Hello again. Well, most of my stories are loosely connected but not this one. I had the idea when I rewatched the last episode of the show yesterday. It hit me, when Goren came out of Dr. Gyson's office and called Eames Alex.

It's just the beginning

„I slept with my partner." It was Friday and those words were the first Bobby said as he entered the door to Dr. Gyson's office. He didn't even bother to say hello. He just blurts it out and started pacing in the room.

Paulina set down stunned, "Oh, you think that was good?" At least it is interesting. This was his third not mandatory session and she had not expected that.

"Mind-blowing," Bobby said.

"That's not what I meant." She smirked at his answer.

He stopped pacing and looked at her. For a second it seemed that he had to rethink the question then a big smile crossed his face.

It amazed her that he suddenly looked ten years younger.

"You wanna talk about it?"

"Well…" he hesitated.

Dr. Gyson blushed: "Not what I meant either. How did it happen?"

Bobby set down and shrugged. The smile did not fade "We were at her place. She had made dinner…"

"She cooks for you?" Paulina cut in.

"It's a almost a tradition. Every Thursday we have dinner. One week it's my turn to cook the next week it's hers." Bobby explained. "Yesterday was her turn and she made this really great lasagne."

"Did you drink?" Alcohol was a pretty good explanation for what happened.

"We had a glass of wine nothing more. I was about to call a cab to get home but it was only 7 pm so she asked if I wanted to watch a movie or something."

"So, no late hours of working for you yesterday. It was her idea?"

Bobby shook his head: "We do that if we have the time. It's normal."

"What movie did you watch?"

"We could not decide. Somehow we ended up with Black List."

"Oh, they say that show is good. Did you like it?" This was not a show that would lead to having sex.

He shook his head. "It's about the FBI. Cops don't like it when the FBI is sticking its nose in our cases. After the first episode we turned the TV off but by that time we already…" his voice trailed off as he thought of the evening before.

"You already… what?"

He shook his head again, this time to get his mind back into the present: "We were snuggled on the couch. I lay on my back and she on her side, somehow trapped between me and the back of the couch. Her head was on my shoulder and her finger drew circles on my shirt." Bobby lifted his hand absently to his chest where she had touched him, "I don't know how we got in this position." His eyes and mind were again back to the evening. "I felt so calm and warm and… then I looked at her and it happened. I kissed her."

His eyes were shining with happiness. Paulina could not believe what she saw.

"And then you had sex with her on the couch?"

"No, that thing is much too small for that; we made love in her bed."

"Made love?" Dr. Gyson asked. The choice of his words was interesting. And even more interesting was that he did not think about it. The man who always thought everything over when it came to such things didn't waste a thought on the term love-making.

"Yeah."

"Was it awkward after it?"

"No, not at all. We snuggled together and fell asleep. I woke shortly after midnight and watched her…"

Did he drug himself? Pauline wondered as his voice faded again and he lost himself in the memories.

"She looked so peaceful and she smiled in her sleep. I was torn between waking her and simply watching her sleep. If I woke her there would be fire and passion again but if I let her sleep I could just… just watch."

"What did you do?" Paulina asked. The answer was simple. Every man would have waken the women in his arms if it meant sex.

"I let her sleep."

Her eyebrows shot up in surprise.

"She needed it after that week and I needed it too. We both woke up an hour before the alarm and we…"

"You made love again?"

"Yes. "

"And then?"

He shrugged, "We got up, took a shower. She made coffee and we stopped at my apartment on our way to work so I could change."

"And you worked the whole day just as always?"

"It felt natural, you know? There is no awkwardness between us."

"And is she waiting for you at home now?"

"No, she is waiting outside. She dropped me off after work and we will spend the weekend in a small bed and breakfast outside of New York."

"Really?!" now she was surprised: "Don't you think this is going a little too fast?"

He laughed freely. A wonderful sound. "Took us more than a decade to come this far. There is nothing fast about it."

"I thought she was like a sister to you."

He shrugged: "Everyone lies. Including me, that's what you said."

Paulina smirked: "I'm happy that you found some peace. However… she is your partner and…"

She realized that it was not good that she started that sentence.

He rose, the smile was gone: "Are you gonna report it to our captain?"

"No, you are my patient and this is not

mandatory so the department has nothing to do with it. I just want you to be completely sure if this is what you really want. I'm positive that she'll help you to get rid of the anger but it could be rough for both of you."

The smile was back: "She is used to that and she is strong. She also promised to tell me when it's getting too much."

"So you already talked about that new kind of relationship?"

"Yes, like I said it feels natural so why not talk about it?"

Paulina was amazed to meet this whole new Robert Goren. He seemed carefree and happy. The second he was out the door she rushed to the window and saw Detective Eames leaning against the SUV, an e-book reader in her hands. She looked up to the door and the next moment Bobby stood next to her. Leaning in for a short and soft kiss.

When she saw the look on their faces Paulina knew, they would overcome every barrier on their way.
