"You're gonna be my date for prom and then just lean on the wall like a Jughead covered in staples all night?" Jaclyn pouted at her boyfriend and leaned against the wall next to him. "Come on, even Corinne is dancing! And she thinks she dances like a mom from the fifties." She fidgeted with his hand and glanced out at her friends having a good time. "Pleeeeaaase Touya! Just one dance and I'll be happy." The black haired senior pleaded in a whisper. Dabi sighed at his girlfriend displaying her best puppy dog eyes. "You promise you won't care if people stare at us?" He asked.
Jaclyn searched for Avelyn in the crowd, sitting at one of the tables and reading a book. Her brunette friend popped her head up and flashed a supportive smile. "If anyone rubs you the wrong way, I solemnly swear that Ava will drop kick them to your heart's desire. Besides, you're Dabi! You never care about what people think about you in the first place! And that's one of the reasons I love you so much-" Dabi interrupted her with a passionate kiss. His calloused hands pulling her in front of him as she wrapped her arms around his neck. Jaclyn jumped and took this opportunity to wrap her legs around his waist from under her long, flowy purple dress.
"Sometimes I still can't believe that you love me. You deserve someone better than me, princess." Dabi murmured into the crook of her neck. "Nuuuu babes! You're perfect just the way you are, okay? I love you so so so much." Jaclyn crooned back affectionately. "That's unironically the way I think of you. You don't need to change anything about yourself either-"
"We have our first song request of the night! And ooh, it's a slow song! So you know what that means! Grab that special someone, drag them onto the dance floor and hold them closer than ever before-" The DJ chirped in ecstatics as a song by Taylor Swift came to a close. "But no canoodling, I'm watching you crazy kids." The old principal everyone called All for One interrupted and took the mic from the DJ, earning some chuckles and groans. "I'd rather ask Toga to stab me than dance to a slow song. Are you sure you want to, princess-" He lied playfully as the song started to play. "Yes, I'm sure. I haven't been more sure of anything in a long, long time-" Jaclyn gushed with sentiment flooding her voice. They actually played my request. Dabi thought to himself in shock.
For the way you changed my plans,
For being the perfect distraction,
For the way you took the idea that I had,
Jaclyn recognized the song right away. "Wait...no way... There's no way they'd play this song here! I-I can't believe it! My-my favorite childhood love song...is playing at my senior prom! Right now! How the-" Touya took a glimpse at the dj and smirked at him with approval.
Of everything that I wanted to have,
You made me see there was something missing...
Her boyfriend gently let her down and stopped pressing her against the wall. "So, can I have this dance, princess?" He asked softly near her ear. His lips pressed against her neck. "Yes..." His girlfriend squeaked excitedly. Jaclyn felt her dark brown eyes start to water with overwhelming joy and nostalgia. Hopefully he didn't notice. She thought as she realized she was living a moment she always wanted. Little did she know Touya was admiring her awestruck expression as they headed to the dance floor.
Oh yeah,
For the ending of my beginning,
For the rare and unexpected friend
For the way you're something I'd never choose,
But at same time something I don't wanna lose
And never wanna be without ever again...
Jaclyn giggled as he pushed some of the couples dancing out of their way. The ravenette's cheeks burned up as she wrapped her arms around his neck. Dabi gently squeezed her hand as their fingers naturally intertwined. "You're so fucking cute, princess. I didn't know this song meant so much to you-" Touya murmured, holding her close with his arms around her waist. "I saw you smirk at the dj just now. What was that? What aren't you telling me, Touya? Are you-" She interrupted him in a whisper. "You ask so many questions, Jaclyn. Just...just enjoy this for me. It's cheesy as fuck but...I wouldn't want it any other way if it makes you that happy." Her boyfriend interrupted sentimentally. Being really romantic wasn't normal at all for Touya Todoroki. She loved it anyway, feeling undeniably lucky that they felt the same way about each other.
You're the best thing I never knew I needed,
So when you are here,
I had no idea,
Jaclyn frowned slightly. "Touya, people are staring..." She mumbled hesitantly. "Fuck them all, princess. They're just jealous we look better than them, don't worry about it." Touya answered, trying to make his voice as soothing as possible. "Thanks, I needed that. I was thinking...maybe we could go to the 7/11 nearby after?" His girlfriend suggested cheerfully, tuning out all the staring from some of the other couples. "Damn, you and your 7/11 obsession. I don't get it at all." Dabi teased, "But sure. Whatever you want, princess." Jaclyn smiled and closed her eyes as more cheery tears fell down her cheeks. "Why are you closing your eyes?" He raised an eyebrow as she pressed her forehead against his chest. "So I never forget what feeling loved romantically is like. You're the best thing I never knew I needed. I love you so much for that and more, Touya." His girlfriend murmured. "You cheesy little mouse. I love you too, Jaclyn." Touya replied with just as much sincerity as they swayed slowly to the sound of Ne-Yo's voice.
You're the best thing I never knew I needed,
Now it's so clear,
I need you here always
"Damn, do I really owe you five bucks?" Sarah Green whined to Avelyn Vinshkov as the two, along with the rest of their girl friends watched Jaclyn and Touya dancing romantically among the other couples. "Only when they kiss." Ava smirked. "If they fuck after this, all of you owe me twenties." Emily Tilles chimed in zealously. "Uh uh!" Corinne pouted sourly. "Absolutely not! I'm a college student, remember?! I barely have enough money to pay for tuition and ramen!" Brenda Jing sassed dramatically in disagreement. "All of you are being so excessive, can't we just watch them be cute in silence? I smuggled Sour Patch Kids in for a reason. Besides, the punch is probably spiked, but All for One is too lazy to check." Rosaliá Cortéz insisted stiffly. "Fine." The others agreed. "They are fucking cute though." Ava muttered absentmindedly, which the other girls responded with nods of approval.
