Okay so here is a new story that I've been working on...
I was inspired by the story Unexpected Written by Nomeh...
But again this is my version of it...
I hope this story works out well...
I'll be uploading a few more chapters through out the week hopefully as long as nothing comes up making it so I can't...
But Anyway!
I Do NOT Own Fairy Tail Or It's Characters!
On With The Show!
Lucy's POV
I know what I did was stupid. But I felt that I really didn't have a choice in the matter. It was the only way to keep this a secret. It's been about 14 months since I left my home. I regretted the choice everyday but I still couldn't face him. I fight with myself everyday because I want to return home so we're not in danger anymore. But I can't. I miss my family in the worst way but none of that matters. The only thing that mattered was them.
I looked over towards the small living room. I couldn't stop the smile that graced my face. It wasn't their fault, it was mine. Or maybe I should blame this whole thing on Cana. It would be easier then taking the blame myself. But it was my own fault for even agreeing to that damn contest. Everyone knows that Cana had it in the bag. I mean it's Cana. Her veins are filled with alcohol not blood so of course she would win. And of course I wouldn't remember a damn thing from that night. Well, apart from waking up naked in someone else's bed. And not just any someone else.
It just had to be His bed.
I couldn't help pacing back and forth through the living room. They were sleeping so I was restless. They kept my mind off everything. But they remind me of him every time I look at them. I stopped pacing to look out the big bay window to look out over the forest that I lived in the middle of. I was no where near Magnolia to be safe from those damn dragon slayers. They were worst then blood hounds. I was lucky that I made it this far without being found by them but of course traveling through the Celestial world could have helped with that. It's against the rules to do that but Stash face was cool with it and left it alone. From what Loke said he turned a blind eye to the action.
Once I was far enough away from Magnolia I settled in here. A small little abandoned cottage. It literally had 5 rooms in the entire thing. My kitchen was super small but it served it's purpose. My living room was also supposed to be my dining room which for them I just left it as a living room so they had plenty of room to play and crawl around. It also had 1 bathroom and 2 small bedrooms. It wasn't much but for now it was home. Well, until I was either attacked or I decide to return to Fairy Tail. I know I'd be welcomed with opened arms and so would they. But would he accept them? That was the question that made me not want to go back. I didn't want to know. If he would reject them I'd be more heart broken then I am now.
I smiled as I watched them sleep for a few minutes as I remembered that day 15 months ago.
~~Flashback 15 Months Ago – Early Morning~~
I began to wake with the worst headache I've ever had in my entire life. But I could feel something wasn't right. I remember drinking with Cana, Lisanna, Levy, Gajeel, Bickslow, Elfman, and Laxus. Everyone else in the guild was gathered around all of us cheering as we all tried to beat Cana in a damn drinking contest. I know foolish and stupid for any of us to think we had a chance against her. But we figured what's the worst that could happen right?
Well yeah never doing that again. I went to move but I couldn't. It was like I was being held down by something heavy.
'Probably Natsu...' I thought as I lifted my head slightly but regretted it when my head started pounding. I let my head fall back to the pillow with a quiet groan. I squinted my eyes due to the brightness of the damn sun that came through the black curtains.
'Wait! Black curtains? I don't own black curtains...' I thought internally as my eyes widened slightly, my headache now long forgotten.
I turned slightly to see a large muscular arm draped over my waist. I raised an eyebrow as I followed the trail of the arm with my eyes to an equally muscular chest with a very familiar black tribal tattoo. I felt my stomach drop. I felt like the air was knocked out of me I could barely breathe. I should have stopped there and just high tailed it out of there but my mind wanted to know for sure. So I continued to follow with my eyes to the face of the one and only lightning dragon slayer, Laxus Dreyar.
I swear I could have died right then. How and why was I in bed with Laxus of all people! Seriously karma, fate, destiny! Anyone of you have a sick sense of humor!
I managed to wiggle out of his hold. Looking around the room I found my poorly discarded clothes. I groaned internally as I got up to collect the pieces. Which I found that my panties were ripped to pieces. I wanted to yell and scream but I had to get out of there quick. I dressed quickly and quietly and ran out of the house. I was sore in places that I never knew could get sore. Even after all the missions that I've taken with Team Natsu I've never been this sore. Not even when Gajeel was with Phantom and beat the crap out of me, I was never this sore.
When I got home of course Natsu and Happy were there in my bed sleeping. I gulped knowing I had to shower quickly otherwise the fire dragon slayer would probably go on a rampage and try to hunt Laxus down to try and kill him. How did my life get so screwed up?
'Cana...' I thought to myself. She was the one to blame for this. I going to strangle that girl next time I see her.
I quickly ran into the bathroom after gathering my clothes, turning on the shower and stripping down to get into the nice hot shower. It burned granted but it felt good and eased the soreness. It was when I decided to scrub myself down to get rid of the lightning slayers scent that I realized the clumpy, crusty residue on my inner thighs. I groaned internally again this was going to be annoying. At least nothing else could go wrong right?
~~End Flashback – Present Time~~
I still don't know what to do, if I should return or stay on the run. I know they aren't going to give up till they get their dirty hands on them. I know the master would protect us with his entire being considering who is after us. So would the rest of guild, but would he?
I let out a heavy sigh and looked out the window again. I couldn't sense them anywhere. Maybe it was safe now to call them. Thinking of them made me think of Loke. God that damn lion is going to kill me for not summoning any of them this entire time. Considering who is after us I couldn't risk it and I hope he would understand. But again I don't know, he's probably going to yell at me nonetheless.
It's now or never since the coast is clear for the time being. I walked over to the desk in the corner and pulled open a drawer. I took out a box that was sealed and unsealed it. I took out the brown pouch that held my precious friends. I looked for one key in particular and took it off the key ring.
"Open! Gate Of The Lion! Loke!" I chanted quietly since they were still sleeping.
A flash of light appeared after the sound of a doorbell and disappeared not soon after leaving behind my ginger haired friend, Loke, also known as Leo The Lion, the leader of the Zodiac.
"It's about damn time!" Loke began but I cut him off with a hug. He sighed and wrapped his arms around me to hug me back. I couldn't stop the sob that escaped. "It's alright Princess... I'm here now..." Loke said in a slight teasing tone.
I let out a watery giggle. "I'm sorry... I've just had a lot going on... And I don't have much time..." I said giving him one more squeeze before letting go.
Just then a soft cooing noises drew the Lion spirit's attention. His eyes went wide as he turned quickly then turned back to stare at me.
"Princess?" Loke asked. I smiled fondly as I moved around him and walked over to the bassinet.
"Their names are Rai and Willa..." I said as I reached in, I picked up the squirmy bundles and brought them over towards Loke. "They're my pride and joys, aren't they adorable?" I asked.
Looking from the babies to the lion spirit I gave a sad smile. "Willa has her father's eyes and Rai has my eyes..." I explained.
Loke turned his wide eyes down to the little bundles of flailing limbs that batted and tugged on my hair. A little tuft of blonde hair sat upon their little heads. Peachy pink dimpled cheeks framed toothy giggling pink mouths and there in two dazzling blue-gray orbs and 2 doe like brown eyes was the answer to an unspoken question.
"Princess… When did he? How did you? Does he know? Cause I swear if he knows and he told you to take a hike, I swear I'm gonna kick his fucking ass!" Loke fumed.
"Calm down..." I giggled. "It was about 15 months ago, give or take a week... And if you don't know how then I'm going to start questioning your manliness Loke..." I smirked absentmindedly readjusting my hold on the twins and bouncing them in my arms as I strolled towards the kitchen.
"Oh Haha, very funny... Not..." He deadpanned. "I know damn well how it happens, I meant... Ya know... I mean... It's Laxus... How did you manage that?" Loke asked in disbelief.
I snorted. "I wouldn't tell you even if I could remember beyond the just waking up naked next to him part, you perv..." I said.
He was slightly incredulous. "Wait, what? You don't remember?" Loke asked. Sighing quietly as I pulled 2 bottles out of the fridge and stuck them into a bowl of hot water to warm them.
"It was the night of Mira and Freed's Engagement party... I really don't remember anything after about shot number….10…uh.. ish..." I shrugged and took the bottles out of the water to test them before I laid them both down and began to feed them by propping their bottles up with blankets.
"Princess... You have to tell him... You know that right?" Loke asked as he crossed his arms over his chest.
"I know, but I'm not brave enough for that!" I said forcibly. My eyes blazing as I turned to look at him. "You don't know what it was like for me after… The things I heard him say... I don't even think he remembers either... Cause he never even looked at me or anything!" I said standing up to lean against the wall.
"What did he say?" Loke asked in a concerned tone.
All the fight I had just left me then and I whispered weakly. "I was sitting at the guild debating on telling him, because I had just found out earlier that morning after a visit to Porlyusica... I was waiting for him to show up cause while I didn't know what to say, I figured I'd figure it out once he got there... The next thing I know he is walking through the doors with Bickslow and Freed and he's going on and on about how women were so clingy and that no one was going to tie him down and trap him... That how all women have ever wanted him for was his name and fame... I left after that and I haven't looked back since..." My expression became haunted as I stared out at nothing. "I left everyone without a single goodbye... I'm such a terrible person..." I began to sob as I curled in on myself. "And now Rai and Willa will have to pay for my cowardice..." I said wiping a tear from the corner of my eye.
"No, they won't... You can go back to the guild... Everyone will understand, and you don't have to tell Laxus till you're ready..." I sobered up quickly after Loke said that.
"I can't go back, not yet... I'm not ready for that... But I do need to ask you something, and it's very important to me... I wouldn't ask if it wasn't... You know this..." I began.
Loke nodded slowly, "What is it?" Loke asked in a concerned tone.
"I want to break ours and my contract with Virgo and give your keys to Rai and Willa... I need to know that if something happens to me that they will be protected... I want you and Virgo to be their guardians when I can't be there..." I explained pulling out Virgo's key.
Normal POV
Loke was stunned, he didn't know what to say. He hated the idea of breaking his contract with Lucy, but for her to ask him and Virgo for such a thing, and to bestow such trust in him and Virgo was something that touched him.
"I would be honored Princess... I mean I hate not being your celestial spirit but knowing you have that much faith in me… Well, words can't describe how touched I am..." Loke said with a smile.
Before she could summon Virgo, Virgo appeared on her own with a glare set on Lucy. Lucy blinked while she stared back at the normally stoic spirit.
"Princess... Why would you only call Big Brother for such a request without calling me as well if this was your intention?" Virgo asked with a tilt of her head. "Punishment for interrupting?" Virgo added.
Lucy sweat dropped at the maid, "No punishment Virgo... I was just about to call you actually... But what do you say?" Lucy asked.
Virgo sighed and nodded, "Of course princess the honor of such a request would be a pleasure to uphold..." Virgo said with a bow. Once Virgo returned to standing straight she looked down at the 2 little bundles and a small smile graced her face as she stared adoringly at the 2 little ones.
Lucy giggled, "Thank you Loke, Virgo, I'll hold onto the keys until they're old enough to take care of them themselves... You have no idea what a weight this is that's been taken off my shoulders..." Lucy said as she tried to fight back the tears of joy that threatened to spill from her eyes.
She leaned into the protective spirit and looked down at the twins smiling as she watched their eyes flutter closed while absently still sucking on the bottles. As she leaned over to kiss both of their foreheads, the hem of her shirt rose a little causing something to catch Loke's eye. He frowned slightly and moved closer.
"Princess, what's that?" Loke asked.
"What's what?" Lucy asked.
"On your back... There's a tattoo of some kind there that I haven't seen before..." Loke said curiously.
"I don't know, maybe it's just a bruise... I've been working out and I've fallen a couple times when I misstep..." Lucy said looking back at the lion spirit.
"No, it doesn't look like a bruise... Here let me see..." Loke moved closer and reached a hand out to lift the back of her shirt. Batting his band away she turned and crossed her arms,
"Stop it pervert!" Lucy growled.
"I'm not being a pervert... I'm serious, let me see... It looks kind of familiar..." Loke motioned for her to turn around but she stood firm, stubbornly refusing him. "Seriously Lucy, I think I know what it is... I just want to make sure..." He held up his hands, "Here I won't even touch you, just turn and lift the back of your shirt a little..." Loke said.
She narrowed her eyes a bit more realizing he only ever used her actual name when he was being serious then she sighed and turned doing as he asked.
"Damn, he must not know, or he's ignoring it... You've been marked..." Loke said with wide eyes looking at the black and gold dragon looking tattoo that covered her back. The dragon itself looked like it was made out of lightning. It's scales looked like they were moving when the muscles on her back moved.
"Marked? What the hell does that mean?" She turned quickly lowering her shirt once more.
"It means he's mated to you..." Loke said.
Lucy paled. 'Mated?' Lucy internally panicked. She didn't know much about dragon mating rituals, but she did know one thing for sure. Mates were for life. 'Damn it...' Lucy groaned internally. "Okay, so what does that mean then? And why do you think he doesn't know or he's ignoring it?" Lucy asked.
"As you know dragons are super protective and possessive about what they deem to be theirs... If Laxus knew he was mated to you, then he would probably be searching all of Earthland trying to find you... The fact that you've been gone for so long and he hasn't even come close yet is an indicator of that... Or as I said, he could be ignoring it, but I doubt that's the case... You and I both know how selfish he can be... And that's when he is in control of himself... If he was consciously aware of this… I think he would be going on a rampage by now..." Loke explained.
"He's right princess..." Virgo said as she rocked the twins softly.
"So either, A.) He hasn't found me, or B.) He doesn't know..." Lucy rubbed her temples, "This is getting more complicated by the second..." Lucy grumbled mainly to herself.
Loke sat on the couch and rested his arms on his knees. "Humans are always doing something crazy to complicate their lives..." Loke said in a teasing tone.
"You're one to talk Mister..." Lucy rolled her eyes at him.
"Hey! That's not fair! I was trying to protect Aries! Way to bring up the past Princess..." Loke whined dejectedly, his mood slightly souring.
Her gaze softened, "You're right, I'm sorry... But it does prove that humans aren't the only ones that do things that complicate their lives, whether it's on purpose or not..." Lucy said.
"Yeah yeah..." Loke grumbled. He let out a deep breath then rubbed his face vigorously. "Okay, here's the thing, he's gonna know something is up, whether he is aware of the mating or not, it won't matter for long... Right now you aren't in danger, but you're anxious... And while your bond isn't that strong yet, he'll feel it... So if you don't want him to find out faster than when you're ready, then you need to calm down... But Princess, we got to go back, and you got to tell him... You may not like it, and he may not deserve it, but he does have the right... After that you can go from there... Who knows he might actually surprise you..." Loke said in concerned tone.
Frowning Lucy let her lower lip stick out a little in a pout. "When did you become the responsible one?" Lucy asked.
"When you gave me responsibilities..." Loke said as he turned his head and looked pointedly towards the bassinet. She stuck her tongue out at him and he returned it with a chuckle.
A few moments passed while they both reflected on the past and the earlier conversation. Loke was seriously starting to wonder what the heck he was gonna do. When suddenly he sensed something on the peripheral of his awareness. Moments later Lucy darted towards the bassinet and grabbed the twins from the basket she put Rai in Loke's arms and Willa in Virgo's then reached next to the couch returning with a small duffle bag.
"Loke, you and Virgo got to leave now!" Lucy said in a rush as she was pushing the spirits towards the back door. Rai and Willa were thankfully still sleeping but the frantic movements weren't helping. "Please..." She whispered and his heart nearly broke at her large pleading eyes that were slowly filling with tears. "I need you both to protect them..." Lucy explained.
"Come with us, we can make a run for it, use Gemini to distract them..." Loke suggested heavily.
Lucy shook her head rapidly, "I don't think that will work... The presence is Ivan... I can feel it, and he's not alone... Please Loke! Go to Hargeon, I'll meet you both there in 3 days... If I don't meet you by then... Then assume the worst... Or if you feel like you're being followed go to Fairy Tail... But please whatever you do protect Them!" Lucy said as she placed their celestial keys in their hands and then turned towards the front door moving quickly as she strapped the worn leather belt around her waist and grabbed her whip out of the closet next to the front door.
"Wait! Ivan? Are you sure?" Loke asked and Lucy nodded. "Damn it..." Loke growled. "Virgo we need to go..." Loke said turning to the maid. The maid nodded as she followed Loke to the back door.
Lucy took one last pleading look at them, her eyes darting to the bundles in the 2 spirits arms before she ran out the front door. Lucy stepped out of her front door for all the world to see, like she was a warrior looking to find out who invaded her territory.
"What do you want?" Lucy called out brazenly crossing her arms waiting for whoever to come out of hiding to answer her.
"Well, well I finally found you..." A deep males voice said as a figure came out from the forest line.
"Ivan..." Lucy growled.
"You know why I'm here... Hand over my grand child..." Ivan said as stalked slowly closer to her.
'He thinks there's only 1... This could work to my advantage...' Lucy thought internally as she tried to come up with a plan. "Like hell! And what makes you think that it's your grandchild?" Lucy asked glaring as the rest of what used to be Raven Tail, minus Flare, came out of the forest line.
"I can feel it's magic... It's similar to my good for nothing sons... Speaking of which where is he?" Ivan asked looking around.
"Not here... Neither of them are..." Lucy bluffed. She had to hold them off until she knew Loke and Virgo got the twins away. "Any the only one here that's a good for nothing piece of shit is you!" Lucy spat.
"Then who was here?" Ivan asked ignoring her comment. "You've kept yourself hidden for months and now you use your magic leading me right to you and my grandchild..." Ivan grinned wickedly. "So tell me girl do I have a grandson or a granddaughter?" Ivan asked.
"I'm not telling you shit..." Lucy spat.
"Master... 2 people just ran out the back!" Nullpudding said pointing to the back of the house.
"What are you waiting for? Get them!" Ivan snapped.
"With pleasure Master..." A female voice purred as she dashed towards the back.
"No!" Lucy shouted as she turned around towards the direction the woman ran. "Open! Gate Of The Ram! Aries!" Lucy chanted as the timid pink haired ram appeared in a flash of light. "Wool wall now!" Lucy shouted to the ram.
"I'm Sorry! Wool Wall!" Aries said sending out a wall of wool blocking the mages from following Loke and Virgo.
"Foolish girl!" The woman sneered as she jumped at Lucy only to get wrapped up in a cocoon of wool.
"Thanks Aries I owe you!" Lucy said as the ram nodded before disappearing. Lucy looked back and saw Loke and Virgo were no where to be seen. 'Thank goodness... They escaped...' Lucy thought internally.
"They won't get far..." Ivan said through grit teeth.
"I'll never let you get to them!" Lucy shouted flicking her wrist sending the whip out towards Ivan who just moved to the side avoiding getting struck until Lucy pulled it back. Once she pulled the whip back the end of it cracked Ivan on the side of his face.
"You bitch..." Ivan growled sending tons of his paper dolls at her.
Lucy jumped out of the way only to get hit by stream of sand that sent her flying into a tree. Upon impact the wind was knocked out of Lucy's lungs causing her head to fling back effectively hitting her head against the tree. This caused her vision to blur. She was determined to hold them off and keep them from her children as long as possible. She knew she wouldn't be able to meet up with Loke and Virgo in Hargeon like planned but at least she knew they were safe for the time being.
"Time to end this..." Ivan cackled manically.
With those words Lucy's world went black.
Fairy Tail Guild Hall – Normal POV
Laxus sat at the bar staring at his glass of beer. He didn't feel right. Something felt off. His gut was telling him that something was wrong, but for the life of him he couldn't figure out what the hell it was. He had asked Mira earlier who was out on missions, and if she had heard any reports on things going bad for his comrades, but everything had seemed okay.
After returning from the Grand Magic Games the guild had placed a new policy on checking in every other day or more depending on the class ranking of the mission. They had learned the hard way that a simple quest could turn into something huge in no time flat, or that things didn't always turn out to be what you thought they were. And today all teams had checked in on time with no mishaps. Even Natsu's team. Well, what was left of them.
After Lucy disappeared the team sort of fell apart. They would all get together once in a blue moon, but for the most part they each stuck to themselves. The only time they reunited was when there was a rumor of a Lucy sighting somewhere or if they heard something about a Celestial wizard.
'Lucy…' Laxus thought internally. Just the thought of her made him want to purr. Which he didn't understand at all, no woman has ever made him want to do that.
Laxus didn't know why she left, and at first it didn't really bother him. He dismissed it as she just had stuff to do. She was a grown ass woman who could make her own decisions. But after a month. 2 months. And now a little over a year later. He would never admit it to anyone but he missed her. A lot. The place just didn't feel right without her voice cutting through all the others.
He remembered waking up that morning so long ago. Her smell surrounding him, but when he opened his eyes she was no where to be seen. He knew they had slept together. While he admittedly, didn't really remember it, he could smell it in his house, and on his sheets. He could still taste her on his tongue. The whole thing had baffled him. Not the sleeping with her part. He could see why he would have done it. She was hot and apparently willing. So why the hell not? No, the part that baffled him was the part that she wasn't there when he woke up.
He was fucking Laxus Dreyar. Who the hell in their right mind would leave his bed? He was the one that did the leaving. If the taste of her was anything to go on, he wouldn't have minded another round or 2, but oh well it was her loss for leaving. And so he just dismissed the entire thing and went on about his business like nothing had happened.
A month later Natsu had burst into the guild in a furious panic yelling that Lucy and all her stuff was gone. No note, no goodbye. Nothing. Again he dismissed it, but as time went on and her scent had all but completely faded from his house, he began to feel a pang in his gut, and he started to notice that things around the guild weren't the same.
Natsu and Gray hardly fought, but when they did, it was really bad cause they would start blaming each other for Lucy leaving. Then they would ignore each other. Natsu would try to get Erza and the Ice mage to go on missions with him in areas he had heard rumors of celestial magic being cast. And at first they went with him, but after 6 months even that died down, and things started to become more like how they were before Lucy had come along, except less lively.
"Ugh!" Laxus suddenly grabbed his stomach with one hand and his head with the other.
"Laxus! Are you okay?" Mira asked as she grabbed a cold wash rag.
"I don't know..." Laxus growled through grit teeth. "Something doesn't feel right..." Laxus said as he fought to keep his magic under control.
"Someone get the Master!" Freed yelled next to him as he doubled over once again.
"I'm right here! No need to yell! Whats wrong?" Makarov said as he appeared on top of the bar counter.
The barmaid rushed around the counter and knelt next to Laxus as Freed and Bickslow and helped to lay him down on the floor. She placed the cool washcloth on his head to wipe at the quickly accumulating sweat.
"Is Wendy here?" Markorav called out with authority.
"No she's on a mission with Levy and Gajeel..." Droy said.
"Someone go get Porlyusica then!" Makarov shouted.
"I'll get her Gramps!" Natsu yelled on his way out the guild doors, "Happy!" Natsu yelled as he exited the guild doors.
Happy flew out right behind him. "Aye Sir! Mock speed!" Happy saluted before taking to the sky while holding the back of Natsu's shirt.
Markarov shook his head. "She's going to kill him before they even get back..." Makarov muttered.
Laxus was moved to the infirmary where he was assaulted with a hoards of questions. None of which he knew the answers to and he really wished he did, but he didn't care to at that particular moment. All the voices in the room was making his headache even worse, and to top it off he felt like he needed to be somewhere. Someone needed him and for the life of him he couldn't understand why or who. It was infuriating and fucking annoying if he did say so himself!
"Everybody out, now!" The elderly woman's voice overpowered the noise from the rest of the guild.
"We want to help too Miss Porlyusica!" Lissana spoke up as she helped Mira wring out another sweat soaked washcloth.
"I know, but you are all in my way... Now, out! Or, I can walk back home... And I do mean walk Markarov... If you send that prepubescent brat and his cat to get me again so help me, I'll curse you with a potion that will shrink something down so small that no amount of expansion magic will ever allow you to see it again!" The old healer shouted.
"OUT!" The Master yelled with a pale fearful expression.
Once everyone was gone the elderly woman turned her attention to the laid out wizard. "So how long has this been going on now?" The old healer asked.
"I don't know a few days maybe, but it hasn't been this bad before... I just had a bad feeling, but then a little while ago…." He cut himself off attempting to sit up. "Look, I just had a few drinks tonight on an empty stomach maybe it just didn't agree with me..." But a sharp pain shot through his head and he promptly fell back against the mattress gripping his head as he hissed in pain.
"Mhm... Sure... I bet that was it..." She rolled her eyes. "Youth can be so stubborn... Let me have a look at you..." The old healer said.
Laxus resigned himself to the elder healers inspection. He watched as she closed her eyes and let her hands hover inches over his skin moving back and forth.
"Now turn on your side away from me..." The healer ordered. He did what he was asked with a annoyed grunt and huff of breath. "Don't get an attitude with me boy, I'm trying to help you, despite my dinner being rudely interrupted..." A grunt was the only answer she got. "Hmm..." He heard her say and then felt a poke at his back. He twitched a little but it wasn't until the third poke that he felt something entirely different and a growl escaped him. The next thing he knew the tail of his shirt was being lifted. "Ah, I think I know the problem now... Tell me Laxus... How long have you been mated?" The healer asked with a hint of a smirk.
His mind went blank. "Mated? What The Hell? I am not mated to anyone!" Laxus all but shouted in disbelief.
He heard her snort, "There is a mark on your back that tells me otherwise..." The healer said poking at it again earning her a growl.
"Huh? What mark? I don't have any markings on my back you crazy old woman..." Laxus grumbled trying to swat her hand away.
"Look here young man... I can see a mating mark as clear as day on your back right now, and that tells me you are mated... Your pains and headache tells me that your mate is also in trouble and she is subconsciously calling out to you! So you better figure out who it is because if you don't find her and save her, your pains will only get worse and if you don't save her you could die... So if I were you I would figure out what the hell you are going to do!" The healer snapped.
Laxus was nearly hyperventilating. 'Mated?' Laxus questioned internally. He was fucking mated? He closed his eyes a moment in an effort to calm himself and a vision of blonde hair was splayed across his pillow. His eyes shot open the name on the tip of his tongue when an extremely violent sharp pain shot through his entire body and he fell back as the darkness took over.
With Loke – Normal POV
Loke was exhausted. He was currently trudging through the streets of Magnolia, trying to make his way towards the guild. Rai and Willa had been inconsolable for most of the trip. Only falling asleep once they had worn themselves out from crying. The lion spirit was near his wits end. He only hoped that he would make it to his friends before his legs gave out.
He had blinked back to the spirit world and then come back instantly to use his own energy so he didn't use up the small infants that he was now contracted to per Lucy's request, but after staying up for nearly five days straight with barely any rest would wear just about anyone out. After escaping into a tunnel courtesy of Virgo while Lucy dealt with Ivan and the rest of his guild.
He and Virgo had ran through the woods once they got out of the tunnel to the closest town and caught a train to Hargeon. He and Virgo had stayed at an inn for the allotted three days before giving up on the morning of the fourth, and then caught a train to the next town. Virgo had left him on day 2 due to running low on magic and didn't want to use up what little Willa had. He stayed in the next town a night and resupplied Rai and Willa with diapers and milk, and had tried to rest. But Rai and Willa, who were missing their mother, wouldn't sleep to save their lives.
They had cried for most of the night which left Loke close to pulling his hair out. But they were Lucy's babies, and he would do anything for her, and begrudgingly Laxus. Fairy Tail was still their family, and that was a bond that was thicker than blood. Coming up a hill in the town square he turned a corner and relief shot through him as the familiar emblem came into view. The building at the end of the street was a sight for sore eyes and he picked up his pace. Once reaching the building he pushed the heavy doors open with his shoulder, and stumbled in.
"Loke!" Someone yelled but he couldn't figure out who it was. Though, through his exhausted haze he saw Mira jump over the counter and push her way through the gathering crowd. She was in front of him just as his legs gave out and he collapsed just barely transferring the bundles into her arms.
"Loke!" Gray quickly reached down and helped him back to his feet with an arm slung over the Ice Make wizard's shoulders. "What happened to you man?" Gray asked in a worried tone.
"Lu-Lucy… In... Tr-Trouble..." Loke panted out. "Sa-Save... Lu-cyyyy..." Loke roughly got out before slowly fading back to the celestial world. Everyone looked stunned.
"LUCY'S IN TROUBLE!" Natsu yelled frantically. "I GOTTA GO SAVE HER!" Natsu continued to shout.
"Cool it Flame brain, we don't even know where she is... We have to wait till Loke can come back and tell us what happened..." Gray said trying to stay calm.
Suddenly loud keening wails filled the guild hall rendering everyone into silence. All looking to Mira who stood there looking down at the little bundles in her arms with tears in her eyes.
"The hell is that?" Natsu peered over her shoulder trying to see what the heck was making all that noise.
"It's a baby dumb ass..." Gray said as he smacked the pink haired man over the head with his hand.
"Shut up Snow man... I know what a baby is!" Natsu growled back.
"Then why ask dumb questions Idiot..." Gray countered smacking his forehead against Natsu's.
"What did you call me?" Natsu shouted pushing his forehead back against Gray's.
"You heard me!" Gray shouted.
"I'm gonna kick your ass snow flake!" Natsu growled.
"BRING IT ON MATCH STICK!" Gray yelled as they both were pushing against each other's heads.
Both men's heads were suddenly banged together and an annoyed red-head stepped over their prone bodies. "Shut up, and get out of my way so I can see my…. Um Mira? Is it a niece or nephew?" Erza asked curiously.
"No idea... Loke barely got them in my arms before he collapsed..." She bounced the little bundles trying to calm them down but to no avail. Natsu got up rubbing his head and moved closer giving it a sniff, and then backed away quickly.
"Whatever it is, It stinks!" He stood fanning his nose. "It burns!" Natsu cried out.
"Serves you right for sticking your nose where it doesn't belong hot head..." Gray smirked.
"I'm gonna beat the crap outta you Popsicle..." Natsu growled.
"You can try!" Gray taunted.
"While it pleases me to see you two getting along again... I thought I told the both of you to SHUT UP!" Erza glared at the two of them.
"Yes Ma'am..." Natsu and Gray spoke in unison.
All the yelling caused the babies to scream even louder. Then there was a loud bang from the back hall coming from the infirmary. A loud growl coupled with dull thuds as something hit the walls. Around the corner appeared a lethargic wary Laxus. Though his eyes seemed unfocused he was still growling loudly.
"Give..." Laxus rumbled as he stumbled past the chairs and tables. The onlooking guild members moved out of his way as he came closer.
"Laxus you need to go lay down... You aren't well..." Erza said as she got in his way trying to coax him back towards the infirmary.
"Get out… Of my … Way... Now!" Laxus growled deeply.
Markarov's voice overtook Laxus' deep growl. "Let him be Erza... I suspect that there is more to this than we know..." Makarov wondered out loud.
The warrior woman gave a wary glance at the Master than turned back towards Laxus and stepped out of his way, "As you wish..." Erza said.
Mira stood there with wide eyes as Laxus drew near. He held out his hands to the woman, "Hand it over..." Laxus growled.
"It's not an it, it's a them..." Mira said as she slowly handed them over and as soon as Laxus had the babies safely tucked into his arms the crying stopped. Everyone was dumbfounded and peered at the small bundles that were dwarfed in the big man's arms. Then 4 little arms sprang up and peals of giggles rang about the guild hall.
Porlyusica moved closer towards the guild master and said with a soft chortle in her voice. "It appears you have great grandchildren..." The healer said with a hint of a smirk in her voice.
"It's about damn time..." Makarov grumbled but there was a subtle crinkle next to his eyes and a little twitch to his whiskers that she could tell he was doing his best not to break out into a full on grin. Huge blue gray eyes and brown doe like eyes stared up at him while little arms and hands waved back and forth at his face.
Laxus re-positioned the small being in his hands so he could see them better. Little hands stretched towards his face and he couldn't help but smile as he felt the little digits move across his skin haphazardly. Leaning forward he inhaled deeply then quickly moved his head back.
"Ugh.. What the hell is that smell?" Laxus groaned.
"I told them it stinks..." Natsu stated, "But no one ever listens to me..." Natsu grumbled.
"They probably just need a diaper change..." Lissana said with a giggle.
"Diaper change?" Laxus looked down at the giggling babies and then at his guild mates with a horror stricken face.
"Here we can do it for you..." Bisca held out her arms. "Our daughter was in diapers not too long ago so we're still pros darlin'..." Bisca said.
Laxus was reluctant. Everything in him was yelling at him to hold on tight and never let go. That he had to protect this little treasure no matter how stinky they were. But his logical brain knew that you couldn't let babies go for long periods of time with dirty diapers. He carefully handed his new treasures off, but as soon as his hands left their proximity the wailings started again. He instinctively growled and lunged snatching the babies back out of Bisca's arms. The wailings stopped.
"Well, it sure as hell knows who's it's daddy..." The sharpshooter giggled.
'Daddy...' Laxus thought internally. The word stunned him. It rolled through his brain like a downpour of ice water and suddenly he realized. "Holy shit… I'm a dad..." And then he realized something else that was wrong. "Wait, where's Lucy?" He looked around frantically. Everyone had a puzzled expressions on their faces.
"How did you know that they're Lucy's babies?" Gray asked with a frown.
"And what makes you think you're their dad?" Natsu asked incredulous. Laxus growled menacingly at Natsu, which normally wouldn't faze the younger fire user, but something about it this time made him back down.
"Here..." Bisca tried again as she gently gave Laxus a push towards one of the tables. "Sit here and lay the babies on the table and hold their hands. That should let them know you are still there and they can still see you..." Bisca instructed. Laxus did as he was told as the sharp shooter gathered up the duffle bag that Loke had dropped and got out the supplies she needed. Carefully undoing the soiled diapers she began to change the babies. "Well, to answer your earlier question Erza... There's a boy and a girl..." She smiled fondly and looked towards the warrior woman briefly and then back to Laxus's dazed face. "You have twins!" Bisca said cheerfully.
"Hey!" Natsu piped in. "How the hell do you know it's Laxus whose the father?" Laxus growled possessively glaring at the fire user.
"I just know... So shut the hell up before I make you shut up..." Laxus growled threateningly.
"You can try sparky! You know I've just been itching to take you on!" Natsu growled back hitting his open palm with a closed fist.
"NATSU!" Markarov rumbled through clenched teeth. "Now is not the time for that... We'll figure things out soon enough!" Makarov scolded.
Suddenly Loke appeared looking a lot more refreshed if not a still little worse for wear. "Sorry about that guys... I needed a little sleep... Rai and Willa are handfuls when they're cranky..." Loke explained tiredly.
"Rai? Willa?" Laxus questioned with a raised eyebrow.
"Yea, that's their names..." Loke said rubbing the back of his neck. "Sorry I didn't get that info to you guys before I passed out... It's been a long couple days..." Loke said.
"Enough, the children are now safe here with us... Where is Lucy, and what happened to her?" Erza stepped forward placing her hands on her hips. Everyone turned their attention to the Lion spirit as the waited for the answer.
"Right..." Loke sighed. "She had called me and Virgo and asked us to be Rai and Willa's guardians in case anything happened to her... Then we both felt an evil presence near so she told me to run with them while she went out to confront the intruders..." He looked serious and worried. "I was going to slip out the back, but I heard multiple voices so I listened for a moment... From what I could tell they must have sensed her using her magic to call on me, and that led them to her house..." Loke frowned. " I was about to turn and leave when someone came in and tried to get to us, but Virgo made a tunnel and closed it behind us... Lucy had told me to go to Hargeon and wait a couple days for her but she never came, and I didn't know what else to do, so after waiting another day, I came here..." Loke explained. He wasn't sure if he should relay the rest of the information or not. He wasn't sure how they would react knowing that Ivan was involved.
"Do you know who it was that took her or where they might have gone?" Gray asked crossing his arms in front of him with a hard frown.
"Yeah... And since she used magic, and she has her other keys, I can go back to the Celestial world and see if the others can sense where she is... I just wanted to get back here first to fill you guys in..." Loke said hoping they wouldn't push him for a name.
"Who was it then?" Makarov asked bursting Loke's bubble.
Loke sighed, "Ivan..." Loke said as he watch many emotions wash over the members of the guild. Makarov paled.
"Are you sure?" Makarov asked ignoring Laxus' growl.
"Yeah he was there looking for 'His Grandchild'..." Loke answered.
"His grandchild?! But there's 2 of them?!" Makarov asked in disbelief.
"Yeah apparently he didn't know that she had twins... She stalled him as long as she could for us to get away..." Loke explained.
"She wasn't going to tell me was she?" The soft voice of Laxus brought Loke a sigh of sadness.
"I talked to her about that... She knew she had to tell you but she's scared... She didn't want you to think that she was trying to trap you..." Loke explained.
"Why the hell would she think that?" The pink haired mage asked incredulously.
Loke pursed his lips and gave Laxus a hard look while he answered. "She said she heard him say some stuff that I believe led her to believe that is how he would feel..." Loke replied.
Laxus frowned looking down to his newly discovered twins. He just barely found out about these little beings, and already he knew that not a force in existence would ever have let him deny these little bundles of joy. But that didn't change the fact that he knew he could say stuff that would let others believe he was an asshole. Hell, he knew he could be an asshole, but this was one hell of an eye opener. Because of his words, he had been denied being there since the beginning, and Lucy had thought she had to go it alone. Without anyone, without him.
He stood up once Bisca had re-secured the clean diapers, cradling his twins to him. "We have to find her... Go and find out what you can while we get supplies ready to go..." Laxus ordered. Loke gave a long hard stare at the Lightening Dragon slayer and then nodded as he disappeared. "Anyone whose coming with better go get their supplies together and get back here quick. If you aren't here when I'm ready to go, then I'm leaving you behind..." Laxus strolled over and carefully placed the twins in the arms of his surprised grandfather. "I'm trusting you with their lives..." Laxus said as he found his fur lined coat on the chair that he was sitting on earlier and placed it around the twins.
"They're not crying this time..." Markarov stated a little awed.
Porlyusica tsked lightly. "You're their grandfather... Apparently they can sense the familial ties. I can tell they are going to be powerful wizards when they gets older... I can feel their magic within..." The healer said.
"Well of course they're going to be strong..." Laxus said indignantly. "They're my kids!" Laxus stated in a matter-of-fact tone.
"Don't get huffy with me young man!" The healer snapped. Laxus grunted slightly gazing down at the twins, then turned seeing that no one had moved yet.
"I said go!" Laxus yelled and everyone got in motion.
Gray, Erza and Natsu rushed out the doors. Probably to their respective homes to gather what they needed. Mira went around to the kitchen probably to get some food for them for travels. And his team, The Thunder Legion, ran to their quarters in the back of the guild. He followed them slowly noticing that his headache and pains were still there but dulled significantly. He thought it must be because at least 1/3 of his newly found family was safe. Rai, he had to smile. She had named his son after lightening. It was fitting, and he had to be thankful that she honored him in that way. Willa, Valiant protector, fitting he supposed.
Even though he was pissed as hell at her for running and hiding such a thing. He was even more pissed at himself that he didn't realize sooner that they were mated. He thought he had missed her just because she had been a guild mate. Not an actual Mate. Suddenly he wanted to just spank her for doing this to him. He paused and snorted at himself. Spank her. Oh yes, he was gonna spank her, and then he was going to proceed to let her know that under no circumstances was she ever, EVER to leave his side again! Fucking women always making shit difficult.
Laxus made it to his private quarters on the second floor and gathered what he needed. When he came down. He saw Loke with a few others looking over a map on one of the tables.
"Where is she?" Laxus asked as he approached the group. Droy and Jet had offered up one of Levy's atlas's and they were currently looking at an area from what he could tell was near Clover town.
"I asked Capricorn if he could sense where she was, and he said she was in the maze valley near Clover town... It's gonna be tricky cause he says there are several traps and illusions that can get you lost really easily... But he gave me a general idea of where he thinks the entrance to their hideout is..." Loke pushed his glasses up a bit on his nose and then turned the map towards Laxus and pointed to a place within the valley. "He says it's near here... That there are a series of caves that they are in... He can't tell us the way to get there cause it's not mapped out, but that's about where she is..." Loke explained.
"Oh man, that means we have to take the train…." The voice of Natsu could be heard whining. He must have returned when no one was paying attention. Gray and Erza were back too, and his team was all packed and ready as well. Mira approached with a large bag and handed it to Bickslow.
"Here's some sandwiches and a couple canteens..." She turned to Laxus with a determined stare. "We'll watch over the twins... Just bring her back home!" Mira ordered. He nodded and moved over to his twins in his grandfather's arms.
"I'll bring her back... Don't you worry..." Laxus said. Then he leaned forward on instinct and kissed the little ones foreheads before turning and striding out of the guild hall without another word knowing the others would follow suit.
Okay so that is the first chapter of this story!
I think it turned out well...
I might change the names of the twins later depends on if everyone likes these better the Seth and Zoey...
Speaking of which!
For my story EnSlaveMate What do you think I should name the twins in that one?
Let me know!
And Also, Thank you for the continued support!
Okay everyone for those of you who say about grammar and such I DO read through it before posting it, at least twice when I finish writing it in the program I use and also here before saving it!
Everything gets fixed I can't help if it doesn't stay that way when I post it...
I go through the stories with a fine tooth comb to make sure there's no errors.
Doesn't always stay though, why I have no clue!
And it's not like I'm the only one here who make grammar and spelling mistakes!
Everyone does!
No One is Perfect!
