A/N- Here's another oneshot I whipped up while working on Moonlight Promenade. I'm planning on posting the first chapter sometime soon, but I can't decide. Would you guys prefer me to write it all before posting so you don't have to wait super long in between new chapters, or should I get chapter one out soon? Let me know what you would prefer!

Also, I received a prompt from Nikki.555 on FanFiction for a toddler Peter fic, so here it is!

Enjoy!

Sometimes being an Avenger could be rough. You would go outside for a simple walk, but you couldn't make it ten feet without being bombarded by fans who wanted pictures and autographs.

Tony understood this. He was born into a family who had only known fame, and that's how he had learned to grow up. For the other Avengers, however, none of them ever truly had to deal with being under the spotlight. The public had never had a reason to recognize their faces, but in 21st century New York, that had changed.

After the battle of New York, the Avengers had to lay low for a while. So, as Thor went back to Asgard, the others Avengers all moved in to Stark tower. And they had all been met with a very unexpected surprise.

Hours after Thor and Loki went back to Asgard, the five other Avengers had all been on one of the least-damaged floors of the tower when a tiny four-year-old came bounding through the elevator.

"Daddy!" the boy had shrieked.

Tony quickly whipped around from where he had been showing the others around, a look of relief on his face as he bent to his knees and opened his arms up for the toddler. Tony sighed when Peter clung to him with all of his strength, the lingering worry of Peter's safety subsiding now that he had his boy in his arms.

"I missed you, buddy," Tony said, standing from where he was kneeling and placing a kiss on Peter's temple.

Peter was placed onto Tony's hip where the boy didn't waste a second on asking questions.

"Are you okay? I saw you way up in the sky by all of those aliens! Me and Auntie Pepper watched from the plane!" Tony couldn't tell if Peter was more scared or excited as he looked at his son, those big brown eyes filled with so much curiosity.

"I'm perfectly fine, bubba. Iron Man is invincible, right?"

Peter nodded eagerly, a grin spreading across his face. "Invincible Iron Man!"

It seemed the pair had forgotten the presence of the other four in the room until Clint cleared his throat during a moment of silence. When Peter caught sight of the others, his eyebrows disappeared behind the curls hanging over his forehead.

"Ah! Everyone, this is Peter. Peter, this is Bruce, Steve and Clint. And you know Natasha over there too."

Peter flashed the biggest smile he could to the others and waved one of his tiny hands eagerly.

And that was when Peter Stark stole the hearts of three more unexpecting people.

Over the course of three months, the Avengers got to know Peter. They saw him and his dad nearly every day in the tower, where they all became close and very overprotective of the boy. When the city was getting cleaned and was starting to look like what it used to before the battle, Natasha decided to take Peter out for some ice cream.

Peter had been begging her to go all day, which she had been reluctant about because the last time she went out, so many people had been surrounding her that she had to turn around and walk right back into the tower.

But Peter wanted to go, and he had been in the tower for so long now that she had started to feel bad. She ended up deciding to put on a hoodie and some sunglasses, and took Peter by the hand as they walked to the nearest ice cream shop.

Amazingly enough, no one had spared her a glance as she walked down the street with a bouncing toddler at her side. That was the day she discovered that the boy was all she needed to not be recognized.

The following weeks, all of the Avengers were able to take Peter out on the streets and make it back home without a single person recognizing them. Tony's fear of taking Peter out in public dissolved the more they did it, and eventually all five of the adults could go out with Peter together, and no one would spare them a second glance.

It was a warm day in June when the six of them decided to take Peter to the park they went to often just a mile away from the tower.

The five adults were seated at a picnic table next to a hotdog cart while Peter was playing on the playground. Tony was looking at some notes Bruce had scribbled down in his notebook when Steve interrupted his thoughts.

"Hey, Tony, can I borrow your phone quickly to make a call?"

Tony rolled his eyes as he pulled his phone out of his pocket. "You know Rodgers, instead of borrowing one of ours every day, I could just give you one."

Steve smiled as he stood from the table with Tony's phone in hand. "Naw, that's fine. I wouldn't be able to figure them out anyway."

Tony snorted as Steve walked away and looked back down to Bruce's notebook. A few minutes later, one of the workers from the hotdog cart walked over to their table with a tray piled high with food. Natasha smiled as she thanked the man for their food and he walked away.

Tony grabbed one of the hotdogs for himself and then stood up, planning on calling Peter over so they could eat. He frowned when he didn't spot his kid's familiar face amongst the several children running around.

Steve came running in that moment, worry on his face as he quickly sprinted back to their table. "Tony, Peter pressed his panic button," he said, gesturing to the phone in his hands.

"What?" He asked, voice raised as he looked back to the playground, but Peter was still nowhere in sight. "Give me that." Tony snatched his phone back from Steve with aggression, heart starting to pound in his chest as he pulled up the tracking information on Peter's watch.

Peter was moving at a pace a four-year-old most definitely could not move at, the red dot shown on Tony's phone nearing the parking lot at the other end of the park.

"Somethings wrong. He's in the parking lot," Tony choked out.

Steve bolted off before Tony even finished his sentence, racing through the playground and towards the rows of parked cars. The others took off soon after, their lunch left in the dust.

Steve made it to the parking lot first. He stopped in the entrance, looking back and forth for anything out of the ordinary when he heard the sound of a car door slam. He ran through the rows of cars and towards the very back of the parking lot, where he spotted a man running to the driver's door of an all-white van.

The man caught Steve's eye and they both froze for a moment. Steve was nearly two-hundred feet away from the van, but he didn't know if he would be able to make it in time before the vehicle took off. Luckily, he seemed to break out of the moment first, sprinting towards the van as fast as his legs would carry him.

The man quickly opened the door next to him as Steve started running towards him. He climbed in and slammed it shut, quickly pulling the gear into drive as his foot moved to slam on the gas pedal. A sudden thud stopped him as he looked to his left and watched his door be pulled straight off of its hinges.

Steve Rogers met the man eye to eye, a deathly look on his face as he grabbed the man and pulled him out of the car, slamming him to the ground.

Footsteps came running up behind the two of them. Steve turned, ready to knock out whoever else was trying to take his nephew until he realized it was Tony, Clint, and Natasha. One of Tony's self-driven cars came racing into the parking lot and stopped directly beside them.

Tony seemed more out of breath than everyone else, but they all knew that wasn't from the sprint to the van.

"Check the back," Steve said, short on breath himself as he nodded towards the sliding door next to them.

Clint didn't waste a second in pulling it open, and all of the adults were relieved to see Peter curled up on the floor of the van. A gag was tied around the boy's mouth, silent tears streaming down his face as he held his watch, continuously pressing the panic button on the side of it.

Tony crawled in next to Peter and pulled the gag off of Peter's mouth, sobs immediately bursting from the boy when he could speak.

"D-daddy, I d-didn't want t-to go with him! I-I couldn't g-get away!"

"Shhhh," Tony hushed him as he lifted Peter out of the van and carried him towards the car. "I know, baby. You're okay, you're safe. Daddy won't let anything happen to you."

Tony looked up to the three next to him while Peter was still sobbing in his arms.

"We've got this. Get him back to the tower, make sure his head is okay. Bruce should be back there by now," Natasha said. She had sent Bruce back to the tower before chasing after Steve, figuring this wouldn't be the best place for the man to be and he also may be needed at the medbay when they got Peter back.

Tony nodded and shut the car door, instructing JARVIS to take them back to the tower. The car took off, giving Tony the moment to inspect Peter's head after Natasha had mentioned it. He continued to whisper reassurances to his boy as he shifted Peter so he was leaning more on his chest, showing Tony a better view of the back of Peter's head. Sure enough, some of the toddler's hair was matted down with blood, only something a super-spy would notice in the moment.

Peter's crying didn't stop as the car pulled into the parking garage and Tony got out, slightly rocking his boy as they made their way to the medbay.

Bruce was waiting for them when they entered, face pinched when he spotted Peter sobbing against Tony's chest.

"Hey Petey, can you listen to me? Huh bubba?" Tony said softly, following Bruce into an examination room. Peter gasped out a confirmation as he continued to cling to his father. "Okay, Uncle Bruce here is going to look you over to make sure you aren't hurt, okay?"

The kid immediately started shaking his head and tried to hide himself away in Tony's arms. "N-no. No, I j-just want d-daddy."

"I'll stay right here, bub, okay? Brucey is just going to take a look at the back of your head."

Peter only sobbed harder as Tony tried to calm him down, leaving them with only one option. He nodded to Bruce as the doctor prepped a needle, not allowing Peter to know what was happening as he gently held the boy's leg and let Bruce inject the fluids. Peter didn't even feel the pinch and was asleep only moments later.

When Peter's eyes opened, he was met with the familiar glow of his father's arc reactor. The sight instantly calmed him, along with the small hum he could hear when he was close enough. Peter reached his hands out and ran his fingers along the lines crossing over the dim light.

"Pete?" he heard his dad whisper.

He looked up to where his dad's eyes were opened and looking at him.

"Hey, buddy. How're you feelin'?" his father's voice remained a whisper as Peter readjusted himself, his head now laying on Tony's extended arm so they were face to face, their foreheads nearly touching.

"'m good," Peter replied as he let his eyes slip shut once again.

"Yeah?" the adoration was audible in Tony's voice.

"Mhm."

"Alright, bub. Why don't you get some more sleep?" Tony said, the arm Peter wasn't resting on moving to cradle the back of the boy's head.

Peter nodded without lifting his head.

"Love you, dad," he mumbled, already half asleep.

Tony smiled as his son nuzzled his head even closer to his chest.

"I love you too, Petey."

Peter fell asleep moments later, tucked safely away in his dad's arms. Tony followed suit soon after, the feeling of his son asleep and safe in his arms enough to finally let him rest.
