Introduction: I will confess that I have had some form of writers block. I have attempted some stories, but then got writers block and couldn't finish them. I needed something to spark my ideas. Well I have come up with one, thanks to reading the Pokémon Academy fanfic. Let me do a group story. I will be taking character suggestions. In terms of characters I want 5 male characters and 5 female characters. Below I will give the basic premise of the story, the template for the submissions, and an example of one of the submissions. This is going to be fun so please get creative with the submissions.

I also want to build a community around this fanfic. The best fanfics have strong communities around it. That is why I wanted to do this fanfic. I thought it would be fun and would lead to a strong community. That is why I decided to use this idea. I want the community around this fanfic to grow naturally. This would be something I am passionate about in terms of writing a fanfic. Having you guys involved would be fun.i want you guys to have input so I am open to all ideas. So please do not be afford to submit a character either by DM or in the replies, I look at both. If I get more submissions than 10 then I will try and work your character in at some point. It may be a minor role at first, but I will work them in at some point.

Submission dates/promise: I hate when a fanfic doesn't update with regularity. So I will make this promise that THIS FANFIC WILL BE UPDATED EVERY WEEK. That is a promise. I will probably update either Thursday/Friday. This will be the regular schedule. I will also let you guys know when I go for a vacation/break.

Premise/background: The Institute is one of the greatest and most renowned universities in the world. It is here that some of the greatest Pokémon trainers learned to hone their craft. The great Galarian champion, Leon, was a product of the Institute. Even Cynthia, one of the greatest champions in modern history, was a product of The Institute. It is reserved for the elite of the elite trainers. It is designed specifically for those trainers that have shown a talent for Pokémon training. Trainers accepted to the Institute must have at least made it to the final battle against their region's champion. Those that have not made it to their region's champion need not apply. Only the elite are allowed to apply for the university. The Institute prides itself on its rich history and the fact that only the best are allowed to attend.

But beneath the surface, The Institute hides a massive secret. A secret that they had been hiding for years. Since The Institute's founding, in fact some believe that The Institute was created to hide whatever secret the government of Avantura were hiding. A secret that if it were to get out would shake what people knew about Pokémon. At least that was what those that had been labeled as "skeptics" had been saying. The Institute, along with the government, had labeled these people as quacks and were not to be trusted. The Institute was there for learning and not some area that hid a secret. Of course this has only increased the amount of skeptics and those that really question the true motivations of The Institute.

The current president of The Institute is a man named Franz Babic. President Babic is the son of the founder of The Institute thus the university has run in his family for years. He prides himself on how far the university has come under his leadership. How he has taken the "Grand Experimemt" and elevated it. The Institute had become the only place to get better as a trainer at least that was how it was sold to the public. This was why he had spent money to not only bring in the best faculty, but the best facilities too. Under Babic's guidance the facilities had transformed into some of the best in the Pokémon world. These facilities were used to bring out the best in the trainers that had been selected to join the University.

Babic demands a cult like devotion to The Institute. This was required not just Of the facility, but the students as well. No one could question the motives of Franz Babic or the university itself. He had expelled numerous students who had dared question the intent of his families' grand project. He had also gotten rid of numerous faculty that had argued with him. Some had nicknamed him, "Franz the Cruel" for his cantankerous behavior. Still the marketing arm of The Institute had cultivated a good image for Franz Babic. That he was a genius at Pokémon training and that The Institute was the way to advance yourself as a trainer. There was no other options.

Location: Zlato, Avantura.(I based this location on Croatia. I have longed for Pokémon to do a Croatian region. Croatia is a unique region both in history and geography. Yes, the students at the Institute will be able to go out and explore the region. They will not be confined to just being in the school. Rather they will go out and explore the region of Avantura. Again Croatia is one of the most unique geographies in the world. It lends itself to being a Pokémon region. So while creating this fanfic, I have several regions in Croatia that will be incorporated into the story. Again, this isn't going to be one of those fanfics where the students just stay at the University and not go out. This fanfic will be about the students interacting with the environment around them. That is why I chose Croatia because that environment would be perfect for exploring and interacting with.

So what about the names? Well they are Croatian. In Croatian, Zlato means gold. Goldenrod City is one of my favorite areas in Pokémon. That is what I want you to picture when you think of Zlato. I chose Zlato because again it ties into Goldenrod City. This would be like the city of Split in Croatia. Lucious history and beautiful sea faring town home to tourists. It is, arguably, the most expensive city in Croatia. Again this ties into the gold in the name as Split is one of the most lavish areas in Europe. Zlato is one of the most lavish and luxurious area in the Pokémon world. It is the capital of this Pokémon region. I just wanted to give you guys the background on the main city of this region.

The name Avantura means adventure in Croatian. This is self explanatory. The characters will be exploring the region at a point during the story. So I thought that going for a region named after the Croatian word for adventure would just fit. Obviously the more the story goes along the more aspects of the area will be shown in the area and the Institute itself. I chose the name The Institute because it conveys a coldness and intrigue that I wanted to convey and you will see why as the story unfolds.

Character Submission guidelines:

Now to get to the fun of this project. Let us talk about the submission requirements. Now let us get some stuff out of the way what now. First thing is first, I will keep accepting submissions for about 10-14 days. This should be plenty of time for those who want to submit a character to submit. This will give me time to write out a few chapters with said submitted characters. If people submit a character after the deadline, I will give it consideration if it completely blows me away. But again the priority will go to the people who submit a character within the time line. That is the fair things to do.

1.The characters can range from ages 17-22. This is usually the ages of students in college so I wanted to keep it realistic in that sense. I will ask if they are freshman, sophomores, juniors, or seniors. Hint: Don't do all freshman characters. This is if you are submitting a trainer for consideration. I WILL be taking applications for professors as well.

2.I will initially limit the submissions to one per person. If need be I will extend this to 2 per person one adult character and one professor application. But that will be in case of emergency.

3.Again I am looking for an even split of 5 male characters and 5 female characters initially. This is in terms of trainers. In terms of adult/professor submissions I do not have a limit.

4.You can either DM me or reply. Either way I will look and get back to you ASAP. I may ask some follow up questions to get a better understanding of the character. This would be a good sign. That means your character is very interesting and I want to learn more about them.

5.Be creative with the character!Try not to give a generic character like Ash Ketchum. The more creative the character the better. I consider them to be like onions, they all have different layers. If your character is just a generic Mary/Gary Stu then it's not going to be selected. I want creative characters.

Pokémon Submission Guidelines:

1.No LEGENDARIES. Most of these characters would not have been able to catch a legendary. I can't have everyone running around trying to have a legendary. Plus that wouldn't make sense. There aren't going to be duplicates of say Kyogre running around. So we can't have duplicate Legendaries in this story. This also applies to mythical as as well.

2.I will allow Semi-Legendaries. It is possible to have multiple, for example, Metagross running around. So that would make sense. Given that the characters would be older than the typical age of characters they will have experience and the ability to have trained these types of Pokémon. However, if you submit a character with a semi legendary they can only have one semi-legendary on their team.

3.In terms of level, I would say that they should be between 40-60. I want to keep this realistic. So by the time the students would be entering the Institute they would have been at this level. Of course Pokémon that are lower than this range would be acceptable. This includes newly born Pokémon or Pokémon that have not fully evolved. 60 is the highest the Pokémon can go as I do not want them to be over leveled. You can only have one trainer character that has a Pokémon at 60. This is for those submitting trainer characters. For those submitting professor character application, they can have Pokémon over 60. However, I will limit the max level to 80.

4.When filling out the application, really think about the characters relationship with their Pokémon. Not everyone is going to have the best relationship with Pokémon. Again, as I said in the character submission section, try and be creative. Explain why a character has the relationship with the Pokémon. What caused this to happen? Be creative and flex your creative juices.
