I want to give this story a try. So in this fic, Malefor is on the verge of being sealed away forever, and decides to use the last of his aether to transfer it all to Spyro, of course this decision changes everything. Just now that Spyro will be using Dark Aether. And I'm gender swapping the four Guardian Dragons. So its SpyroXCynderXBiancaXEloraXEmberXGenderSwapFourGuardianDragons
Disclaimer: I don't own Spyro
Spyro, the Dual God Ch 1
It was the final battle between Malefor, the fallen Purple Dragon, and Spyro and Cynder.
Born in ancient times, Malefor was the first purple dragon, and a talented one at that. He first mastered the element of Fire, despite not being a fire dragon, and then harnessed the powers of Ice, Wind, Earth, Electricity, and many other elements none thought existed. Thus, Malefor was the first dragon to be able to use more than one element, which other Dragons were restricted to only one. Believing Malefor to be the shining hope of Dragonkind and the one to usher them into a new age, the Dragon Elders willingly taught Malefor how to master these elements. However as time went by, Malefor became arrogant and over-confident, and his power and knowledge grew far beyond what was expected, as did his lust for power. Fearing his lack of restraint, the Elders banished him to exile.
Filled with hatred for his own kind, Malefor abandoned his true calling and embraced the darkness of the Aether element, the signature raw ability of the Purple Dragon. The dark power corrupted his physical appearance and altered his voice, but Malefor was able to gain full command over Dark Aether and not let it consume his consciousness for the time being. As a result, Malefor would take on the title as "The Dark Master" for his full mastery over the dark power he possessed. He built himself a fortress within a mountain and afterwards recruited an army of Apes, teaching them how to artificially harness the power of the gems, which are the Dragons' lifeforce. It wasn't long before he sought more and greater power, waging a war against the Dragon race. His actions sent the world spiraling into chaos, ruining the peaceful reputation of the Dragons in the process. With his army established and growing by the day, Malefor built a great fortress upon a mountain, and there he resided, staring out upon the lands. His sheer malice was so great, that it split the earth and created a pit of despair called the Mountain of Malefor, also known as the Well of Souls, by the evil-hearted.
Eventually, Malefor was defeated by the Ancestors and confined within the Well of Souls. While his spirit was imprisoned in the Mountain of Malefor, his essence was trapped in Convexity. He sought to escape the mountain he had created, and while Malefor manipulated a plan to do so, his army was still able to carry out his orders.
Centuries later, Malefor was able to catch wind of the promised prophecies linking to the birth of the next Purple Dragon. This caused him to feel threatened of another dragon with powers equal to his own that was capable of stopping him. During the Year of the Dragon, he sent his Ape army to the Dragon Temple under the command of his servant, Gaul the Ape King, to destroy all of the dragon eggs to prevent the next Purple Dragon from being born.
Under another order however, Gaul captured a dragon egg, as Malefor needed a dragon born on the Year of the Dragon to open the gateway in Convexity that served as his prison. Gaul stole Cynder's egg so she would serve Malefor and bring him back, while the Apes smashed all the other dragon eggs, unaware that the Fire Guardian Ignitus had rescued the purple dragon's egg. The Ape King used Malefor's dark powers to corrupt and influence Cynder, transforming her into a large, evil dragon with greater strength and agility at an unnaturally fast rate. Cynder and Gaul then set out to bring Malefor back. Cynder embarked on a mission to open the Convexity portal which imprisoned her master's soul, while her Ape army scattered and left the land in ruins. Her ultimate plan was to capture each of the Dragon Guardians and drain their energies into crystals which she would use to release Malefor from his prison.
Spyro, the newly born Purple Dragon, and his adoptive brother, Sparx the Dragonfly, traveled across the land and rescued each of the four remaining Dragon Guardians after Cynder drained their energies into crystals. She then journeyed to Convexity and placed the last one into the portal containing her master, providing Malefor a means of escape. Before Malefor could break free, Spyro used his full power and defeated Cynder, freeing her from the villain's thrall and returning her to her true form; a dragon the same age and size as Spyro. As the portal opened, the effects of Spyro and Cynder's battle caused it to become unstable and it began to implode, drawing everything within the Convexity. Spyro saved Cynder, and he and Sparx escaped the collapsing Convexity dimension as the essence of Malefor emerged. However, Malefor's essence got caught in the collapse, and his soul entered the Well of Souls, still trapped. As his spirit awakened, an evil energy, possibly his returning essence, appeared at the peak of the Mountain of Malefor, a symbol of his presence within the dark mountain.
After they returned to the Dragon Temple, Spyro and Cynder both gazed up at the sky, wondering if the Dark Master would soon return. While resting off the weakness from the battle, Spyro dreamed of the battle between him and Cynder and how he saved her, hearing Malefor's voice in his head, calling his name.
As the Night of Eternal Darkness drew close, Gaul and his Ape army traveled to the Well of Souls after being called to it. They established their base there, awaiting the return of the Dark Master, who Gaul planned on resurrecting and releasing from the Well of Souls to satisfy the Apes' lust for power and exact their revenge on the Dragon race. To lure Spyro into his unaware stage, Gaul captured Cynder, who left the Dragon Temple when she still blamed herself for what happened when she was under Malefor's control.
As Gaul held Cynder captive, he informed her that Malefor would either take her back for her "loyalty" as his servant or kill her. Though, she refused any notion of becoming the Dark Master's slave again and remained imprisoned by Gaul in the Mountain. Spyro, who grew to care for Cynder, and Sparx set out to rescue her and eventually made it to the Well of Souls, where Spyro confronted and fought against Gaul. During the Celestial Moons' eclipse, Spyro fell into the Well of Soul's beam of energy; its dark power allowed the influence of Dark Aether to take control of Spyro's mind. Having lost control over this sinister power, Spyro killed Gaul in his fury and was about to turn on Sparx and Cynder. Fortunately, Cynder saved Spyro by knocking him out of the beam generated by the Lunar Alignment, freeing him from the effects of Dark Aether.
However the battle caused the Mountain to collapse all around them, trapping the three. To save them, Spyro used his Dragon Time ability to encase him, Sparx and Cynder in crystal. After the eclipse, Malefor finally escaped from the Well of Souls and proceeded to plague the world, with the only other purple dragon frozen in suspended animation and unable to do anything to stop him.
After three years of being trapped in the time crystal, Spyro, Sparx, and Cynder finally awakened to stop Malefor from destroying the world. However, both Spyro and Cynder were chained together with green snake collars placed on them by a troop of Grublins as they were intended to be sacrificed to the Golem under Malefor's orders. They managed to escape and reached Warfang when it was under siege by Malefor's army, and defeated the Golem during the struggle. However later that night, Malefor made an ominous announcement to the Warfang inhabitants that since they survived the siege, they would be the first to witness the resurrection of The Destroyer, a mountain-sized golem used to destroy the world to usher in a new one.
Spyro and Cynder attempted to stop the Destroyer, but when they destroyed its crystal core to defeat it, Malefor restored the Destroyer through his powers, continuing its mission. Realizing that the only way to stop the Destroyer was to defeat Malefor, Spyro and Cynder set off to confront the Dark Master. After going on a long journey, Spyro and Cynder both made it to Malefor's Lair where they confronted the villainous dragon and find him waiting for them. He taunted Spyro by saying that they have more in common than just their color. Spyro denied this, saying that he is nothing like Malefor, who then proceeded to free the young dragons of the snake collars that chained them together as his way of "thanking" Cynder for his services and make them feel more comfortable.
Malefor then claimed that his influence over Cynder had not been completely diminished and that she had led Spyro to the Well of Souls to trick him into freeing the evil dragon. Cynder both denied Malefor's words, but grew unsure and said that she doesn't know anymore, to which Malefor replied by taking control over her again and renewing her dark side. While Malefor attacked Spyro through Cynder repeatedly, he assured Spyro that there have been many Purple Dragons before him and that the true nature of their kind has been to resurrect the Destroyer and the Golems of the Deep during that age in order to bring about the "Great Cleansing", destroying the world. Despite having been stopped from completing his goal back in his time, Malefor revealed that Spyro had nonetheless fulfilled his 'destiny', and that the world would be destroyed along with the young dragon.
Spyro denied Malefor's statements and continued to be struck by Cynder as Malefor laughed maniacally. Cynder angrily asked why Spyro wouldn't fight back, and Spyro sadly responded that it was because she had left him nothing to fight for. This realization broke Malefor's hold on Cynder, and she lovingly told Spyro that there was always something. Enraged by this turn of events, Malefor chained Cynder back to Spyro with the same snake collars, binding them together in order to kill them both before engaging the two dragons in battle. After a long battle against Malefor, Spyro and Cynder followed after him to continue their fight in the skies above the temple. However, the Destroyer managed to enter the maw of the earth, initiating the world's destruction as it began to break apart. Spyro and Cynder continued their battle against Malefor as they were descending into the core of the world.
Despite their efforts, Malefor proclaimed that he was eternal, unable to be destroyed. After a final Aether blast against Spyro and Cynder, Malefor was knocked to the Earth's crystal core, but recovered from the blow unscathed, ready to attack again. Suddenly, several dragon spirits emerged from the crystal core, surrounding the evil dragon. As the egregious Malefor looked upon the spirits in shock and fear, as he was being dragged away.
'No...This can't be! I haven't fulfilled my destiny! My life's work can't end here!'
Malefor then for the first time ever, looked sad, like he was filled with regret. 'This is it for me...I can't go back...Everything I tried to change...I didn't even matter...'
Spyro and Cynder didn't see it, but Malefor shed a tear.
"Spyro! Now's your chance! Use the Light Aether to fix this world!"
Spyro nods. "You got it!"
Spyro'a body glowed white as he released a pillar of white light. It escaped Malefor's lair and it expanded, covering the whole world and undoing the damage Malefor caused.
While this was going on, Malefor looked at the scene and was furious. But not himself or Spyro, but the Light Aether or what it represented.
'Light...Light...LIGHT! It's because of HIM that I lost everything that day! My home! My friends!...My family...If HE was dead! Then I wouldn't have done all of this!'
He then turns to Spyro. 'That poor boy...Despite everything he's done, he's still naive to think that light is ALL good.'
Malefor then smirked as he thought of something. 'Perhaps what he needs is a little guidance...'
And the white pillar disappeared. Spyro collapsed to the ground as he took heavy breaths.
"Spyro! Are you okay!?" Yelled Cynder as she rushed to Spyro.
The purple scaled dragon gave Cynder a thumbs up. "Yep! Whew! Who knew saving the world took alot out of ya!"
Cynders chuckled as she lightly punches Spyro in the arm. "You idiot..."
"Spyro..."
They both turn to Malefor. "I have to say, congratulations on beating someone like me. I wouldn't have that I was beaten by someone like you. But I guess in life there are many surprises.
Spyro smirked. "Well its over Malefor! Our victory proved that Light beats Darkness every time! Light is good while Darkness is evil!"
They both heard Malefor chuckling.
"What's so funny?" Cynder asked.
"Ahh...It's just that...The reason why I committed ANY of these atrocities was simply because of the Light!"
This made Spyro frown. "No way! I thought that the Light could've made you this way! From what we were told, you became corrupted and arrogant over time and came to the dark side!"
"Hmph. Of course HE would cover that up. Listen Spyro, not everything you learned about is true. It is true that during I was once a kinder, caring dragon when I was your age, but my fall from grace didn't come from me being arrogant, cruel, or greedy."
Spyro wanted to believe this was another lie, but he couldn't help feel it was something else though. Why would Malefor lie at this point if he was being sealed.
"Then why did you turn evil?"
"Come closer if you want to seek the truth."
"Spyro no!" Cynder warned, but Spyro did it anyway as he approached the dragon. Spyro knew his life wasn't in any danger because Malefor was being sealed.
"I want to know the truth Malefor! Why did you turn evil?! Why did you betray our kind!?" Spyro demanded.
All Spyro saw was Malefor smiling as he had in his palm a black sphere.
"To one purple dragon to another, here's my parting gift Spyro the dragon!" Malefor as he slammed the black sphere into Spyro's chest.
"Spyro!" Yelled Cynder as she saw Malefor insert the sphere into Spyro's chest, it then went inside his body.
Malefor then screamed as he was being sucked into crystal core and sealed there for all eternity.
Spyro heavily exhales as he was still in shock of what happened.
"Spyro!" The purple scaled dragon turned to Cynder as she ran to him.
"Cynder, I'm alright!"
The dragoness stopped in place. But still looked worried.
"What did that bastard do you?!" Cynder yelled out as she recalled what she went though because of Malefor.
"That's the thing...I don't know what he did to me...He just let whatever that was into my body...But I don't feel any different."
Cynder for the life of her sighed in relief. "I guess that's fine...But more importantly, you saved the world."
"No Cynder, WE saved the world." Cynder then blushed.
"You dummy...Let's get out of here."
Cynder opened her wings and was ready to fly.
"Last one home is-"
"AHHHHHHHHHH!"
"Spyro?" Cynder's heart dropped when she heard her beloved scream in agony. She slowly turns and finds Spyro on the floor, clawing the ground.
"AHHHH! IT HURTS!, WHY DOES IT HURT SO MUCH!?" All over his body, dark veins began to sprout from his body.
"SPYRO! LET ME HELP YOU!"
"NO!"
"I don't know what Malefor did to me...But I can't risk you getting in contact with me...For all I know he could've planted some dark magic in me, and I don't want you to turn evil again!"
Cynder fought back to urge to cry as she watched Spyro wringing in pain. She saw that he was going through a painful transformation.
Spyro's purple scales turned a little dark. His claws, spikes, horns, and teeth grew a little longer and sharper. Then dark veins appeared on his body as they started pulsing. Before Spyro and Cynder knew, Spyro's body started growing. Dark Aether was being pumped into his body as he grew.
"What's happening to me!?" Yelled out Spyro in agony.
Spyro continued to grow as the Dark Aether was expanding his muscles. He saw that his forearms were inflating as so was his legs. Pectorals formed on Spyro's chest as they ballooned up. Spyro then grunts as he felt something pop on his stomach as they formed a solid 8 pack. His back was gaining more definition as his spine was constantly snapping and changing to adjusted for Spyro's new weight. Spyro's tail also became longer and grew in width as well. Spyro's neck muscles also expanded as Spyro's neck grew longer. Spyro's wing changed as they became more demonic with dark veins. Cynder watched as Spyro kept growing, but now Spyro completely dwarfed Cynder in height and size. Spyro then felt something coming out of his body. He saw that the black orb from earlier was popping from under Spyro's pecs, and stayed there. Eventually, the transformation stopped as Spyro was on all fours, breathing heavily. The dark veins that appeared all over his body disappeared.
If one were to look at Spyro now, he could be mistaken as an adult dragon as he now look bigger and stronger than before. If anything, one would assume he's the 5th Guardian Dragon, except he's still shorter than them.
"Spyro...Are you alright?...Speak to me!" Cynder yelled out in concern. She slowly walks to her loved one who was panting hard.
Spyro slowly got up and stood on his two feet. Completely towering Cynder. He opened his eyes and they were red for a moment which scared Cynder. But a moment later they returned to normal. Spyro looks down to Cynder and smiled.
"Hey!"
"HEY?! YOU WERE IN A PAINFUL TRANSFORMATION THAT COULD'VE KILLED YOU AND ALL YOU HAVE TO SAY IS HEY?!" Cynder yelled out.
Spyro looked upset. "Well..."
Cynder then smirked. "I'm just messing with you idiot! But how do you feel?"
Spyro looked over his new body. "Well for one thing...No one will call me a little dragon anymore. But I feel lots of Dark Aether inside of me, so much that I feel like a ticking time bomb waiting to go off. Other than that, I'm okay." Spyro explained.
"Good! Come here so I can kiss you."
Spyro then got on all fours and proceeded to kiss Cynder, the dragoness proceeded to do the same. But it was awkward as Spyro's lips were bigger than Cynder, which lead to Cynder almost being swallowed by Spyro.
"...Sorry."
"This will take some time to get used too." Cynder said.
"Yeah...Why would Malefor do this to me?"
"Maybe it has something to do with that?" Cynder pointed to the orb on Spyro's body.
"Perhaps mom can explain this. She is the wisest out of the 4 Guardians." This also made Spyro realize something. If he showed it himself to Ignitus, she'll probably cuddle him. Spike grimaced at the thought of being crushed by her.
"Well, now that this craziness is out of the way. Let's go home now! Everyone's waiting!" 'And I also want to try you out my purple dragon!'
Spyro nods as he opened his wings, as Cynder did the same. Both dragons flew out of Malodor's lair, and heading home to their loved ones.
In another dimension was a castle that was bathed mostly white with some yellow on it.
Inside the castle was a throne room with a massive throne. On the throne, was a massive, ripped dragon who towered over the four big guardian dragons. Who had mostly white scales, his inner scales were colored gold, his horns were massive as they were like antlers. And his wings were angelic. And his eyes had a gleam of yellow. The dragon was holding a cup of wine.
"Oh? It seems that fool Malefor is finally gone forever. Ha! It was only a matter up time before his consequences reached him. He made his choice many years ago..."
He thought about the last time him and Malefor met.
'You bastard!...YOU KILLED THEM ALL!'
'You chose to do this Malefor, being in the light means taking down the darkness. And what you did wasn't part of the light.'
'And you killed them for that!? They did nothing too you!'
'No! They were associated with someone who was in the darkness! You know this very well Malefor! The light consumes the darkness!'
'I'll kill you...I'LL DESTROY EVERYTHING THAT TOUCHES THE LIGHT!'
'Pfft...Now that's a funny joke. As if you can destroy me, let alone the light! I'm the Light God Malefor! You can't defeat me!'
'Damn you...'
'Now...I could kill you now...But seeing you here all alone without your family, your friends, everyone who knew you...Now that's much sweeter! I hope this teaches you a lesson Malefor that does who go against the light...'
Behind a bloodied Malefor, was many corpses of dragons with different colored scales, both old and young, and male and female.
'Will be erased from existence. Bye!' A pillar of light engulfed the dragon and disappeared.
Malefor clawed the ground with tears falling from his eyes. 'HIKARI!'
The memory ceased as one of his servants entered the room.
"Master Hikari!" He bowed.
"Ah! Why do you come to my humble abode?"
"I come to inform you that Malefor has been sealed forever into a crystal core!"
"That I'm already aware of. Why did you come to me in such a rush?"
"He was defeated by a dragon named Spyro?"
He had a bored look on his face. "And I'm suppose to care because?"
"B-because he's a purple dragon!"
This caused Hikari's eyes to widen in surprise.
"I see...It actually makes sense since Malefor was a purple dragon, and only a purple dragon can beat a purple dragon...Except for me though. And now that I think about it, I did feel a massive amount of Light Aether coming from that dimension...OK!" Hikari slowly got up and walked to the middle of the room.
"I'm going to this Spyro's realm and meet the dragon himself!" He chugs the wine and smashes it the ground.
"While I'm gone, fetch me a new wine cup! And it better be the wine I drink! Or else..."
"Yes Master Hikari!"
Hikari smirked. "It's good to be god." And Hikari disappeared under a veil of light.
