Victoria was working at the diner, cleaning the tables, while also bothering the mess out Luke. "I'm surprised your crazy addicted mother isn't here yet." Luke grumbled. Victoria laughed, "She'll be here soon, it's almost witching hour." She said with a wink. "I'm just happy you dont drink that stuff. I tried to save Rory, but it was a little too late." He said. Victoria rolled her eyes at the mention of her sister. She knew they were each other's, literal halves, but they were so different. Lorelai soon opens the door of the dinner, with a coffee mug in hand. "You called it." Luke said, speaking to Victoria's direction in the back. She was hanging up her apron, as her shift ended. Lorelai laughed, "I'm sure she did. It's one of THE witching hours." As Luke poured the coffee into the mug. Victoria sat down at a table where her mother joined her, "Have a good day today?" Her mother asked. Victoria smiled, "Yes, I did. It's payday! So, I'm going into Hartford to pick up my cables and monitor." Lorelai smiled and wondered where her daughter's fascination with computers came from. Victoria had learned how to code and convert decimals into binary ever since she came home from the library with Rory with a few Computer Science books. She had been building her own computer. Rory soon came into the diner, and Victoria knew her time was over. Rory always took up the topics in most conversations.
Rory had the book smarts and was hooked on phonics. She went to school, her best friends Lane's house, the Crap Shack, the dinner and that was it. Victoria on the other hand went to school, the diner because she worked there, repaired Stars Hollow's computers, and home. She insisted on working to be able to buy her own parts and components to build a computer and saving up for a potential thought she was a mad computer genius/ Inventor and her room was her lab. She was in the process of trying to enhance the battery life, improve graphics, and whatever else she read about. She even paid to increase internet speed at her home, she couldn't stand dialup.
It was time for school and Lorelai had begun to make the rounds to make sure her offspring were awake and ready to go. She opened Victoria's bedroom which was on the second floor. She saw Victoria, dressed, chewing on a banana, and already at her computer desk. "Please tell me you went to bed this time?" She says as she throws her stuffed bear at her. Victoria smiled, "I actually did. Surprisingly. Just woke up early. Made a pot of Coffee for your guys!" Victoria said while grabbing her bag. "You are my favorite daughter!" Lorelai said while kissing Victoria's forehead. "Yeah, yeah," she said.
Rory was also awake, at the kitchen table, packing her bag. "Tori, thanks for making coffee!" She said. Victoria smiled, "No problem." "I still can't believe you don't drink, considering you spend most nights awake." Rory said. "It's because I actually eat non processed food." Victoria said sarcastically. "You spend way too much time with Luke." Lorelai said. The girls laughed and they went out the door to begin their day. Victoria was in math class while Rory was in English class. Liam, Victoria's best friend was braiding Victoria's hair while the sub sat at the front of the class reading. It was free for all. Liam passed a note to Victoria, 'Bridge later?" She turned back, smiled and nodded. Liam and Victoria have been best friends since kindergarten. He was in Victoria's Lane. Later that day Victoria and Liam were at the bridge, Liam had taken out a blunt, and Victoria clapped her hands. As good as Victoria was, she sometimes did break the law by smoking marijuana every now and then. It was their little secret. "You think your sister got into Chilton?" Liam said as he held in the smoke. Victoria nodded, and took a drag, "Duh, who doesn't want miss perfect at their school?" She laughed. "I'm glad you didn't want to go, tor" Liam said as he got closer. Victoria got closer to and kept her knees close to her chest. "You know I wouldn't fit in there. Plus, the thought of not having my sister around at school, to be compared to, was just too good to pass up." She said. Liam put his forehead on Victoria's. He put out the blunt, saving it for later. "I wouldn't of known what to do without you." He whispered. "It's a new school 45 mins away, not the end of the country." She laughed. "Wouldn't matter to me." He said. He took his forehead off hers and stood up. "Let's go swing the smell of." He said as he pulled Victoria up.
"Only for a little bit, gotta meet the family at the inn." Victoria said.
Victoria was making her way to the inn and ran into Rory. "Hey, didn't see you after school?" Rory said. Victoria smiled, "yeah, Liam. We were at the bridge. He brought me over some cable ties. Need them for wire organization." She said. Rory nodded. There wasn't much said between the two. Rory always wished she could be closer to her sister, but Victoria wouldn't budge. The twins walked into the kitchen where their Mother looked, a little too happy. Too suspicious. "Did you do something slutty?" Victoria asked, "Flashed anyone, good?" She added while she sat down on a stool to eat some chocolate. "I'm not that happy!" Lorelai said, handing Rory a paper bag. Victoria saw the plaid skirt and instantly smiled, "chilton." She thought in her head. "You're going to Chilton!" Skokie blurted out. "You weren't with the principal, did you?" Rory asked, oh so gullible. "No, honey, that was a joke. You're starting on Monday!" Lorelai said as she hugged Rory. "I have to call Lane! I got into Chilton Victoria!" she said as she hugged her twin sister, "Congrats! Of course, you got in!" Victoria said. Rory went back to hug Lorelai, "I love you!". Rory ran off to call Lane and Victoria continued to eat chocolate, "Are you sure you didn't want to go?" Lorelai asked her youngest. Victoria laughed, "Positive, like that pregnancy test you took nearly 16 years ago." Victoria winked and laughed. Lorelai scoffed and ruffled her hair, "I'll see you at home mom. I love you." Victoria began to walk away, and Lorelai caught her arm, "Hey, I love you and I'm still very much proud of you." Victoria smiled. "I know," she replied.
The next day was a blur for Victoria, she had been up all night, practicing her software developing skills. She ultimately wanted to design her own software that would allow her to command her computer without having to open up a PowerShell Command Center or a console center. Even while at school, she was writing code down, random ideas, and plans for her current build. At the end of the school day, Victoria saw Rory cleaning out her locker and speaking to the new boy, Dean. Rory had never been interested in the male species, so much so, she thought Rory could be gay. Victoria was surprised. She left her sister to talk to her mystery man and ran to the diner to start her evening shift. When Victoria saw Luke, a certain calmness took over her body. She would always smile. Luke was the father she never had. Of course, she has a dad. Chris. But, Victoria was never too fond of the flake of a father she has. She knew what kind of man he was and how incredibly toxic he was. She knew her mother was made of butter when it came to him, but she got it. Her mom was a woman with needs and she couldn't deny her mother of that. "How was school today? Did you actually pay attention?" Luke said as he tossed the apron over. Victoria laughed, "I know a lot Luke, that place doesn't teach me much." she said. "You should be going to Chilton, just sayin," he said matter of factly. "Eh, don't think so. Not a part of my plan." Victoria said. When it came to Victoria Luke knew when to stopped talking. He knew she had a good head on her shoulders. He knew she had plans, but no one knew about her plans. Not even Lorelai.
After her shift she went home and saw Sookie and her mom talking out on the porch. She smiled, "hey working girl!" Sookie said. "Hi! What's going on?" she asked. "Just hemming your sister's skirt, drinking wine." Lorelai said quickly. Victoria nodded and knew it was a queue to go, "I gotta go take a shower. I'll leave you guys to it." she chuckled. She walked over to Lorelai and gave her a quick peck on the cheek. "She knows how to read a situation, not Rory." Sookie said. Lorelai laughed because she knew if Rory was the one who found them, she would insist on discussing the real topic of the conversation. Victoria settled into her room, feelin the breeze that came through the window, but also hearing what her mother's best friend was saying, "You can take my car!" Sookie said, "No one wants your car." Lorelai said shutting her down. "You know, you might consider calling your-" Sookie began but Lorelai immediately shut her down. Victoria knew who Sookie was referring to. Her wealthy grandparents, whom she would actually visit, when stopping at the radioshack in Hartford for parts. She never told her mom about these clandestine meetings because she knew Lorelai GIlmore would freak. Victoria Gilmore having a good relationship with her grandparents would be the equivalence of her sneaking out joining a drug ring. Victoria knew that going to Chilton was expensive and she questioned how in the world her mother would afford to send Rory. Let alone twin girls.
Victoria just got off her evening shift at the dinner and sat with her mother and sister at an unusually quiet dinner. Until Lorelai spoke up, "I forgot to tell you guys, were having dinner with your grandparents tomorrow night." Victoria lit up a little, "Really?" she asked and Lorelai smiled while Rory was not too thrilled. She was confused. Rory was as separated from her grandparents as Lorelai was. "Its september? What holiday is in september?" she asked. "It's just dinner." Lorelai said matching Rory's attitude. "I think it'll be nice." Victoria said. Lorelai reached out to touch Victoria's chin. "Red Meat can kill you." Luke said as he sat down Lorelai and Rory's burgers. Lorelai looked at Victoria, "Oh, I ate already. Grilled chicken with steamed asparagus." she said smiling. Lorelai furrowed her eyebrows at Luke, "You have corrupted her quite enough." she said. Victoria laughed. "Hey at least I can save one of you." he said while walking away. "I missed hemming your skirt today." Lorelai said. Victoria was expecting a swift reply from her sister. However, Rory looked unamused. Victoria kicked her under the table. Rory gave her sister a look that could kill. "Yeah, a grunt of acknowledgement would be nice" Lorelai said. "Look, I don't know why we're going to dinner tomorrow night, what if I had plans? You didn't even ask me?" Rory said with an attitude as sharp as a knife. Victoria choked on her iced tea and tuned out the entire argument because it didn't concern her. She was snapped out of her day dream when her mother smacked a few dollar bills on the table. She saw her mother and sister storm out of the diner. VIctoria was confused as Luke was and they shared a look. "That's why you don't drink coffee." he said. Victoria smiled, cleaned up after her family and took the burgers home. She walked into her home to find her mother sitting on the couch listening to Macy Gray's "I try". Lorelai turned to face her youngest, " I brought the burgers home, in case you guys got hungry later." Victoria said while sitting down next to her mother. Lorelai gave Victoria a knowing look, "What do you know?" Victoria asked her mother while tilting her head. "Your sister has a male friend, a male friend she helped get a job at Taylor's, and who is "very handsome." Lorelai responded while using air quotes, Victoria nods, "ah, he comes to light." Victoria says. "Well?" Lorelai asks, expecting her youngest to fill in the blanks. "I believe its the new kid in town, just started, moved from Chicago, I saw them talking by her locker one day. But that's all I know really. Sorry. Also, I don't think I've ever witnessed miss Rory give you attitude before. It was very strange." Victoria said. Lorelai sighed, "No, thanks hun. It'll do." as she rubbed Victoria's back. "Are you actually excited to see your grandparents?" she asked her daughter. Victoria smiled, "Yeah, actually. I have seen them.. When I'm in Hartford picking up parts at the RadioShack. I'm sorry I never told you. I just know it is difficult for you. You already have so much on your plate." victoria admitted. Lorelai looked at her daughter, she was sad that Victoria had felt the need to hide her relationship from them. "Oh, honey. You don't have to hide the fact that you want to see them. I'm happy you go and see them." she said. Victoria sighed from relief. "It makes me happy to hear that from you, the guilt was making me sick." she laughed. Victoria got up, "She'll come around," pointing at Rory's door. "You two always make up." Lorelai closed her eyes, " I know sweets, good night. Please go to bed tonight!" she yelled as Victoria made her way up the stairs. "No promises!" she yelled back.
