Goldenstar watched the image int the starry pool like a hawk. Something wasn't right about it. Something that would change history for better or worse all started with this.
A chilly breeze passed through the clearing, it pierced straight through Goldenstar's fur and to her skin like icy claws.
A cool breeze was usually welcome in Starclan but this one felt ominous. Just like the one she felt when Riverclan and Windclan were driven out but even worst.
The image showed Mintleaf, the Thunderclan medicine cat on his way back to camp, jaw full of herbs and front legs wrapped with cobwebs.
The black toms ears perked up as if he had just heard something unusual. Mintleaf dropped the herbs and scanned the clearing. He opened his jaws to smell the scents around him. The black tom found a scent trail and followed it to a holly bush.
Surprise sparked in his eyes and he glanced around sniffing for a scent. But with distraught on his face he dived in the poky bush, thorns grabbing onto his sleek pelt. When he came out he had two kits in his jaws.
The image faded and Goldenstar was left wondering why the Starpool had shown her this.
Something about those kits...
Suddenly a strong gust knocked the starry she cat of her paws. When she recovered from shock she jumped up swiftly to her paws and gaped in awe at the figure that stood before her.
A very, she and meant very large white she cat stood before her. The cat's fur was long and silky, flowing gracefully into the breeze.
Goldenstar thought back when she was a lot and the elders told her stories of large cats with beautiful manes.
Lions they were called.
The golden she cat took a shaky step backwards.
"Do not fear me, I will not harm you." The large cats milky white eyes seem to stare into the Starclan cat's soul.
"W-who are you?" Goldenstar spluttered. She swore her fast beating heart would jump out of her at any moment know.
"I am Life, creator of all cats and I've come to warn you. My brother Death has awoken from his slumber and has declared war with me."
Death?! I'm guessing if she is the creator of life them he must be-
"The destruction of life." Life finished her thought. The Starclan leader stared in awe at the beautiful white she cat.
"You can read minds!" Life nodded, a slight smile of amusement forming on her face but was quickly replaced with seriousness.
"Those kits you have seen are our creations, they will determine who will be the winner of this war." Life stared into the Starpool which brought up images again. This time it showed Mintleaf running back to camp as fast as he could with two kits in his mouth.
"Why can't you and your brother fight yourselves? Are you scared he will win?" Goldenstar challenged.
Life didn't seem to be offended but instead replied casually.
"If me and brother were to fight ourselves then it would truly be the end of everything. Even Starclan up here wouldn't be safe."
Goldenstar nodded and took a shaky breathe. She really wished this was a dream. That she would wake up and share with her clanmates of her silly nightmare but deep down she knew this was real.
Once more she took a deep breathe, shaking her pelt out and all her fear along with it.
Time to act like a leader.
"What do you want me to do?" Goldenstar asked confidently.
Life didn't seem too surprised about her new found confidence. Not even a twitch of a whisker.
"You must do nothing, you cannot not interfere, it may only make things worst."
Goldenstar prickled,
"What is the point in warning me then telling me to do nothing!" She hissed.
Life sighed.
"I told you because you must dissuade the rest of Starclan from interfering, soon enough they will find out something is up and tell the clan cats. Starclan must stay silent until this is over..." The large she cat disappeared, leaving Goldenstar with so many more unanswered questions and a difficult task ahead.
