Back to Bayside: Part 2

Stardust Los Angeles Office

Tapping his pen against his notebook Kurt zoned out of his morning conference call with his head of finance Emmett Richards. Normally he spends his Saturday on the golf course or catching up on some much needed sleep. However, home is the last place he wants to be, things with Lisa have hit an all time low.

"All I can say is that your wife is a genius, where I thought the West Hollywood location would be a money pit. It's actually a hotspot. Instead of opening a hotel the best investment is to open a spa. Janie Marshall from marketing has already drawn up a concept.

The Stardust Spa provides all the fun of Las Vegas with the luxury of Los Angeles.

I can call a department meeting and punch some members? I can also inform Janie to create an official marketing strategy" Emmett stated eagerly.

"Whatever you see fit," Kurt sighed deeply before he dismissed the meeting.

Hanging up the phone feeling disconnected from his work Kurt spun around in his chair toward the large window and looked upon downtown Los Angeles. Much like his wife the city is beautiful and warm but has never felt like home. He's just renting; her heart will always belong to Zack Morris.

*Ring Ring*

The phone interrupted his thoughts "Mr. Martin, Dr. Lorraine Peters is here to see you. Shall I send her in?" Francine his assistant asked.

Leaning toward the phone he aggressively pressed the intercom button.

"Yeah you can send her in" Kurt sighed.

Hearing the double door slid open Kurt hesitantly looked up and watched the middle aged woman walk into his office.

"I didn't mean to ambush you at work, I know how busy you are. I just wanted to let you know that I loved the Godiva chocolate and flowers you sent. However after hearing your voicemail I was deeply concerned" Lorraine stated.

Leaning across his deep oak desk Kurt interlocked his fingers and met Lorraine's concerned gaze.

"Thank you, for your concern Lorraine however Lisa and I have decided not to continue with your services" Kurt said as he forced a smile.

"What has transpired between now and our session two weeks ago?" Lorraine asked in confusion.

"I know what you're doing and it's not going to work. I cancelled our sessions'' Kurt said coldly as he stared at the high profile therapist.

Running her fingers along the base of her pencil skirt Lorraine slowly nodded but Kurt knew better she wasn't taking no for an answer. Dropping his shoulders in defeat he reclined in his chair and cleared his throat.

"Lisa and I got into a fight, she went out to dinner with her best friend Jessica yet I assumed she was meeting up with ex" Kurt explained.

"Shall I write this down or are we just chatting?" Lorraine asked.

"Write it down" Kurt huffed.

Taking out her notebook from her purse she clicked her pen and started jotting down notes.

"Why would you assume she met up with her ex? and is this the same ex you that we were discussing a few weeks ago? Lorraine asked.

"She's never gotten over him," Kurt stressed.

"And this is the ex that you think Lisa is having an affair with? Lorraine asked.

Tracing his fingers along his dirty blond hair "I don't know if they're having a physical affair but after tonight I wouldn't be surprised" Kurt confessed.

Glancing up from the notebook Lorraine met his gaze "what is tonight?" she asked.

"Lisa's high school reunion" Kurt stated as he leaned forward in his chair.

"And the ex is going to be there?" Lorraine asked.

"Yup" he sighed.

"What is it about this ex that makes you feel so insecure?" Lorraine asked as she jotted down more notes.

"Zack is her first love and you never forget your first love" Kurt said as his voice got small.

"I see," Lorraine nodded.

Lorraine's gaze cut through him like a knife crossing his arms against his body he glared at her. "Don't look at me like that. I'm not some insecure simp who doesn't trust his wife. Our marriage used to be strong. We really loved one another, it was us against the world but everything changed this year. Lisa has always loved the finer things in life and this year is our 5th wedding anniversary so I bought the perfect gift. An upgrade on her engagement ring. She's always wanted a heart shaped ring so I bought it. I was so excited to give it to her, when I finally got home she's sitting at her vanity going through photos of herself and Zack. On our wedding anniversary she's fantasizing about her ex, how can I compete with a fantasy… I can't. The counselling isn't working and we're both miserable so I give up. I've already spoken to my lawyers and I'll be filing on Monday morning" Kurt admitted.

Feeling her hand slightly cramp Lorraine lowered her pen and nervously smiled at Kurt.

"Did you ask Lisa why she was looking at old pictures of her ex?" Lorraine asked.

"No," Kurt admitted embarrassingly.

"I just want to remind you that this is completely off the record and I will give you the notes once we are done. From what I've gathered most of your issues are stemming from the fact that you jump to conclusions. Instead of assuming, have an open and honest conversation with Lisa and express your feelings. Fight for your marriage I really am rooting for you and Lisa" Lorraine smiled as she ripped the papers from the notepad and handed it to him.

"Thanks Lorraine if I change my mind on continuing services; I will give you a call" Kurt smiled.

Kelly's House

Impatiently tapping his knee as Tyler sat on the edge of the bed, thoughts plagued his mind as he wondered what was Kelly's surprise.

"Kel, you're almost done?" Tyler yelled.

"Coming" Kelly yelled as she opened the door.

Tyler's jaw dropped as Kelly slowly walked toward him; her black dress clung to her natural curves. It wasn't just the dress she looked stunning in every way. From her smooth skin to her deep chocolate brown hair that perfectly framed her heart shaped face and complemented her icy blue eyes.

"Whoa you look stunning Kelly" Tyler exclaimed as he got off the bed.

"Thanks Ty I wanted you to be the first one to see me in it" Kelly gushed as she glanced up at him and batted her long lashes in his direction.

*Ring Ring*

Pulling away from the attractive eighteen- year old Kelly dug into her Dior purse and answered her phone.

"Hey honey where are you, are you going to meet me at the school?" Kelly asked.

"Something has come up," Brian explained.

Rolling her eyes, she heard all of these excuses a million and one times before. It's always a lot of empty promises but nothing ever changes.

Tyler intently watched Kelly knowing she's talking to her husband.

"Are you coming or not?" Kelly asked.

Suddenly Brian went silent clutching her phone frustration consumed her thoughts as she fought back her overwhelming urge to cry. Closing her eyes the realization that her marriage will always be one sided finally set in. While she's expected to look good and impress his friends; it will never be the other way around.

Glancing back Kelly met Tyler's concerned gaze, feeling embarrassed she turned her back on him and lowered her voice in shame.

"Thanks for nothing honey" Kelly snapped as she hung up.

"Kelly if you'll have me I would be honored to accompany you to your high school reunion" Tyler suggested.

"You're so sweet, but I can't go to my reunion with you," Kelly said.

"Why" Tyler snapped as his expression hardened.

"Because you're still in high school and you're my stepson's best friend but most importantly I'm married" Kelly expressed.

Frowning in confusion anger blazed through Tyler's normally calm green eyes "None of that seemed to matter when we we're having sex" Tyler stressed.

"I'm sorry" Kelly said as her voice got small.

"So what is this Kelly, I'm just some stupid kid to fill your afternoons with while your husband is away. I don't even know why you stay with him he doesn't love you the way I do" Tyler snapped.

Kelly wrapped her arms around his broad shoulders as she shyly smiled at him. "Oh Tyler this is all my fault. I remember how it feels to be eighteen every relationship is so intense and passionate but you don't love me you like the idea of me. Trust me I know I got married to first husband Zack when I was 19. He's extremely passionate, idealistic and sweet you remind me a lot of him" Kelly explained.

"So what happened?" Tyler asked.

"We we're too young and had no business being married so eventually we we're unfaithful to one another. I may have been the one who physically cheated but he was emotionally cheating on me with my best friend. To make matters worse they're both going to be at the reunion tonight" Kelly said as her voice broke.

Tyler stared at Kelly in utter confusion as she continued talking.

"What Zack and I had was nothing like what I have with Brian, he only brings me out for charity galas or to impress his business partners. Brian only sees me as an extension of his umm… ego unlike Zack who loved me unconditionally, even after I hurt him he still loved me" Kelly sighed.

Closing the distance between them so they were chest to chest Kelly ran her fingers along the fabric of Tyler's t-shirt before she hesitantly met his vibrant green eyes.

"Oh Tyler I wish I met you ten years ago, I wish…I wish we could go to my reunion together but this isn't fair to you. You should find a girl your own age that can love you the way you deserve" Kelly stressed.

"What about you; who's going to take you to your reunion?" Tyler asked as he searched her icy blue eyes.

"I am going to take myself; I think it's time that I learn how to enjoy my own company. My entire world has always been centered around men. I can't even remember a time when I went anywhere without a date" Kelly confessed.

"It's over isn't it" Tyler sighed.

"I'm so sorry Tyler" Kelly sighed.

Kelly's light blue eyes sparkled as she hesitantly glanced up at Tyler as he gently cupped her cheeks and kissed her lips. That was what she loved the most about him; he always kissed her like it's his first time.

"I'll never forget you, Mrs. Hastings" Tyler whispered in between his kiss.

"I'll never forget you Tyler" Kelly smiled before she kissed him back.

Slater's House

Staring at his laptop screen Slater reread his reunion speech for the third time.

When Jessie asked me to speak at our high school reunion I was excited. I've had some of the best memories of my life in this building. To prepare for tonight I went through our senior yearbook, for the record I'm mad at each and everyone of you for letting walk around campus in acid wash jeans and a mullet. That being said Welcome back to Bayside Class of 93'. It's been a hell of a 10 years huh we went from cassettes to CD's, Brick phones to Flip phones, Madonna to Britney Spears.

I'm not going to lie, it took me way too long to get dressed tonight. It was like I was 17 again. Worried about my jeans, stressed over the homecoming game on Friday while hoping the girl I like will agree to be my date to the dance. Now thinking back to high school I have nothing but fond memories.

I never thought I'd ever go to my high school reunion as an army brat. I moved too much to make any real friends. That all changed when I came here to Bayside everyone welcomed me with open arms. Well not everyone this one guy gave me a hard time the second I walked into school. Turned out we liked both Kelly Kapowski, I never thought in a million years that smart mouth, sneaky, skinny guy would become my best friend. I guess that's what makes Bayside so special you're never far from a friend. Talking about friends as I looked through our yearbook I noticed Zack Morris wore a million sweaters ranging in a million colors. But no one could rock a multicolored outfit better the fashion Queen herself Lisa Turtle. It's funny when you're a teenager you can't wait to grow up until you become an adult and then you'd do anything to be a carefree teenager again. Go back to eating burgers and fries at the Max with the gang, cruising down the highway with your crush. Man I had the whole world at my fingertips I thought it was going to last forever. High school may be over but I know that I made friends for life. So tonight as we celebrate and reminisce about the good old days. Let's look forward to the future and do something that would make our high school selves extremely proud. Last but not least we have to thank our fearless reunion leader Jessica Spano. Through her hard work and dedication is the reason why we are all here tonight, so let's put our hands together and give Jessie a round of applause. I am honored to call you my high school sweetheart Jessie.

As he finished reading a notification popped up on his screen, switching tabs he opened his email.

Hello A.C.

Does the Corvette still have its original engine, if so I am interested in viewing it and taking it for a test drive. I am available for a test drive anytime after 5:30pm on Monday.

Thanks, Preston.

Sighing as much as he doesn't want to sell his car he had no other opinions he's been holding onto the glory days too long. It's time to take responsibility for his actions. He hit the reply button.

Hi Preston,

Thanks for your interest in the Corvette, yes the car has its original engine, I updated the radio and I gave the car a wax coating 2 years. If you are still interested, you can stop by for a test drive on Monday at 6:30pm.

Thanks A.C.

Hovering over the send button his heart ache he had so many plans for his Corvette and himself. Printing his reunion speech Slater sighed deeply as he slammed down the top of his laptop and got ready. Slater reached for his keys as he hopped into his car and drove across the city to pick up Jessie.

Jessie's House

Still damp from the shower Jessie sat at her vanity as she opened her planner. Tracing her fingers along today's date her jaw dropped in disbelief she's already missed 2 days, worth of injections. Guilt penetrated through her body as she thought about how long she's wanted a baby yet her actions are entirely different. Sighing deeply, she hovered over her medicine case, knowing if she takes her injection it would spike her hormones. Fear consumed her thoughts knowing if she goes to her high school reunion with her hormones completely out of sync instantly she'd be seen as neurotic Jessie again. The tall girl that everyone was afraid of, the girl that desperately craved control yet ended up failing miserably each and every time. Dropping her planner, she decided tonight she's going to be the new and improved Jessie who is cool and calm and most importantly confident.

. . .

Admiring her appearance in her mirror Jessie ran her hair brush through her freshly straightened long blonde hair when the doorbell rang. Her heart raced in her chest as she dropped the hair brush and grabbed her purse. Running down the stairs with excitement she opened the door and stared into Slater's dark brown eyes.

"Hi," Jessie exclaimed.

"Hi," Slater smiled as his eyes widened as he stared at Jessie's curves in her blue dress. Following his gaze Jessie bit her bottom lip as she held his forearm as they walked toward his Corvette. Opening the passenger side door Slater flashed his dimples as Jessie slid onto the leather seat. Admiring the gorgeous interior Jessie blushed as she thought of all the amazing memories she made with Slater in this car.

"This is a real throwback back date" Jessie gushed as Slater sat in his Corvette.

"I couldn't think of a better person to share my last ride with" Slater sighed.

"Last ride?" Jessie asked.

"I'm selling her to pay off my debt," Slater said as he pulled away from the curb and drove toward Bayside.

"What?" Jessie stressed.

"It sucks but hey we're not kids anymore time to take responsibility for my actions" Slater said.

Frowning she turned toward him as she noticed the sadness in his eyes "Everything is changing isnt it" Jessie sighed.

"Yeah but hey we still have each other right" Slater pointed out.

"Right" Jessie smiled.

Kurt and Lisa's House

Collecting her deep brunette hair at the top of her head Lisa tilted left and right as she tried to determine which side looked better. Admiring her even complexion in her vanity mirror her entire life she has been told that she is beautiful. Maybe it was her symmetric features or warm inviting smile. Whatever it was in this moment she couldn't feel further from beautiful. In fact, she felt just as insecure as she felt in high school. Sadness consumed her in realization that not much has changed since then her love life is still rocky and she's still in this weird love triangle with Zack. Blinking slowly Lisa stared blankly at her mirror as her mind polluted with thoughts of her marriage and how their entire union seems like a lie. Sighing deeply Lisa dropped her hands allowing her curls seamlessly fell against her face. Applying lip gloss over her lips the bedroom door opened, turning around Lisa met her husband's pensive gaze.

"Good you're home, I picked out 3 suits that match my dress, they're hanging in your closet" Lisa said as she continued getting ready.

"I'm not going" Kurt muttered as he sat on their bed.

Dropping her makeup brush Lisa turned around and frowned at him in confusion as she felt her patience wear extremely thin.

"I can't tell if you're joking or not?" Lisa observed.

"I don't know how to make this any clearer; I am not going Lisa," Kurt said sternly.

Getting up from her vanity she stood in front of him and crossed her arms against her waist "Like hell you're not my high school reunion is tonight it's been on the calendar for months" Lisa shouted.

"I don't know what more you want from me Lisa?" Kurt claimed.

"To be my Husband" Lisa stressed.

"You mean play the part of your husband" Kurt glared.

Heat penetrated through her petite frame completely shocked by what she was hearing.

"I'm so sick of this Kurt; If you make me go to my high school reunion alone we're done. I mean it Kurt no more counselling or silence treatment. If you don't go I'm filing for divorce" Lisa threatened.

Holding his throbbing temples "if you go to the reunion we're already done" Kurt stated.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Lisa asked.

"Zack" Kurt glared.

"It astonishes me how you can make every argument about him, this has nothing to do with him;" Lisa exclaimed.

"Just once in your life be honest Lisa he may not be physically in our marriage but his memory has haunted us like a ghost. What's going to happen the second you see each other. Huh Lisa you want me to sit there like an idiot while Zack pines after you from across the table" Kurt stressed.

"What did I do to make you think I'm still in love with Zack?" Lisa stressed as tears welled in her eyes.

Normally at this point of the argument Kurt would emotionally retreat, back down and just start apologizing but this time was different he had nothing else to lose.

Staring at one another his expression softened as tears streamed down Lisa's face about to give in when Kurt remembered Lorraine's words. Leaning against his bedside table he took out the jewelry box and handed it to her.

Opening the jewelry box Lisa stared at the heart shaped diamond ring it was her dream ring down the diamond encrusted band.

"I've tried so hard to make you happy, I would have given you anything Lisa. Instead on our anniversary you're going through old pictures reminiscing about your relationship with Zack. I love you Lisa but I know I can give you the world and it still wouldn't be enough because I'm not him" Kurt said as his voice broke.

Biting her bottom lip as hot tears fiercely streamed down her face she felt her heart shatter as Kurt continued.

"I have one question for you Lisa, if you answer it honestly I promise I will go to the reunion and put on my best smile and impress all your friends" Kurt stated.

"What is your question?" Lisa asked as she wiped away her tears.

"Are you still in love with Zack Morris?" Kurt asked.

Nervously meeting his gaze Lisa searched Kurt's blue eyes behind the oceanic color was an overwhelming sadness and pain.

"I don't want to be, I've tried so hard to deny it, to hide it, believe me I wish… I wish with all my heart it was you. My life would be so much easier but I am in love with… Zack" Lisa confessed as a fresh set of tears streamed down her face.

Getting up from the bed Kurt wrapped his arms around her petite frame as she rested her head against his chest.

"You can't help who you love, as much as it breaks my heart I love you enough to let you go" Kurt whispered.

"...Kurt" Lisa whispered.

"Give Zack my best," Kurt stated before he kissed her forehead.

Nodding slowly Lisa watched Kurt leave their bedroom, all the frustration, rejection, sadness and pain that she suppressed over the few months manifested into tears. Letting out a small whimper Lisa lowered her head into her hands as tears seeped through her fingers. Each tear felt like acid as it streamed down her face.

The Rooftop of the Manor

Sitting on the rooftop Vivianne rested her head on his chest as she glanced up at the stars that twinkled upon the late night canvas. Wrapping his arm around her waist Zack was completely captivated by her beauty as her tight curls blew freely in the late night breeze.

"It's so beautiful out here" Vivianne exclaimed as she snuggled deeper against his chest.

"I come up here to think," Zack admitted.

"Think about?" Vivianne asked as she met his gaze.

"Everything… mainly you" Zack smiled.

"Zack you're embarrassing me" Vivianne gushed as she bit her bottom lip.

"I can't help it, you're so beautiful" Zack whispered.

Leaning toward him she took in all the color of his hazel gaze. Gently cupping her cheeks Zack stared at the fullness of her lips as he slowly moved closer to her. Vivianne tilted her head as she closed her eyes as he met her lips. His kiss was soft yet commanding; Vivianne ran her fingers down his chest gripping the fabric of his dress shirt and pulled him in closer so they were chest to chest. Wrapping her arms around his neck Vivianne gently bit his bottom lip as she deepened their kiss. Just when he was getting into the kiss Lisa's words circled in his mind like a toy train. Just like that the ecstasy faded away and he was faced with the cold hard reality no matter how similar Vivianne's features are to Lisa's no one will be able to replace her.

Pulling away from the beautiful female Zack slowly traced his fingers through his hair.

"You're not into this," Vivianne observed.

"I want to be, I really do but I can't stop thinking about…" Zack sighed.

"The better offer" Vivianne interrupted.

Searching his mind for something to say but based on the way Vivianne was looking at him he knew she could see right through him as though he was entirely transparent.

Nervously fidgeting with his fingers he avoided her gaze and pointed toward the sky. "Do you see that star right there… it's the North star. All the other stars orbit around it" Zack expressed.

"I didn't know you we're into the stars," Vivianne exclaimed.

"I'm not…not really stars gazing reminds me of feelings I thought I buried a long time ago" Zack confessed.

"For the girl you're still in love with" Vivianne stated.

"You must think I'm a real jerk. I asked you on a date and spent the entire time talking about my ex" Zack expressed as he nervously ran his fingers through the thickness of his brown hair.

Pulling her hair behind her ear she shyly smiled in that moment she realized that their fling was officially over.

"I should be furious but I know that you're in love and I've always been a sucker for a good love story even if it's not mine" Vivianne smiled.

"You'd like Lisa. She's also into love stories and wishing on stars. No matter how dark or bad things may seem whenever I'm with her everything feels right. Like I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be" Zack admitted.

"She's your North Star" Vivianne stated.

"Something like that" Zack blushed.

"The real question is why are you sitting here with me, when you want to be with her?" Vivianne asked.

"I'm avoiding my high school reunion, she'll be there tonight with her hippie-dippy, cover of Forbes magazines, multimillion dollar husband. Everything has gotten so complicated and confusing after we kissed last weekend" Zack admitted.

"Wait you kissed her…" Vivianne said as her voice trailed off.

Envy waved over Vivianne as she realized while she was thinking about Zack he was kissing his ex girlfriend.

"Doesn't matter she told me to stay away from her" Zack sighed.

"She probably wants you to fight for her, I know I would … if it was me" Vivianne sighed as she swallowed her pride.

"You don't get it. I hurt her worse than anyone. I betrayed her friendship, trust and most importantly love. No matter how many times I tell her I'm sorry nothing could ever change that" Zack stressed as his heart felt heavy.

Vivianne searched his hazel eyes, the usual vibrant color seemed dull as though a direct reflection of his internal struggle.

"Isn't she worth it" Vivianne asked as she rested her hand on his.

Sadness consumed his mind knowing that an apology no matter how sincere would not get Lisa back. Fear plagued his thoughts in remembrance that not only will Lisa be with Kurt be at the reunion but Kelly will also be there with her husband Brian.

"Will you come with me?" Zack asked as he held her hand.

"Of course but you have to introduce me to your single friends" Vivianne smiled.

"Deal" Zack nodded.

Back to Bayside 10-year reunion:

Wrapping her arms around Slater's shoulders Jessie smiled sweetly as they slowly swayed back and forth to Always be my Baby by Mariah Carey.

"It feels so great being here with you, Jes" Slater smiled.

"It feels great being here with you as well" Jessie exclaimed.

"Jessie, I have to confess something…" Slater stated.

"Sure what's going on?" Jessie smiled.

"I still have feelings for you…" Slater said as he smiled sweetly at her.

Ignoring the pounding of her heart panic overcame Jessie as she studied his expression. As much as she wanted to believe everything he was saying, fear consumed her in remembrance of how bad she felt after her break up with Slater.

Glancing over Slater's shoulder Jessie noticed Lisa sitting by herself at their table biting her bottom lip she took a pull away from Slater.

"Hold that thought I need to go pee" Jessie nervously walked away.

. . .

Amidst the loud and chaotic atmosphere it was the emptiest of Zack's seat that sounded the loudest. Lisa's mind was congested with thoughts as she remembered Zack's sweet words and the sad look in his eyes. Sinking into her seat as a combination of sadness and nostalgia swirled in the pit of her stomach. Every time someone walked by Lisa perked up in hopes that it was Zack. It's been 10 years since she's graduated yet her life hasn't changed that much. She's sitting by alone while her friends are dancing except this time she doesn't even have Screech to hang on the sidelines with. He's away at some investors conference in Palm Springs. Sighing deeply, Lisa twirled her straw in her pina colada before she took another sip. The tropical cocktail soothed her thoughts as she slowly accepted the fact that Zack wasn't coming. She didn't blame him though she had said some pretty mean things to him last weekend. Resting her head on her hands guilt washed over Lisa like a tidal wave.

"Lis, let's go to the washroom" Jessie said in a panic.

Meeting Jessie's concerned expression Lisa removed her straw and finished the rest of her drink and followed Jessie into the hallway.

. . .

A cluster of women congregated inside of the bathroom Jessie glared at them.

"Ladies this bathroom is officially out of order" Jessie nearly yelled as the women scattered.

Leaning against the bathroom sink Jessie ran her fingers through her long blonde hair as she tried gather the strength to express her feelings.

Hovering by the bathroom door Lisa crossed her arms against her chest as she frowned in confusion.

"Is this emergency conference about you and Slater?" Lisa asked.

Turning around Jessie nodded slowly as she nervously tugged at the end of her long hair.

"It feels so right with him, I'm just nervous what if all of these so called feelings he has is just nostalgia. He's the one heartbreak I wouldn't be able to come back from. I love him Lisa even after we broke up I still love him" Jessie admitted as her eyes welled with tears.

Knowing how much unfinished business Jessie and Slater shared Lisa shyly smiled as she rubbed Jessie's back.

"If you really love Slater then you should be with him. Trust me Jes, nothing hurts more than to see the man you love with someone else knowing it should be you" Lisa advised as tears welled in her own eyes.

Realizing Lisa was also going through something Jessie held Lisa's hand.

"What's wrong?" Jessie asked.

"My marriage is over" Lisa stressed.

"As in divorce… over?" Jessie gasped as she wrapped her arm around Lisa.

Trying to form a sentence but all her thoughts blurred together as she broke down and cried.

"What makes it worse is that I am more heartbroken over Zack not being here than the end of my marriage. How heartless is that." Lisa sobbed as she buried her head in her hands.

"Before you plan the wedding you should know he leaves in inches, checks out, and then emotionally shuts down" Kelly said as she emerged from the bathroom stall.

Her breathing still jagged Lisa lifted her head from her hands and stared at Kelly as though she just spotted a ghost.

"Don't look at me like that, it's a public bathroom," Kelly stated as she washed her hands.

Instantly shifting into defensive mode Lisa wiped her eyes and glared at her ex-best friend.

"Are you trying to hurt me Kelly, huh we doing this old tic for tack again. I loved him with every inch of my heart but he couldn't trust it because of your infidelity… so save your advice I don't need it" Lisa snapped.

Rolling her eyes Kelly dried her hands "Don't act so high and mighty Lisa, you're not the only one who's been hurt. How could you get engaged to him. You were my best friend" Kelly stated as tears welled in her eyes.

"I always put our friendship first. I always put my feelings aside for you, all those times I helped you guys get back together even though it broke my heart. And how did you thank me, by cheating on him" Lisa snapped.

"To scare him… to let him know he was really going to lose me, but I never stood a chance since he's still in love with you, so forgive me if I'm not feeling overly sympathetic" Kelly stated.

Lisa stared at her former best friend "Kelly, I'm sorry" she sighed.

"Yeah me too" Kelly said as she threw the paper towel in the trash and left.

Jessie stood stunned on the heated interaction between Kelly and Lisa she just witnessed.

"I know you don't want to hear this but Kelly does have a point. Zack has made a bunch of mistakes in the past but his love for you hasn't changed. After you left the other night he was devastated.

Biting her bottom lip hot tears welled in Lisa's eyes as she hesitantly looked up at her best friend

"What's the point if he wanted to be here he would be" Lisa admitted.

"I'm sure something just came up" Jessie stressed as she ran her fingers along her back.

"Thanks Jessie but we both know why he's not here" Lisa sighed.

"I'm sorry Lis, I know how much you love him" Jessie smiled.

"I think the timing will always be off for us" Lisa said as she smiled in its saddest form.

"Let's just go back to my place, we can watch movies and eat ice cream," Jessie suggested.

"How about we call that plan B" Lisa smiled as she and Jessie walked back to the gym.

. . .

Walking down the darkened halls of Bayside a swirl of emotion plagued the pit of Zack's stomach as the events of last weekend played in his mind like a movie. Hovering outside gymnasium double doors, he felt Vivianne's hands traced along his forearm. Glancing over at her Zack met her soft brown eyes and smiled.

"She's worth it… right" Vivianne smiled.

"Right" Zack said as he pushed open the doors.

Taking in his surroundings the gymnasium was transformed into a dining room it almost looked luxurious in its simplest form. As though he was a man on mission Zack maneuvered through the crowd of familiar faces chatting and yelling over 90's music in search of Lisa. Noticing her sitting alone despite her beauty there was so much sadness behind her expression. What stood out to him the most about Lisa is the fact that she seems completely unaware on how beautiful she is. With every step he took closer to her his heart raced in his chest.

"Is this seat taken?" Zack asked as he sat beside Lisa.

Turning toward him Lisa's face lit up with excitement as she met Zack's hazel eyes.

"Sorry I'm late Lisa" Zack blushed as he nervously smiled at his ex-fiancé.

Fluttering her long lashes in his direction Lisa's expression softened as she shyly returned his smile.

"It's ok you can make it up to me on the dance floor" Lisa nodded slowly as Zack led her to the dance floor.

Wrapping her arms around his broad shoulders they slowly danced in the middle of the dance floor.

"I'm sorry for what I said last weekend I was upset and took my frustrations out on you" Lisa confessed.

"Yeah I'm sorry too, I don't know if I'm overstepping again but why we're you sitting alone where's Kurt?" Zack asked nervously.

"Our marriage ran its course, he doesn't trust me and I'm still in love with this guy I dated in high school" Lisa admitted as her warm brown eyes drowned with tears.

"Oh yeah anyone I know?" he asked.

. . .

Biting her bottom lip Jessie as her cheeks turned crimson as she glanced over Slater's shoulder and noticed Zack & Lisa dancing.

"Awe Zack and Lisa are dancing" Jessie stressed.

Instantly Slater's smile fell as he stared blankly at Jessie "Thank God I can't handle anymore of their soap opera" Slater said coldly.

"I think they're a little misguided but sweet… if I'm being honest I'm kinda jealous" Jessie sighed as they continued dancing.

"Why do you like Zack?" Slater asked, trying to mask his disappointment.

Frowning Jessie met Slater's gaze as she stopped dancing and stood in front of him.

"Of course I don't like him; he's in love with my best friend" Jessie stated.

"What's this really about Jes, every time I bring up my feelings; you change the subject or walk away. Am I imagining this thing between us because I really like you. I know it's not the most ideal time and I can't give you everything you want right now but if you give me a little time. I promise I can be the man of your dreams'' Slater expressed.

Exchanging shy smiles Jessie absorbed Slater's words like a sponge and instantly all of her hesitations fell.

"You're not imagining this thing between us I feel it too but being back at Bayside with you. All these old feelings have resurfaced and I got scared it feels so right with you. There's so much going on and it's really confusing but one thing I do know is that… I love you Bubba" Jessie explained.

"I love you too; Mama" Slater exclaimed as he leaned in and kissed her.

. . .

Tightening his grip around Lisa's waist Zack ran his fingers along the curves of her back as Lisa rested her head against Zack's chest. Even though the music was playing in the background all Zack could think about is how perfectly Lisa fits in his arms. Her brown eyes lingered on him, as he flashed his signature Zack Morris smile. Staring at her lips Zack cupped Lisa's cheeks in his hands and he pulled her into a kiss. Even though they were in the center of a crowded room the entire world faded away, each kiss sweeter felt than the last.

Taking another look Zack smiled at her sweetly as Lisa breathlessly gazed up at him. They leaned toward one another again, Lisa closed her eyes in anticipation of another kiss.

. . .

Placing her ID card back into her purse Kelly took a sip of her glass of rosé before she scanned the gym for a place to sit. After her conversation with Lisa there was no way in hell she was going back to the group's table. Making her way through the crowd she met the eager wave of Louise and her nerdy friends. Forcing a smile in their direction Kelly searched for another table. It was bad enough she came here by herself but to sit with Louise she would have truly hit rock bottom. Scanning from left to right she noticed a pretty black girl sitting by herself, sitting with a stranger versus fake friends is the lesser of two evils. Taking another sip of her drink Kelly rolled her shoulders back and smiled.

"Can I sit here?" Kelly asked as she held the back of the chair.

"Yeah" Vivianne said as she continued drinking her drink.

"Hi I'm Kelly" Kelly said.

"Hi I'm Vivianne" Vivianne sighed.

Sitting together Kelly and Vivianne silently drank their cocktails and they people watched.

"Well... tonight sucks" Kelly stressed.

"Tell me about it. I started the night making out with Zack Morris on a rooftop and now I'm sitting alone while he's making out with his ex" Vivianne sighed as she pointed to Zack and Lisa.

Noticing Lisa and Zack making out in the center of the dance floor Kelly rolled her eyes.

"Yeah he has a tendency to do that, but don't take it too personally he was into her when we we're married too and the second we got divorced he conveniently got engaged to her." Kelly glared.

Vivianne nearly choked on her drink as she whipped her head toward Kelly.

"Wait… wait Zack was married to you and engaged to her. He conveniently left that part out" Vivianne gasped.

"Welcome to the bad soap opera I can't seem to escape" Kelly sighed as she chugged the remainder of her wine.

"He's such a liar" Vivianne glared as she stared at Zack and Lisa dancing.

"From one scorned woman to another don't waste your time despite what he says he'll always be in love with Lisa" Kelly said as she took her empty glass and walked away.

Watching Kelly walk away Vivianne drank the rest of her chardonnay and migrated through the crowd.

Deepening the kiss, Zack gripped Lisa's hips, as they continued dancing to the music.

"May I cut in," Viviane asked.

Opening her eyes Lisa searched for the face that belonged to the voice, shock stole her emotions and her breath. When she saw the beautiful black girl with curly brown hair and how much she resembled her.

"Hey Vivianne… umm what's going on" Zack asked nervously.

"I thought we could dance," Vivianne asked.

"Zack who is this?" Lisa snapped as she glared at him.

Feeling like the wind was taken from his lungs as both women waited for his response.

Realizing he wasn't going to say anything Vivianne interjected.

"Hi I'm Vivianne, his date; who are you?" Vivianne sassed.

"Oh no don't worry about me I was just leaving?" Lisa said as her glare at Zack.

"So she's the one that got away" Vivianne observed as Lisa walked away.

"WHAT the Hell Vivianne" Zack yelled.

"Don't you play the victim while you were sticking your tongue down your ex fiancé's throat. I was having an amazing conversation with your ex wife. I guess I just got confused on which girl I was supposed to be helping you get back with. I put my feelings for you aside and tried to help you get with your ex back and you lied to me… gosh I feel like such a fool" Viviane glared as she turned on her heels and walked away.

"Lisa" Zack yelled as he ran after her and met her in the high school hallway.

Ignoring the pounding of her heart and anger Lisa turned around and met the hazel eyes of her ex.

"What do you want from me huh Zack, what more could you possibly have to say that I haven't already heard a million times before. I chose you… I chose you over my husband like an idiot thinking this time was going to be different, that you were finally choosing me. However, there's another girl… there's always another girl" Lisa stressed as tears welled in her warm brown eyes.

"Lisa let me explain" Zack stressed as he took a step towards her

"Is she even real or did you build her in a lab with Screech?" Lisa stressed.

"I'll admit I was only interested in her because she looks like you but she could never be you" Zack claimed.

"When you have sex with her… do you pretend its me?" Lisa asked as she searched his eyes.

"I've never slept with her… I swear" Zack stressed as he reached for her hand.

"I'm tired Zack… so tired of missing you, I'm tired of pretending like I don't love you but mostly I'm tired of waiting for something that's never going to happen" Lisa expressed as she pulled away from him.

Pouting in complete and utter sadness Lisa rested her hands as tears crept through her fingers and broke down and sobbed.

"I'm so sorry I hurt you, there's not a day that goes by that I don't miss you, that I don't love you. I'm so sorry Lisa" Zack whispered as he kissed her forehead.

About to give up even though he's pissed at her Vivianne's advice to fight for Lisa resonated in his mind.

"Forgive me… for being selfish and reckless with your heart. Forgive me for hurting you Lisa. I'm so sorry that when we we're together I wasn't strong enough, mature enough, man enough to love you the way you deserve" Zack said.

"I love you" Zack whispered as he wrapped his hands around her waist and pulled her close enough to him so Lisa could feel his heart racing in his chest.

Holding onto his each and every word as though her entire life depended on it she bit down on her bottom lip. Glancing up at him Lisa hesitantly met his gaze. While her chest tightened and her throat burned in a desperate attempt to contain her tears.

"I want to believe you I really do but my heart can't take this anymore Zack. What would make this time any different" Lisa asked.

"Because now I know now it feels to miss you, to wake up without you. To live with the all consuming pain in my chest, knowing that I let the best thing that ever happened to me slip through my fingers. Lisa I know its a lot to ask and after everything I put you through I have no right. Even if we never get back together can you find it in your heart to forgive me" Zack stressed as he gazed upon her longingly.

Cupping her cheeks in his hands he stared into her eyes as she stared back into his.

"Please forgive me" Zack whispered.

They've been together all their lives but every time she looked into his eyes it felt like the very time. His gaze lingered upon her as he stared longingly at her, steading her breathing Lisa's defenses fell as her pensive expression slowly morphed into her shy smile. High off his words and completely enchanted by his hazel eyes she wrapped her arms around his shoulders.

"I forgive you" Lisa whispered as she fluttered her long lashes in his direction. Leaning toward him she tilted her head towards him as he kissed her. Still high off his kiss and enchanted by his words Lisa gripped a fist of his hair and deepened their kiss.

"I found them" a voice exclaimed from down the hall.

Instantly recognizing Kelly's voice, Lisa looked over Zack's shoulder and met Kelly's concerned expression. Expecting to exchange glares instead Kelly smiled at her.

"There you guys are; we're going to the Max, do you want to join us?" Jessie asked.

Wrapping his arms around Jessie's shoulder Slater gave Zack a nod of approval knowing they got their girls back.

"What would a high school reunion be if we didn't go to the Max" Zack exclaimed as he wrapped his arms around Lisa.

"Now we're truly back at Bayside" Lisa whispered as she snuggled into Zack's embrace.
