I hope you like this one. By the way, I've always wanted to write a fanfic to a prompt so if anyone knows where I can find prompts, or if anyone has any ideas, PM me. Enjoy:)
Hermione woke up feeling ready to start a relaxing weekend. She turned around in bed only to find the other side empty. The young woman frowned upon realizing she'd have to leave the warmth of the bed to find her girlfriend. An internal proceeded to take place then: she wanted to stay in bed but she also longed for a good morning kiss. She huffed when her usually quick brain turned out to be terribly indecisive in the worst of situations. Hermione's brash nature showed then, when she realized Teddy was spending the day with Harry: "Andromeda Black Tonks!" she shouted, trying to suppress the laughter that threatened to escape her when she heard her girlfriend's loud ascend up the stairs.
"What's happened?" Andromeda burst into the room, wand at the ready. Hermione couldn't hold back when she saw her standing there, panting slightly, her curls bouncing wildly due to her rapid breathing; she roared with laughter. Andromeda, unsurprisingly, wasn't amused in the least. She glared at Hermione while the young woman wheezed and struggled to breathe.
"It's nice to see you're not dying" she gritted out when Hermione's laughter finally subsided.
"I didn't get a good morning kiiiis" Hermione drawled out, pouting for effect; she giggled when Andromeda's scowl deepened.
"Keep it up and that won't be the only thing you're not getting. I almost broke my bloody legs to rush up here!" the older woman snapped. Hermione sobered up quickly.
"Sorry, love" she said sheepishly. "I had hoped to wake up next to you and relax before starting the day."
Andromeda's face softened when she heard that and she sheathed her wand.
"I made pancakes" she moved closer to the bed and sat down. Hermione smiled happily.
"Pancakes? Oh you're the best!"
"I know I am" Andy smirked as her girlfriend began to close the distance between them. "Tell Cissy too when you go get me that potion she agreed to brew for me" she stood up abruptly and watched Hermione blink in surprise at her sudden withdrawal. "You'll do that for me? I need to finish the pancakes anyways" she added, mirth dancing in her dark eyes. The younger woman narrowed her eyes.
"Of course, love" she said in a falsely sweet voice.
"Great" Andromeda clapped her hands. "I'll leave you to it then" she sauntered away, blowing her young girlfriend a kiss over her shoulder. Hermione groaned when the door closed again, and threw herself back against the mattress. She had known there would be a price for teasing Andy so she decided she might as well get on with it. At least she had sent her to Narcissa's and not to some other country; Hermione wouldn't put it past Andromeda.
When she got dressed she walked out of the bedroom and decided to use the fireplace in the office, just to piss Andy off (Andy hated it when she got soot on the carpet there). She had already grabbed a handful of Floo Powder and was preparing to go when she heard something on her left. Hermione dropped the Powder and pulled out her wand, slowly turning to face the sound. It was coming from one of the desk drawers. The brunette relaxed, knowing it was probably a Boggart. She turned to face the fireplace again and called out while taking another handful of Floo Powder: "Andy, love, there seems to be a Boggart in the desk in the office!"
"Afraid of the little Boggart, love?" Andromeda called back from downstairs.
"Just in a hurry to go to Cissy's."
"Of course you are-wait did you say the office? Hermione Jean Granger, you better not-"
Hermione didn't hear the rest: she quickly jumped in, making sure she kicked enough soot on the carpet, and Flooed away. She landed in the fireplace of Narcissa's new house in London. Jumping out quickly, she heard a gasp. She looked up and raised her eyebrows at Narcissa. The blonde woman answered her with raised eyebrow of her own, managing to look quite a lot more intimidating.
"It's polite to notify people ahead of barging in through their fireplaces, Miss Granger."
"Well, it's not like I'm unannounced, you were just waiting for Andromeda instead" Hermione smiled nervously. Narcissa Malfoy still scared her. The older woman pierced her with her blue eyes.
"It's nice to see I haven't lost my touch. And it's Black" Narcissa said silkily.
"Hey!" Hermione squeaked. "I thought you agreed to stay out of my head after last time."
"You didn't seem to be thinking of my sister this time" the other woman smirked. "Otherwise, don't worry – I really have no wish to see what you two get up to in your free time...again."
Hermione blushed.
"Now, why would I be waiting for Andromeda – or anyone for that matter – on a Saturday morning?" the raised eyebrow was back.
"Well for that potion she asked you to brew for her, or something" Hermione replied, more unfazed this time. Narcissa, however, seemed confused.
"Potion? What potion?" she asked.
"The one she...asked you to brew?" Hermione answered uncertainly.
"Did you hit your head somewhere, dear?" Cissy sounded caring but Hermione saw mirth dancing in her eyes.
"Ughh!" the younger woman growled out. "You two are impossible!"
"Not my fault my sister sent you on a fool's errand."
"Well, I suppose that was me, yes. But you're enjoying it too much" Hermione smiled.
"A cup of tea, since you're already here?" the blonde suggested smoothly.
"No, thank you, but I better head back. Let's say I expected this and paid your sister back in kind."
"Payback for payback?"
"...It's complicated."
"Oh, it always is" Cissy laughed. "You might want to Apparate this time, and proceed into the house with caution."
"Thanks for the idea. You want to come? I could use the support right now" Hermione tried.
"Oh no, thank you. I don't recall being on the receiving end of my sister's Stinging Hexes ever being pleasant to me. But good luck" the blonde witch added with a smile.
"Thank you" Hermione grumbled.
"I'll walk you out."
The two of them walked through the house to the door and made their way out of the wards.
"Well I usually Apparate right inside but you can use those dumpsters over there for cover" Narcissa smirked.
"You are an evil woman, Narcissa Black" Hermione scrunched up her nose.
"Hm, tell me something I don't know" the other woman retorted.
"You are a big softie, too" Hermione threw over her shoulder as she walked away.
"Now you better get out of here quick, young lady."
"I'll miss you too, Cissy" the younger witch called, disappearing behind the dumpsters and Disapparating a moment later. She landed just beyond their wards, in case Andromeda was in the garden. She saw that the yard was empty, however, and walked towards the front door.
"Andy?" she opened the door but didn't walk in. "You in here, love?"
No answer. Well, Andromeda was sneaky. Hermione took a deep breath and walked inside, closing the door behind herself. She looked around, trying to decide on a good strategic position for a duel. Making up her mind, she started to make her way towards the kitchen when suddenly she heard something upstairs. She stopped and faced the stairs. There it was again; it sounded like mewling to Hermione but that made no sense – Crookshanks had long since stopped doing that, he was getting quieter with age. The brunette wracked her brain: Teddy wasn't here, but then why on earth would Andromeda make such a sound. Then she heard it again but this time it sounded like whimpering. All of a sudden everything clicked into place: the whimpers, the lack of an answer, the quiet house. Hermione remembered the Boggart and rushed up the stairs as fast as she could, drawing out her wand. She ran towards the office and stopped dead in the doorway. Andromeda was sitting on the floor, her wand next to her, probably dropped since her hands were shaking. Her back was turned to Hermione but the younger witch could picture her expression because she was looking straight up at the towering form of her older sister, Bellatrix.
"You deserved what you got" Boggart-Bellatrix was saying. "After turning your back to your family, anything that came your way was deserved."
"N-no," Andromeda sobbed, "that's not t-true."
"Not true? NOT TRUE?!" screeched Boggart-Bellatrix. "Let's see what dear Cissy has to say about that. She was heartbroken after you left, you know" the Shapeshifter said before turning with a crack into a younger version of Narcissa that was looking at Andromeda with teary eyes.
"Why did you leave us, Andy? Why did you leave me?" Boggart-Narcissa spoke with a trembling voice. "Bella was gone to do what she had to and you left me all alone. ALONE! I HATE YOU!" she screamed before cracking and turning into Bellatrix again.
"So what did she say? Did she tell you how she cried herself to sleep for months after you left to be with your 'true love'?" Boggart-Bellatrix taunted. By now Andromeda was shaking with sobs on the ground and Hermione broke away from the trance the Boggart had caught her in, too. She rushed forward and stood between Andy and the Boggart; that confused the creature and for a second Hermione was staring into the mad eyes of Bellatrix Lestrange once more; then she realized it was not going to change when a dagger appeared out of nowhere in Boggart-Bellatrix's hand. The young woman banished it before it had a chance to speak. She breathed a sigh of relief, not sure she would have had strength to fight off her own worst fear, too. Then she turned around and dropped her wand, kneeling down to pull Andromeda into her arms. She could feel the older woman's body convulsing with quiet sobs, and tears sprang to her eyes too.
"It's okay, love" Hermione whispered soothingly, kissing her head. "That was just a Boggart. What it sid wasn't true. It wasn't and you know it."
She saw Andromeda shake her head and cursed internally. It was a long road to recovering Andy's relationship with her little sister, even though Hermione constantly reminded both of them that the other was just as scared of rejection.
"Cissy has the right to hate me" came the hoarse voice from somewhere under all the curls. Hermione sighed.
"She doesn't hate you. She could never hate you, Andy, the bond you shared was too strong. Narcissa doesn't hate you, and neither did Bellatrix."
Upon hearing her older sister's name, Andromeda looked up with a gasp.
"You-"
"That's not about me, it's about you" Hermione said earnestly, going in for a kiss and pressing their foreheads together. "I love you."
"I love you too."
"Good. Let's go eat those delicious pancakes of yours, then we can go see Cissy. She was highly amused when she heard why I was there unannounced on a Saturday morning."
Andy giggled.
"Whoops."
"You are impossible."
"That's what you get for messing around with a Black."
"Oh please. Trick me like this one more time and you'll see why you shouldn't mess with a Granger."
"I did" Andromeda disentangled herself from her girlfriend and stood up.
"What?"
"There are no pancakes." The older woman waited for another beat before sprinting out of the room.
"ANDROMEDA BLACK TONKS, YOU COME BACK HERE THIS INSTANT!"
