Prologue

Breathing heavily, Cole was helping an injured researcher to a safe place, Naomi, who had been with him since day one of his resurrection. Keeping the pistol, he had in hand at the ready if he needed to shoot someone or something as he carried Naomi to the back from the lobby where the nap room was located. Cole would have to keep her there until they were ready to move to the cable car. It would be dangerous for both of them if he took her with him as he searched the facility for the G-Virus sample; if Umbrella were to be taken down, they would need all the evidence they could get. The G-Virus sample was plenty evidence enough, not sure where Claire or Leon were as he helped them individually to access the facility. Fairly sure that neither would succeed had it not been for his help. When he reached the hallway where the nap room was located, he aimed his gun at a single zombie roaming near the space Cole needed access. Without even blinking or concentrating, he fired, piercing the zombie's skull with a single bullet and watching as the zombie slumped to the ground. A pool of blood forming from the gunshot wound, carrying Naomi cautiously toward the room. He aimed and fired once more for good measure to make sure the bastard didn't get back up. He didn't fancy a close combat situation, not when time was not on his side. Upon getting closer, the door slid open, allowing access into the room where four beds awaited, a dead zombie on the ground at his feet, of which its execution was not his own, must have been Claire or Leon that had dealt with this one.

Carefully, Cole placed Naomi in the bed as to not aggravate the wound on her arm, three long gashes thanks to the licker they had encountered. Cole had bandaged it up the best he could with the bit of material he could find. After that, he knelt so he could be somewhat at eye level with her.

"I don't understand; why did you jump in front of that licker to prevent me from being injured? You know the wound would've instantly healed, or did you forget my accelerated healing factor?" Cole asked as concern filled his eyes for the only friend he managed to make during this whole thing, ever since day one when he was brought back to life. When Cole saw her reach for his hand, he took it and waited for a good reason as to why she would risk her life to save his. Naomi smiled at him before answering.

"Because you are worth saving, Cole" Naomi answered as she winced at the pain in her arm and took a couple of seconds before she continued.

Cole smiled, though his memory was crap right now she was the only friend he had since he was brought back from the brink of death, he couldn't recall most of his memories while pledging his loyalty to Umbrella but since encountering Jill and Claire in the city some pieces of his memory seemed to come back but he was still oblivious to most of his past.

"Though I work for Umbrella, I don't have the same ambitions it seems that everyone else in this twisted company has, I joined Umbrella's ranks under the impression that I would be doing good in the world but once I discovered what they were really doing I lost my faith in them but if I was to try and stop them or expose them I feared my life would be threatened along with the lives of those I care about" Naomi explained as tears started in her eyes.

After wiping her tears away, she continued. "You're the only friend I've managed to make since working for them, the only person I could confidently talk to without fear of being laughed at or told I'm just a little girl in the wrong profession" Naomi admitted.

Cole shook his head. "Well, I've gotten the chance to know you and that just drives me more to save you, that way we can continue to be friends and if Umbrella comes after you, then I will protect you, you have to believe that we just have to make it out alive to expose them for the monsters they really are" Cole held her hand in his and smiled.

"Listen, I can't exactly get mad at you, I have the weird sense of telling when someone is being sincere or when they are being full of shit, you're not like that. Naomi, I can tell that what Umbrella is doing, what they have done and what they plan to do just unsettles you."

Suddenly there was a violent shake, and soon alarms were blaring. From what Cole could make of the automated voice over the alarm, a self-destruct sequence had been activated with no chance of canceling it, and things had just got complicated. Cole looked back at Naomi. "Just wait here, I'm going to go get the sample, and then me and you are escaping from the city," he said with determination written on his face. Cole stood up, checking his gear; the sword he had was held tightly in the sheath on his back, checking the magazine in his gun. He had thirteen bullets left, and his shotgun which he held on his back, was fully loaded, and he had spare ammo for both guns. Before he could turn around, Naomi had managed to get to her feet and walked over, and before Cole could react.

"You have to make this right, and Umbrella has to pay for what they've done. Forget about me; we both know without the vaccine to this…" Naomi started as she looked at her injured arm, which was beginning to bleed through the bandage. "…I'm only a liability, and it will catch up to me. This is my punishment for being involved with this whole thing, now go, live."

Naomi started to push him toward the door, and when it opened, she pushed him through, making him trip over the dead zombie on the floor. "Goodbye, Cole" Naomi hit the control panel on the side, and the door slid shut and locked. Cole hurried to his feet and went to the door, but it didn't open. "Naomi! Please don't do this; there's still time, we can find a way to save you! Come on! Open the fucking door, Naomi!" but his pleas went unanswered, not even after he tried again. He rested his head against the door. "Naomi, please, how am I supposed to piece my life together if I don't have you?" Cole said but still no answer, and finally, he came up off the door and placing his hand against it. "I'll make them pay for this, for what happened to you."

Note: This story will be a somewhat retelling of the events in Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil 2, and Resident Evil 3 from Cole's perspective. I omitted Resident Evil from the story because Cole died midway through the events of RE0. And I will be taking into account the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 rather than the original since they will fit the narrative better since it is a retelling.

Fun Fact #1: Alice was the inspiration for what happens to Cole after being brought back from the dead. Instead of the T-Virus causing mutations to his body, his very DNA bonded with the T-Virus, creating the first super-soldier if you will without flaws and or changes to his body. He is granted accelerated healing, speed, strength, and stamina much like Alice in the live-action movies, do note that is the only thing Alice inspired about my OC Cole, everything else is of my own creation as Cole despite memory loss still retained his personality traits though some changed a bit.
