Hi. This little one-shot was inspired by Forest Blakk's If You Love Her. I heard the song yesterday and fell in love with it. The music video even made me cry, so you should definitely check it out if you haven't heard it yet.
Also, this works with any of the guys Octavia's been in a relationship with over the course of the show, so feel free to ship her with anyone you like.
I hope you enjoy this story, and don't forget to Follow, Favourite and Review.
He watches his sister get all dolled up. She dons a beautiful butterfly motif dress that flows with every step she takes, her hair is in an elaborate braid tied off with a single red ribbon, and her make up is much more sophisticated than anything she's done when playing dress up.
Tears can't help but pool in his eyes. Gone is the little girl who chased butterflies, who he read to, who he sang to sleep. His baby sister is already grown up.
And he can't believe he's about to give her away.
1. Let your arms be a place she feels safe in.
He's the first person, aside from the doctors, to hold her after she was born. He was the one who watched as her eyes took it's first glance of the world around them. He had watched as she yawned before seemingly burrowing deeper into his arms.
It was at that moment, he knew he'd love her forever; she's his sister, his responsibility.
2. She always has trouble falling asleep. And she likes to cuddle while under the sheets.
"Bell." Her little voices whispers, and he's immediately awake. "I can't sleep. Can I sleep with you?"
He stares into her big blue eyes, brushes the stray strand of hair behind her ear, before sending her a soft smile, sliding to the other side of the mattress.
"Of course you can, O." He lifts the covers off, welcoming her in, and tucks the blanket around the both of them.
He holds her tight, afraid she'd fall off the edge, and she cuddles closer into him. Her cold feet are tucked into his side, and he takes a moment to cup his hands around them, rubbing them to give them some warmth.
"Sleep, O. I'll protect you." He pulls her towards him, her small frame curling into a ball, and as she sleeps, he hopes she'll always love cuddles and want him to cuddle with her.
3. She loves pop songs, and dancing, and bad trash TV.
Noise erupts from the living room as he's cooking, and he rolls his eyes, telling his sister to turn down the music. When nothing changes, he leaves the kitchen in search of her.
He finds her, hairbrush in hand, dancing around the living room. She's jumping off the couches, "Mic" poised high in the air, as she performs for her imaginary crowd. Her singing is off-key and the song she had been singing to has long since ended, leaving one of those weirdly appealing MTV shows playing, but he can't find it in him to tell her to stop.
The joy on her face is apparent; her eyes are alight, her grin is wide, stretching from ear to ear, and there's no way he'd take this moment from her. So he turns off the stove, grabs a camera to take a few shots of her, before joining in. There's no way he's going to miss out on this moment either.
4. She loves love notes and babies, and likes giving gifts.
He has to cover his ears as she and Clarke squeals, the pair of them jumping in excitement over the gifts they had gotten for Valentine's day.
"Look at this note!" Clarke tells her, pulling out a slip of paper from Octavia's basket.
"I've loved you for the longest time, not telling you would be my biggest crime. Hoping you'd return these feelings of mine, will you be my Valentine?" Octavia reads.
"Awe." Clarke gushes. "Who's it from? Is it someone we know? It's so sweet."
Octavia just blushes, keeping silent as she ponders who the note could be from. The only hint was a little tree, drawn in a corner of the card.
Bellamy on the other hand, is not quite sure what to feel. No one in their right mind could not love Octavia. To him, she's all that's right in the world, she's the reason the world's still spinning. She's the kindest being on the planet, always mindful of everyone and everything. She wouldn't even hurt a fly.
But he doesn't know what to think of someone loving her romantically. She's still his baby sister, way too young for boys, and certainly to be in a relationship. Call him overprotective, but he doesn't want to see her hurt. He's not sure if he could restrain himself if-
"Happy Valentine's day, Bell." She pulls out a crudely wrapped present from behind her back. "Our teacher says on Valentine's day we give presents to those we love, and I love you." She kisses him on the cheek.
He swoops her into a hug, cradling her in his arms as he plants kisses into her hair. "I love you too, O. No matter how big you get, I'll always love you."
5. She has a hard time accepting a good compliment.
"You look beautiful, O." He tells her as he brushes her hair, untangling the long dark locks before beginning to style it.
"No, I don't." He can see her pout through the mirror. "Murphy says I look ugly. And that my ribbon is stupid." She clutches the red ribbon in her hands, twisting it in an attempt to tear it.
He gently unclenches her hands, places the ribbon aside, and holds them firmly in his own.
"Listen to me, Octavia." He looks her in the eyes. "You are the most beautiful girl in the world, and if anyone can't see that, then they're the stupid one. You have a heart of gold, and you have people who love you no matter what."
"Don't listen to people like Murphy. They're not worth it." He smiles, and she mirrors it before throwing her arms around him.
He picks her up and settles her in his lap, just as he hears her soft breaths tickle his ear. "Thanks, Bell."
6. She loves her whole family and all of her friends.
The first time she gets called to the principal's office, he's running. When he arrives, he sees her knuckle bruised and bloody, but she has a grin plastered onto her face. According to Mr. Kane, she punched a John Murphy in the face, breaking his nose, so she's sent home with a three-day suspension.
When they get home, he sits her down to get her side of the story, and she explains that the boy had been being mean to Clarke, saying things about how now that her dad's dead, Clarke's an unloved orphan, just like her. Then he told her that Bellamy's stupid for choosing to take care of his baby sister, when he could go have fun with the grown-ups.
By the end, she's in tears and he gathers her in his arms, assuaging all her fears, and reminding her that she is loved. And so is Clarke.
When she finally stops crying, he tells her she won't be punished as long as she doesn't punch someone again, unless it's during the martial arts class that he promises he'll sign her up for so she knows how to throw a proper punch.
7. Run your hands through her hair whenever she's sad.
8. If she gives you her heart, don't you break it.
The day she comes home from school crying is the day his heart breaks. He sent her off that morning, laughing arm-in-arm with Clarke, and the last thing he expected when she returned was for her to run through the door, slam it, and hide out in her room.
He leaves her alone until it's time for dinner, and when she doesn't come down, he makes some hot cocoa, topped with whipped cream and marshmallows, and takes it to her.
She accepts the offering and crawls onto his lap. He knows she was getting too big to still be doing this, but he also knows that one day, it will be the last day she does it. So he cherishes the moment.
He runs his fingers through her hair, watching as her shoulders slump and her body curl into his. She takes tentative sips of the drink, and when she's done, she tells him what happened at school.
Finn's lucky that Clarke and Raven had already beat him up. No one has yet to see the full wrath of Bellamy Blake for whoever decided to hurt his baby sister.
9. On days when it feels like the whole world might cave in, stand side by side and you'll make it.
She's on a school trip, and he decides to chaperone because there was no way he'd let her go out into the woods alone, even if it was with teachers who carry out the expedition yearly.
On day two, the students break off into groups to complete tasks, and he's somehow led the group off the trail. He feels miserable and disappointed in himself for not only leading his group of affectionately named "delinquents" astray, but that his mistake causes his baby sister to injure her ankle, possibly ruining whatever's left of her trip.
Somehow, she manages to continue smiling, and while on his back, she gets to group back on track, albeit two hours late. And it is then that he knows, that nothing is impossible with her by his side.
10. She's the best thing that you'll ever have.
All his memories are filled with her. His life only began the day she was born, and he wouldn't have it any other way. His sister is his life, she's the best thing he'll ever have.
She's the best thing anyone will ever have.
He walks her down the aisle, and places her hand in that of her lover's.
"She'll love you, if you love her like that." He tells the groom, patting him on the shoulder, before stepping aside, allowing the ceremony to begin.
And this has been an AngelFanfics productions.
