Hi everyone! I am taking another break from my ongoing story "Kagome's Diary" (I can't believe it's almost finished!) to post another short but sweet InuKag one-shot.
This story takes place during one of my favorite episodes. It's episode 12 of The Final Act called "Sango's Feelings, Miroku's Resolve." While this is one of my favorite MirSan episodes (and I LOVE them as a couple too even though I never write about them), this story centers around one InuKag moment in the episode. I'm sure you all remember that part where Inuyasha got extremely drunk (if you haven't go watch the episode. It's SO funny!). This story here is what I imagine was going on with Inuyasha and Kagome while Miroku was having a serious conversation with the potion master.
I hope you like this story. Please leave a review.
Drunk In Love
"I ain't drunk, Kagome!" Inuyasha said as she pulled him out of a tub of alcohol.
Kagome just rolled her eyes. He was very drunk. This was the third time he had told her this since the Master of Potions had dumped him into that first tub of alcohol and he'd been getting steadily more intoxicated since then. "Yes, you are."
He cocked his head to the side and looked at her in confusion. "Why are there three of you now?"
Kagome sighed. With Sango inside one of the potion tubs fighting to get hiraikotsu fixed, Miroku having some kind of conversation with the Master of Potions, and Shippo off talking with Myoga, she was the one that was stuck babysitting drunk Inuyasha.
He sat up but was so dizzy that he quickly fell into her. Then he started to nuzzle her neck with his nose affectionately. "Out of all three Kagome's, this one's my favorite."
Kagome couldn't help but giggle a bit. Even though he was drunk, he was still very sweet. "Inuyasha, you need to lie down."
"I don't wannaaaa," he said as he continued to hug her. "I love you, Kagome."
"What?!" she exclaimed. Out of all the things he could have said, she never would have expected him to say that.
He put his forehead to hers and looked into her eyes. "I've always loved you."
Kagome stared at him for a moment in shock. Her heart was pounding and she didn't quite know what to say. She had loved Inuyasha for so long and all of this time she wanted him to tell her that he loved her back. It was like a dream come true to hear these words from him.
But her excitement disappeared as quickly as it had started. Inuyasha was drunk and probably had no idea what he was talking about. She quickly pushed him away and turned her head to hide how much she was blushing. "Inuyasha, you're drunk. You don't know what you're saying."
"Of course I do, Kagome," he said in a slurred voice. He lifted her chin to look at him again. "You're my girlfriend and I'll always love you and protect you."
Kagome was blushing even more if it were possible. She'd always thought of herself as his girlfriend but they had never made it official or anything. Could it be that she was wrong and that he meant what he was saying? Could it be possible that he really returned her feelings? "Inuyasha…"
"Give me a kiss, sweetheart," he said as he leaned towards her.
As much as she wanted to kiss him, and she desperately wanted to kiss him, she knew that this wasn't right. He wasn't going to remember any of this. If anything, he would even regret kissing her. So she pushed him away again. "Inuyasha, please stop."
"Kagomeee, don't you love me too?" He suddenly looked sad and his ears started to droop.
Of course, she loved him. She had loved him for so long and she wanted to tell him everything she felt for him and let him know just how much she longed to be his. Yet, she still hesitated, fearing that in his drunken state he didn't really mean what he was saying. "Inuyasha, I…"
"I knew it." He turned away from her and crossed his arms. "It's that damn wolf...he really has taken your heart away from me."
"No he hasn't!" she said quickly. "I never had feelings for Koga, you know that."
At that, he seemed to relax a bit and a smile spread across his face. "Good, because I love you more than anything." He held her hand and looked into her eyes again. "Tell me you love me too, Kagome."
As she looked into his gold eyes, she felt so much love for him as she always did. The look in his eyes held so much devotion. It felt like he was looking into the depths of her soul. Maybe he really did love her and this was the only way his inhibitions had come down enough to say it out loud to her. He likely wouldn't remember any of this, but that was okay. Regardless of what he really felt, she needed him to know.
"I love you, Inuyasha," she said sincerely. "I will always love you."
