Something I got from re-watching Netflix MCU shows, in particular Daredevil and The Defenders and reading some older Daredevil and Elektra comics. Takes place post-Season 3 of Daredevil (Seriously, screw Disney for cancelling all Netflix MCU shows but now that their stupid 2-year clause of banning the characters from Netflix MCU appearing elsewhere is over, hopefully they will appear in the near future again and I heard rumors that Charlie Cox will appear in the third Spider-Man film but given how they turned Peter into a big Tony Stark fanboy, not really putting much stock in the film but we'll see if it'll be worth it).

Partly inspired by one scene from Stand with Ward and Queen's 'Crisis on two earths'. Plus a small reference to House MD.

Disclaimer: I do not own anything in Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In a hospital at the outskirts of New York, a dark-haired woman was lying on the stretcher, covered in bruises and bandages all over her body, attached to life support as one of the nurses were checking her over before she turned to the doctor.

"Do you know who this Jane Doe is? She's been here for months." The nurse asked as she checked the file at the woman's stretcher.

"No idea." The doctor shrugged. "They found her few months ago at the bank of the river, covered in bruises and burns and surprisingly just few skeletal fractures. I've seen such injuries on soldiers before, when they got bad luck going through minefield or running away from bombardment. No ID, DNA, fingerprints, dentals didn't come back with any matches. Sometimes she comes to, barely, whispering one name over and over again before she passes out. Honestly, it's a miracle she's still alive after all this time."

"What name?" The nurse asked.

"Matthew…" The woman whispered.

"That one." The doctor said before the woman weakly opened her eyes, much to the doctor's surprise as the woman looked around and attempted to get up.

"Where… where is Matthew?" The woman asked as they noticed her accent which was… European.

"Easy. Easy." The nurse said, holding the woman down. "Who is 'Matthew'?"

At Nelson, Murdock & Page, Karen was filing some papers, when the phone rang as she answered the phone. "Nelson, Murdock & Page, how can I help you?"

"I'd like to speak with Matthew Murdock. Is this a correct number?"

Matt immediately turned his head, when he heard the voice asking for him, wondering who it was and what did they want.

"Yeah, hold on a second." Karen said before she handed Matt the receiver as he approached.

"Yes, this is Matt Murdock. Can I help you?" Matt said.

"Mr. Murdock, this is Dr. Allison Cameron. A Jane Doe who had been found few months ago with severe injuries and been in coma since then, awoke this morning in our hospital, asking for you by name. She's been barely able to stay awake but only few days ago we got something coherent out of her, I thought you might know her." Dr. Cameron said.

"A Jane Doe? Can you describe her?" Matt asked, confused.

"Dark-haired woman, late 30s, foreign accent, European, I think." Dr. Cameron said and Matt felt some stinging feeling he had not felt in a while.

"Where is the address?" Matt asked.

"Honestly, it's a surprise she's recovering so quickly, considering that she's been in coma for months." Dr. Cameron explained as she accompanied Matt down the corridor as he waved his cane around to pass himself as an ordinary blind man. "If I didn't know better, I'd say she's been injected with Super Soldier serum but all her tests have come back clean."

Matt realized that it was because of the Hand's mystical enhancements for the Black Sky that she survived. "How is she?"

"Progressively better but it might be best to keep her for observation for a few days, just to be sure. Is she a friend of yours?" Dr. Cameron asked.

"Well… that's one way to put it." Matt said as he sniffed the familiar smell and heard the familiar heartbeat, hoping she had really come back.

Elektra was staring outside the window before she heard footsteps and turned around, while Matt stilled as he ended up in the same room with her. The same heartbeat, the same smell… but was it really her?

"Hello, Matthew." She said with the same mix of fondness and a hint of arrogance.

Matt and Elektra walked down the halls, with Elektra leaning onto a stand with drip full of sedatives to keep her pain at bay before they sat down as she looked at him, while he just listened to her heartbeat and sniffed her smell.

"I… I can't believe it." Matt said.

"Honestly, neither can I." Elektra said with pain in her tone. "Matthew… for what it's worth… I know I cannot change what I've done but I'm—"

"Don't." Matt raised his hand, interrupting her. He could tell she was sincerely remorseful. "I… Let's leave what happened in the past." He chuckled softly. "I'd almost lost faith but now I know that I… I can't give up, even if I want to, since the people I love, won't let me."

Elektra turned to him, smiling. "You once told me I didn't want to be alone in the darkness. Maybe now I don't have to be. Do you still believe in me?"

Matt could tell she was honest as he held her hand. "I never gave up on you. And I won't do it now."

They kissed for a few moments as they could feel their buried feelings for each other resurfacing.

Late at night at docks, Turk Barrett was running away as the Masked Man in black with a bandana around his eyes and hair and with Muay Thai ropes around his hands was beating up other thugs before he pulled out a gun as another figure, a woman in black suit but with a mask similar to Daredevil's on her head and red scarf around her mouth threw a sai, pinning his hand to the wall as Turk screamed in pain and stared at the woman in fear.

"Who… who the hell are you?" Turk demanded as Elektra smirked under the scarf.

"I'm Daredevil." She said and the last thing Turk remembered was her fist aiming at his face before everything turned black and Matt chuckled.

In the morning, Foggy and Karen were preparing the office, when they saw Matt enter and smiling. They had not seen him this happy in what felt like a lifetime since they took Fisk down again, alongside Benjamin 'Dex' Poindexter.

"You look particularly happy today. Did something interesting happen?" Karen asked.

"Was it another thug you took down? Or a girl?" Foggy asked and Matt chuckled and Foggy clapped his hands. "It is a girl! Who is it?"

Matt and Karen chuckled at his antics.

"I'll tell you later over lunch. Any client or a case we got?" Matt asked as he hung his jacket on the coat hanger.

In Matt's apartment that had been returned to its original state since being ransacked by the FBI, Elektra got up from the bed, wrapping the blanket around to cover herself, with her clothes scattered around as she picked the Daredevil mask from the floor. Now she understood why Matt channeled his anger, fear and pain into it. And if he found himself rising above it, perhaps she could use the Devil to honor Matt and be the woman he had believed her to be.

Pity that Elektra never appeared again after Daredevil Season 2 and Defenders and I read somewhere that if not for Elodie Yung's pregnancy, they would've at least considered trying to find a way to put Elektra into Season 3 but they wanted to use Fisk and Bullseye (Dex) but given that Elektra had already enough attention in Season 2 and Defenders, it was unlikely and the pregnancy was just the deal-breaker.

In recent Daredevil comic books, Matt as Daredevil accidentally killed a thug, by giving him serious brain damage after beating him up and ended up in prison for manslaughter, so Elektra ended up taking Matt's mantle as Daredevil, using her own costume similar to her Season 2 outfit with Daredevil mask and she doesn't look bad in it, IMO. Plus, Matt said he had outgrown what the suit stood for, so I thought, 'Why not?'

Please review and let me know if you have enjoyed this one-shot.
