U.A. DORMS-DORMS COMMON AREA
''I'm boooooorreeeeeed!''
Most of the common room occupants couldn't help but mentally sigh as they gave a glance at a bored Mina Ashido who haphazardly laid on the main couch. ''It's too quiet!'' She whined again, not even caring if she might end up falling off the couch.
While most would disagree with the sentiment, her classmates had to agree, with the past weeks being filled with mostly handwritten lessons rather than combat training, things have been admittedly slow for everybody.
Suppressing another sigh, Momo lowered her book a bit. ''Then what do you suggest we do?'' She looked at Mina who lazily met her gaze. ''Obviously reviewing our notes isn't going to help and the training room is still under renovation from the incident.'' From another couch, Bakugou was about to cuss her out but was silenced when Kirishima hastily clamped a hardened hand over his mouth. ''And if I'm not mistaken, we're still grounded from going anywhere because of it.'' Beside her, Todoroki hummed in agreement to all her points as he flipped another page of his book.
From her position, Mina raised her hand to say something, before dropping it with a defeated sigh. ''You're right.'' She slumped in defeat.
Their conversation was interrupted when Toru and Ojiro emerged from the kitchen. ''I didn't know you like all colors too.'' The tail teen admitted with amusement.
Toru giggled as she nodded her invisible head. ''Why choose one when you can choose all of them!'' She waved her sleeves with glee while Ojiro watched her with a fond look.
Mina would have pointed this out but instead widened her eyes on something else as she shot up from the couch. ''That's it!'' Her cheerful outburst caused everyone to jump and look at her weirdly. ''Let's find out our favorite colors!'' She posed with an excited grin while everyone felt a slight intrigue at the suggestion.
Momo raised an eyebrow. ''Our favorite colors?'' She repeated as she placed a bookmark in her book before setting it down to give the pink teen her full attention. ''Forgive me, but I don't think that knowing everyone's favorite colors can remedy the boredom.'' She pointed out with a hint of doubt in her tone.
Mina waved it off. ''True, but it would be nice to take a break from it, even if it's for a little bit.'' She countered while they had to agree with her there, it certainly sounds better than constant boredom. ''Now with that said…'' She continued as she pointed to Todoroki. ''Todoroki! What's your favorite color?'' Deciding to go with it, they turned to the bi-colored teen in attention while Momo tried not to look eager as she waited for the teen's response as well.
Todoroki was silent for a bit, but eventually so no harm in it, and responded. ''Onyx.'' He said in his usual tone without taking his eyes off his book while beside him, Momo's composure crumpled as her face erupted with a heavy blush as she realized that he was referring to the color of her eyes.
''Kyaaaa! So adorable!'' Toru and Mina squealed, further increasing Momo's blush as she tried and failed to retort while beside her, Todoroki allowed himself to smile a bit. Meanwhile, everyone else was now into it as the earlier boredom vanished.
''Mine is red and white.'' Momo said after calming down a bit before burying her face in her hands with an embarrassed groan. She had no resistance as Todoroki used his right arm to bring her close to him and gave a quick kiss on her forehead that increased her blush, before continuing to read with one hand on the book while the other rubbed her arm affectionately as his smile grew a bit from her color choices.
The sight caused Mina and Toru to coo before she gestured to herself and Ojiro. ''Well I'm sure you guys already heard but…'' She suddenly surprised him by hugging his left arm. ''We have no favorites; we love all of them!'' The tail teen rubbed the back of his neck in embarrassment as she continued to hold him with a giggle.
While Mina stealthily took a picture for Toru, Kirishima gave Ojiro a thumbs up. ''Nice!'' He then proudly pointed to himself. ''Mine's crimson, like my hero, Crimson Riot!'' He gestured to the teen beside him. ''Bakugou's favorite is-''
''I can speak for myself shitty hair!'' Bakugou barked getting a goodhearted laugh from the hardening teen. ''Listen here you extras!'' They gave him an unimpressed look as he stood up while setting off mini-explosions from his palms. ''My favorite color is red! And don't you forget it!'' Thanks to his outburst, no one noticed Kirishima looking off to the side with a shy smile and a tiny blush on his cheeks.
From another couch, Sato hummed with a thoughtful look before shrugging. ''Huh, I guess mine's orange.'' He turned to Koda who was also sitting on the same couch with his pet bunny on his lap while everyone else focused on him. ''What about you Koda?'' While making sure his bunny was safe, the rock teen signed that he also likes the color orange, drawing a chuckle out of the sugar teen. ''Dang, who would have thought.'' He raised a fist towards the shy teen, who timidly bumped it with his fist.
Suddenly from behind their couch, Aoyama appeared and posed, causing Koda to jolt and hold his chest in surprise while his bunny was also startled from its nap. ''Ho Ho! My favorite color is brilliant gold!'' His sparkles grew as he switched poses while Sato ignored him and tried to help Koda recover from his scare.
''Where did you even come from?'' The rest of the students thought with a sweatdrop.
From the dining area with Sero, Shoji spoke. ''Mine's Amethyst.'' Mina and some others expressed their awe at the color choice. ''My mother would often read about minerals or gems in her spare time.'' He lightly shrugged. ''One time I got curious so I would join her, which led me to find details about the Amethyst.'' Everyone, even Bakugou who would never admit it out loud, found his explanation fascinating.
Sero chuckled sheepishly as he realized his color choice wasn't as interesting now. ''Heh, guess I'm the odd one huh?'' His statement got confused looks from his classmates. ''Mine's beige.'' Everyone nodded in understanding with Momo and some saying that there was nothing wrong with his choice.
''Told you this was a good idea!'' Mina happily chirped gaining their attention. ''We're just learning about our favorite colors and I already feel closer to you guys!'' Her sentiments made them realize she was right, it was only a small thing but somehow, it brought them closer.
''What's going on here?''
Turning to the voice, they saw Ida, Ochako, Kaminari, Mineta, and Tokoyami making their way down the stairs from the boy's section of the dorms. ''We were having a group study in Ida's room when we heard the commotion and decided to check it out.'' The gravity user explained as they grouped up in the common room.
Mina hummed in understanding. ''Oh, well…things were getting boring, so I suggested we share each other's favorite colors to lighten things up a bit.'' She admitted while everyone else voiced their confirmation and began sharing what they learned today.
And though taken aback by the strange form of entertainment, Iida nodded in understanding as he saw nothing that could violate the rules. ''Oh, I see.'' Ochako and everyone else got comfortable as he cleared his throat. ''Well in that case….mine is Dark Blue, my family's favorite.''
Toru was stunned by this. ''Wait….all of your family members like the same color?'' Like everyone else, she found this hard to believe while off to the side, Ochako snickered to herself as she imagined all of them living in a dark blue house.
Ida expected their reactions and continued. ''My family is built on discipline.'' He held his head high as he said this. ''So it wouldn't be surprising for all of us to have a uniformed sense of taste as well!'' He robotically pointed to the ceiling as he said this with no shame and pride.
Meanwhile, everyone else mentally had some disagreements to this logic as it sounded a bit dull but chose to keep their opinions to themselves, lest they end up hurting his feelings. Even Bakugou held back, as he saw Kirishima's pleading look in the corner of his vision, causing him to grumble to himself as he leaned back onto his seat with his arms crossed while the hardening teen beamed.
After a few more seconds of awkwardness, Ochako cleared her throat to break the ice. ''I love the color Aqua!'' Her happy claim gained everyone's attention. ''It reminds me of the lovely sea by the beach.'' She had a serene smile as she remembered her family trip to the beach while everyone else now wondered if they could have a trip to the beach too.
Some wanted to use the chance to strengthen their bonds or to simply relax while others like Mineta and Kaminari have their own…..reasons for going to the beach as they subtly gave each other knowing looks as they lightly nodded to each other before Mineta turned away to wipe off some drool.
After mentally making a reminder to ask Aizawa about a class trip to the beach, Mina turned to Kaminari. ''How about you Kaminari?''
The electric user smiled wide as he pointed a thumb to himself. ''Yellow of course!'' He laughed a bit as he raised his left hand before letting out tiny sparks. ''Ever since my quirk developed, it's been my favorite color!'' Now that he pointed it out, they have noticed that apart from his hero costume, most of his personal belongings have a dash of yellow or electric yellow to them which made total sense now.
As Ida began scolding Kaminari for irresponsible quirk use, the latter sheepishly apologizing, Toru looked to Mineta and almost didn't want to ask but for the sake of the fun in the activity, she went for it. ''Hey Mineta?'' The grape-themed hero hummed as he turned to her. ''What about your favorite color?''
Upon hearing the question, everyone, Including Ida who stopped scolding the already embarrassed Kaminari, turned to the short teen who hummed a bit before answering. ''Mine's Azure.'' He simply answered.
Everyone just stared at him. ''…''
He stared back. ''…''
They blinked at him. ''…''
He blinked back. ''…''
This went on for a few more seconds before Mineta had enough. ''W-What?'' He finally asked, admittedly a bit creeped out from the silent staring.
''That's it?'' Mina tilted her head in confusion while everyone else just looked at him in surprise.
Mineta narrowed his eyes. ''What do you mean…that's it?'' His tone was slightly annoyed as he surmised that they must have been looking for something grander with his answer. ''Is there something wrong with me liking that color?''
Blinking back o reality, Mina decided to answer. ''Well….'' Everyone turned to her. ''Not really.'' She rubbed the back of her head with a sheepish look. ''It's just that knowing you, we were just expecting something more…'' She rubbed her chin with a hum, trying to find the right words.
''Perverted.'' Momo interjected with a scrunched-up nose.
''Scummy.'' Bakugou gruffly said with his arms crossed.
''Immoral.'' Ida sternly added.
''Depraved.'' Tokoyami grimly added from his spot.
''Degenerate.'' Todoroki blandly added as he flipped another page.
Mina snapped her fingers as she pointed to her classmates. ''Yep! Something like those!'' She chirped with a cheeky grin while they murmured amongst themselves in agreement.
With each word, the short teen's expression grew more offended until a massive tic mark formed on his head. ''What's with that!?'' He pointed at them with a scandalized look. ''Do you guys believe that everything has to be perverted with me?''
They just gave him a look that answered his question, causing him to take a step back in disbelief. ''N-No way…'' He deflated a bit. ''Am I really that bad?'' Kaminari chose to keep his mouth shut, knowing that he wasn't any better, leaving Mineta to contemplate things.
Deciding to save the mood, Toru decided to switch the topic. ''Hey, that reminds me.'' She suddenly added, causing everyone, including Mineta, to turn to her. ''Has anyone seen Jiro and Tsuyu?''
Kaminari nervously chuckled, gaining confused looks from them. ''Jiro's in her room playing her instruments.'' He rubbed a sore spot on his ribs. ''Trust me, she's not in the mood to be disturbed.'' After concluding what happened, some students winced at his injury and wisely chose to not disturb the punk rock teen.
''And as for Asui.'' Tokoyami interjected, grabbing heir attention. ''She's currently having a web chat with her parents.'' They stared at him in suspicion, wondering how he knew that. ''We were exchanging notes when she mentioned contacting them.'' He internally sighed when they bought his reasoning while within him, Dark Shadow was cackling knowingly, much to his chagrin.
Mina pouted at this. ''Poo.'' She shrugged before pointing at the shadow user. ''Oh well, what's your favorite color Tokoyami?''
Tokoyami honestly didn't see the point in this activity but given that everyone was giving him an expectant look, he mentally shrugged, guess there's no harm in it. ''Obsidian.'' He admitted with his arms crossed.
"So obvious!'' They thought with a sweatdrop while Tokoyami had an idea what they were thinking and huffed as he looked to the side with a slightly embarrassed look.
After recovering from the moment, Ochako spoke with a look of realization. ''I guess that just leaves Deku.''
Realizing her point, Sato decided to ask the main question. ''Now that you mention it, where is Midoriya?'' When they thought about it, they hadn't seen or heard from him today. Off to the side, all were oblivious to how Mina perked up at this.
To this, Ida spoke. ''I have the answer!'' He proudly shouted with a hand raised, causing some to wince from the volume. ''Like the honorary student that he is, he's up in his room reviewing his noted for the week!'' He pushed up his glasses with a shine while Ochako nodded in confirmation, somewhat used to his antics.
While most weren't surprised by this, knowing about the OFA user's tendency to archive and analyze his findings, Mina was aghast. ''Studying!?'' She repeated incredulously. ''Seriously we've been buried up to our necks in notes for weeks and you're telling me that he still plans to study?'' She emphasized her disbelief by waving her arms.
Ochako just shrugged. ''That's what he's been doing.'' It was one of the many things that she and many others respected about the green-haired teen. And being one of his closest friends, she honestly saw nothing wrong about it.
Now Mina also had the same amount of respect for Midoriya's studying habits, probably more than others in her opinion, but even she knew that this was too much. ''Well that's just baloney!'' She retorted, startling a few of them from her outburst. ''It's about to be the weekend darn it! And I say it's time for a break!'' She turned her back to them as she marched towards the stairs. ''Even if it means telling him that myself!''
''Mina wait!'' Toru called out only to sigh when Mina didn't stop and merely continued her way up. ''And she's gone.'' She crossed her arms with an invisible pout. ''At least tell us your favorite color before you go.'' She mumbled while those who heard gave her a weird look due to her priorities.
Beside her, Ojiro raised an eyebrow. ''Is it really that important? I mean you could just ask her later.'' He pointed out in amusement.
''True.'' Toru conceded before leaning against him with a whine. ''But I want to know now.'' Ojiro chuckled as he wrapped his arm around her to keep her from falling while she giggled in his hold.
The sight was adorable, but Momo had other things to focus on. ''Am I the only one here concerned that Mina is going inside a boy's room?'' She directed her gaze to Ida who was oddly calm, despite the blatant disregard for the rules. ''Shouldn't you have stopped her by now?'' She pointed out while everyone else realized her point and looked to their orderly representative.
But to their surprise, Ida shook his head. ''Normally I would, but this is Midoriya.'' He countered, confusing them. ''As a close friend of his, I do not doubt that he would follow the rules and be responsible with his choices.'' He proudly stated while his classmates turned to each other and had to agree with him there.
Besides being socially awkward at times, especially when it came to girls, they knew that Midoriya would always follow the rules. Making the possibility of him doing something out of character, to be extremely low.
Off to the side, Mineta was about to call bullshit, believing that hormonal teenagers can't resist their urges when they're alone in a room. But ultimately decided to hold his tongue, realizing that it was these thoughts that made their opinion of him so low. So, with a heavy sigh, he reluctantly let it go and looked away from them as he contemplated his life choices.
While this happened, Bakugou scoffed from his seat. ''As if that nerd has the balls to do anything.'' His comment received mixed expressions and a disgusted one from Momo, regarding the balls comment. ''And who gives a shit about knowing each other's fucking colors anyway!'' He barked while they just gave him an unimpressed look.
Beside him, Kirishima didn't flinch and grinned knowingly. ''Then why did you share your favorite color bro?''
''That doesn't mean anything.'' The explosive teen dismissed as he crossed his arms and looked away from him.
Kirishima's grin widened. ''So you don't care about my favorite color?'' He raised a teasing eyebrow.
Bakugou growled. ''I didn't say that.'' He snapped a glare at everyone else who stared at their interaction in amusement. ''WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU EXTRAS LOOKING AT!?'' He snapped a slightly embarrassed expression at a laughing Kirishima which caused some of his classmates to laugh at the silliness of it all, much to his embarrassment.
''Cease this unnecessary yelling Bakugou!'' Ida shouted with authority as he pointed at Bakugou, which caused the two of them to go into an argument while everyone else around them just laughed at the chaos.
With a tired sigh, Momo was about to intervene but a grip on her hand stopped her, looking back Todoroki merely shook his head as he continued reading. She bit her lip and weighed her options, on one hand, things could go out of hand if she didn't step in while on the other, she could just sit back and hope for the best, which sounded like a bad idea.
…
…
…
…then again, with how hectic things have been, it is rather rare to find free time to simply be with her boyfriend.
And with that thought, Momo hummed before nodding in agreement before leaning against him. Sighing in contentment when he wrapped an arm around her to keep her close while he continued to read with a smile. The couple then enjoyed their shared warmth as their classmates went into their usual shenanigans.
U.A. DORMS-IZUKU MIDORIYA'S ROOM
Clad in his casual attire, sitting on a chair in front of his study area, Izuku groaned as he set his phone aside. ''Why is this so hard?'' He pinched the bridge as he stood up and walked to his bed before flopping on it with a sigh. ''So many sources and yet none of them seem like a good idea.'' He stared at the ceiling with furrowed brows as he tried to get his thoughts emotions in order.
Currently, the young OFA user is struggling with a personal issue that could rival the toughest of villain encounters he's had so far. And that is his feelings for the class fluffy alien, Mina Ashido.
Now you may be wondering: ''How did this happen?''
Well, it all started when they first met, as cliché as it is. He chuckled a bit as he remembered how embarrassed he was when she energetically introduced herself to him. How he was automatically drawn to her eyes before immediately looking away with a stutter.
It appeared to be a small thing to anyone, but to him, it was something that caused him to spark an interest in her. There was just something about her that drew his attention, which often lead to him giving her an occasional glance, even during classes from time to time. Something that would make him listen to her as she shared stories with her group of friends or smile whenever she radiated positivity in general.
He was admittedly confused at first as to why he was like this, but after some time, he had realized that he liked her. It was an overwhelming discovery at first and feared that it was infatuation at first. So, he did what he could to reflect on everything and observe how he truly felt, the last thing he needed was to be influenced by delusion.
So, time went on again and he continued his self-observation. Studying sources that were related to the topic until he concluded that he was indeed harboring feelings for his classmate. It was both a relieving and frightening revelation considering he has zero experience when it came to romance. But he braved it out and managed to have a few more conversations with her, despite it being mostly one-sided at first.
Going forward his feeling for her was further proven during the day of U.A.'s School Festival. When the students were tasked with providing entertainment for the public and most importantly, for Eri to smile.
Seeing Mina enthusiastically perform dance moves with ease and grace was simply hypnotic to him. In fact, it was her enthusiasm that encouraged him to do better in their dance practice, which led to him performing better moves and gain praises from his classmates. Mina, Eri, and Inko chief among them.
That time was the longest he had to be close to her and it was that time that allowed his feelings to grow to the point he would rather just get it out in the open and see what happens. However, the real issue is the method of doing so.
Of course, he considered asking for advice regarding his dilemma. But who could he turn to?
His mentor, Toshinori has a great deal of experience when it comes to combat or overall hero experience. But when it came to relationships the retired Symbol of Peace had none of it, which would predictably lead to an awkward talk.
His mother indeed has experience with this, but he honestly felt embarrassed to discuss it with her. Plus, there's also the fact that the conversation would most likely cause an unending flow of tears and embarrassment.
His friends were also considered for the topic, unfortunately, he had already predicted how the interactions would go. Ida would offer his support but urge him to direct his focus on his studies and the rules set for relationships. Ochako would be ecstatic, but knowing that she had no experience either, he wouldn't get enough info from the conversation. And while Todoroki is indeed currently in a relationship, his advice might not be so effective considering that Mina is a special type of girl in general.
Which left him to face this alone, leading to another problem.
''How do I tell her?'' He sighed as he closed his eyes in thought.
Now contrary to popular belief, he isn't completely inept to social cues and emotions. He's very aware of what his feelings had developed into and knows that it would only lead to pain if he kept it to himself for too long.
Just by thought of Mina falling for another caused a pit in his stomach to form but he shook it off and focused on what he had gathered from his research, which revealed that there is a myriad of ways to show your feelings but as mentioned, with zero experience, you can imagine how hard it was to go through with it. And to top it all off, there was also that fear of what would happen if he did go through with it.
So, with all these possible scenarios going through his head, how was he to go through with it? How in the world is a socially awkward, introverted, and a plain guy like him, supposed to confess to a socially perceptive, extroverted, and overall beauty like her-
*Knock* *Knock* *Knock*
Opening his eyes with a jolt, he sat up and looked to the door in bewilderment. ''Huh? Who could that be?'' He quickly left his bed as the knocking continued. ''Must be Ochako needing help with her notes.'' He opened the door.
Only for his heart to skip a beat. ''M-Mina?'' He stammered as she stared at him with a cute frown. ''W-What brings you here?'' He absentmindedly straightened out his shirt.
Mina raised an unimpressed eyebrow. ''Oh, nothing.'' She crossed her arms. ''It's just that a little bird told me that somebody's been studying again when we're supposed to be on break.'' Her pointed look and tone weren't lost to him as he prepared to explain himself.
Only to be cut off when she raised a hand. ''I'll believe it when I see it.''
Izuku blushed at the implications and was about to beg her not to but her expression remained adamant. Leaving him to sigh in resignation and reluctantly nod as he gestured her to enter.
Mina wasted no time and strolled in while he closed the door with a mental sigh.
Turning around he felt his heart hammer and insecurities creep up as she looked around the room, looking for evidence of some kind. And after a few more glances, she slumped before sheepishly turning to him. ''Hehe, guess uhhh, you were telling the truth huh?'' She rubbed the back of her head.
And despite himself, Izuku couldn't stop himself from laughing along with her. ''Correction, I tried to tell you the truth earlier.'' Her blush deepened. ''But you were partially right, I was researching something but it wasn't anything school-related.'' He admitted before looking away with a blush, thankful that he closed his phone before she arrived.
Mina nodded with an affirmative hum before weakly shrugging, her color returning to normal. ''Well, at least I was a little bit right.'' She gripped her wrist and looked away with a guilty face. ''I'm sorry for barging into your room like that.'' She sighed as she looked back at him, her expression unchanged. ''I just got worried since you don't really have an….'OFF' switch when it comes to studying you know?'' She looked to her feet. ''I didn't want you to overwork yourself.'' A light blush formed on her cheeks as she admitted this.
Izuku felt touched by this and smiled warmly at her. ''It's all right Mina.'' She looked up at him. ''I understand that I can get a little overboard with studying, but I promise I've been making it easier on myself.'' His statement caused her to smile, while he mentally patted himself on the back for cheering her up.
''Besides, I think I've had enough scolding's from Aizawa about resting.'' He added with a laugh as she joined in, remembering how the erasure hero would often scold him for looking sleep-deprived too often.
After settling down, the two didn't say anything more, as they were content with the silence and each other's company. Until eventually, Izuku decided to break the silence by clearing his throat. ''So, what's with the commotion downstairs?'' He cautiously asked, after all, it wouldn't be the first time for his classmates to cause shenanigans that would threaten to give Aizawa a migraine.
Hearing this, Mina remembered the game they were doing and instantly perked up. ''That's right!'' He jolted a bit from her outburst. ''I was bored out of my mind so I decided to spice things up by asking everyone to share their favorite colors!'' She happily explained.
Izuku tilted his head as he curiously stared at her. ''Colors?'' He repeated with a confused tone. ''Not to sound rude, but how does knowing everyone's colors supposed to help with boredom?''
Mina waved a hand. ''Like I told Yaomomo, it's at least better than constant boredom.'' Her answer didn't completely satisfy him, but he could understand where she was coming from. ''And since I'm already up here.'' An excited grin formed on her face as she pointed at him. ''You'll have to tell me your favorite color!'' He was about to say that they should at least do this with everyone else, but it appeared that she had already made up her mind so he held his tongue.
Izuku shrugged, oh well, what's the harm? He was about to answer until he stopped himself as realization dawned on him. ''Wait.'' He uncrossed his arms and put a hand on his chin as he looked down in thought.
This could be the opportunity he'd been waiting for.
As the silence continued, Mina's stance eventually faltered until she pouted with her arms crossed. ''Geez Midori, I get there aren't any lessons or quirks involved. But it wouldn't hurt to-''
''Pink.''
After recovering from her surprise, she looked up to him in shock as he looked away. ''Pink?'' She tilted her head in curiosity. ''Your favorite color is pink?'' She honestly expected something in the green variety or something with an All Might color theme, considering that his hero costume and moves have those.
Izuku looked away as he rubbed the back of his head with a red face. ''Y-Yeah, it's been my favorite color for quite some time now.'' He chuckled weakly before meeting her gaze again.
Now being highly observant when it came to social interaction, Mina narrowed her eyes at this, something didn't feel right. While it wasn't uncommon and not wrong for men to like that color. There was something in his tone that caught her attention as it sounded….warm.
Almost as if there was another meaning to his words.
So, with this in mind, she crossed her arms and stared at him with a look of intrigue. ''I see.'' Her eyes were focused now as she observed him. ''Care to tell me why you like that color?'' Her tone was curious and patient, not wanting to scare him off.
''Well here goes nothing.'' Izuku took a deep breath before sighing as he closed his eyes, not brave enough to see how she would react. ''Pink is…'' He hesitated as a blush formed on his face. ''It's…'' He groaned before steeling himself. ''Pink is nice, sweet, and c-cute.'' He cleared his throat. ''Pink is kind, fun and selfless.'' He subconsciously loosened up. ''She's always looking out for everyone and knows when something's wrong.'' His embarrassment gradually faded as more words came to him. ''When things are down, she brightens the room with her vibrant personality and overall warmth. Even the saddest person can't help but lighten up in her presence.'' He chuckled fondly as he shook his head, remembering the time she consoled him after the loss of Nighteye. ''Supportive, optimistic and we're not even at the physical traits that attract me to her.''
He breathed, it was now or never. ''Her hair looks so soft that I can't help but want to feel them.'' His smile widened as he envisioned it. ''The horns just add to the charm.'' He added. ''Her eyes are so hypnotic that I often find myself lost in them. With how bright they shine; I can't help but compare them to the stars in the night sky.'' His remained heavy and his heart hammered, but it was now time to end it. ''And to add to her brightness, the smile she has is just as bright. And combine everything with an angelic voice and laugh.'' He shrugged lightly. ''And I'm hooked for sure.''
''And if that isn't enough, she just happens to be my favorite color.'' He finished before rubbing the back of his neck with a sheepish expression as his earlier embarrassment returned. ''L-Like I said, there's more to say, but I don't think I'd be able to stop myself at that point.'' He awkwardly chuckled as he slowly opened his eyes. ''So what do you-'' He and his heart froze as he was met with a shocking sight.
Mina had his back to him.
A large pit had begun to form in his stomach as fear gripped his heart at the implications. ''C-Crap.'' He quietly gulped as dread entered his mind. ''I've said too much.'' He looked at his feet in guilt. ''She probably thinks I'm a creep now.'' He closed his eyes, desperately thinking of a way to salvage the situation.
But unbeknownst to him, the situation was quite the opposite. From her spot, Mina had her hands on her now purple face as she failed to suppress a wobbly smile out of joy and embarrassment as her suspicions were confirmed.
He's confessing!
And knowing that these words came from him of all people, means that he meant every single one which only served to increase her blush, embarrassment, and joy.
To her shame the first she had met him, she didn't see anything special about him. Now don't get her wrong, he was cute, but was simply too plain for her to pay attention to him at the time. So she simply left him to his devices and went on her way.
But that all changed when he showed everyone what he was made of.
Aside from his monster of a quirk (something that never fails to baffle all of them), he's also showed that he has great observation skills and excels at planning, even in tight situations. But apart from those, Mina and everyone else came to discover that what makes him strong was not just his brains nor his brawn, but his heroic will.
From then on, Mina vowed to never make the same mistake again and made an honest effort to try and get to know Izuku better. Which was a huge relief when he started talking to her more, although it was awkward the first few times. And since then their friendship had been steadily growing, to the point where their friend groups merged and would hang out from time to time. Naturally, Bakugou would make a fuss about this, but eventually, he simmered down with Kirishima's help.
But we're getting off-topic here, amongst the fun and quirk ideas or strategies being exchanged, Mina found herself being drawn to the hero fanboy. It was a small thing at first, but as she too noticed her growing attachment as time went on.
Now being socially aware and a huge fan of the romance or drama genre, it didn't take long for her to realize what these feelings were growing into. So, with this, she opted to just sit back and see how real these feelings are.
This turned out to be the right move on her part as she began noticing other things that happen whenever she talked with him. Such as her being uncharacteristically shy or nervous when around him, but thankfully, Izuku's nervousness helped hide it.
How cute she thought he looked when he went full ''nerd mode'' and mumble when he analyzed things. How strong and to put it bluntly, hot she found him when he went ''hero mode'' whenever it was time to train or save someone.
It honestly didn't take her long to conclude that she had developed a full-blown crush on the green hero, a fact that was solidified whenever she was happy to be with him when he was happy or heartbroken when he was hurt or saddened.
A particularly dark moment for her was seeing how distraught Izuku was when Nighteye had died from their raid on the Yakuza (an operation she's frustrated about not being a part of to this day). Her heart ached at how broken he looked, he acted normal but Mina could easily through the façade.
It made her sick just watching him like that.
Having enough, she had asked him to come to meet her somewhere private after class. Predictably he was an embarrassed mess at the request, but after seeing how serious she was, he agreed. Once alone, she surprised him with a hug, but to her internal surprise, he didn't struggle and just stood there in confusion.
Taking the chance, she admitted her intentions and after a while of silence, he reciprocated the embrace and cried onto her shoulder. It honestly hurt thinking of how long and how much he'd been holding in all this time. But she shouldered on, letting him cry in her arms as she soothed and healed his pain.
Once he calmed down, Izuku thanked and apologized, which Mina waved off. Saying that she would be there for him anytime he needed someone to talk to. She could swear that he gave her a look that she couldn't recognize at that moment, but as quickly as it came, it was gone and he was back to his cheerful self again before they both went on to their usual routines.
It was also the moment she had come to realize, that her feelings for him had grown into something more.
Said feeling intensified when during the School Festival, she and everyone else would have understood if Izuku didn't participate considering what he's been through. So, imagine their surprise when he immediately took the opportunity to join them. Of course, it was later found out that the reason he wanted to join, was to make Eri smile.
Typical Izuku, always being the hero, one of the many reasons that made her fall for him. Watching him work hard and Eri smiling only solidified the fact. Which brought her to the dilemma of how to admit her feelings for him.
Naturally, she feared being rejected, but given her personality, she didn't believe in beating around the bush and preferred to just get it out there and see what happens. The question was how? She could do this herself but considering Izuku's reputation for being awkward with conversations with the opposite sex, she figured he might not be ready to admit anything.
Until now.
Back with Izuku, he took a shaky breath and decided that the silence had gone long enough. ''Mina I….'' He swallowed as he stared at her form. ''I…'' He clamped his eyes shut and looked away. ''I-I'm sorry I said too much.'' He willed himself not to tear up. ''If you don't want me to talk to you anymore I-
''I-I d-didn't mind.''
Snapping his head up in surprise, Izuku saw Mina looking at him with a heavy blush an expression that was both embarrassed and happy. ''Y-You...'' He found himself struggling to believe it. ''Y-You didn't…mind?'' He wanted to make sure he heard right.
Despite her mouth being dry, Mina meekly nodded. ''Yeah, I didn't.'' His eyes widened further as she looked away and rubbed her arm. ''It made me happy.'' Her admission caused his mind to freeze while she bit her lip, her cheeks hot. Since he's being honest, she might as well be honest too. ''A-And since we're at it, I was planning on asking you out.'' Midoriya's bluescreened mind increased as she gazed back up to him in an uncharacteristically nervous manner. ''I-If it's ok with you.''
As his heart skipped a beat, Izuku's mind rebooted as he nodded his head. ''Y-Yeah.'' A warm smile grew on his face as he felt all tension leave his body. ''I'd love to.''
Hearing his acceptance, Mina felt the same effect as she practically beamed with joy. ''AWESOME!'' He hopped on the spot before realizing her mistake and recomposed herself as she cleared her throat with a light blush from her outburst. ''I-I mean, cool.'' Her blush deepened when he chuckled fondly at her antics before her colors returned to normal as she joined in the laughter.
As they calmed down, both looked to each other with warm smiles before Mina took a step forward and grabbed his hand, the action causing their hearts to beat faster. ''Come on, we can plan for our date after we finish the game downstairs.'' They gazed into each other's eyes as they automatically intertwined their fingers.
Once again, he found himself lost in her eyes before raising a knowing eyebrow at the hint of mischief in them. ''You just want to freak them out with this.'' He stated knowingly as he raised their joined hands with a smirk.
Mina giggled at being caught. ''You know it.'' She admitted with a cheeky wink while he rolled his eyes with a smile. ''You in?'' She gave him a sly grin.
''Do you even need to ask?'' Izuku's immediate response caused Mina to beam at him before pulling him away with a skip in her step while he chuckled as he allowed himself to be led out of the room with a content smile.
U.A. DORMS-BOY'S SIDE HALLWAY
After closing the door to his room, the duo walked hand in hand with the sound of Mina's happy humming filling the silence. Izuku stayed silent, simply enjoying her company. And to think, he spent all that time worrying about all the negatives when all he had to do was man up and say something. Toshinori and Gran Torino did always say that some things didn't need a lot of thinking.
He was pulled out of his musing when he lightly bumped into Mina who had abruptly stopped walking and humming. Causing him to look at her in surprise before concern formed on his features. ''I-Is something wrong?''
With a gentle smile, Mina shook her head. ''It's nothing.'' She gave him a warm look over her shoulder. ''I just forgot to tell you something is all.''
Having an idea of what she's going to talk about, Izuku looked away in guilt as she turned to him. ''O-Oh, I see.'' She tilted her curiously at his tone as he looked back at her, his expression unchanged. ''Did I say too much during my confession?'' Despite what she said earlier, there was still that nagging voice in his head, saying that he was being creepy.
Now understanding why he's worried, Mina couldn't help but giggle. ''No silly.'' She smiled as he released a breath. ''Like I said, it made me happy hearing those words from you.'' She took a step closer to him. ''It was romantic.'' Another step. ''Sweet.'' Another. ''Passionate.'' She blushed as she stood in front of him now, staring at his chest with a smile. ''Honest and Adorkable.'' She looked up at him with half-lidded eyes. ''It was a very Izuku Midoriya type of confession.''
Despite the massive blush and rapid heartbeats from her words and proximity, Izuku felt relieved but didn't move away from her. ''Oh.'' He blinked as it was now his turn to be confused. ''Then what's-''
He was cut off when Mina shortened their distance and wrapped her arms around his neck, pushing her lips against his. His eyes widened as he muffled in surprise, but as soon as he registered that Mina had her eyes closed in bliss, he too closed his eyes and relished the moment as he snaked his arms around her waist and pulled her closer to him.
Mina trembled a bit from the gesture but welcomed it as she used one hand to play with his hair while her other arm remained hooked to his neck. While Izuku did the same and rubbed the back of her head while his other arm remained on her waist. Both lost to the moment as they indulged their pent-up feelings.
Eventually though, the need for air caught up to them as they ended the kiss, but remained in each other's arms. Both blushed as they held their gazes and felt a mix of amazement and joy. ''That was…'' Mina breathed as she struggled to find the right word through the haze. ''Wow…''
''Yeah.'' Izuku dumbly nodded with a breath as his mind cleared. ''Wow.'' He cleared his throat before smiling as she giggled sweetly at him ''So uhhh, what did you want to tell me?'' He gave her a curious look.
Hearing the question, Mina gave him one of her many beautiful smiles as a bit of magenta colored her cheeks. ''That my favorite color is green.''
Izuku felt his heart soar as he smiled warmly with a small blush and leaned his forehead against hers. ''I'm glad.'' He closed his eyes in contentment while Mina giggled and increased her hold on him, her blush remaining. ''Are you planning on telling me why?'' He added as they leaned back.
Mina put a finger to her chin and pretended to think about it. ''Hmmm, I don't know.'' She hummed with a mischievous expression.
''Mina…'' Izuku playfully warned.
At this Mina laughed. ''I'm kidding geez!'' He chuckled as he fondly shook his head. ''I'll tell you tomorrow.'' She promised before giving him a quick peck on the lips, both smiling afterward.
''I'll be looking forward to it.'' Izuku happily replied as they hooked arms and joined hands again. ''Come on, let's go freak them out.'' She giggled mischievously with him joining as he allowed himself to be led away again. It seems that even when they aren't officially dating yet, she's already rubbing off on him.
Not that it's a bad thing of course.
And with that, the two continued their route, both thinking of the possibilities that the future holds for them. And as they walked together, only one thought ran through their minds.
They love their colors.
Author's Note:
1. Welp, there we go, sorry it's been a while but work and life in general has been keeping me away. So, don't expect any massive stories or quick posts.
2. This one was admittedly hard to write since I'm not so good with expressing emotions and fluffy stuff (even though I like to read them) so sorry if it ended up being cringy or unsatisfying to anyone. It's the best I can do and I sincerely hope that it didn't cause any negativity.
3. Not gonna lie, I struggled with the ending lines, so if any of you hate it I'll try to think of a way to improve it somehow. XD
4. And one last thing, if there's any errors spotted by you or me, I'll be sure to fix it when I can. So, until then, stay safe and hang in there!
