Chapter 1
Welcome all to the new story of wolves and coyotes. Animagi, love, break, lies, deceat, adventure, mysteries, magic, and more! Thank you for stopping by and hope you like it!
Dear Miss. Hermione Granger,
Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry is proud to announce the start of term on the 1st of September. Hogwarts is fully rebuilt and restaffed. All remaining previous 7th years are granted permission to return for an added on 8th year. If you choose to accept this letter, we will require your owl back no later than the 31st of August. Miss. Hermione Granger, you have been granted the position of Head Girl if you choose to accept. The rest of your information for the required material and badge with instructions are included in the envelope. We hope to hear back from you.
Sincerely, Headmistress Minerva McGonagall
Hermione stared at the letter in her hands for a while just letting the information sink in. She was allowed the chance back at Hogwarts to continue her education and become Head Girl? She was so going to take this opportunity by the horns and not let go. Hermione quickly checked the envelope to skim through the material list and straight to the Head Girl instructions. When she was finished, Hermione speedily wrote her friends, questioning if they were going to accept as well and if they wanted to meet up in Diagon Alley for shopping.
Harry and Ron replied they were already accepted straight into the Aurors program and would be starting training immediately, Luna was taking over her fathers Quibbler, Neville was opening a plant shop, and Dean and Seamus had gotten hired at WWW to help out George so it was just going to be her and Ginny.
"Hermione!"
"Hey, Gin!" Hermione called out as she caught her redhead friend that was launching herself at Hermione. Ginny and Hermione decided the next week after they received their letters was the perfect time to go shopping for their necessities. The crazed worried parents were gone from the madness of shopping early and the rushed late shoppers wouldn't be coming for another few weeks.
"I was quite surprised that Neville didn't want to just go ahead and come back." Ginny confided to her brunette friend as they entered the animal store
"You know he loves his plants, Gin. I'm just glad he's happy again." Hermione answered as she and Ginny traveled through the store. Animals and creatures here and there would catch her eye, but not like what she felt like she was there for.
"Yes I'm happy he's happy, but I'm just saying that I'm shocked he passed up an extra year to excel in Herbology and be around Professor Sprout." Ginny responded as she knelt down to play with a pygmy puff.
"Well why would he stay and only have a class period a day with plants when he could spend his days among them?" Hermione questioned her friend while she petted the back of a Great Horned owl.
"You make a very valid point my friend." Ginny called back as she stood up and noticed that Hermione had stopped looking through the store and was focused on one spot in particular.
"Herms?" Ginny asked as she walked over to her friend
"It's perfect." Hermione said in awe as she stared at the magical creature before her.
"That's an understatement." Ginny replied as she too was lost in the eyes of this feathered animal.
In front of the two friends was the prettiest barn owl the two had ever seen. The white feathers around its face formed the perfect heart shape. Unusual to any kind of owl, this birds eyes were a bright, shining blue that seemed to stare into your soul and trap you in their roaming colors. The body of the owl was a beautiful medallion gold color while the wins were the same and spotted with black dots that formed what appeared to be hearts.
"She seems to like you." Came a deep, friendly voice from behind the two girls, snapping them out of their trance.
"Oh, Hello." Hermione politely replied to the owner of the shop. He was a friendly looking older gentleman with smile wrinkles at his eyes, light brown eyes, and the comforting mustache and beard that only grandfathers can pull off. Everything about the man just screamed happy and light.
"This is the most stubborn bird I have ever seen." The man said as he gestured to the barn-owl sitting on its perch on the wall. "She doesn't take well to people being around her. I've tried to sell her five times in the last three months I've had her, yet she never allows the people to come near her."
"Really? That's weird. She called out to me." Hermione responded as she turned back around to the enigma of an owl
"I'll tell you what, Ma'am. This bird has caused me a lot of issues and won't let me sell her. If she wants to go with you, I will let you take her for free." The man said as he crossed his arms with a smile.
"Oh no sir I couldn't!" Hermione cried out. This was easily a 15 galleon plus bird
"Oh, please. I'm ready to have her out so I can bring in new rescues. You would be doing me a favour." He gently prodded
"Hermione, I think you should seriously consider this." Ginny told her friend as she placed her hand on her shoulder. The owl started flapping her wings and flying up as far as her chain would let her go before coming back down and looking at the people around her.
"Let me just see this." The man announced as he walked over to the bird with a set of keys. The owl instantly calmed down and looked almost expectantly at the moment he unlocked the magical cuff around the birds leg, she immediately flew over and settled on Hermione's shoulder and pressed her face into Hermione's hair almost cooing.
"Well ladies, I think even if you weren't going to take her that she would go with you anyways." Laughed the older man
"Well he was lovely." Ginny said after they left the shop. Hermione had convinced herself to get the owl while Ginny got a new pygmy puff.
"He indeed was. I can't believe she wasn't taken." Hermione replied as she looked to the bird sitting on her shoulder.
"Do you think what he said about her was true? That she wouldn't allow people around her or take her home?" Ginny asked
"I honestly have no idea, Gin. She seems like a very loveable, loyal owl." Hermione responded
"Yes she does, but why would he say something like that if he really wanted you to take her home so badly?" Ginny questioned with a hand to her chin while she thought.
"Gin?"
"Hang on, Mione. I'm thinking."
"But Ginny?"
"Herms give me a sec here."
"But-"
"Hermione! One second please!" Ginny semi-shouted
"Ginny?"
"What?"
"Where's, Powder?" Hermione asked as she lent to one hip and crossed her arms with a pointed look
"What? What are you on about? She's right he-" Ginny started, but cut herself off when she didn't feel Powder her new pygmy puff on her shoulder or her other one
"Where is she?! Oh, Herms! I've had her for a total of 10 minutes and I've already lost her!" Ginny cried as she kept checking both shoulders, the cage, and her purse.
"Hey, Ginny?
"What is it, Hermione? I'm busy!" Ginny frantically called as she continued to look for Powder
"Have you checked your head?" Hermione asked while trying to keep from laughing
"What? No. Why in Merlin's beard would I check my hea-"
"Did you find her?"
"Yes." Ginny grumbled as she picked Powder up from the top of her head and placed her in her cage. "Apparently not everyone's pets can be loyal and not give you a heart attack." Ginny said grouchily as she gave a small glare to Powder while Hermione started cracking up.
"It's not funny, Hermione!" Ginny called as she crossed her arms and tried to look serious, but failed with her pout
"Oh come on, Ginny. That was hilarious!" Hermione cried out as she was laughing
"I can't wait till Aquila flies off randomly." Ginny said as she crossed her arms and turned away from Hermione.
"Oh no you didn't. That is rude!" Hermione gasped as she looked at Ginny in mock horror
"Well it will be payback!" Ginny shouted with her arms thrown up in victory.
"Seeing as how she won't leave my shoulder...I think I'm fine." Hermione said with a smirk
"Oh come on!" Ginny remarked as she kinda violently let her hands fall from the sky and her smile drop to a frown
"Look on the bright side here, Gin…"
"Well?"
"I don't know. I don't actually have anything." Hemione said with a dismissive shrug to a slightly fuming ginny
"Can we just go get the rest of our stuff please?" Ginny said grumpily. "I don't even know why we stopped at the anima emporium first."
"It was your idea."
"Hermione...shut up for a few minutes with the rudeness please." Ginny called with a sour face before her and Hermione headed through the rest of Diagon Alley for their school supplies
And this marks the beginning of the story "Tale of the Wolves and Coyotes". I do hope you enjoyed it! This came to me the other night when i was trying to sleep and couldn't. I was just so full of energy to type. As most will notice, I did take down the story "Slytherin's Princess". The reasons behind this is that the story line was somehow completely screwed up and everything was out of place and didn't make any sense so I took it down and plan to probably revise it in a way, but put up an entirely new series of it.
Anyways, have a lovely day/night and please review!
