Chapter 1: The New Owlet Temp. Two New Demon in Imp City
Imp City, a place somewhere in the pits of Hell where the city is mostly populated by Imps. Of course, there are also some Sinners, Hellhounds, and Scubbi, and other kinds of demons that live there. But today, the demons of Imp City are going to have two new residents who are entering the city from the limit.
The first one is a female owl demon around fourteen years old, and her body is covered with dark blue color feathers and black tips on the ends of her feathers a little over shoulder length to be in a black hair tie, a white face and the tip of her beak is black with a pink stripe. She also has two pairs of crimson red color eyes, the top one is more narrow than the one on the bottom. She also has large tail feathers that are also dark blue and black at the ends.
She was wearing a black, red, and white pleated long sleeve shirt, a brown vest, brown cowboy hat on her head, and a pair of holes for her narrow eyes. Around her neck is a red bandana. She is also wearing dark blue, with black cowboy boots with red markings on it, and a brown belt with a silver buckle around her waist with belt bags on each side. The left pocket has a firearm while the other has a knife. She also has a lasso attached to her belt as well.
The second one is a young Imp boy, around eight years old. The boy is crimson red with white freckles on his face. Yellow eyes and black pupils. He also has shaggy short dark color hair with a pair of spiral black and white striped horns.
The young boy is wearing a black cowboy hat, with a green collar, rolled up sleeve shirt, with a dark brown vest, around his neck is a black neck tie with a clip on it. He also wears black pants with a brown belt and it has a rope attached to it as well. He is also wearing brown pants and black and red boots.
Each of the two are carrying two bags that are possibly filled with their luggage. The owl girl has a guitar on her back as well.
The owl girl looks around as she says, "Tarnation, so this here is Imp City. It surely looks bigger than at home, right Roy."
"Yeah. I can't believe we're finally here, Amara. I've always wanted to visit the big city," The young Imp boy, Roy says.
"Have to agree. It's been a long time, but we finally made it," Amara says.
"Yeah. But it's still rather hard since ma and pa are gone, and our farm, well, you know," Roy says, sounding rather sad.
Amara shows a sad smile, "Yes. It's hard since our parents were killed. We still need to make the best of it. We should find a place to stay before it gets dark."
Little Roy nods his head and the two continue to walk into the city to find a place for them to live. The two continue to search for a place to stay, but with little money they have, they think the best thing to do is to find an abandoned building. Soon enough, they are standing in front of an old building. By the appearance of the building and with a large window, it's known that the place used to be a store or a cafe. Of course, the windows, the door, and other places are boarded up.
"Hmm, I think this place will do," Amara says.
Amara then places her things on the ground. She then begins to pull the boards from the door. Roy watches their things as he sees his sister removing the nailed up boards from the door. Finally, Amara finishes pulling away the boards.
"There. Let's go inside," Amara says.
Amara and Roy pick up their bags and walk inside the building. When they enter the building, they see the place is old, dusty, and practically covered in cobwebs. There are a few chairs and tables, along with a counter that looks like a bar. There were a few shelves, and a counter behind it as well. They look around to see the place even has a kitchen, and a male and female restroom.
"Hey sis, what do you think this place is?" Roy asks.
"Well, this could be an old cafe or coffee shop before it was closed down. "I'll go look up stairs," Amara says.
Amara then begins to walk up the stairs.
"I'll come too," Roy says, and follows.
The two walk up the stairs to find a door. When they open, they come across a hallway. They look inside to see two to three bedrooms, a restroom with a tub, shower and a sink, a small kitchen, and a storage closet.
"Wow! This place is bigger than our farm," Roy says.
"It's maybe a bit run down, but I think we can make it work," Amara says.
"Yeah. Maybe we can open a cafe or something here," Roy says.
"That does sound like a good idea, but we need money for supplies, food, and other essentials. It will be best for me to find a suitable job to help pay for clothes, food, and other needs," Amara says.
"Okay," Roy says, then lets out a yawn.
"I think it will be best for you to get to bed after all that traveling," Amara says and leaves the room together with their belongings.
Sometime later, Amara and Roy decide to stay in the same room for the night. Course, they decide to have separate rooms for them to sleep, and will decide what to do with the third room. Later in the night, well as night Hell can get. Amara is sleeping in her sleeping bag when she feels a tap on her cheek. She wakes up to see Roy up.
"Roy, you're supposed to be asleep," Amara says, and yawns as she covers her mouth.
"Sorry sis, but I can't sleep," Roy sadly says.
Seeing the sad expression, Amara can guess, "You miss ma and pa, huh?"
Roy answers with a nod.
Amara sits up and places Roy on his lap. Then gives him a hug.
"I know. I miss them too. Still can't believe that it's already been a whole year since they're gone. I know our parents will want us to do the best we can to survive," Amara says.
Roy sadly nods his head.
Then asks, "Can you um, play music with your guitar? To um, help me sleep."
Amara smiles and nods her head. She then brings out her guitar and begins to play the instrument. Amara continues to play her guitar as lovely music is being played. Roy soon begins to yawn and begins to fall asleep hearing the music. Amara continues to play her guitar as she looks out the window to see the dark sky.
Three Months Later
Through those months, Amara has been trying to find a job to support herself and her little brother. Sadly, every job she has tried to apply either refused or rejected her. She never was able to find out why. Either way, it feels that she isn't going to be able to find a job on her own, so the best she can do is to use her own talents to get by.
Since she isn't able to find a job, she uses her own skills to work on the street. Specifically, Amara has to become a street performer. She plays her music with her guitar, she performs magic with Roy as an assistant. She also performs dance routines and a combat routine, along uses her telekinesis, wind making abilities, flight, and uses magical feathers. She even uses her firearms to shoot bottles launched in the air, and her lasso. Anything to help her earn some money on the street.
One day, Amara is playing her guitar on the street close to the home where she and Roy are living. Roy is sitting on the bench as he listens to Amara play the guitar, and soon begins to sing.
Amara:
Before the sun comes up
You gotta start your rocket boosters
Rise and shine, I'm feelin' fine
Wake up, Mr. Rooster
The early bird gets the worm
The sunrise makes me squirm
Amara continues to play as she sings. Roy smiles to hear his sister sing as he moves his head from side to side.
Amara:
Oh, keepin' busy is keepin' good
Keep on goin' just like you should
Soon, some of the Imps and other demons hear the music and walk over to see her perform.
Amara:
Call me crazy, misunderstood
But you won't hear me complain
Some of the sinners toss some of their loose changes into Amara's hand that is in front of her.
Amara:
'Cause I got time to spare
Fun to share
My friends along
A job well done by the break of daaaaawn
Meanwhile, close by there are a pair of Imps who are walking down the sidewalk.
The first one is a female imp. She has red skin with white markings on different parts of her body, her eyes are yellow scleras and black pupils, and has long black eyelashes. She has black horns with three thin stripes, and greyish-black hair worn in a messy bob style. She also has a beauty mark on her left cheek, a black heart tattoo on her left shoulder. and has a gap between her front teeth. She is wearing a cold shoulder back crop top with gold buttons, torn pants, fingerless black gloves, black footwear, black torn pants, and a black choker.
The second Imp is male with red skin and white freckles on his cheeks. His white pointy hair leads up to his curvy black and white striped horns. He also has yellow sclera with black slit pupils, a long red thin tail with a quadrilateral barb at the end, as well as lanky digitigrade legs ending in what appears to be cloven red hooves. He is wearing a navy-black coat with red buttons and white cuffs, black pants, a white shirt that has a black turtleneck, a large red bow-tie, and fingerless gloves.
The female Imp happily says, "I told you it was a good idea to go there for lunch, Moxxie."
"Yes Millie, you told me that several times, and the food was good though," The Imp, Moxxie, says.
"Told ya. We should ask Blitz and Loona to come with us next time," The Imp, Millie, happily says.
"I'm not sure about it," Moxxie says.
Suddenly Millie hears something, "Hey Moxxie, do you hear that?"
Moxxie listens as well to hear guitar strumming as well as a singing voice.
"It sounds like a guitar," Moxxie says.
"Let's go check it out," Millie happily says.
She grabs Moxxie's wrist and pulls him down the sidewalk. Soon enough, the two Imps find a small crowd ahead.
Confused, Moxxie asks, "What's going on?"
"I don't know, but somethin' exciting is going on. Let's go check it out," Millie says.
Millie and Moxxie begin to push their way through the small crowd, and to their surprise, they see the young owl demon, Amara, dressed like a western cowgirl playing the guitar. The Owl girl continues to sing."
Amara:
Keepin' busy is keepin' good
Keep on goin' just like you should
Call me crazy, misunderstood
But you won't hear me complain (Yee-haw!)
'Cause I got time to spare
I got fun to share
My friends along
A job well done by the break of dawn
Keepin' busy is keepin' good
Keep on goin' just like you should
Call me crazy, misunderstood
But you won't hear me complain

After the song and guitar playing, many of the imps clap and cheer for the performance, and toss in some coins into the hat. Then many of them leave the area to continue with their hellish lives. Amara walks to her hat and picks it up, but a ten dollar is put into her hat. She then looks up to see the two Imps.
Confused, Amara asks, "Can I help you?"
"Hi. I want to say that you put on one s'well of a performance! You must be very talented!" Millie happily says.
"Um thank you. I've been practicing with my guitar for a long time," Amara says, a little embarrassed.
"I must admit, you seem very talented. Yet, someone of your talent shouldn't be performing on the street," Moxxie says.
Then asks, "And well, it's also surprising to see an Owl demon as well. What's someone like you doing here in Imp City."
"Well, it's kind of a long story. However, I think it will be easier to start with introduction. I'm Amara," Amara says.
Then young Roy comes in, "And I'm her younger brother. My name is Roy."
"Hello Amara. Roy. My name is Millie," Millie happily says.
Then turns to the other Imp, "And this here is my husband, Moxxie."
"It's a pleasure to meet you. Now, about the answer to my question" Moxxie says.
"Right. It's a bit of a long story. In short, my brother and I came here trying to make a fresh start. We found a place for us to live, and perform with my guns, lasso, dancing, singing, and my guitar to get by. Even my brother performs in some shows with me," Amara says.
"Have you thought about applying for a job?" Moxxie asks.
"I did try to apply to some places, but they either refused or rejected me, and also threw a few insults. So instead, I became a street performer to earn some money," Amara says.
"I see. So where are you from?" Millie asks.
"We're both from the Wrath Ring. We used to live there on a farm with our parents. Well, until our parents died..." Roy says, sadly.
"After we lost our parents, we decided to make a fresh start and came to the city," Amara says, also sounding sad.
Moxxie soon says, "I'm sorry to hear that, so you both are orphans."
"That sounds about right," Amara says.
Just then, Millie has an idea, "Hey, how would you like to apply for a job at I.M.P? We've been looking for new recruits, and you seem like you'll be fit for the job."
"Wait, about her qualifications," Moxxie says.
"Well, I know how to use a gun and a lasso. I also know how to wrangle animals back at our family's farm," Amara says.
Millie giggles and says, "Sounds to me that you make a great assassin."
"Assassin, huh? So what does I.M.P do?" Amara asks.
"Why not come with us and find out?" Millie asks happily.
"Sure," Amara says.
After collecting the earnings, Amara and Roy follow Moxxie and Millie to their work. According to Moxxie and Millie, I.M.P or Immediate Murder Professionals is basically an assassination business where they go to the human world and target human beings as a form of assisitng sinners with their unfinished business. Millie also explains that to think of a special book, they have their access to the human world. This piques Amara and Roy's curiosity and can't wait to see what this job is about.
Sometime later, they arrive at a large building, and reach the seventh floor on the elevators. Soon enough, they reach I.M.P Headquarter. They walk inside to see the lobby, and it also counts as a waiting room. At the reception desk is a female hellhound.
She has a dog-like muzzle with sharp and pointy teeth and a dark grey nose, red sclera with white irises, white fur with grey patches on her shoulders, a big bushy tail and voluminous grey hair swept to the side to reveal her ear.
She is wearing a black choker that has white spikes. Her grey crop top has strings shaped like a star to resemble an inverted pentagram to hold it up, fingerless gloves and shorts with a crescent moon cut on the right side, black toeless stockings and is barefoot, and piercing on her right eyebrow and two piercings in her left ear - in addition, her right ear is torn.
The Hellhound appears to be busy on her hellphone. Either playing a game or texting messages
Millie happily says, Hi Loona, we're back. Is the boss in his office?"
The Hellhound, Loona answers, "Yeah."
Then notices the owl demon and the young Imp.
Millie happily introduces them, "Amara. Roy. This is Loona, our receptionist and Blitz's daughter. Loona, this is Amara and you little brother, Roy."
Amara walks up to Loona, "So Loona... you have any hobbies?"
"Not really. So what brings you here?" Loona answers, doesn't seem interested.
"Uh yeah. I'm actually here to apply for a job at the company. I do like to meet your dad to apply," Amara says, feeling awkward.
"Only on paper," Loona mutters.
Then says, "He's in his office right over there."
Then points to the door.
Still feeling awkward, Amara says, "Um thank you."
Amara then kneels to Roy, "Roy, I need you to stay here while I talk to the boss. Okay?"
"Okay," Roy answers with a nod.
Moxxie comes in, "Millie and I will watch over him while you talk to our boss."
"Thanks," Amara says.
Amara then walks to the office door, knowing the boss is in there. She opens the door and walks inside. She looks around to see a desk on the other side of the room.
She soon notices an Imp sleeping on the chair in front of the desk. The imp is a lanky jester-like imp. He has crimson skin with traces of white blotches that cover his right eye, black long, curved, black and white striped horns with black spines on the back of his head. He has a heart shape skull symbol on his forehead.
Amara blinks her eyes, a bit confused to see the boss of I.M.P fast asleep.
The owl girl walks over to the desk and calmly calls out, "Excuse me?"
But the Imp isn't answering.
Amara calmly calls out, "Hello. Can you wake up?"
Yet, the Boss continues to be asleep. Amara is getting kind of annoyed about being unable to get his attention.
"Hmph. Well then, I'll just have to do the one trick that gets my brother up every time," Amara sternly says.
Amara clears her throat, and lets out a loud screech.
That makes Blizo jump up in fright and screams, "Holy Shit!"
He then falls off his chair and to the ground with a thud. Amara peeks over the desk to see Blitz is laying on his back on the ground as he rubs his head in pain.
Then the imp angrily shouts, "Okay! Who's the stupid fuckin dumb bitch decide to wake me up! It sounds worse than nails on a chalkboard!"
Amara sternly says, "Sorry to disturb nap time, but I needed to talk to you."
Blitz looks up to see Amara is looking over him, looking confused.
Blitz is able to sit up and says, "Urgh! Fine. You didn't have to scream, you know."
"I tried other methods of waking you up, but that's how I got my brother up," Amara says.
"Okay," Blitz says, and sits on the chair of his desk.
Then says, "Anyway... Hi there, I'm Blitz, the o is silent and welcome to I.M.P. What can I do for you today, Miss...?"
"I'm Amara, it's a pleasure to meet you, Blitz. Sorry about waking you from your nap," Amara says.
"Yeah. So, what can I do for you? Do you need someone from the living world to be killed? Are you a piece of shit that got yourself sent to hell or are you an innocent soul who got fucked over by someone else!?" Blitz questions.
"Uh no. Actually, I'm here to apply for a job at your company," Amara says.
"Really? Well, do you have experience with assassinations or maybe good use with weapons?" Blitz asks.
"Not with assassination, but I do take down hogs and other animals needed for food at my family's farm. I've had good experience with using a rope, knife, and guns thanks to my dad," Amara says.
"Sounds to me like you got a good head on your shoulders. How old are you, I have to assume you're rather young," Blitz says.
"I'm fourteen years old. I hope it won't be a problem," Amara says.
"It's no problem at all... if you think you can handle it," Blitz says.
Amara grins, "I know I handle this. I handle a lot while living in the Wrath Ring."
"Great! You're hired!" Blitz shouts, eagerly.
Back in the lobby, Millie and Moxxie are keeping Roy entertained by playing a board game with him while Loona is typing on her hellphone. That's when Blitz and Amara walk out of the office.
"Hey guys, meet Amara, the news member of our team and our family," Blitz says.
"Family?" Amara says, confused.
"We aren't a family, sir. I told you this before, you're the boss, we are the employees," Moxxie sternly says.
"Yeah yeah," Blitz says, rolling his eyes.
Then notices Roy, "So, who's the squirt?"
"That's my little brother, Roy," Amara says.
Roy waves to Blitz, "Hello."
"An Owl demon and an Imp are siblings? What is one of your parents an Imp and another perverted owl?" Blitz question, sounding annoyed.
"Perverted owl?" Amara says, confused.
"It's nothing," Blitz says.
Amara says, awkward, "Okay. To be honest, both of my parents are Imps. They found me when I was two years old and have been raised by them ever since. Roy was born years later."
"Oh, so you're adopted then?" Millie asks, confused.
"That's right. We used to live at our farm until... until the incident..." And sounds sad at the statement.
"You mentioned that your parents died? What happened?" Moxxie asks.
"To be honest, I'm still unsure about it myself. A year ago, a group Imps invaded our homes, and attacked us one night. Our parents were able to hide us in the secret room in our home. Only we know about it. Sadly, when the invasion was over, our parents were laying dead. We don't know who they are or what they want, but we decided to leave to start our life. We had to sell our animals and our home was too destroyed to live there. Plus, I feared that whoever the Imps are will come back. So we moved out and left with little money we had to find a new place to live and start a new life. Since then it's just been my brother and myself," Amara explains.
"That sounds awful," Millie says.
"It was. We've been traveling for some time, trying to do the best we can. I even started becoming a street performer when we came to the city," Amara explains.
"And she's amazing. A lot of Imps like her shows, I still don't get why anyone wouldn't hire her when she applied for the jobs she tried to get," Roy says.
"Well, you don't need to worry about working on the street cause you're with us now," Blitz says.
Then Moxxie says, "I think it will be best that you should stay with one of us. It feels deeply upsetting to let two children live on their own."
"Really? Are you sure?" Amara asks, confused and concerned.
"Of course we're sure. You can stay at our place. We have an extra room for you to sleep in," Millie happily says.
"Um okay," Amara says.
"Sure," Roy happily says.
Later in the night, well, as night Hell can be, Amara and Roy are able to gather their belongings and they move in with Moxxie and Millie's apartment. Moxxie opens the door to the guest room and the young demons walk inside.
"I know it's not much, there's mostly one large bed here, but I think it's roomy enough for you two," Moxxie says.
Amara and Roy look around the room. There is only one large bed, and it has a desk next to it with a lamp and one closet.
"I think we can make it work," Amara says.
Roy runs in the room and hops on the bed with laughter. Amara laughs as well.
Millie giggles and says, "Well, it looks like we're going to get along just fine."
Amara smiles and is actually glad to have met and began to work at I.M.P. Amara feels that her left is not going to be the same after this. She's going to start her new line in her life, an assassin for I.M.P.
