Thoughts

Memories

Izuku placed his hands on the railing that surrounds the rooftop of the building that he's on. The very same building where All Might shattered his dreams all those months ago.

Without Power, can one become a hero? No, I should think not.

Climbing over the railing he couldn't help but notice how the street below looked so peaceful. The city lights casting a warm glow on empty streets, the lull in the chaos that has been basically non-stop. Just.. Silence.

You wanna be a hero so bad? I've got a time saving idea for you. If you think you'll have a quirk in your next life.. Go take a swan dive off the roof!

The cold winter breeze picked up, cutting Izuku straight to the bone causing him to wrap his arms around himself. Memories coming to flood his mind as tears fall down his cheeks to the street below.

You're totally Quirkless!

I'm afraid there's no hope for him

I'm Sorry, Izuku. I'm so Sorry!

Don't you dare get into U.A nerd.

Hizashi Yamada whistled as he walked through the abandoned street holding his grocery bags. He had gotten finished with patrol later than usual due to the impending snow storm which left him with shopping at dark. Not a terrible thing just not his thing. He preferred to shop in the day time when streets were bustling and lively. His whistled tune was cut off abruptly as he felt a drop of something wet hit his face.

'Rain?'

He moved a hand up to brush the water droplet off his nose as another droplet hit his forehead. Looking up at the sky to see if he could see any other droplets caused him to tense for a moment. Out of his peripheral vision movement on the top of a nearby building caught his attention.

'Sho?'

After a moment he could see the figure moving closer, climbing over the rail and into the glow cast by the street lights. The person coming into the light made his stomach clench as if he had just taken a physical blow.

'Why..?'

He couldn't just stand here, he had to move. He's a Hero. He needs to save him, has to save one of the students he teaches.

'Move!'

Snapping himself from his thoughts he dropped his groceries on the ground and took off towards the building entrance.

'Little Listener... Don't jump, Please Don't Jump'

Feeling as if someone is watching him, Izuku opens his eyes to glance around before shaking his head.

"Must have been my imagination.." His spoke softly as he glanced up at the sky. A serene smile slowly spreading across his lips as he sees the first flakes of snow starting to fall.

Deku, the quirkless wonder.

You need to be realistic kid.

Totally useless after saving a single person.

I cannot approve of you.

Eraserhead just wanted to go inside and curl up to sleep. It's been a boring patrol with everyone already inside due to the impending snow storm. Which is why he's jumping from rooftop to rooftop, because he would never admit it but he's bored. He should have known thinking along those lines never ended well as he sees a figure on the edge of a roof a few buildings.

Moving as fast as his legs would go, he parkour-ed his way from his rooftop to the next. Continuing the pattern until he finally lands on the same rooftop as the figure. Landing there wasn't as smooth as he'd like as he looses his footing as he sees just who the figure is. Green hair and red boots unmistakable.. it's his problem child.

'Kid..'

Izuku trapped in his own world, is completely unaware to the fact someone is on the roof with him. He moves his hands out to his sides to feel the cold air caress him as if he was flying.

Useless

Worthless

Deku

You're nothing compared to me!

"I know that Kacchan, even when I tried so damned hard.." A soft broken whisper escaping to float on the wind. "Even so.. with a quirk I'm not enough." His words now just barely above a whisper, he glances up at the sky. Tear streaks staining his face but no new ones fall, his eyes dull as he tilts himself forward over the edge.

'Is this.. peace?'

A relaxed smile comes to his lips as the memories finally stop and he's left with nothing but the sense of calm as he freefalls.

Hizashi makes it to the roof opening the stairwell door just in time to see Izuku go over the edge. A panicked cry rips from his throat "No! Izuku!" His quirk amplifying his anguish as he rushes forward.

Something catches him around his waist interrupting his peace. Eyes snapping open as he feels himself being tugged back up towards the roof. It seems to last forever just floating and being brought back to the top, over the ledge of the building then finally yanked over the railing and into a tight grip. Followed immediately by another grip just as tight. "Wha?"

Hearts racing, that's his answer, that's all he can focus on, the two hearts racing and the feeling of the fabric that is still wrapped around him.

"Little Listener..." the voice is just above a whisper, it flitters through his mind as he slowly starts to become more aware.

'Why is it so sad?'

"Dammit Kid! What the hell were you thinking Izuku!" This voice cracks with the raw emotion as one set of the arms try to tighten even more around him.

"Mr. Aizawa? Mr. Yamada?" Lifting his head he looks at the two people that are clinging to him, confused. "They look so broken, but.. he's just a worthless Deku... right?" He speaks his thoughts not even noticing.

Hizashi is the first to move, and even then he doesn't move much, just enough that instead of having both arms wrapped around Izuku, he has one free. With a hand free he moves it to soothingly rub circles on Aizawa's back to try and help calm him.

"Little Listener, you aren't worthless or a Deku. Your worth is immeasurable, because there is only one you."

Aizawa lifts his head finally and starts to loosen his grip as he takes a deep breath before he tries to speak. "Zashi is right kid.. you're my problem child. We are always going to be here for you. But we can't help you if you don't talk to us."

Izuku looks up at both of his teachers his throat closing as he breaks down in heart wrenching sobs. "I-I'm so s-sorry! I-I j-just.. I didn't think...I didn't think anyone would care, no one has before."

And didn't that just break both of the pro- heroes hearts.
