie's next curse came out in loud Spanish followed by a much more English spoken: "You're killing me, Danvers."

The room must have been soundproofed to the more human ears considering the next second Kara had turned her head enough to melt the handle of the door only for the next second several shots of a certainly not human-made weapon were fired through the door.

Kara was ready for it sending several calculated bursts of heat vision back through the already singed holes in the door then following that in putting up a solid sheet of ice between themselves and the door.

"They'd already made it clear they aren't in the mood to take hostages. Only the baby." The super explained as she worked. Whoever it was hadn't been expecting such heavy resistance if Kara's pleaded grin was anything to go by. "That should hold them a while." The young hero smiled.

"I've missed you." Maggie groaned nuzzling her face against the crook of Kara's neck affectionately.

"Miss you too Mags." Kara murmured the hand not locked in what should have been a death grip for a human hand sliding tenderly into Maggie hair pulling the sweat-dampened locks from the mother's throat as she started humming against the shell of her ear.

"Fuck Alex please I have to push; this has to stop before this kid rips me in half from my vag."

Alex glared but Kara shakes her head with a soft "this is another contraction, let her push, Lex." Before restarting the melody over again against Maggie's ear as she gave another coaxing breath to the in-pained mother-to-be.

How she'd managed while also juggling delivery of a baby was a mystery even for Kara when one second Alex was wearing one of her warmer-lined leather jackets the next said jacket was pulled off and swaddled around the newborn baby girl as she took her first screaming breaths in the world.

"You might not get this jacket back, Al." Kara notices seeing just how tightly the newborn was gripping the leather in her little fist cradled as she was in her elder sister's arms.

"Kara mind handling the cord."

It was a weak-sounding Maggie rather than Alex who suggested it while the latter worked on clearing the still crying baby's airway as best, she could without proper medical supplies causing Kara to chew on her lower lip uneasy. "I don't think-"

"I trust you, Kara. Please. I want to hold my daughter." Maggie pleaded sending her saddest puppy eyes toward the super.

"No, no, Not Sawyer worthy puppy eyes." Kara whined playfully shielding her eyes while Maggie pouted harder.

"Please, Kar." The worn-out mother tries again.

"Hey, we still need to get you both out of here safely." Alex reminds still cradling the near-identical mini-Maggie against her chest.
