I'm a big fan of the Life is Strange games, I've seriously got a soft spot for Sean and Daniel. But as always my brain starts tickling and I get story ideas, I'm going to take a different route this time though. This will be my next project when I've finished A Wolf In Sheeps Clothing, I thought I'd post one chapter to see how it goes.
I've got an idea for an oc, it would be cool to try and do a romance fanfiction for once if I don't mess it ip. I could make it tragic or happy, I've gotten most of the endings in Life Is Strange 2 and I prefer the ending where the Wolf Brothers make it Mexico even if they turn to criminal activities.
-I don't own the Life Is Strange series.
-Please be patient with me - My laptop charger died, I have to write everything on my phone now.
-I have no idea how long this fanfiction will be, maybe I got write it in a way where the reader gets to decide the way the story will be told in some chapters- I could give choices, bad and good decision.
-Why don't they have Life Is Strange 2 characters on here in the characters part?
Stay safe and Enjoy!
Chapter 1!
Away, Arizona.
The sky was blue and the hot rays of the sun shone down upon the desert community of Away, this little peaceful haven was tucked away from the rest of Arizona. Not many people lived here all year round, it was more of a place people visited in the holiday season for tranquil moments. It was home for only a handful of people, a getaway from the world that shunned them. They had power and a water supply system, the residents somehow survived the elements.
Gemini Petersen was only seventeen, but her life had brought here by chance. Her Uncle Arthur Petersen had saved her from an abusive Father at the age of eight, she owed him a lot for all of the kindest he had ever shown her since he brought her into his family home. Her Uncle's life hadn't been that easy neither, he had come out after twenty years of marriage to his now divorced wife.
Arthur had taken Gemini with him after he left his ex wife, she was the Daughter of his deceased Sister. They moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, their lives improved for the better out there. The sad part was that two of Arthur's Daughters cut ties with him, but he was still in contact with his Daughter Becky though. Arthur soon met a man named Stanley, he was laid back and kind. He had been disowned by his family in response to him coming out too, but they were happy together and that was the only thing that matter.
Arthur and Stanley had been living together for nearly eight years before they moved to Away, Arizona. They both had suffered from serious breakdowns because of work and their lifestyle choices, it had been hard on them both. But by chance they had met a someone who told them about Away, it seemed like the perfect place for them to move to after their ordeal in San Francisco. Gemini had only just turned fifteen before they moved to Arizona, she was happy for the change too. Her school life wasn't easy, she longed for peace and quiet after everything her Father had put her through. The death of her Mother had caused her Father to drink and gamble, it had always been her fault when he lost large amounts of money to the local casino. She always tried to forget her past, but the belt scars she had gained on her left shoulder were a reminder of her past.
It took Arthur and Stanley over a year to build their dream home in the desert, they had to live in a house trailer until it was completed. But their hard work hadn't been in vain, the house was just the right size for the three of them. It was basic and not too big, it was comfortable with a perfect view of the community. Gemini had her own bedroom on the far end of the house, it gave her enough privacy from her Uncles. She loved spending time with them, but sometimes a girl needed her own space from their romantic shenanigans. They were like a pair of loved up teenagers half the time, but it was nice seeing them happy on their own plot of land in the desert.
Since the day was glorious once again in the little community of Away Gemini had decided to spend the afternoon on the porch of her home, she had everything she needed in front of her. A book about Galaxies and Black Holes, her favourite writing pad. A tall glass of lukewarm lemonade with a pink twirly straw in it and a bag of potato chips, also a bag of butter candies. She had already ate most of her potato chips, she needed the brainpower to finish off the short story she had been working on since yesterday for her private book collection in her room.
Gemini loved to write stories, she mostly wrote about animals in the desert or little made up stories about lizards or scorpions. It helped her escape the boredom she felt sometimes in the community amongst the canyons, she was the only teenager in Away in the none holiday months. She was surrounded by older people and spiky cactus plants, but the residences of Away were cool.
Resting her bare feet on the chair next to her Gemini leaned back against her chair, she began to sketch a picture of a scorpion wearing a sun hat and flip flops on it's many legs. She wrote Miss Stringer underneath her drawing, the scorpion Mom of several mischievous scorpion babies in the canyons of Away. She couldn't draw that well, but she enjoyed writing the side storoes to her doodles. She took a sip of her lemonade before her attention was caught by running footsteps, she placed her feet down on the floor and hid her note pad in the back of her book.
Gemini soon spotted the person who the footsteps belonged to, there was a young boy hurrying towards her house. He had dark hair and he wore a red shirt with blue demin jeans, he looked flustered. He was soon pulling a chair away from the other side of the table, it wasn't long until he joined her at the table. His hair was styled oddly and his fringe was uneven, but he had an interest in the book on the table between them.
" Hey, I'm Daniel!" He said before he leaned on his crossed arms. " What are reading? Is it any good? Do you think I could borrow it when you've finished with it? What's your name?"
" Wow, you're a curious little guy." Gemini smiled.
" Oh, sorry." Daniel said, he looked directly at her. " I forget my manners sometimes, but your book looks really cool."
" It's fine, you can keep it. I don't think my Uncle will mind anyway, he's got multiple copies of it on his bookshelf in the living room. " Gemini said before she closed the book and pushed it across the table towards him. " I've read it like a million times, I think you'll enjoy it."
" Whoa, seriously?!" Daniel asked.
" Yeah, I'm being serious." Gemini replied.
" Thank you so much!" Daniel smiled.
" You're welcome." Gemini said.
Gemini watched Daniel opening the book while she placed her glass down on the table top, he told that her loved books about the space. Gemini informed him that there was going to be a meteor shower next week, she told him the canyons were the best place to observe them at night. She planned on watching the meteor shower with her Uncles, it was something they did most weekends as a family.
" So cool, I'll tell my Mom about it." Daniel said.
" Who's you Mom?" Gemini asked.
" Karen, she lives over there." Daniel replied.
Daniel pointed over at a white coloured house trailer near the desert road, Gemini knew who lived in that house trailer. Karen Reynolds, she had been living in Away for a few years now. She was good friends with her Uncles, they had barbecues with her and their other friend Joan at weekends. Gemini knew Karen had children, she had spoken about them often and showed them a photograph she carried of them in her wallet. Karen had told the community that her Sons were in serious trouble and they needed a place to hide until things had settled down for them, she had only returned to Away last night.
" Ooooh, you're one of Karen's Sons!." Gemini said, she leaned on her hand and watched him turning the pages in the book. " She's cool, I like reading her advice columns for Desert Life Weekly."
" My Mom writes advice columns?" Daniel asked.
" Yep, she's really good at it." Gemini replied.
Daniel continued to speak with Gemini about random things, he was a very talkative child. He told her about his toys he once owned and that his favourite cartoon was Hotdog Man, also he wanted to make some new space rockets out of cardboard. She sat and listened to him chatting away about his favourite cartoon before they were interrupted by someone yelling the young boy's name, he told her that was his Brother Sean coming to drag him away for his new haircut.
" Daniel, get back here!"
Daniel grabbed his now new book from the table and climbed from the chair, he thanked her once again for the book before he kicked a stone from the porch. Gemini got to her feet and took a few steps forward until she wasn't far from Daniel's side, she was actually interested in the situation unfolding in front of her. There was never any excitement in the community of Away, this could be the highlight of her day. It had been months since she had seen any new people in the community, also the hiding out part Karen had told her about had peaked her interest in the new visitors.
" There you are, don't go running off like that!" Sean said.
" Sorry, I just wanted to explore while you were running my bath." Daniel said with a sigh. " But guess what?! There's gonna be a meteor shower next week, do you think we can watch it?"
" We'll see, enano." Sean replied before he turned his attention attention to Gemini. " I'm sorry if he's pesting you, he can be full on at times."
" It's fine, I don't mind." Gemini said.
" Hey Sean, look what she gave me to keep!" Daniel said, he showed him the book and turned his attention back to the girl. " What's your name? You never told me."
" It's because I couldn't get a word in edgeways." Gemini replied.
" That's sounds about right, he never knows when to shut up." Sean said.
" Hey!" Daniel frowned
" My name Gemini, but most people around here call me Gem or Gemmi or Mini." Gemini said while she held her hand towards the young boy. " It's nice to met you, Daniel."
" Whoa, such a cool name!" Daniel smiled.
Daniel immediately shook her hand, his handshake was very enthusiastic. His hand was sticky and sweaty though, she felt something sticking to the palm of her hand when he finally let go of it. Gemini now understood why his Brother was here, the kid was in desperate need of a bath and a haircut since it was uneven. They both looked in need of a shower and a hot meal, they looked exhausted. Sean's face was bruised and cut, not to mention he wore an eyepatch over his left eye.
" Come on, dirty Daniel." Sean said while he rested his hands on his younger Brother's shoulders. " You're stinking out the whole community, it's nice meeting you Gemini."
" Likewise." Gemini said.
" Hey, I don't smell that bad!" Daniel frowned.
" Wow, you had a delayed reaction... it must be all that dirt on your brain!" Sean joked.
" I'm gonna tell Mom!" Daniel said.
" You can tell Karen, I don't really care." Sean said.
" Shut up, you... you pig-pen!" Daniel said.
" Okay, that enough!" Sean said, his speaking tone was serious. " Now move it Daniel Felipe Diaz, that's an order!"
" Dude, don't call me by my full name in public!" Daniel said.
Daniel looked embarrassed over his middle name being revealed, he made eye contact with Gemini before he playfully punched his Brother's arm. He then hurried off towards Karen's house trailer with a few colourful words to follow after him from his big Brother, he waved to them before he disappeared through the trailer's open doorway. Gemini heard Sean muttering some words in Spanish, she had no idea what he had said though. She cleared her throat and broke the silence between them, she hated awkward silences.
" Wow, he seems like a handful." Gemini said.
" Tell me about it, he keeps me on my toes." Sean said.
" Well, I'll leave you to it then." Gemini said, she tucked her hands into her short's back pockets and took a step away from him. " Good luck with the bath thing, I think you're gonna need it."
" Thanks, I'm gonna need all the luck in the world." Sean said.
Gemini waved to Sean before he left, she watched him until he disappeared into the house trailer. She turned her attention back to the table and sighed deeply to herself, her writing pad was no longer on the table. She must have left it inside the back of the book, it was too late for her to collect it now since Karen's family were in the middle of something. She sat back down on her chair and took her glass of lemonade from the table, she was going to wait until tomorrow to get her note pad back.
