Naruto Uzumaki, 11 years old, academy student. 6 months out from the Genin Exams, which he already failed twice, but third time's the charm. Naruto knew that this year was the year!

Who was he kidding? He couldn't even do a simple jutsu like the clone jutsu, what hope did he have of passing that damn exam? No! He couldn't think like this! He was gonna be Hokage one day, this test will be nothing compared to that! All he had to do was that damn clone technique!
As he got up from his bed, he moved to the bathroom, turning on the tap to find nothing coming out. Again. He sighed, knowing that if he took it to the landlord again, he could be evicted. Naruto simply put up with it, and went to get some breakfast, before noticing something in the mirror. He looked back at it to see a glowing blue screen. He turned to where the screen was, and low and behold, there it was.

"W-what the hell is this?" asked Naruto, looking at the screen. "Quest? Like a video game?" asked Naruto. "Okay… probably a genjutsu."
"How do I get rid of those again?" he asked. "Well, I do need to fix my water anyway, so might as well." said the boy as he went down to the water taps. Upon arriving, he saw that his one was turned off again, so he opened it up and went back to his apartment. On the way up to his apartment, another screen appeared before him, this time with a different message.

Naruto was still shocked by these screens, so he went back into his apartment and sat on his bed looking at the screen. "The hell is this thing? Is it like a game or something? Like one of those RPGs Chouji was talking about before. Okay then, status?"

Welcome to the Status Page! Here, you can determine your level, stats, and perks and afflictions to your physical body. Your stats are made up of strength, intelligence, vitality, dexterity, charisma and luck. You can increase these stats by levelling up and getting stat points or by physical training. You also have two bars, a chakra bar and a health bar. The health bar will show you what condition your body is in as well as how hurt you are. The chakra bar will show you how much chakra you have left in your body and what jutsu you can perform. You can also check your exhaustion levels by looking at the fatigue stat. If the fatigue stat is over 70, you will not be able to run until it returns to 40, so be mindful of that. Now, onto the actual status page.

[Jutsu and skills may seem similar and run in similar ways, but they are different. Jutsu is the moulding of your chakra in order to perform ninja techniques such as clone and transformation jutsu. Skills can be anything from taijutsu to cooking skills, and both can be increased through constant training and use. Be sure to train your jutsu and skills every day to become as strong as possible.]

"Guh… this is gonna be my whole Sunday, isn't it?" asked Naruto. "Alright then, how about stats?"
[Stats are the quantified total of physical attributes, and can be gained by either training or leveling up to get stat points. Everyone without this ability gets their points randomly placed into stats, but you have the ability to place them as you see fit. Be sure to watch out for afflictions which affect your stats. Stats affect the following physical attributes.
Strength - Your physical strength. What you can carry, use and the base of some weapons attack power. Useful for increasing CP.
Intelligence - How smart you are and what you remember. Useful for increasing CP.
Vitality - Your stamina and liveliness. Used for HP as well as HP and CP recovery speed, as well as lowering fatigue rates and increasing fatigue recovery.
Dexterity - Your speed. Used for top speeds as well as hand sign speed.
Charisma - How well you can barter, influence and inspire others. You are a voice.
Luck - No skill, all luck. Helps with gambling, lucky throws and critical hits.]

"Okay, can you just give them to me at once to save time?" asked Naruto.
[Okay.]
"Wait what?"
[The leveling system is easy to understand, the higher your level, the stronger you are. Levels are an indicator of power as well as rank, since ninja ranks have level caps. An academy student can reach a max level of 15, a Genin can reach level 30, a Chunnin can reach level 50 and a Jonin can reach level 80. To reach a higher level, one must become a Kage (Note that Kage means a powerful ninja who has mastered their craft, not the Hokage or another Kage, but you can use that as well to reach higher levels).]
[Quests can come at any time and be about anything. Ninja missions are automatically made quests, and reward you with EXP and can sometimes reward you with money, jutsu scrolls, equipment, reputation points and information. Quests can come in a multitude of forms.
Regular Quests - A quest that has one or two objectives and can be completed in a short time period, usually a few minutes to a week.
Long Term Quests - A quest with one or two objectives and has to be completed over a long period of time, usually months to years. Has higher rewards than regular quests.
Chain Quests - Quests that chain together into a long and elaborate quest. Usually mid period of a week or two, but can continue on for months. Regular quests rewards in multiple increments (Say if the quest chained into 5, you would receive the rewards of around 5 or more regular quests).
Emergency quest - These quests can appear at any moment and cannot be turned down. These can be the result of a dangerous person being about to kill you or any other type of stressful situation. Rewards are slightly worse than a Long Term Quest but the consequences are the worst, usually death or something of equal value.
Quests have main objectives that must be completed, and bonus objectives that can be completed for extra rewards, but don't have to be for the quest to be completed.]
[Your reputation is how others view you, ranging from individual people, groups, cities and countries. From lowest to highest levels, the reputation levels are as follows.
Despised - Will attempt to kill you if the opportunity arose. (-60% reputation points and -50% teamwork is working together)
Hated - Hates you with every fibre of their being. (-50% reputation points and -30% teamwork if working together)
Disliked - They kinda hate you. (-25% reputation points and -20% teamwork if working together)
Unfriendly - Doesn't really like you but will work with you if they have to. (-15% reputation points and -10% teamwork if working together)
Neutral - Doesn't really think that much of you. You're kinda a cool guy, but they wouldn't go out of their way for you.
Friendly - They kinda like you. (+15% reputation points and +10% teamwork if working together.)
Well Liked - You're a close friend and they have your back no matter what. (+25% reputation points and +20% teamwork if working together.)
Honoured - You reached the top. They will do anything for you, and trust you completely. (+50% reputation points and +30% teamwork if working together. Additional +10% teamwork if bar is full.)
Reputation also plays a key role in your romantic life. Your preferred gender, as long as they like guys, will appear with a romance bar, and the more it fills up, the more they want to be with you. You can only go so far with this bar without breaking limits. The limits are as follows.
Would never - Would never even consider it, even if you two were the last people on earth.
Not interested - If the situation called for it, such as you being the last people on Earth, they would, but only then.
Not opposed - Not against the idea of dating you, but won't go out of their way to making it happen.
Interested - Thinks you're cute.
Very interested - Thinks you're very cute and wouldn't mind a one night stand.
Crush - Wants to date you.
Love - Loves you.
Girlfriend - Dating.
Fiance - Engaged to be married.
Wife - Married and happy together.]
[Perks and afflictions are significantly different. Perks are positive boons that can give stat increases or other positive effects. If you develop a mystery perk, that means that you can only get it's effects when you learn of why you have the perk, but if you have no way of finding out or already know, then the perk will give its effects to you. For example, there was no way that you'd find out about the perk Blessing of Hotei, meaning that the effects are known to you and you can use them.
Afflictions are different. They are caused by actions you or others have taken which impacts your body in a negative fashion. You may not know all the reasons for the affliction, but their effects are known and active in your body. You may resolve these afflictions through hard work or by ingesting an antidote if you are poisoned.]

"Kinda…" muttered Naruto. As the other screens disappeared, one reappeared with a new message.
[Good enough, you can come back to it later. Here, have a +2 to your intelligence stat for reading all that. Good job kid.]
"This is amazing!" said Naruto. "If this keeps up, I can be a super cool ninja way faster than before! And Maybe I can finally beat that jerk Sasuke!"
Breaking out of his thought process, he thought to himself to see how well he could do some training with his new abilities. That being said, he had nowhere to train but the academy, and they didn't allow students to train on the weekends without teacher supervision. He had to get a teacher to agree to help him.
Iruka. Naruto had to bug Iruka.
Naruto quickly got dressed, put on his jumpsuit, and went off to Iruka's apartment.
"Naruto?" asked Iruka as he opened his front door. "What's the matter?"
"Iruka-sensei! I was wondering if you could help me train." said his favourite blonde. "I need to get better for the exam, but I need some help. Please!"
"I'm proud of you for taking the initiative, Naruto. Sure, I'd love to help. How about we go get Ichiraku Ramen after this too?" said Iruka, genuinely happy to spend his day with Naruto.
"YIPPEE! I'm going to be the best ninja in the academy, believe it!" said Naruto. Iruka smiled.
"Come on, let's head out. Did you bring all your shuriken and kunai knives?"
"Yep! All ready to go!" said Naruto. He began running down to the academy. Iruka smirked, quickly picking up his pouch and flak jacket, rushing off after Naruto.
"Wait for me Naruto!" Iruka called out after Naruto, rushing off to catch up.
Naruto was rushing off through the city, Iruka hot on his heels, and stopped for a moment to let Iruka catch up. When he did, he got a pair of new screens.

Bloodlust? Was this due to his pariah status? It seemed to be the affliction that caused everyone to hate him given the negative effects it had. When Iruka caught up to him, Naruto looked up at him. "Hey, Iruka-sensei, what's a pariah?"
"A pariah? Well, a pariah is someone who has been rejected and cast out of the people he cares about, why?" he asked. Quickly thinking up a lie, Naruto responded with the first thing he thought of.
"I heard someone talking about it yesterday and didn't know what it meant. The mean old lady at the library doesn't let me in the library, so I couldn't look it up in a dictionary, not that I'd know how to spell it anyway." he said.

"Taijutsu today, and maybe some shurikenjutsu as well." said Naruto.
"Alright, sounds good." said Iruka as the two walked into the academy and onto the training grounds. "We'll start with a taijutsu spar."
"Right!" said Naruto, getting into his starting stance.
"Naruto… what the hell is that?" asked Iruka.
"The basic academy stance?" said Naruto, looking at his sensei in confusion.
"No it isn't. That's all wrong. You aren't crouching down enough, so you're weak against low attacks, and the way your hands are positioned makes it so you can only protect the front of your face, not the sides of it." said Iruka.
"B-but Mizuki-sensei taught me this." said Naruto. "He said that if I used this stance instead, I could beat Sasuke."
"Did he now?" muttered Iruka under his breath. "Well, forget about that. I'm going to fix it up for you. Come on now, crouch a little lower, hands further apart. Yeah, there we go. Now, let's actually start by practicing on a training stump." said Iruka, pointing to a padded training stump, and Naruto looked down at it for a brief moment before three new screens appeared.

Naruto kept punching the training post, harder, and harder, and harder, yelling with each swing of his fists. Mizuki did something, and tried to hinder him! He'd show him, all of them, that he could become Hokage!
"Naruto! That's enough." said Iruka, looking at him with worry. "You okay?"
"Not really. Why did Mizuki-sensei try to hold me back?" he asked.
"It's not important now, Naruto. I'll help you. How about this, we come back here every Sunday for extra training? You, me and Ichiraku afterwards. Sounds good?" offered Iruka. Naruto smiled, nodding happily.
"Thanks Iruka-sensei! I'm gonna make it known to the whole village that you're the best teacher when I become Hokage!" said Naruto. He then went into a thinking position. "I'm thinking we need a cool title for you. Teacher of the Hokage just doesn't seem all that impressive. What about… He who never gave up on the Hokage? Nah, kinda long. What about…"
"Maybe we can think of it later, Naruto, how about we skip that and move onto training." said Iruka.
"Sounds good." said Naruto, when another screen popped up.

"Okay Iruka-sensei. I'm gonna do it, believe it!" screamed Naruto. He raced over to the arena. Iruka nodded and smirked, walking over as well. Whilst he was doing so, Naruto quickly used [Observe].

"Now Naruto, I'm going to take this easy on you. I'll use about 10% of my power. That cool?"
"No way Iruka, go for 20%!" screamed Naruto, thinking of a way to get Iruka to use 20% quickly. Iruka simply chuckled.
"Maybe if you can handle 10%, sure. But for now, I'll only use 10. Ready?" asked Iruka.
"Ready, Iruka-sensei." said Naruto.
"Alright then, let's begin." said Iruka, adopting his stance. Naruto did the same, and the two of them charged. Naruto punched first, but Iruka caught it, lightly throwing Naruto up into the air. Naruto tried to punch Iruka in mid air, but Iruka dodged under his fist and punched Naruto in the stomach. Naruto was sent to the ground, but quickly got back up and charged Iruka again, going for his legs this time. Iruka was prepared since he had honed his style, and Naruto couldn't hit his legs at all. "Not bad, Naruto, but you'll have to do better than that." he said. Naruto smiled and charged once more, trying to punch Iruka again. Iruka sighed, and caught Naruto's fist, but then Naruto did something Iruka didn't see coming.
Naruto punched his hand.
Iruka was in no pain, but was shocked that Naruto thought of that. Naruto then jumped up at him, his fist still in his teacher's grasp, and tried to kick him, but Iruka caught Naruto's leg. "Alright then Naruto, 20% it is." Iruka then threw Naruto into the air again, and Naruto came flying down into Iruka's fist. Naruto was winded, and fell to the ground.

"Y-yeah, just give me a minute." said Naruto, sitting up and panting. After a minute had passed, Naruto stood up and gave a thumbs up to Iruka. "Okay, good to go."
"Alright then. Now, let's go to the range and practice your shurikenjutsu." said Iruka, leading Naruto to the range. They stood in front of 5 targets, wooden stumps with target boards on them. Naruto took out one of his shuriken, throwing it with all his might, but missed the target completely.
"Damnit!" said Naruto, looking down at the shuriken in his hand, before his eyes went wide.

Naruto rummaged through them all, shuriken, Kunai, the whole load. He even levelled up his [Observe] skill twice. The real icing on the cake was when he cast observe on his weapon pouch.

Naruto screamed, throwing that to the ground as well.
"Naruto…" muttered Iruka, holding a kunai and shuriken. "Where did you get these?"
"T-the academy shop." said Naruto. "They always sold out for a few days, then the shopkeeper would sell me these ones at a larger price, saying he special ordered them in for me. I was an idiot and never questioned it."
"Don't worry, Naruto. Here." said Iruka, handing him a shuriken, one of his. Naruto took it, casting [Observe] on it.
[Academy Shuriken (Common)
A shuriken used by the academy of the leaf village for training. They are blunter than regular shurikens, but have the same weight and balance, making them a less dangerous version of the regular weapon.

Naruto looked at his teacher, seeing him smile brought one back to his face. Now, Naruto pulled back his throwing arm and shot off one shot, which flew right into the centre at a speed so ridiculous that it cracked the target. Naruto looked back at Iruka, who was beaming at him. Naruto beamed too, and Iruka had him throw 13 more shuriken at the targets.

"Great job, Naruto." said Iruka. "How about we finish off the day with the obstacle course?"
"Sweet! I'll beat my old best, believe it!" exclaimed Naruto.
"Alright then, come along. We'll get started now." said Iruka, leading Naruto to the beginner obstacle course. "Now, you know the drill. Climb up the flat wall, jump down, get across the pedestals, over the balance bridge, then the apex ladder and finish with the dodging panels. Go!"
Naruto rushed to the first obstacle, the flat wall. It was on a bit of an incline since it was a beginner course, so Naruto quickly ran up it, as fast as his legs would carry him, and latched onto the edge of the wall, pulling himself up and over the ledge, he jumped down onto the ground, and began jumping between pedestals. Below him was a pool of mud, so he had to be careful not to fall in like he had done before, before reaching the end and jumping down onto the balance bridge. Luckily, this was the beginner balance bridge, which means it wasn't coated in oils, and Naruto did a quick ninja run over them. Naruto then quickly ran up the apex ladder, which was actually held in place and not with spinning logs like the advanced one. After making his descent, he ran over to the final obstacles, the dodging panels and ran through them, tripping and falling to the ground in one instance, but Naruto quickly got back up and ran through the rest of them, running for the last stretch over the finish line.

"Maybe you will one day, but you need to improve your time by over half a minute. How about we call it here for today and go get some ramen?" asked Iruka. Naruto smiled at it, and walked off with his teacher, to Ichiraku Ramen for a victory bowl.
