Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Broken Chains

Chapter One: Booting Up

This sensation. What is it? It feels weird. What the hell is going on? The reptilian thought as he started to gain consciousness. It was dark and cold. A blue fluorescent light suddenly flickered on. Then hundreds. Ah, what is this? The creature closed his eyes rapidly as the light proved too intense to handle. He looked around and saw a sleek yet artificial interior.

He had no idea what was happening, he had just woken up after all. Machines seemed to be reactivating, coming back to the land of the living. This long forgotten casket was being brought back from its long slumbery rest.

A beeping sound echoed throughout the corridor. "Draining sequence initiated." A robotic voice echoed. This made the creature feel uneasy, What the hell was that about? The creature thought curiously before the artificially made purplish water drained from the capsule. It drained slowly but surely. It took a few minutes for the tube to drain completely but when it did it did.

"Draining sequence completed. Cloning Capsule opening." The same mechanical voice spurted out. Cloning Capsule, what does that me~ He didn't get to finish his sentence, the pod started to rumble. It started to split apart into two. Two openings in the floor opened as the inhabitant fell onto the cold metallic floor. The machine began to sink into the ground as the creature's hearing became significantly better. The sound of a loud gasp filled the silent room as the reptilian breathed air for the first time since its awakening. The air was filled with dust and metal, giving the impression that it must have been thousands of years since someone last used this place. What seemed like a ventilation system activated and the room was cleared of any foul smelly air. The smell of fresh air entered the creatures lungs, soon after the fresh air was breathed in the creature felt much better and more alive.

"Cloning Capsule stored successfully. Beginning growth acceleration." Just then, two openings made themselves known as the creature began to breathe at a normal pace. He tried to stand up but he noticed he couldn't. He tried doing it again and yet he wouldn't budge. Something was holding him in place. He started to panic and become stressed, he thought that if he could move around he could break free from this invisible force. This was unfortunately to no avail as the force was just too strong to break. As if things couldn't get any worse, the force started to move his body from on his knees onto his back. He was horrified, not only could he not control his actions, he couldn't stop what was about to happen. The ground beneath him started to lift up. A machine that looked like a complex square machine came down from up above. By this point the creature was scared out of his mind. His face was the definition of scared and afraid. He tried again to break free from its grasp, however, his fate had already been sealed.

"Clone capture successful. Beginning transfer of memories." A needle like object was placed on the center of his skull. There was no immediate pain in that moment. However, like a nail gun, a square shaped object was pushed deep into the base of his skull. Pain flared throughout his body, he screamed screams of agony and pain. These dreadful cries could be heard throughout the room. Unexpectedly, the machine shut off. The creature was really confused by this. "Insufficient power. Recharge mode activated. Emergency systems online." The machine sunk into the ground below him and the force that was holding him in place shut off. He fell to the floor and a thud sound was made. His entire body was filled with pain, he felt like he couldn't move a muscle.

"ER~RR~OOR! ERRO~RR! MU~ST LEAVE BUNKER NOW! RECHAR~GE MODE FA~ILED! MUST EVACUATE NOW! ERRO~R ERR~~~!" Things went from weird and confusing to worse in just a few seconds. Fear was the emotion most prevalent at the moment. He was filled to the brim with it. He started to shake rapidly, his breathing became ragged and stirred. He started to panic. He had no idea what to do. What broke his delirium was an explosion that rocked the facility. In that moment he knew only one thing, he had to get the hell out of there. It was a pain trying to stand on his legs, but he managed. Despite his recent injury, he felt the pain ebb away. Huh, that's weird. He had no time to think, he knew what he had to do. Getting off the ground, he ran towards what looked like a door. A button on the upper left hand side of the rectangular door turned from a dim blue to a bright orange. The door had opened and he bolted. Confused out of his whits, he followed what seemed to be directions. He didn't know where he was going, he just followed his gut and hoped it paid off. While running, he began to run on all fours. This felt more natural to him so he continued to do it. After what seemed like a few minutes of running and navigating through the alien corridor, he made it to the outside.

A surge of emotions flooded through the creature. Most of them he didn't know, however he knew he felt happy. The sight he saw was unforgettable. He saw trees with many green leaves on them, pink and purple flowers grow on bushes nearby, vines were all around. The sun hitting everything at just the right angle. A smile grew on his face, the sun felt really nice and warm to him. He raised his arms up to the side and smiled.

A rapid explosion broke the moment of peace and tranquility, the facility that once housed him had blown to smithereens. Flocks of birds flew away at the sound of the explosion. He was flung forward and landed on his stomach. He got off the ground and spit the dirt that got into his mouth. "Ah, Puh. Disgusting." He wiped the dirt off of his body. His attention was drawn to the massive structure that collapsed in itself. A blaze of bright blue flames engulfed the ruins of the structure. The creature just stood there, not knowing how to react. After what seemed like an eternity to the creature, a portal colored black, red, and yellow opened at the top of the discentigrated ruins of what once stood. To best describe what happened, the portal sucked up the entirety of the burned down ruins and left a crater where the building once creepily stood.

The creature seemed amused by this. His expression said that he was amazed at what had just happened. It weirdly excited him. Something about it was so fascinating, so alien. He knew he had to learn more about it.

"ROOOOOOOOOOAAAAAARRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAA!" A loud primal roar made itself known. The creature stood in fear. He turned his head towards the noise. What he saw made him run for his life. A big fat green egg shaped dinosaur came running at the creature with incredible speed. He started to run on all four legs, not letting up for once second. The egg dinosaur kept up his pace with no problem at all. The creature knew he had to slow it down somehow. Just then something weird happened, a ball of pure black energy grew in size in the creature's hand. He was taken aback by this, this is when he tripped on a rock and his body came crumbling down. The ball of black shot towards the egg dinosaur. It hit its mark dead on. The egg monster was stunned by this, it tried to get up but the pain was just too great.

The creature made a dead on run for it. He ran much faster this time than last. The egg dino roared an angry roar and tried to pursue the creature, however it wasn't going anywhere. It had suffered too much damage to its leg, it needed time to recover. He looked back at the mammoth and smiled slyly. He knew he had successfully ticked this mammoth off. Out of nowhere, his body collided with another. The two exhaled groans of pain as they fell in rhythm to the floor. It took a moment for the creature to regain his bearings. While this was happening, he noticed how scaly his body was. He just now took in what he looked like. He is colored gray with black blotchy spots here and there. His arms are long and slender like. He has five digits on each hand and his fingers end in dark black nails. His legs were just like his arms, same for his toes and toenails. He has a tail measuring around two foot. His tail ended in a slight spike. He felt his face. He had three dewlaps going on the upper sides of his head and one on the top center of his head. Small horn-like growths grew on his front bald head in between the dewlaps. On the upper back end of his jaw, two holes were on the sides of his head. He felt his front face, his jaw jutted outwards. His smile was wide with white sharp teeth. He was shocked at what he felt, he didn't know he had looked like that.

"Hey. S~Stay ba~ack." A shaky voice shook him from his delirium. He turned his head slowly in the direction of the voice. He was shocked at what he saw, what looked like a blue jackal standing on its back legs stood in front of him. "EAAAAHH" A fretful screech escaped the canine's maw. A confused look and a cocked eye made itself known. "Huh?" "You better stay right there! I'm warning you, I will defend myself if you make any sudden moves." He stared at the tense dog for a few seconds, not taking his 'threat' too seriously. He took one step towards the blue jackal to test his statement. "Errrrrraaaaaaaaa!" The blue jackal fell back and landed on his behind. He moved backwards rapidly and with closed eyes, he threw handfuls of dirt at the lizard.

This made the lizard feel agitated, he wasn't expecting a mouthful of dirt. When the jackal stopped its assault, the lizard wiped his face clean of dirt and stared menacingly at the jackal, clearly not happy with the creature's antics.

The lizard struggled to stand on his legs, Its height was 3' 2". The jackal looked like it was about to throw some more dirt or rocks or whatever it found at the lizard, he knew he needed to do something. "I'm not going to attack you, you nincompute. Now quit throwing dirt at my face!" The lizard said in a deep and demanding voice. He sounded like he had not drank anything for a while. The jackal was stunned, he had no idea how to react. This was definitely a curveball he was not expecting. He used his emotion sense and sensed that he was not hostile. His current emotion was that of annoyance and anger. What caught him off guard was a small sense of fear and concern. What could this scary looking pokemon be so afraid of? The lizard took a step forward, however his legs gave in and he collapsed to the ground.

Out of concern, he moved towards the lizard and kneeled down. "Are you alright? You look like you're in a lot of pain." The jackal asked with concern.

This struck the lizard as odd, first the jackal was screaming in horror at his sight, he threw dirt at his face, and now he completely flipped from being a total scaredy cat to a concerned normal individual. "Oh yeah! Never better! My legs feel all wobbly and I feel like I could collapse at any moment. Other than that I'm perfectly fine and I have a clean bill of health." He spoke sarcastically.

The jackal froze in place, he turned his body slowly to face the reptilian. A look of shock and regret fell onto his face. "I'm sorry I freaked out like that. I just saw a massive scary looking pokemon and I didn't know what else to do. I promise you I didn't know you weren't wild, please forgive me!" The jackal said with embarrassment. His cheeks were bright purple. He closed his eyes and bowed down, he was ready to accept any punishment he was given.

The reptilian stood there with a bewildered look. He didn't know how to react. He scuffed at the jackal and turned his back towards him. "Get off the ground and save yourself some dignity."

This made the canine's eyes go wide. He was taken aback by what this hulk of a beast had said. "Did you hear me?! Get off the ground and save some dignity!" He repeated himself with an annoyed and pissed off tone. Not wanting to anger the lizard any further, he did as he asked and prepared himself for a stern talking to. "Look, I'm not angry with you. I'm just upset that you ran into me. So for the love of everything holy, why did you do that?" This shocked the jackal, he had expected him to at least yell at him louder. He just stood there, muttering to himself inconsistently. This went on for more than a few seconds until the lizard had enough of it. "I think I have been very patient up until this point. If I have to repeat myself yet again, I will punch you into the next oblivion, so answer my damn question!" He yelled in an orderly tone. "SOIWASRUNNINGAWAYFROMTHEKINGSSOLDIERS,ALEUTENANTANDACADETITHINK,ANDIRANSTRAIGHTINTOYOU! AGAINIAMTERRIBLYSORRYABOUTTHAT! PLEASEFORGIVEME!" The jackal sounded panicked and anxious. He breathed in rapidly, trying to catch his breath.

The lizard slapped the jackal across the face hard. A slap mark was left in its place. The lizard looked annoyed. "Calm yourself down and talk more slowly, I didn't understand a word you just said." The jackal froze, he nodded slightly and breathed in and out. After a minute of doing this, he was calm enough to talk.

"Well you see I~" "Was running away from us." The duo froze their places. The jackal turned his head slowly to see his pursuers. His heart has dropped dead. Pure shock and terror invaded his body. He couldn't do anything but convulse and shake rapidly. He was sure he was going to choke on his fear or die from a heart attack.

"Who the heck are you jumble crucks." The lizard stood up bravely. Staring down the two crone heads with an intense glare. This made the jackal shriek with terror. He started to breathe in rapidly.

The two cronies chuckled viciously finding the lizard's statements amusing. "It's been awhile since someone has mildly entertained me. However you don't look like much. I would suggest you run away and save yourself. That way you have a chance at escaping with your life." The giant musclehead muppet said with a cocky smile. He sounded like he had dared him to make a move.

"Yeah, besides, it would be the smartest thing you could do since we are after the Riolu." The black parasite said with a suggestful tone of voice.

The lizard chuckled loudly, he closed his eyes and crossed his arms. The two cronies were taken aback by this. "You really think you're all that, fatback and blackworm? Please. My great great grandma is more frightening than your muppet looking face." He said this in confidence and a big smirk.

Angered by this, the musclehead responded with a good bit of rage. "Do you have any idea who we are?" The muppet said trying to act intimidating.

"Oh no I'm so scared, Arceus please save me!" He said with obvious sarcasm. He was on his knees with his hands clasped together for the added affect.

Riolu's fear increased tenfold. His shaking had doubled. In that moment he was more than petrified. He felt like he was having a panic attack. His breathing became more rapid. "Please, stop for the love of everything. You'll kill us both." His voice sounded pale and quiet. The izard turned to him and winked. "You worry too much. Trust me, I've got a plan." His smile grew more menacing. A small part of Riolu quivered knowing that they could possibly die. However, something about the lizards demeanour said he wasn't lying. The confidence he gave off to him told him that he did have a plan. This brightened the jackals mood so he decided to place some trust in the lizard.

The musclehead and black snake didn't catch on at first. They laughed a good laugh at the lizards antics. "Well now that's the cowardly attitude I like to hear! Since you decided to be a good boy, my name is Boulder, I am a Conkeldurr and my partner is an Eelektross. His name is Thunder. We are proud and loyal members of the Kings Soldiers!" He said this loud and proud and with a thunderous confidence.

The lizard started to laugh like a madman. The Conkeldurr and Eelektross jaws dropped, neither one of them had expected this to happen. "I can't believe you both fell for my obvious sarcasm. HAHAHA! Wow, that's great." He wiped away a few tears of joy from his eyes.

This got the two of them all pumped up. Their faces were bright colored. "Erah! THAT'S IT! I AM NO LONGER MESSING AROUND! I'M GOING TO CRUSH YOU NOW YOU PIPSQUEAK!" The Conkeldurr said with ferocious anger. He stared at the lizard with murderous intent.

Some sort of gear began to turn inside the Eelekross's head. He felt that something was odd about the lizard's antics. He seemed so confident with himself. There is something there, he could feel it.

The Conkeldurr charged towards the lizard with every intention to kill. He raised his concrete pillar and he took a swipe at the lizard. The lizard smiled and jumped in the air, this shocked the other three. He jumped towards his face. He bounced off the big nose of Conkeldurr with his tail and delivered a swift and brutal kick to his right eye. The Conkeldurr shouted in pain. "That's it! You're done!" He was enraged by the lizard's attack, he wanted blood. He charged at the lizard with every intent of killing him. He raised his fist and punched towards the lizard. Seeing this he moved to the side of Conkeldurr and he delivered a sucker punch to his side. He followed this by using his tail to knock over the beast by grabbing his leg and tripping him. Following this he kicked his side and delivered a punch to his head. This affected the Conkeldurr decently. Enraged by this, the Conkeldurr used new found speed to grab the lizards arm. He squeezed down hard, he broke a few of the lizards bones. This caused him great pain. He managed to muffle his screams of pain, however, his face said it all, he was hurt greatly by this. The Conkeldurr took great pleasure in causing the lizard pain. He raised his fist and punched the lizard in the rib cage. He broke two of his ribs. He threw him into a tree next to Riolu. The lizard was in great pain now. His face was in agony. His breathing had become more rapid and hard.

"Looks like this runt had more bark than bite to him." He had walked up to him and punched his head. He let out a pained groan. The Conkeldurr took great pleasure in dominating him. The Eelektross couldn't help but smile as well. This caused the Conkeldurr to laugh with him. The two laughed for a good solid minute.

Riolu was in a complete shock, he hadn't expected the lizard to have been defeated so easily. He looked down in shame, he knew it was a longshot relying on him. Something with his attitude and demeanour had made him think he would defeat the two power thugs. He started to cry, not only for hisnown defeat but for the lizards.

"You stupid dumbass idiots. You're celebrating a little too soon." The Conkeldurr and Eelekross stopped laughing and turned to face the lizard. "I will admit you got me, Boulder. I should be more cautious about fighting. I thank you for teaching me that lesson. Now it's time to collect your paycheck."

The Eelektross turned to him with a disbelieving face. "You're quite the pompous bastard, aren't chu? Look at you. You have more than a few broken bones, we proved that we are more than powerful enough to defeat you. What do we have to worry about." He said this with full confidence. His ego was bigger than ever.

"Riolu. What's your name?" The lizard asked with curiosity. "My name?" The Riolu said with a quiet tone of voice. "Ogano. That's my name. Why do you want to know right now?" The Riolu said with curiosity, not knowing where the lizard was going with this. "Do you trust me?" The lizard asked. Ogano was dumbstruck, this was the best time to ask such a question? "Why does that ma~" Do you trust me?" The lizard interrupted him, his tone never changed. Ogano didn't know what to say. Sure the lizard attacked the Conkeldurr and got some good hits in, however, he was defeated. How can he trust someone like that who is willing to put his life on the line for his sakes?

Something occurred to him at that moment. Sure he was defeated but he risked his life for him. He put himself on the line and gave him some time. Ogano was shocked at the realization. His heart felt touched. "I trust you. What do you have in mind?"He said this without realising it.

The lizard smiled at this, he felt grateful that Ogano had faith in him. "Follow my lead. Do what I do when I do it." Ogano was about to question this reasoning, however the Conkeldurr and Eelektross beat him to it.

The two cronheads were agitated by the lizard ignoring them. The Conkeldurr was about to say something, however the lizard got off the ground and stood tall. "It's true that you have caused some damage to me, however, I am not through. You have failed to break me completely. This will be your undoing." The lizard held a low tone of voice, he ignored his injuries. His face had not lost any determination. His eyes locked onto the cronies.

"I still have one last trick up my sleeve. One last ultimate final gamble." The lizard slapped his legs, never losing his determination. Ogano stared at the lizard, he had no idea what he was doing. He decided not to question anything and go with the flow.

"Oh yeah! What might that be?" The Eelektross asked. His voice had a small bit of curiosity in it. Something about this lizard was unique. He could tell he was different. To stand up after having a few of your bones broken is admirable. To face much stronger opponents head on with determination and a smile was an admirable quality. He couldn't help but respect the lizard slightly.

The lizard smiled even wider and looked to Ogano. He nodded at him, signifying that now was the time. Ogano looked at him bewildered but smiled and nodded back. He got off of the ground and put his faith in the lizard, trusting him a good bit. Thunder and Boulder starred at the lizard and Ogano. Tensions were high at that moment. Boulder stared at the lizard with hatred, wanting to break him even more for damaging his face. A vein popped out on his head, signifying his anger. Thunder could feel sweat dripping down his snake body, his nerves had got him jumpy. Ogano was nervous, he was shaking slightly. Sweat dripped on his canine body. The lizard let no emotion be known, he was as cool as an ice cube. His smile never waned.

Just then, the tension that had been brewing was broken. The lizard had made the first move. His demeanour went from confident to afraid. He was filled with fear. "Run away for your life, Ogano!" He ran away at an incredible speed. He had hoped that Ogano had run away with him.

This dumbfounded the trio, they never expected this to happen. Their mouths left a gap, their eyes widened with shock. "AAAAHHH! YOU FO~." Ogano was cut off. He froze in fear for what he had seen. Not a moment to lose, he sprinted after the lizard, not wanting to be left behind.

"Can you believe it Thunder? What cowards!" Boulder said this with a huge grin. He had expected more from the lizard. He never expected him to run away from the duo. He was shocked, disappointed and pleasantly amused with the coward. He wanted to fight him bad. "Oh well, I guess we should go after them. What do you say, Thunder?"

Thunder found himself agreeing with his partner in crime. He nodded at him with a smile. "Why ask Boulder? It's our job to hunt down any one who resists our king's wishes." His smirk never fell.

"Rooooooooaaarr!" A loud roar made itself known to the non attentive duo. They froze right in their tracks and turned slowly to face whatever had made that noise. What they saw made them panic. The same large green egg shaped dinosaur that was chasing the lizard earlier appeared before them, and it looked like it had a bone to pick with them. "I-i-isss tthhhaaa-tt w-w-what I t-t-think i-it is?" Boulder asked with petrified fear in his voice. "A TT-t-t-tyra-ani-t-t-tar. Y-y-y-y-es." Thunder confirmed his friend's question. "Errrrraaaahhhh!" The Tyranitar shouted loudly as he charged towards the duo. The two stared back at one another and gulped loudly. Their shrieks of terror could be heard from a far distance.

Ogano's eyebrow raised in surprise. He was certain that he just heard the oppressive duo scream with terror. He looked to the lizard with a curious gaze. He was met with a wide toothful smile, he was clearly amused with how things turned out. "So what was that back there? Why did the two of them scream? Explain yourself." Ogano demanded stopping in his place. He inhaled and exhaled as he stood there. He clearly was worn out from all the running the two have done.

"To put it bluntly, I was buying time for us to make a successful get away. I knew that egg shaped dino was after me, so I waited until he or she caught up and that's when I decided to make a run for it. I'm glad you had my back back there." The lizard said with appreciation and a smile.

Ogano smiled at this, feeling appreciation surge throughout his body. His breathing had now returned to normal.

"Speaking of which, why didn't you attack the Eelektross back there. I feel like if we would have taken them on together we could have had a better chance at defeating them." Ogano froze in his tracks. He had not expected the lizard to bring that up. He turned to the direction of the lizard and froze. He held a questioning gaze to Ogano, his eyes locked onto him with suspicion and curiosity. His brow area was raised high above the sky.

"Well you see. Uh. I. Um." He tried to explain himself. However he didn't know what to say. He was at a loss of words.

"So you're not the fighting type, then." The lizard answered him with a single sentence.

Ogano was surprised, he wasn't expecting the lizard to answer for him. He looked down to the ground and sighed. "Yeah. That's the case."

The lizard grunted in understanding. Disappointment filled his being. He thought Ogano was a fighter, however, that seems like that isn't the case. "I can tell you're nervous, it's alright. Considering how I look, I understand if you see me as a freak of nature or something." The lizard looked down to the ground. He said this in a depressed voice, like he was somewhere else in that moment.

Ogano gasps, he stares at the lizard. He felt awful, his stomach felt like he had ate butterflies. "No. I don't see you as a freak." The lizard looked back to him, his full attention was put on him. "Ah. Well-um you-uh see." The lizard started to turn away, he looked even sadder. Ogano coughed into his paw and resumed. The lizard's head stopped where it was. "I'm not that great with conversations. I am a very nervous individual and I hate conflict. It makes me feel sick. I do my best to avoid it. I mean sure this world is not kind to good people. I see people getting beat up on a daily basis. Thieves take as they please. The soldiers do what they want to people. Good people have died at the hands of the Kings soldiers. I hate the thought of it, yeah, but what can I do? I'm just a mistake." Ogano covered his mouth, he did not mean to blurt out that part. His face grew a bright crimson.

"Don't you dare say that!" The lizard said passionately. His eyes glowing with rage.

Ogano was stunned by this, he hadn't expected the lizard to get so defensive. "Nobody is a mistake. No matter if they were planned or not, we all have a purpose in life. You just have to find yours." The lizard's words stuck to him. Nobody had ever told him that he was worth something in life. "Thank you." Ogano whispered lightly. His voice trembled as he spoke. He ran towards the lizard and bear hugged him. His crying and tears never cease, only increasing in volume.

The lizard gasped out slightly, he was taken aback by this action. His face had shock written all over it. "Oh thank you! Thank you very much!" Ogano said happily in between sobs, being completely overwhelmed by joy and sadness. The lizard grew increasingly awkward, he decided to slowly pat him on the back. Ogano hugged him harder, crushing him slightly. The lizard wheezed in that moment, Ogano's grip proved to be too hard to handle. "You're. Squeezing me. A little. To hard." The lizard said in a groaning breath. This plea fell on deaf ears, Ogano was too caught up in the moment. Having enough of Ogano, he shoved him off hard making him fall backwards onto the ground.

"Alright, alright. Get a hold of yourself man. You're looking kind of pathetic." He crossed his arms as he turned away from him with annoyance in his tone of voice. Relief flooded him, he was grateful the show of affection had ended.

Ogano sat there for some time, unmoving or unwavering. It took a moment for him to regain his composure. He sat back up and whipped whatever was left off of his face. "Sorry about that. No one ever told me my life was worth something." He spoke with shame in his voice. He rubbed the back of his head, his anxiety got the better of him. "My step father and mother were never supportive of my dreams and they always called me unwanted. All the school children made fun of me for having no parents."

The lizard's fist tightened hard, hearing Ogano's story really pissed him off. His face was tense, his muscles constricted with one another. His expressional mouth was angry. "How dare they." The lizard sounded like he was going to blow a fuse. "They sound like total douchebags. I swear if I ever see them I will beat them into the ground." His fiery determination made Ogano's eyes go wide. He hadn't expected the lizard to be this concerned with his life.

"This is going to sound a bit weird but do you have a name? I mean every sentient pokemon has one, so what's yours? Also where did you come from? It's like you phased into reality a few hours ago." Ogano questioned with a half cocked smile.

"Sentient Pokemon? I thought you were a Riolu." The lizard said with a deadpan expression.

This took Ogano back. He was confused greatly by this question. "How do you not know what that is? To put it simply, a pokemon classifies several different species of sentient beings, like you and I. There are many pokemon that come in different shapes and sizes. There's also different type classifications of pokemon. I am a Riolu, which means my type classification is fighting. I'm not too sure about your types, however, I'm sure we can find a book on what type you are. Also before I forget, a sentient pokemon is an intelligent pokemon. A wild pokemon is the opposite of a sentient one. For example, I am a sentient pokemon, same to you. That Tyranitar back there was a wild one. To sum it up, wild pokemon are only capable of thinking simply while an intelligent pokemon can think more complexly. Makes sense?" Ogano had a hopeful smile on his face. He did his best to reassure the lizard.

"That sounds really cool, but wait, pokemon can have two different types?" The lizard asked with curiosity.

Ogano had not predicted the lizard asking him another question. He wanted to confront the lizard about it but he decided that it wasn't a big deal. "Yeah. Most pokemon can have two types. This happens when they evolve. For example, my next evolution is Lucario. Lucario gains another type which is steel. That makes them Fighting and Steel types." Ogano had a proud smile on his face, his back was straightened and his paws were on his sides.

"Evolution? What's that?" The lizard looked really confused at that moment. His index and middle fingers were on his chin area. His head was crooked to the left side. His eyes stared at Ogano. His right brow area was raised very high.

Ogano's confident posture was dropped at that moment. He stared at the lizard with annoyance, he wished he would drop his questioning and answer his question. "Evolution is when a pokemon advances to the next stage in their lives. It's when they change. Their bodies and personalities change as well. They become stronger and quicker as a result. Then there are some that can advance to a new stage, one not many have the capability to go to. This is called Mega Evolution. My species of pokemon is one of many that have the capability to do this." Ogano smiled at this, knowing that he was special in some way or another.

The lizard processed this information, finding it very useful. "Thank you a lot, Ogano. You really helped me out at better understanding this world. You're a good friend." He smiled in gratitude at his friend, feeling grateful for his teachings.

"Same to you, amigo." Ogano said feeling incredibly grateful for not having to answer anymore of his questions. Speaking of which.

"About the question I asked you." Ogano asked his new reptilian friend trying to remind him about the answer he hadn't gave him yet.

"That's it. That's my name! Amigo. That's my name!" Amigo shouted letting his excitement flood out for all those who could hear.

Ogano stared at Amigo in confusion, he had no clue what he was on about. "Uh, are you alright?" Ogano asked Amigo sounding incredibly concerned.

Amigo looked at Ogano and hugged him happily. His child like excitement was something that Ogano had not expected. He liked this though. He welcomed his embrace by hugging him back. This went on for a few minutes until Ogano interrupted Amigo, realising that his question had yet to be answered.

"Uh, hey Amigo?" A quiet voice questioned. Amigo, still happy out of his wits, let go of his friend, stepped backwards, and patted his shoulder. "Yeah Ogano? What do you need?" Amigo was like a kid on christmas morning waiting to open their presents. "Don't you know anything about where you come from? I mean I've never saw a pokemon that looked like you, so you must be from a foreign land, right?"

Amigo's expression went from overly happy to shocked and sad. He didn't move from where he stood. He stared at the ground and tightened his fist. Any life that was present within him had suddenly been extinguished. Ogano noticed this and immediately regretted ever asking him. Feeling guilty, he decided to take back what he said.

"I don't know anything about where I came from, my species, or even my family. I was born in a tube of some sort and I just woke up today." The lizard's tone of voice was quiet. His eyes never left the ground. His back slightly hunched over, he looked down further and shut his eyes, his hurt had only been increased.

Ogano stopped dead in his tracks. He stared at the lizard with awe. He used his ability to read him. He felt a sadness that was foreign to him. This feeling made him feel worthless. His regret had only tripled in that moment. He wanted nothing more than to comfort his friend at that moment and make up for his own mess up.

"Amigo. I can't even begin to tell you how sorry I am for opening up that can of worms. If only I would have known, I wouldn't have asked." Ogano's voice stuttered, he felt like that wasn't enough. What kind of person am I making my best friend feel like that. I should feel ashamed, no friend would do that to their friend. He cried slightly at this thought, feeling like the worst pokemon that ever existed. "Some friend I am. You don't deserve me, you deserve better. I'm just a failure after all, what good can I do." Ogano spoke softly in the last sentence. The tears had begun to increase, regret was at its max. A comforting hand was put onto his shoulder. He stopped crying and faced Amigo. Amigo smiled slightly, staring him down with eyes of comfort.

"It's ok, Ogano. How could you know what I have gone through. I mean it's a very strange origin story, that's for sure." Amigo laughed at this, finding enjoyment in this. This made Ogano feel better, his mood shifted from being depressed to being somewhat happy. "Don't ever say that your a mistake. You're here for a reason. I am and so are you. We just have to figure it out together." Amigo held his hand out to Ogano hoping that he had cheered him up.

Ogano didn't know how to react. His body froze at that moment. He couldn't do anything. His friend had reassured him and told him yet again that he mattered. This meant so much to him, he didn't know how to return the gratitude he felt in that moment. His body, however, moved on its own and gripped Amigos hand firmly. They shook and stared at each other with passionate energies. Amigo and Ogano's smiles were wider than they ever have been.

"ROOOOOAAAAARRRRRRR!" The moment the two had shared had been interrupted by a loud, ferocious roar. They froze in their places, neither one moved. They turned in the direction of the roar and saw the same Tyranitar from earlier running towards them, its face was that of one very angry individual.

"Oh come on! Doesn't this guy ever give up!" Amigo said exasperatingly. His eyes were wide with horror and shock, he couldn't believe the creature was still standing. As much as he didn't want to, he knew he had to fight. He got in a fighting stance, ready to take on this behemoth.

With a determined face, Ogano started to make a run in a direction opposite of the behemoth. "Come on, Amigo. Follow me." He said with a plea in his voice.

"We have no other choice but to fight. If we want to see another day, then we have to stand our grounds." Amigo said this with a determined face, he did not want to give up that easily.

Annoyed by this, Ogano slapped his head. "No you dummy. I know a place where we can get away from it. Do you trust me or not?"

Amigo was caught off guard by this question. He didn't know how to reply. He had asked Ogano the same question before and he put his faith in him no problem, it would be hypocritical to not give him the same trust.

With a disgusted gruff, he turned to Ogano and replied, "Alright. I trust you. Where are we going?"

Ogano smirked at this, his confidence grew a decent chunk. "We're going to Red Rock Cave. It's a mystery dungeon."

Authors Notes: Hello everyone. Thank you for reading the first chapter of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Broken Chains. I wanted to write this down to explain a few things to you guys who may or may not be interested in my story. You might be wondering what this story is, it's not your typical story you'd read on a decent basis. To answer that, its something unique. I wanted to write something like this for a long time now. This character is someone I am very passionate about. I imagine this guy, Amigo, as me. I always wanted to write a story with my character and so here it is. I want to let you know that I will try and upload a new chapter to this story every three weeks or so. This chapter took me 10 days to write and edit, so it will be a while. To those of you who are curious about writing your criticisms, (keep reading) I am not against it. I am against hateful negative criticisms, not constructed criticisms. This story may seem like my first, however I wrote another one and it got hateful messages. It killed any interest I had with writing stories and so I left. I let them get to me. I am back now with a better mindset delivering what I hope to be a good story. I want to get better at writing stories, that's why I am here. I feel like completely taking a shit on someone's story gives them nothing but making them feel negative about their skills as a writer and it demoralizes them. So please no hate filled negative criticisms. Actually let me correct myself. Please no unconstructed hate filled garbage comments. With that said and done, I hope you have enjoyed this chapter. I am eagerly awaiting peoples reactions to this story. Next chapter should be out soon, I've got some writing done with it however I have not started on the mystery dungeon exploration. I put a few easter eggs from a few favorite series of mine in here so if you find them then you're a cool person. :) One last thing, I'm taking inspiration from AuraFighter23 with his story Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Resistance. Its a really good series to read and I would recommend reading it. It's a good time and pretty entertaining. That's it from me, see you all next time, peace.
