So a while ago I was looking at some old RinLen fanfics and came across this one from like early 2012. It had an interesting premise, but the execution was just terrible and I do believe that a younger teenager wrote it, so naturally it's going to have some you know weird parts in there. I really like the idea they had, so I decided to rewrite it. I removed all the rape scenes and decided to take a darker tone than the original. It is still M rated because of said darkness and gruesomeness of the story. So be warned, mentions of blood, injuries, and there is character death in here (Kinda, it is a dream fic so the death isn't real).
You can still find the original fic on here and I was deciding if I should post this. I did try to contact the original author to get permission to post the rewrite, but it seems that they haven't been on in a while and I likely won't be hearing from them ever. If the original author does ask me to take it down, I will (please do not speak on the original author's behalf about taking it down). I do ask you not to harass the original author about their original story. It was posted about 9 years ago and people do grow and change a lot during that time.
So thank you and I hope you enjoy.
It was near midnight when Rin Kagamine finally closed her eyes and drifted into sleep. She is known, by her fiancée and various friends that she had sleepovers with, to have very vivid dreams, but for some reason tonight's dream was one to remember for the days to follow.
It was a beautiful sunny day. The sun warmed her skin and the sky was a wonderful blue that rivaled the clear blue waters of the Caribbean Sea. Rin was at the park, hanging out on the swing set. It was a breath of fresh air and she totally forgot her chore today. She opened her eyes and looked at the farmers market across the park. She finally remembered exactly what her task was. It was decided that while the farmer's market may be more expensive, her roommates may enjoy the locally grown fruit and vegetables than some massed produced, supermarket foods. While at the farmer's market, she grabbed a dozen eggs, a leek, a bottle of milk, and some oranges for herself.
As she was passing by, stopping at the various stalls, she came across some bananas. The bananas reminded her of her lover, Len. 'I wonder what Len is up to right now?' Rin thought to herself as she decided to pay for the bananas to use as a surprise gift for Len.
With her bags in her arms, Rin went home, full of glee. After walking a few blocks, the sky grew dark as clouds began to cover up the warm sun. It grew cold as well and Rin was unprepared for the sudden shift in the weather. She began to walk in a brisk pace, hoping to reach home before it started to rain.
A loud splat sound was heard behind her. It didn't sound like rain; it sounded far too heavy to be rain or even hail. Rin slowly turned her head towards the source of the sound. There was a limp body on the street. Though terrified, Rin's curiosity got to the best of her and she approached the body. She carefully tried not to step into the puddles of blood that were beginning to form around the person's body. A few seconds later, her grocery bags were dropped to the ground and the eggs and glass-bottled milk shattered. Not like it mattered to her; she knew who the body belonged to now. Rin fell to her knees and crawled her way over to her lover.
"Len..." she croaked out. Tears flowing out of her eyes. She turned him over to reveal his face to her. It was smashed up and beyond recognizable. "Len… why?" Her voiced wavered as she laid his head on her lap. Her pale yellow sundress became stained dark red with his blood. She began to stroke his hair and her vision became clouded with tears.
She cried over the body of her beloved for a few more minutes before she heard another loud splat; this one sounded much closer to her than the last. Once again, she turned her head and there was Len again. On the ground. Dead. She gently laid Len's head on the ground and began to crawl her way to this new Len. About halfway there, another person fell from the sky; this one almost landing on top of her. The one was also Len. Rin decided that she must've been warped to the "Final Destination" universe and decided to hightail it out of there before anything could happen to her.
She continue to run, skillfully dodging the Lens that fell from the sky. Her shoes were now dyed red from the blood and it began to feel as if she were running through syrup due to the stickiness of the blood. At some point of her frantic run, she bumped into someone. Her butt hit the ground and she looked up just to see who would be crazy enough to be out in this weather.
She immediately recognized his face "Len!" She shouted, relieved to see him alive. "I thought you died! Multiple times!" She wrapped her arms around his waist; her face buried into his chest. Despite her extreme shaking, she felt safe around him.
"Hi Rinny!" Len beamed a smile in her direction; completely oblivious to what she said or what was happening around them. Another Len fell from the ground. "We should probably get going before they start getting up." Her grabbed her hand and lead her into no particular direction.
"Wait… What do you mean 'before they start getting up'?" She questioned him, as he was casually strolling along.
"Well… you know. When they get up." He pointed to a Len on the ground.
Rin watched as the Len sat up. His face was bashed in from the fall. As if some witchcraft, dark magic was at play, the Len's face warped and twisted back into it's proper form. Rin could only watch in horror as that Len screamed in agony as his limbs mended themselves back together. The Len breathing was labored and his chest heaved from this intense pain he was in. Their eyes met and her blood ran cold. The Len stood, wobbling at the first step, then suddenly began to run at near inhuman speeds towards them. "Let's get going." Len yanked her arm and they began to run.
As they ran, the other Lens began to awaken and chase them. Soon an army of blonde haired clones were after them. They must've ran at least a mile or two and Rin began to feel the strain on her heart and lungs.
"Len, I can't go much further!" She panted and could've sworn that her throat was swollen.
"Just a bit further, look." He pointed at a building, in a sea of buildings.
They busted through the door and immediately barricaded the doors and windows with couches and bookshelves. The Lens caught up and began to pound on the walls and door.
"We'll be fine for a bit; the walls are made of steel." Len popped the buttons off his shirt and laid on the mattress that was on the floor.
Rin got a good look of her surroundings. The floors were bare, as in it was basically a dirt ground with some wood patches. The wallpaper was ripped and faded due to age. Trash littered the floor and there was a distinct smell of mold in the air. "So," She sat next to him. "How do you know about this place?"
"I come here to smoke crack."
"Be serious." She smacked him, trying to hold back a laugh.
He laughed, "I just come here with Piko and 'Kase to break shit."
"And you don't invite me? I want to break stuff too?" She complained, feeling left out.
"Sorry, guys only. We don't want any dumb girls around." He shrugged.
It was quiet, except for the sound of metal being hit with fists and wails from the Lens. Minutes passed. Len stroked Rin's arm and shoulder with his pointer finger. While it sent a pleasurable shiver down Rin's spine, she still shot him a look. "Now isn't the time Len."
He smirked at her, with his eyes full of lust. "You know" He started "… I always fantasized about this. You know. The two of us in a dangerous situation like this; it turns me on."
"Hey stupid," She flicked his forehead, "Exactly. We're in a dangerous situation. There's no time for hanky panky; we need to get out of here."
"Mmmmm, nah. I want you instead." Her began to kiss her. His tongue ran down her neck and he nibbled on her collarbone. She fought back a moan and managed to get him off of her for a second.
"Damn you Len, no. Stop." She tried to protest, but he just pinned her to the mattress.
"I love you Rin; I really do." He spoke in a hushed manner, his thumb stroking her bottom lip. "I want you; to please you." His words were smooth as molasses. Normally, Rin would have been turned on and eager to get it on as well, but this behavior was very inappropriate for the situation they were in.
His hand groped at her clothed breast and that is when Rin had enough. "I said No!" She yelled at him, pushing him away. "Stop it! You're never like this!"
He realized what he had done and tried to comfort her. "I didn't mean to-" He went to touch her shoulders and she screamed.
Her scream caused the Lens outside to become infuriated. The door were quickly ripped off its hinges and the Lens began to pour into the room. A small army of Lens marched towards Len and Len managed to push Rin away from the mob. The Lens began to drag Len away from Rin into the center of the group.
"Len!" Rin tried to push past the wall of Lens to try to save him, but one Len just pushed her away.
She heard the Lens chant as Len was being pummeled to the ground. Shouts of "Get Him!", "How dare he hurt my Rin!" "Kill him!", and other various hateful things came from the Lens' mouths. Len cried out in tremendous pain. His cried only fueled the Lens even more and made the beatings even worse.
"Please don't hurt him!" Rin cried out as she could barely see Len getting his ass beat. Even if she did see the fight, she would've instinctively covered her eyes anyway.
Soon, the Lens grew bored and began to disperse. Some completely left the building, some blew kisses and sent winks in Rin's direction, and the others just chilled out on the floor. The Len that guided her was now a bloody mess in the middle of the room.
She skipped over to him and knelled before him. His hand was in hers and she brought it to her lips. There was a faint pulse coming from his wrist and she looked at the Len in his eyes.
"I'm sorry," He wheezed out, as his lungs were punctured.
"No, don't be." She used her free hand, slowly stroking his hair. She knew he didn't have much time left. He tried to shake his head; his mouth opened, about to disagree with her. Rin softly hushed him, in efforts to keep him from being in more pain. She tried to fight back the tears in order to keep him calm. His lips puckered, as if he was asking for one last kiss. She obliged, tasting the iron on his lips. Their hands were clasp together as she was trying anything to keep him comfortable as possible in his final moments. His eyes were beginning to turn glassy and she forced herself to smile until she felt him go limp.
Rin was beyond devastated. She didn't know how many times she had to watch her lover die in the span of two hours; she wasn't sure if she could take these gruesome deaths anymore. She laid her head down on his stomach and began to sob loudly.
The Lens watching her, didn't take too kindly to her actions. One stood up and walked his way over to her with a few following in his footsteps.
"Hey! What about me?" Len asked with the others making similar remarks. Rin didn't hear him, nor noticed him and a couple other of Lens walking towards her. "Hey bow baby," The Len put his hand on her shoulder and yanked her to face him. "Maybe you didn't hear me, but I don't like how you're giving all your attention to him." He sneered at the dead body. He took noticed of her bloodshot eyes and tear-stained face, "Hey now," He stroked her hair. "Forget about him, he is nothing compared to me."
"Yeah! And me!" One Len agreed, which earned him a smack from Len.
Rin was at a lost for words. Len did sometimes get jealous, as any human would, but whoever this Len was took his jealously to the max. The Len ran his thumb on her bottom lips, licking his own. "Forget about him baby, he got what was coming to him." He pecked her on the lips; his lips felt cold to her.
"What the fuck!" The Len behind him became angered and punched Len square in the face. Len retaliated and threw a punch back at Len. A fight ensued with the third Len jumping in. The others Len in the room stopped what they were doing and formed a ring around the fight, cheering it on.
Rin watched in disbelief in what was happening. Something deep inside her told her that she needed to get out of there and she listened to that voice without question.
Once outside, she took a breath of fresh air. The peace was short-lived though as she opened her eyes and saw the army of Lens standing before her.
"Hey! It's Rin!" One Len cheerfully exclaimed and a few others began to wildly clap, whoop, and cheer, as if she just gave a standing ovation. Rin just stood there, confused. What did she do to deserve this thunderous applause? The group approached her, still applauding. "You are so great." The Len smiled at her, very proud for her… for some reason. The door the she was leaning on opened, causing her to almost fall over.
"Hey rabbit ears!" The abrasive, jealous Len, now defaced with a black eye, caught her. He wrapped his arms around her, preventing her from escaping. "You're mine now." He kissed her forehead.
The most cheerful army ever still kept approaching her. She wanted to escape from this madness and go hide in a basement or under her blankets at home. Even somewhere far away such as a beach or a winery in the countryside would be a perfect place to hide from this madness, but escaping was only a dream. The happy troopers were within arms reach of her. She screamed and kicked the Len that was holding her, which freed her.
She stumbled onto the ground and crawled her way through the crowd. It must've been a stroke of luck as she could now see the end of Lens' legs. Well, everything seemed lucky, until one Len tripped over his own shoelaces. This trip caused a chain reaction of other Lens falling over like dominoes. The domino effect reached to Rin and a pile of Lens fell on top of her. The weight crushed her and she felt her bones break. Her legs and arms were shattered and she knew that she was going to have the same fate as the Len who died in her arms, as her ribs punctured her lungs and heart.
She laid there in excruciating pain as the Lens slowly got back on their feet, giving her relief from the weight. They took noticed of her lying there and immediately panicked. Some ran to grab ice, bandages, pillows, and whatever to try to save her, some kept panicking, and two sat by her side, holding her hand.
"You're going to be fine." One Len reassured her, but she knew the truth. The other Len tried to give her some water, but it was far too painful for her to drink. The water was now being used to clean off any blood and dirt that was on her face.
Like sand slipping through her fingers, she felt her time running out. Her vision was fading in and out and her breathing slowed. She could barely feel the hand that was stroking her hair. There was an inner warmth that flowed through her body. This comforted her and helped subdue the pain. She could feel her last moments as everything blurred into a white light.
Rin nearly leaped out of bed and onto the floor. It took some time for her to be adjusted to her surroundings and to realize that she was indeed awake. Her headed turned to the right and she watched Len as he slept. While still a bit upset by her nightmare, she flicked his ear. "You can be such an ass sometimes." She commented, not controlling her voice at all.
Len made a sound that sounded somewhere between a 'what' and a 'huh'. He quickly went back to sleep, thinking that he must've farted, stole the blankets, or something that was minuscule. Before going completely back into his deep sleep he mumbled out a 'I love you' which sounded more like "Ibuvvu."
She studied him for a second. Her Len was the best Len; his good and bad qualities is what made him special from the dream Lens and she wouldn't want him any other way. A smile played on her lips as she kissed his ear, then proceeded to snuggle up to him.
Her dreams for the rest of the night were pleasant.
