Before this starts, just a quick disclaimer that this story / idea is very highly experimental and i'm still working around how i'm going to form this in a written format. Any suggestions for anything at all that could help improve this are welcome as i'm trying to stick to a specific genre, while also trying to stay true to how these characters are in the Comics as well as implementing a comedic sense to them.
"Oh man! You guys started Lunch without me?" Green Lantern flew into the Watchtower cafeteria and gently landed onto the ground, the green aura surrounding his body disappearing suddenly.
"Hal! We weren't sure how long you were going to take. Sorry, pal." Superman spoke up as he set down his lunch, gently floating towards Green Lantern as Flash zoomed around the Cafeteria tables and past Aquaman, who seemed to be trying to save one of the fish.
"Right, yeah totally. I see how it is." Beginning to hover a few centimetres above the ground, Green Lantern made his way to the same table Superman was sitting at, turning to Flash who was still running around the Cafeteria aimlessly.
"Yo Barry, everything good up there?" Green Lantern called out to Flash upon sitting down in an empty seat, quickly causing Flash to stop in his tracks, carrying quite a large supply of food in his arms.
"So sorry! Just a bit hungry is all." Struggling to keep all the food items in his arms, Flash gets a number of strange looks from each member of the League as he awkwardly makes his way to an empty table at a normal speed, sitting down.
VOICE LOG: THE FLASH : See the thing is, I just feel the team is just... struggling to see the whole 'I need to constantly eat' downside of my abilities. If they had my abilities, then maybe they'd understand... One day...
"Everyone, listen up." Everyone in the Cafeteria turns to face Batman as he enters inside, clearly about to make some sort of announcement.
"As you've all been made aware, we have a new recruit coming in for a test run for a spot on the League. I'd like if you all were to remain within the Watchtower to support this possible new member to the League."
VOICE LOG: BATMAN : Normally with a decision like this, i'd call a meeting with the entire League... But I don't have the time to be caught in the middle of why i'm recruiting a 12-year old kid to the Justice League.
"I sure hope you don't mean that guy who's going around with the name 'Shazam'. We do have a reputation to keep, Bats." Green Lantern let out suddenly from his table. In response to this, Batman remained fashionably silent, as if he was judging him before briskly turning back the way he came.
"I think it's safe to assume it's the Shazam guy, right Barry?" Green Lantern turned to face Flash, who had his mouth stuffed with food as he looked towards Hal, wanting to reply but was physically unable to.
"...Good to know, Barry."
After a few minutes pass, the League eventually clears out of the Cafeteria, making their way to their own seperate areas of the Watchtower as Batman begins the recruitment process for the hero known as 'Shazam'.
"It really is an honour to meet you, Batman. I've read up so much about you, just cause I thought there might be a quiz maybe or."
"You're not going to be quizzed on each and every one of my activities, Billy." Batman replied, staring at Shazam closely who suddenly appeared shocked.
"You know who I am?"
"Of course I do... I'm Batman." Batman slightly turned away from Shazam, doing an incredible job of holding back a smirk.
VOICE LOG: BATMAN : In my years of crime fighting, i've recruited a number of allies. Notably some, if not most of them were kids who fought alongside me under the codename 'Robin'. So i've worked with kids in this regard before. Except this time, they just so happen to have the abilities equivalent to mythical Greek Gods... Diana would have a field day with this one.
"I've followed your... efforts in your own short career of being a 'super-hero'. Despite your good intentions, what concerns me is your lack of maturity in certain situations."
"Well I am just a kid, what else do you expect?"
"Wait, he's a kid?" Wonder Woman's voiced suddenly entered into the room as she stood at the entrance, staring intently at Shazam.
"It's a slight oversimplification, but yes." Batman replied back, indirectly defending Shazam. By the look on Wonder Woman's face, it was clear that she did not agree with his decision as she swiftly exited the room to inform the rest of the League.
VOICE LOG: SHAZAM : I'm starting to think i'm a little outta my league here. I mean, i'm used to just dealin' with stupid criminals who are dumb enough to get caught. These guys are just... another level.
"It looks like the recruitment stage will have to wait." Batman spoke as he made his way towards the exit, following quickly behind Wonder Woman who was now already in the Watchtower meeting room.
"Really Bats? A kid? How old's this guy anyway." Green Lantern asked as soon as everyone was seated properly.
"Twelve. I'd like to bring to light that he does possess the Wisdom of Solomon. He has the capacity to be mature like most of us." Batman quickly glanced over to Green Lantern as he finished his sentence, still clearly in defence of Shazam before he looked to the other members of the League.
"Whatever his abilities, it doesn't help the fact that he is a child." Wonder Woman voiced her opinion to the rest of the League as she looked to Batman, expecting a rebuttal from him.
"Don't the Amazon's train you guys from birth?" The Flash asked her after he finished chewing a bite of his burger he had managed to smuggle into the meeting room.
"That's entirely different. The Daughters of Themyscira are born to become great warriors. No human would ever be able to live up to those standards." A silence drew over the table until suddenly-
"Regardless of the boys age, he possesses an incredible amount of power. He'd be good to have fighting alongside us." Superman said, breaking the silence in the Watchtower meeting room.
"I say give him a chance. If he messes up, we can always vote him out." The Flash suggested, waiting for approval from the other members.
"It's settled then. We give Shazam a chance to be on the League." Batman was quick to respond, drawing another silence upon the table as some of the members agreed whereas others did not want a kid to accompany them on the team. Whatever their opinions, it was too late to voice them as the members of the League quickly made their way towards the exit and back towards where they had left Shazam who was now gone.
"How convenient. Look's like he does have that level of maturity you were on about, eh Bats?" Green Lantern joked as he turned to Batman who seemed to be even more upset than normal.
"Clark, try to find Shazam. We still have a recruitment process to go through." Batman requested as Superman nodded briskly, making his way towards the teleporter within the Watchtower
VOICE LOG: SUPERMAN : Normally in a situation like this, I wouldn't be in favour of endangering the life of a child. But if Bruce believes this is the right option, then so do I.
As Superman left, the rest of the League began to clear out, leaving just Batman and Wonder Woman in the room alone.
"You better be right about him." Wonder Woman argued to Batman before she turned towards the exit.
