Just and idea I had, doesn't really have a concrete plot yet, I have planned out a few chapters but beyond that, I don't know. Fair warning I haven't proof read this, just wanted to get it out there to try and motivate me to write more.

The sunrise illuminated his cave, to the average person it would be a once in a life time sight, the kind people would travel the world just to catch a glimpse of… but to him, it was the same old thing he saw every morning. He had seen it so much the only notable part about it was how it warmed his scales. He didn't count how many times the sun had rise over him for he did not care, he would never die, he is immortal and also the strongest being the world has ever seen, The One Eyed Black Dragon.

Oh how he hated that nickname. It made him sound so unapproachable, so evil, and while he had done some evil things in his life, they were never done out of malice. They were done because, as is the problem with being immortal, he was extremely bored. Burning down towns, razing kingdoms, fighting humanity's champions, anything he could find to alleviate his boredom.

There was only one thing he had ever done which he regretted, and that was killing Albert, the mercenary king. Not for any moral reasons or he felt bad for the guy, and not even because he lost an eye, in fact, the fight was the most fun he had in ages. No, he regretted killing him because of his wife, Aria. She had placed a spell on him, so as long as she stayed in his cave, he would also be trapped in there with her. The spell also had the unhappy side effect of making the person under the spell unable to kill the caster. It was meant to be a spell that humans would use as a last resort to stall for time, but because this woman was a spirit, and therefore immortal, he was trapped until he could find a way to break the spell.

And it was in this cave that he spent the next however many years he had, again, he didn't trifle himself with silly things like counting days, it would be a waste, and he had better things to do. He still needed to eat, for even calamities like him needed to eat. The only problem was, no creature would come near his cave (side of a mountain), as they could sense his overwhelming power coming from it. Maybe this was all part of Aria's plan, but he wouldn't let a mere spirit end his life, for one doesn't become the strongest without a little bit of hardship. The first few years were hungry, but he spent his time controlling how much of his power seeped out, and eventually, was able to control it to the point where he could lure prey in with the promise of a free kill.

His life wasn't exactly good, but it wasn't a bad one. His daily routine consisted of sleep, eat, sleep, eat, sleep, eat, sleep, eat… He wanted to die. The only thing that could even be considered note worthy, was when some upstart humans challenged him. They were dealt with quickly. He didn't understand how Aria could do it, why hadn't she given in yet, why hadn't she released the spell yet, why didn't she do anything but sit in his cave and give him a glare that would kill any normal human, he didn't understand anything about her.

So imagine his shock when, in his ever boring life, something interesting happened. He found a baby boy, no mother or anyone around for that matter, at the entrance of his cave. He honestly didn't know how to react or what to do. All he could do was stare at it. In the end he decided to leave it to die… until a certain smell reached his nose

'wait a second here… no way no way no way no way. HOW IS HE ONE OF US!'

All he, the king of monsters could think when he smell this child

'CALM DOWN CALM DOWN. The only ones of us left are my and my siblings, and we have little to no contact, so how has he, new and young one, been born'

In his shock, he forgot how the baby itself would react to a giant lizard looking at him with its singular giant eye, and so it started to cry. He, once again, didn't know what to do, he had always been one of the youngest in his tribe, his sister being the only one younger than him. But he knew that staying as a giant dragon would do him no good in his quest to calm this child down.

'Let's see if I can still do this right, staying in dragon form for this long may have been a bad idea.'

As he looked within, he found what he was looking for. It was his power, he felt it flowing through him, entirely unrestricted and free, just as a raging river should be. However, for the first time in centuries, he was willingly restricting it. Putting metaphorical dams in all his pressure points, joints, and the connections of his limbs to his torso, and even more surprisingly, Aria was left completely shocked.

After a massive bellow of steam and smoke, what she saw before her shocked her. It was a tall man with quite a muscular build, short black hair that complemented his black eye, and most noticeably, a long ugly scar along one of his eyes. The second thing she noticed was a distinct lack of clothes on the man, however, Aria was too old for things like embarrassment, there was only one thought racing through her head as she looked at the sight in front of her.

'What the hell is that, I just saw that one eyed bastard in front of me, and now I see a man with one… eye… don't tell me. HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE.'

"Listen Aria, I know this is the first time I have ever talked to you, but could you try and scrap together some monster fabric, without my scales the wind it getting to me and I am getting quite cold. While you at it, could you grab some extra pelt to make bedding for the little on in my arms. I can assume he would also be quite cold."

As the great wind spirit looked on at the sight in front of her, a few questions passed through her mind.

'The black dragon… a dungeon monster… can talk. As well as that he asked ME to get him something, and he has a baby in his arms.'

The baby itself had white hair and red eyes, although it was quite hard to see his hair atop his head being how there wasn't much of it and how pale he was.

"Also, Aria, since we are on speaking terms, I guess I should tell you my name, it's Noir"

'Lets see, the typical way of naming children of the dragon race would be naming them after the color of their hair, but I did always hate that tradition, and all of the elders are dead… so I guess I can name him whatever I want.'

Many ideas passed through his head, some of them good, some of them not so much, but he kept coming back to the same thought.

'I heard that in human towns, a great bell would always signal the start of a new day, and seeing how this child could be the new hope for the dragon race…'

"Child, listen well. Your name shall hence forth be Bell. My name is Noir and I also happen to be your father, treat me with respect and I shall do the same to you, whelp. Welcome to the world, my son, Bell."

How was it, I like to think of this as a preview, so if you have any feedback or criticism I would love to hear it, maybe even help he guide this story in a direction. I didn't forget about Aria at the end there, you will see her reaction next chapter, until then.
