(THIRD PERSON'S PERSPECTIVE)
"YES, I CAUGHT IT!" Beastboy shouted joyfully.
"Finally." Raven scoffed, keeping her eyes on the ancient pages of her book.
A petite brume washed over Jump City. As we know, nothing can stop the Titans.
They fight under the sun, under rain, and in the snow.
So, why can't they play in the fog?
The boys were all intensely playing football like it was a match of life and death.
Their shouts and chuckles stamped the dense, silver air. Other civilians were scattered amongst the park, playing games of their own or lounging.
Raven read her book silently near a tree as Starfire meditated upside down beside her.
"Azarath, Metrion, Zinthos. Azarath, Metrion, Zinthos. Azarath, Metrion, Zinthos. Raven?" Starfire opened one eye.
"Yes, Starfire?" The empath's pupils still swam across the pages like fish.
"After so many years I never thought I would make it." Starfire's orange face was becoming red.
"What do you mean?" Raven asked.
"Fighting certain battles for so long. At one point I got so tired and lost all the courage I possessed." Raven closed her novel and gave her friend undivided attention.
"Now I am here. With people who accept me and love me for who I am. People who stick by my side no matter what goes on." Starfire flipped into a normal posture.
"I understand. I used to be there, too." Raven agreed.
"If I wasn't in that horrible place, I would not have learned the true definition of hope. I would not be able to learn to persevere. I would not be able to learn how to pull strength from my weakest areas. I would not be me." Starfire twiddled with her apricot shaded fingers.
"You're right. I don't think any of us would be. But with all darkness comes light. In the darkest hour is where we find our brightest shine. Do you know the little line on the heart rate machines in hospitals?" Raven questioned.
"DUDE, NO FAIR YOU PUSHED IT OUT OF MY HANDS!" Beastboy yelled.
"I DIDN'T! YOU JUS' GOT BUTTER FINGERS!" Cyborg retorted.
"Guys, we are the "Teen Titans", not "Toddler Titan. Act like it, please." Robin groaned.
The girls shared a brief laugh, overhearing their friends.
"Yes, I do. The little zig-zag ones like triangular hills?" Starfire replied.
"Do you notice how they go up and down?" Raven quizzed again.
"Indeed."
"That is life. It brings you to ups and downs. As long as your heart rate moves on a screen, as long as you are alive... you will go through ups and downs. But, as long as it beeps, as long as it moves, that's where the beauty of life is." Starfire's lime eyes coruscated with hope.
"Aw! Raven, how sincere! That truly gave me a different outlook. I am so glad to have you as my friend." Starfire grabbed Raven into a bone-crumbling embrace.
"I-I am glad you are my friend, too, Star-fire." Raven slowly enveloped her arms around the Tamaranean.
"One more question?" Starfire backed off.
"Of course."
"What is the point of being on a peak in life, knowing that eventually you will go back down to a valley again?" the alien's question stupefied the silver hybrid.
And it should have.
Why?
Do you have an answer to that question?
