After what happened in the guild hall. Kazuma disappeared as he ran off without talking to anyone. At first the gang were all laughing but when they woke up in the mansion, Kazuma was nowhere to be seen they were starting to get worried.
However, Wiz and Vanir were talking in their shop.
"Uh, Wiz?"
"Yeah?"
"I may have saw Kazuma go inside a nearby cave…."
Wiz's eyes were suddenly shocked as she heard the news of his disappearance.
"You saw him go in?"
"Uh-huh! He was all muttery and crawly..." Vanir chuckled.
Wiz however was in no laughing mood.
"You stay here. I'll see if I can talk the cat out of the tree."
"You don't want me to watch?"
"I doubt he'll talk to me, but I know he won't talk to us. You stay."
"Aww party pooper…." Vanir faked a sigh although in his head, he had a bad feeling about Kazuma.
After 5 minutes of walking, Wiz finds the cave and goes inside of the cave.
"Kazuma?...Kazuma?" Wiz echos throughout the cave.
She finds Kazuma, crouched in a corner.
"(softly dismissively) Go away." Kazuma didn't even look at her.
"I just wanna talk."
"Well I don't want to talk to you. Or anyone."
Kazuma stands up and faces to Wiz.
"So make like a tree and fuck off."
"(cautiously) I... see you're upset. Can we... talk about why?"
"The hall, they dropped the ball on us and then everyone is supposed to support us and yet they DON'T EVEN show it. I don't wanna go on another adventure! I don't wanna listen to Aqua! I don't wanna get shot at! I don't want to attack other people! I want to chill! I want to sit and chill!" Kazuma looked dead into Wiz's eyes.
"And leave the Devil King to rule?"
"FUCK THE DEVIL KING! I spent half my life dealing with his shit! His ex-generals! His original generals! His, never ending battles! Why can't he just die so I can go home?
Silence.
"I've spent a lot of time looking at quests. Reading reports. Talking to eyewitnesses. They all say the same thing about Kazuma. He's the perverted one, the one who doesn't care about his self image.
"Nailed it." Kazuma smirked.
"Your actions tell a different story. A story of someone who always answers the call. Who always helps his friends and fights for the greater good. I mean, I saw you give Aqua from those giant frogs! You saved her life! I think Vanir is right about you. You care about your friends.
There was an awkward silence until Kazuma walked towards her with an actual smile…. Until, his eyes went red.
"YOU DON'T KNOW THE FIRST THING ABOUT ME, LADY! I HATE AQUA! I HATE MEGUMIN! I HATE EVERYBODY! PRINT THAT IN YOUR FUCKIN' QUESTS!"
Kazuma walks out of the cave without looking back.
The gang were at the guild hall about discuss their next quest while trying not to think about the elephant in the room. Ironically for them, said elephant is approaching them.
Megumin looks at Kazuma.
"...look who's finally graced us with his presence!
Aqua looks furious.
"Where have you been, NEET?!
"...thinking." Kazuma looks at the group.
Luna scoffed behind the counter "
Yeah, right!"
Darkness added to this,
"Thinking about panties although I wouldn't mind that." She secretly moaned.
Kazuma looked at all of them with a smile.
"No, actually I was thinking that...I quit."
Megumin was confused but sightly scared at the implications of what he just said.
"…Quit what?
"You. All of you. I quit. I'm not doing another quest. I'm staying in my mansion."
Aqua was raging at this point.
"What?! You can't quit! That's not allowed!"
"I can do whatever I want, I don't care about this adventure anymore—I should've quit a few months ago!"
Chris suddenly was looking very pale.
"What about the Devil King?"
Kazuma looked at Chris with pity.
"Let it go, Chris. All of you. He's been sending his generals every time. It's getting old.
Luna looks furious.
"Seriously, Kazuma?! You've always been selfish, but this is bullshit!"
Kazuma stares into her with no emotion."
"I don't like you."
Kazuma then faces towards the rest of the guild hall.
"Any of you. But we've all known each other long enough that you should hear it from me first. I'm done."
Kazuma then walks off.
Chris was getting very pale.
"(stammering) But he can't—he can't do that! Someone do something!"
Aqua runs forward.
"HEY NEET! Desertion is punishable by my gods wrath! So keep going! (growing more forlorn) By that I mean I will punch you if you keep walking!...Seriously, Kazuma, turn around please….." Aqua was getting desperate at this point.
Kazuma just keeps walking. As most of the group watches him go, Megumin stares after him while tears began to fall.
