"Thank you, have a nice day." Kurt picked up his lunch tray, making his way to his usual table. He'd only been attending Dalton Academy for about a month now, but it felt like ages. There were days when he missed his friends at McKinley High, but deep down he knew this was where he was meant to be. Just as he was about to sit down, someone spoke.

"Hey, it's Kurt, right?"

Kurt turned around to find an unfamiliar boy facing him. He didn't recognize him from glee club- this guy looked like he was involved in athletics. Kurt gulped, fear rising within him due to habit. He told himself to calm down- this school was different. People accepted him here, and there was nothing to worry about. He pushed these feelings down before offering a smile. "Yes, that's me. Do I know you?"

The boy shook his head. "No, I don't think so... I'm on the welcoming committee here at Dalton. I just wanted to finally say hi to you. Sorry it's taken me so long, we've had a ton of transfers this year." He reached out his hand. "I'm Ben. Ben Hayes."

Kurt hesitated for only a second before shaking his hand. "Nice to meet you, I'm Kurt Hummel."

"Hummel?" Ben said it like a question, smiling a little.

"Yes..." Kurt stood there awkwardly, unsure of what to say. "Is there a problem?"

"No! Sorry." Ben cleared his throat, reaching down to straighten his tie. "I've heard a lot about you, that's all. My friend Blaine is in the glee club with you, and he talks a lot... from what I understand you two are a thing now."

Kurt blinked, shocked. "Um... We... No, we're just friends."

"Oh okay, sorry to jump to conclusions. He just made it sound like you were more than that... just forget I said anything!" Ben smiled once more. "Well, see you around Kurt Hummel."

Kurt watched as he walked away, frozen. Why did Ben think him and Blaine were a couple? Was it because they were both gay? Or maybe someone had started a rumor? He shook these thoughts from his head before picking his lunch tray back up and dropping it in the trash. Suddenly he wasn't so hungry anymore.

Kurt pulled open a drawer in the chest, carefully flipping through the music books. Ever since he'd lost the solo in regionals, he'd been rummaging through anything he can find to be better prepared for the next time. Just as he was about to go home for the day, the library door opened and he ran straight into someone.

"Whoa, sorry Kurt! I wasn't looking where I was going." A familiar voice said, bending down to help pick up the books on the ground.

Kurt tried his best to avoid making eye contact with Blaine. "It's okay. Thank you."

Blaine raised an eyebrow, confused. "Is... everything okay? You look kind of flustered."

"Everything's fine, I'm just trying to find some new songs to learn."

Blaine smiled. "Well, I'm sure you'll be great no matter what you sing." He nodded to one of the books at the top of the stack. "Tracy Holmes. There are lots of good romance pieces in there."

Kurt nodded nervously. Since when did talking to Blaine make him nervous? They were friends, and that was it. But for some reason he still felt weird. Something was off. "Blaine? Can I ask you something?" Kurt blurted.

"Yeah, sure. What's up?" Blaine asked, concern in his voice.

Kurt took a deep breath. It was now or never. "Someone named Ben approached me in the cafeteria today. He said that he knew you and that..." he blushed, turning away.

"That what?" Blaine asked. "Kurt, you're scaring me."

"He said that you told him we were a couple." There. He'd said it. Kurt stared at the floor, unable to make eye contact.

Blaine sighed, flopping down on a couch. "Kurt? Can you sit down?"

Kurt awkwardly sat next to Blaine, worried about what he was going to say next.

Blaine took a deep breath before beginning. "Ben tends to... exaggerate things. The truth is, I told him..." he trailed off, and Kurt could see him fidgeting out of the corner of his eye. "I told him that I like you. He must've twisted my words around and I'm so sorry it confused you, I just... the bottom line is I have a crush on you. I wanted to tell you, but I was afraid you wouldn't feel the same way."

There was a long stretch of silence. Finally, Kurt looked up. He couldn't believe it- Blaine liked him. He liked him. It all made sense now, why Ben got confused and why whenever they hung out Blaine always doused him in compliments.

Blaine cleared his throat quietly. "Kurt? Can you say something? Anything."

Kurt offered a timid smile, scooting closer. "Blaine... I like you too."

"You... you do?" Blaine asked, surprised.

"Yes. As soon as I met you I was attracted to you... Heck, I liked you even before you told me you were gay."

Blaine gave a small smile, carefully lacing Kurt's fingers with his own. They stared at each other for a while, the chemistry between them undeniable. Neither of them had ever been in a serious relationship before, and it was exciting but nerve wracking at the same time. Blaine couldn't stop looking at those eyes, those lips. He'd never wanted anything as badly as he did right now. "Kurt, can I... kiss you?"

"I thought you'd never ask." Kurt teased.

Suddenly, their lips were touching. It was like nothing either of them could have ever imagined. It was gentle, yet so intimate at the same time. Blaine's hand cupped Kurt's face, while Kurt's hands intertwined with Blaine's hair. They couldn't keep their hands off of each other, both wanting more. When they finally broke away, they were both flustered.

Kurt let out a breath he didn't know he'd been holding. "Blaine? Do you want to go out sometime?"

"Of course I do!" He leaned in again, resuming their make out session.

Suddenly, Kurt felt his phone buzz in his pocket. He broke away and took it out, his face falling. "Ugh, I have to go. Carole's almost done making dinner."

"I wish we could hang out some more." Blaine sighed, a look of disappointment on his face. "I'll miss your kisses."

Kurt rolled his eyes, a smile playing on his lips. "We'll do it again soon, you'll just have to be patient." He leaned in once more, giving Blaine a final peck. "I'll see you tomorrow."

Blaine smiled. "I'll see you then."

Kurt grabbed his stuff and left, the tingling feeling on his lips still remaining, a constant reminder of his first kiss with the boy of his dreams.

"How was school today boys?" Carole asked, spooning vegetables onto her plate. "Any glee performances coming up?"

"Not really, no." Finn took a bite of potatoes, swallowing them in one gulp. "Mr. Shu is making us listen to a ton of Taylor Swift songs so we'll be ready to start practicing one for nationals."

"That sounds fun, don't you think Kurt?" Burt turned to his son, who hadn't said a word since dinner began.

"Yes, dad. Everyone knows that Taylor is an icon." Kurt poked at his chicken, eyes on his plate.

"Why aren't you eating? Are you sick?" Carole stood, suddenly concerned. "Let me grab the thermometer."

"No, I'm fine. Sorry, I'm just not hungry." Kurt pushed back his chair and stood quickly. "May I be excused?"

Burt walked over to his son, placing his hands on his shoulders. He lowered his voice and lifted Kurt's chin, forcing him to look him in the eye. "Are you sure you're okay? You know you can always come to me if you wanna talk."

"Yes, I know. And I'm fine." Kurt offered a smile before heading upstairs.

Finn cleared his throat, nodding towards his empty plate. "Thanks for dinner, mom. I should probably go start my homework."

"Yes of course, sweetie."

Finn grabbed his backpack from the hallway and made his way to his room, stopping at Kurt's closed door. Setting his stuff on the floor, he knocked. The door swung open, and Kurt was standing there, a look of surprise on his face.

"Finn? Why are you here? Do you need something?"

Finn shook his head, feeling more awkward than ever before. "No, I want to talk to you."

Kurt paused before stepping aside.

Finn had probably only come into Kurt's room twice- once because he needed toilet paper and another time to get an opinion on which tie to wear. Now that he was actually in the room, he could see why Kurt had chosen the decor he had. The walls were practically glowing, and everything was neat and in its place. Finn gingerly sat on the bed, eyes focused on a spiderweb in the corner.

Kurt began folding his laundry, the awkwardness between them lingering in the air. Finally Finn spoke.

"I know why you're acting weird."

Kurt paused, his cheeks warming. "What do you mean? I'm not acting weird."

Finn rolled his eyes. "Dude, I recognize the look on your face. I've made out with plenty of girls you know."

"I don't have a look on my face." Kurt lied.

"We're brothers now, Kurt. These are the types of things we're supposed to talk about."

Kurt studied a button down, frowning at a wrinkle in the corner of it. "Step brothers. There's a difference."

"Fine, whatever. But I know that you kissed Blaine."

Kurt sighed, turning to face him. "Okay fine. We kissed. Why do you care so much?"

"I don't, I just wanted to congratulate you." Finn shrugged his shoulders, a half smile on his face. "So... what was it like? The kissing?"

Kurt sat down on the bed next to Finn, all of his feelings from earlier rushing back to him. "It was amazing. I knew it would be, but there's something so magical about it once you finally do it, you know?"

"Yeah, I do." Finn was quiet for a moment. "Kurt, I wanted to apologize. I don't know why I didn't stand up for you during all that stuff that was happening. I haven't been good to you."

Kurt didn't know what to say. He knew Finn was sorry, but hearing him say those words was so refreshing. "Finn, it's okay. That was a while ago, and I understand why you didn't speak up."

Finn wiped at his eyes. He wasn't sure why he was crying, but he was. "I'm going to make it up to you. I'm going to be the best brother I can possibly be for you."

"And I'll do the same for you." Kurt hugged him, a smile on his face. "Oh, and while we're on the topic of being good brothers..." He reached over to his makeup table and handed Finn a bottle. "I got you some moisturizer. I'm not sure if you noticed, but that big pimple has been on your chin for almost a week. This will get rid of it super quick."

Finn smirked, taking the bottle. "Wow, I'm flattered. Thank you."

"Anytime, I know my skincare." Kurt winked, and they both burst out laughing.

So… that's the first chapter! I have no idea who Ben is, I just needed another character ahaha

Be sure to leave a review and tell me what you think, it'd be very appreciated. I wanted to add a little brotherly love to the end, hence the moisturizer xD

Lmk if I should post the next part or not!
