Mother's day was everyday for Adalind and Rosalee. Their families, especially their husbands always made sure that they felt loved and appreciated.

But the actual American holiday was still made pretty special.

Their lives had never been easy, but parenthood made it extra chaotic.

The men knew how lucky they were to have such beautiful, brilliant and strong women in their lives.

And so it was important that they be especially reminded how they were needed and adored on the day set aside to honor mothers in whatever form they come in.

And with Adalind about to move into her third trimester of her third pregnancy, Nick wanted to show his wife how precious she was to him.

But Adalind, worried that her husband was planning to go over the top and unsure she would be able to enjoy any of it in her current state, told him she just wanted her family, and some strawberry treats, of which there was a great abundance of during that time of year.

Diana found a recipe for a strawberry cake with strawberry glaze topping and lots of whip cream; she used a heart shaped mold to make it extra special.

Kelly made his mother, (With supplies provided by his father), a picture of her painted with finger paints. And with a little bit more help from his father, painted "Happy Mother's Day to the Prettiest Mommy in the World."

"Did you make him write that?" Adalind narrowed her eyes with suspicion at her husband, when she saw her son's art.

"It's what he wanted to say." Nick assured his wife. "All I did was help him write it."

Nick got Adalind strawberries decorated with chocolate flowers and edible pink glitter.

Being pregnant had caused Adalind's appetite to increase, especially for sweet things, so he didn't worry about there being too much sugar for her on Mother's day.

Nick called a relative of Bud Wurstner and asked him to deliver a large bouquet of pink, white, and lavender roses, pink and white lilies, pink tulips, and deep purple irises.

Just as Nick had made the final arrangements for a nice Mother's Day for Adalind, he got a call from a panicked Monroe.

"My mother wants to spend Mother's Day in Portland with my family. My parents want to spend the whole month here so my family can also spend Father's Day together. What am I supposed to do?"

"I take it telling your parents' it's not a good idea is out of the question?"

Nick could practically feel Monroe's glare from over the phone.

"This is serious, man, I don't want Rosalee to feel overshadowed."

"Then you're just going to have to put your foot down and tell your mother to back off whenever you start noticing your wife is feeling upset. You're an observant guy. If you can always find out what is wrong with a tiny watch, you can always tell when your wife will be needing your support."

"I love my parents, I really do, but they can be a lot sometimes."

"Well if they get to be too much, send them to my house. Let's see how bold they feel when dealing with a pregnant hexenbiest."

Nick had been joking, but that suggestion was just what Monroe had wanted to hear. He was sure that once his parent's learned all about the complicated family history of both Nick and Adalind, they would want to make up for what the grim and hexenbiest had been through.

And they would volunteer to be grandparents to children that didn't have any.

Diana's grandmother Elizabeth was still alive, but since she wasn't around much Monroe's parents, Alice and Bert, would hardly think she would count.

It wasn't like their woges could scare the children. Both had seen the wesen they considered family woge so often they were used to it and unafraid.

Though Diana had never been afraid or impressed with it since she reentered their lives.

When Monoe took his entire family, including his parents to visit Nick's family, he had to keep the smug grin or the visible relief from showing when Bert and Alice looked constantly astonished by the Burkhardt family.

Especially when Diana and Adalind used hexenbiest magic to make tea and serve treats.

"We don't keep coffee in the house anymore. Nick is afraid it would be too much temptation for me." Adalind explained as she floated the teapot to each cup.

"How do you wake yourself up in the morning?" Burt asked. "I thought police officers lived on coffee? And donuts?"

"Some things that have happened since I've become a grimm have kind of caused me to always be on alert. Whenever I need to be, I'm awake and alert enough to get whatever done. I'll get coffee when I'm in the precinct or traveling through the city, but that's out of habit and because my partner wants some, but I never need or miss it when I'm at home." Nick explained.

"Mom says dad's special." Diana informed the blutbad grandparents. "Whenever he gets hurt he becomes better."

"Your mom's pretty special too." Nick told Diana. "She's smart, beautiful, and has an amazing heart. She overcame a lot of bad in her life."

"We both did." Adalind said softly, lacing her fingers with Nick. The two of them looked into one another's eyes with a great amount of love and tenderness.

"I never would have believed it if I weren't seeing it with my own eyes." Bert said to his wife though everyone could hear him. "A grimm and a hexenbiest being together sounds like the most impossible thing anyone could imagine, but the way those two look at each other,," He shook his head in disbelief.

"Since you're planning on staying here a whole month, you can see first hand how affectionate they are with each other all of the time." Monroe said, hoping his parents would take the opportunity to watch the grimm and the hexenbiest family and keep some focus off of his own.

Alice and Bert's interest grew more when Bud's relative showed up with the flower delivery for Adalind and the hexenbiests had to use their magic to lift the massive assortment to the table.

"Why do you keep using eisbiber when you know they always overdue everything for you." Adalind asked Nick with a chuckle.

"Because I know they're reliable and I want the love of my life to get her treats on time." Nick defended, pecking a kiss on Adalind's lips.

She blushed brightly, a great smile on her face from receiving so much love from her family.

"It's so impossible but it's real." Bert spoke low as he looked at the grimm and his hexenbiest wife in wonder.
