"Naruto, please no! Don't leave me. You promised me Naruto! You promised you won't leave me."
Naruto jolted awake, drawing deep breaths as he tried to calm down his ragged and labored breathing. He shook his head and headed straight for the bathroom. Splashing his face with cold water, he felt himself slowly waken as the calm serene moonlight streamed in from the windows at the side. As he looked up, vulpine amber eyes as he took in his reflection in the mirror.
His golden hair were messy, and the tails behind him were ratty and unkempt. He sighed as sleep slowly left his foggy mind. Might as well take a shower now that he's awake. As the cool waters hit his toned and muscular chest, his mind wandered yet again to the dream that interrupted his serene and peaceful sleep.
He had been having that dream for as long as he could remember. And since his father's death, the dreams have taken a more somber and depressing turn. He kept seeing desperate obsidian eyes that clung to him, sometimes begging him; sometimes spiteful of promises broken, of words not kept. He remember the feeling of warmth surrounding him and yet the cold touch of death, a somber and unsettling feeling of leaving someone behind, someone that loved him dearly and whom he loves dearly.
The young heir of the Namikaze empire looked down at his clawed hands as he tried to make sense of the dreams. He haven't broken a promise to anyone. The only ones he really loved are his mother and father. And yet, he kept dreaming about a man… and a child that he should protect but couldn't; of two most important people- so unknown to him and yet something tells him that he loves them just the same.
And now that he's all alone, it confused him what more he could have possibly left behind. Didn't he fulfill his promises to his father and his mother? Didn't he protect what remained of the Vulpini tribes when the Lycan tribes stole their lands from them?
He rescued what little he could of the remaining broken Vulpini tribes and settled anew in Suna, rebuilding the gasping empire of Uzoshio under the banner of the Bijuu Enterprises. After his father's death the Lycan tribes have encroached heavily in the lands and territories of the Vulpini. Though Naruto inherited a thriving business empire with an unrivaled political clout, his inexperience as a Kitsune combined with his trusting nature and his father's rivals emboldened by the Vulpini Patriarch's death have left the once vast and powerful group crippled.
One by one its allies conspired against them, breaking off promises, blocking off trade routes, increasing taxes and raising tariffs on whatever branch that remained of the once mighty and far-reaching Uzoshio. And yet Naruto learned, grew and rebuilt what little he could. After retreating to their last remaining branch in Suna, Naruto reunited with his childhood friend Gaara and through his help was able to slowly rebuild the Uzoshio empire from the ground up.
He couldn't use the Uzoshio name; otherwise its enemies could target the fledgling company that the young omega has rebuilt. And so he renamed the Uzoshio into Bijuu Enterprises; after the Bijuu Intelligences that his long lost brother Kurama founded as an intelligence network for their father.
Naruto have long lost touch of his brother. But he wanted to honor the man at the very least. He would sooner emerge from the shower with a fresher mind. Donning a white kimono with orange rims, he made his way to his office to get some work done. At the very least, getting his mind busy once more would take it off the strange and bizarre dreams that have been growing in intensity ever since his father's death.
The young omega thought that it could just be the isolation and loneliness that he felt following his parent's deaths that have triggered them and so he tried busying himself with work. For a time it seemed to have done the trick. Plus, his dedication to his work gave the Bijuu company some much needed boost.
"You're up early today Naruto-kun."
Naruto's own amber eyes met with Konan's amber ones. The omega smiled warmly at his cousin.
"Yeah well, there's a lot of work to do Konan-neechan. Plus, Nagato-niisan would get mad if I don't finalize that proposal to acquire Gato's Shipping Company. I already begged him for the third extension when I failed to finish it last night."
The lavender-haired girl chuckled and shook her head. Her cousin may have inherited his father's genius in business, but he also inherited the man's carefree attitude. Minato is not as bad at putting off work as Naruto however and his hot-headed wife was always there to give him the shove and push he needs when he gets too lax with his work.
But right now, her cousin have no one to push him to work harder. So even with his natural talents, there's still times that he had to rush his work just because he waited until the last hour to do them.
"Well, you know how important that lane is to him, dear cousin. It would connect our branch at Ame to Suna, after all."
"I know, I know. I just wish he's more patient. I'm finalizing the plans anyway." Konan just shook her head. Naruto is the type to complain a lot, but does the job anyway. So she's not all too worried. Besides, for all his faults, Naruto was able to revive their defunct branches at Ame in such a short time and was even able to befriend the Lycan tribes at Wave country, a feat that's almost impossible for the Vulpini tribes given their strong rivalry with the Lycan tribes.
"Don't worry about it dear cousin. Nagato may scold you for now, but he's only looking out for you and the tribes. His loyalty for your father has only strengthened his loyalty for you after all. Ahhh before I forget, Yahiko wanted me to relay a message for you."
Naruto perked up upon hearing his cousin's name. Yahiko was the leader of the new spy network for the fledgling Bijuu Empire, replacing Kurama's defunct Bijuu Intelligences. In its place, Akatsuki rose, and its influence has only grown under Yahiko's leadership. They now have informants in almost every land as far as they're concerned.
"Oh yeah? What did he say?"
"It's about Konoha. You wanted a report on it, yes?"
"Right. I don't know why. But that place kept popping in my dreams. We never even set foot into it, neesan. Weird, right?"
Konan frowned. She knew of her cousin's dreams and even Yahiko and Nagato couldn't figure them out. Uzoshio had never conducted business with Konoha in the past, even at its prime.
"Don't worry about it, Naruto-kun. I'm sure time will reveal everything. At any rate, Yahiko told me to tell you to stay away from Konoha. The vampire clans had it under their thumb for far too long already. It would be difficult to break into their commercial and political sphere now. It can cost us heavily if we try to enter into a mature market like Konoha."
Naruto only grinned mischievously. Oh how he loves a challenge. If his cousins tell him it's difficult or impossible, he'll always find ways to make it happen. They used to tell him how Ame was a lost cause too. And look at them now. Ame is now a thriving branch that has a strong potential to be the Bijuu Enterprises' new headquarters. Besides, it's getting cramped in Suna anyway.
But Naruto had his eyes set to Konoha for unknown reasons. He just felt attuned to that place, as if it's calling to him for far too long already.
"Can I ask you something, Konan-neechan?"
"Of course Naruto-kun. Ask me whatever."
"Since when have I ever let Yahiko-niisan or Nagato-niisan stop me before?" Konan could barely suppress her laugh. It's true though. Naruto, despite being an omega has never submitted to any of his alpha cousins. And though she knew that the two elder Uzumakis were just thinking rationally, she also knew that Naruto's intuitions have never steered them wrong before. It was the omega's judgment to retreat to Suna, it was his decision to approach the clan heads at Wave country that gained them the allegiance of the Lycan tribes there, and his conviction that restored Ame from the verge of bankruptcy.
At this point, she thinks that the other Uzumakis are just teasing their younger but more headstrong leader when they tell him not to do something; aware that for every moment they tell their younger cousin "no", it would further challenge the omega to oppose them and surprise them with even greater feats.
Konan thought for a moment that Yahiko's advise was deliberate. By telling Naruto not to bother with Konoha, the man knew that the omega would insist on going and acquire it. She smiled at the young omega.
"Never Naruto-kun. You always found ways to surprise them both."
Naruto grinned and by the looks on his eyes, Konan knew then that her intuition would be proven right.
"Damn right. Tell Nagato-niisan to stop Ame's trade deals with Konoha. If he can do that, I'll finalize the deal with Wave and acquire Gato's lanes for us. If he's not satisfied with that, I already sent Karin and Tayuya to Sound to finalize the deal with Orochimaru, too. Tell him that before the month will be over, we'll manage to choke out Konoha and acquire it for ourselves. If he's not convinced, remind him again that the land of Water is already trading exclusively with us. Frankly, I don't get why Yahiko-niisan's so concerned about Konoha. If the deals I planned push through, Konoha won't have any allies left. Once we take Konoha, it's just a matter of taking back our lands from the pesky Lycans that took it from us and we can revive Uzoshio without much fear."
Konan looked at her cousin with renewed respect. For all his faults, Naruto had been working to rebuild what he broke. True, at the start, Naruto's impulsive and trusting nature have nearly cost them everything. But he eventually managed to get the hang of running the clan and is now actively working to repair their broken Empire. Even when Minato's old rivals will intervene yet again, Konan is assured that with Naruto at the helm, their old Empire will rise unhindered once more.
"Of course. And after that, Naruto? What do you plan on doing next?"
"Why to get Konoha of course."
"And the vampires? Do they not bother you?"
"Tsk. Nothing like a little diplomacy can't fix. Trust me on this one. I have a good feeling about that place. It would serve as a great starting point in getting back Uzoshio to its former glory."
"If you say so Naruto-kun."
True to Naruto's words, Konan would later find that getting Konoha would be much simpler than they thought. Once Orochimaru agreed to cut off his ties with the Uchihas, the ruling elites of Konoha, buying out some of the more influential businesses and political entities in Konoha was simply a matter of pumping in money. And considering the finances they received from Naruto's deals, it's really not that difficult to offer an enticing incentive for the clans and businesses to work with them.
Slowly but surely, Naruto is buying out key properties and locations in Konoha, until he's able to establish the head office at the Hokage's district, the governing body of Konoha. Somehow, Naruto charmed his way into Hiruzen Sarutobi and his advisers, convincing them that what the Bijuu enterprises was offering was worth the Uchiha's ire.
And so they were allowed to hold a sizeable portion of Konoha's financial sector. While at this time it's not enough to fully gain control of the entire area, it's a huge step in getting Konoha under their company's thumb.
Though thinking about it, Konan still have no idea why Naruto is so set in getting Konoha when his goal had been Uzoshio all along. But if the young omega is actively working to revive their homeland, she's not complaining; even when they're doing it under a different name.
In any event, she's not all too bothered. As an Uzumaki, she too has always been loyal to the Namikazes. And she knows that their cousin, though young and inexperienced as he is will eventually pull through with his plans. She just need to support him when he needs it. And from what she knew of Yahiko and Nagato, she knows that they too would support the fledgling Namikaze whatever he chooses to do; even when they have this weird way of showing it.
