Amity stood in front of Luz's locker, the hallways were still scarcely populated. The young alpha had gotten to school early today.
She was nervous. Really nervous. She hadn't felt this nervous in a long time. Not since Amity had first realized her feelings for Luz.
But today was a big day. This could make or break everything. Amity knew the risks of what she was doing. But she felt like it was worth it. Luz was worth it.
It had been an entire year since the portal to the Human Realm was destroyed, meaning Luz had to stay in the Boiling Isles. Not that Amity minded.
They had gotten so close lately. Almost passed friends. Amity had even started working up the courage to flirt with the omega. And to her surprise, Luz was receptive and was starting to flirt back.
So Amity knew she had to try to court the omega. Honestly, Amity was glad that Luz was an omega. That was one less thing for her parents to be mad about. They were going to hate the fact that Luz was a human. So she didn't also have to worry about disrupting the hierarchy, breaking the status quo, and all that.
Ugh, Amity hated all that hierarchy shit. How alphas have to be strong and brave. Sometimes she didn't want to be tough, sometimes she just wanted to be soft. And Titan, did Luz make Amity soft. There was something about being around Luz that just made the witch melt.
Maybe it was the omega's scent, Luz smelled like a sunlit meadow deep in the forest. Like fresh air. Like freedom. Warm, and comforting, like home.
Amity smelled Luz before she heard her. The alpha could find Luz by her scent alone easily. It called to her.
"-I'm telling you Willow, think about it. Why else would they be so small!?" Luz cried out exasperated.
"Ugh Luz, living with Eda has made you a crazy conspiracy theorist." Willow groaned with a shake of her head.
Luz just huffed and rolled her eyes. That is, until she locked eyes with Amity.
"Hey, Amity!" Luz cheered as she embraced the alpha in a tight hug.
Amity buried her face in Luz's hair for a moment, taking a deep breath of soothing omega scent. "Hey Luz, I actually wanted to talk to you,"
Luz pulled back, smiling at her, "Sure, what's up?"
This was it. It's now or never.
"Well.. Actually, it's more like.. I, uh, wanted to g-give you something." Amity fumbled over her words as she reached into her pocket and pulled out a small box.
The alpha held it out with a shaky hand. It was a small black box, one often used for necklaces. On top sat a silky golden bow.
Luz took the box and quickly opened it. Gasping as she saw what it was. It was definitely not what she was expecting.
It was an Azura keychain, seeming to be carved out of some kind of precious stone. It was beautiful, hand-crafted. A deep green color, glistening in the light as Luz inspected it.
"I didn't want to get anything too big.. Just in case." Amity's nervous voice cut into Luz's thoughts.
"It's amazing! I'm gonna put it on my bag!" Luz exclaimed excitedly,
Quickly pulling the keychain from the box and attaching it to the corner of her bag, Luz held up the bag for Amity to see.
"Oh! It's perfect.. So.. does that mean you accept?" Amity asked face flushed red.
"Of course! This is awesome! Thank you so much!" Luz pulled Amity into another quick hug.
"Yeah, totally awesome. I, uh-" Amity was cut off by the scream of the bell.
Shaking her head, Amity had a huge, goofy smile on her face. "Anyhow, I'll see you at lunch, yeah?"
"Yeah totally, see you later," Luz said as she turned back to Willow.
Once out of sight the alpha pumped her fist in victory. She accepted it!
Only then did Amity realize that she was being watched. Looking up to see Boscha staring at her. As usual. The omega triclops had such a forlorn look on her face.
Ever since their little 'friend' group disbanded, Boscha was left alone. Isolating herself. But lately, Amity had noticed that the omega was hanging around. Watching from a distance. The pain and sadness clearly visible.
She must be lonely. Amity sighed and shook her head. She didn't have time for this. Turning to head to class.
Willow was giving Luz an odd look as they walked to class together.
"So.. You and Amity are finally dating, huh?" Willow asked, trying to sound casual.
Luz stopped dead, "What? We're not dating."
Willow gave the human a confused look, "Uh, but you accepted Amity's gift? Didn't you see, it had a gold bow on it. Gold Luz. It was a courting gift."
The omega just stared at Willow, puzzled. "Courting gift?"
"Humans don't have courting gifts?" Willow asked to which Luz just shook her head. "Okay, well, gifts that have gold on them are courting gifts. That's what the gold signifies. Accepting a courting gift means you want to start a relationship with them."
"So, Amity and I are dating now? Because I accepted her gift?" Luz questioned softly.
"Basically. I'm sure she'll ask you on a date soon enough. Is.. is that okay?" The alpha witch looked over at Luz.
The omega flushed as she thought about it. She and Amity. Dating. Warmth and excitement filled Luz's chest.
"It's not what I was expecting, but I'm not upset at all," Luz said with a huge, goofy smile.
