So, Hi I'm Hakase. I like Touhou Project series. To be honest, didn't get into the series until late 2019 when I bought Touhou Luna nights on steam and then I got roped into the series. I watched played the games, I read the manga and fan doujinshis, Listen to the both original and fan made music, I completely fell in love with the series and even still I don't feel like I scratched half of what this franchise is.
The Touhou fanbase is all about making something and I wanted to take a stab at making something for the series. But what can I possibly make? I then turn to fanfiction. I read a lot of fanfiction specifically on OCs. I find Original characters made by the author interesting as I like to thing of the possibilities on what this brand new character can do. I like "I am vampire" by NazoDi its adult take on its premise. I like "The Dollmaker's Daughter" by UnmovingGreatLibrary with its wholesome Oc. I like "Chords of paradise" with its interesting character premise.
I want to make an Oc Character that stand next to these good ones. But I want to make it original. Where do i set it? Every fanfic I read is already took a spot. from Reimu shrine to the Moriya and the human settlement. But one place that hasn't been touched.
So, I present. My first Oc Fanfic. " Life in former Hell"
Disclaimer: I don't own anything except for the OCs and I try to be accurate as possible to the world and its characters. But I'm not a professional writer, just a fan making fan content. So anything spelling or gramma related is highly possible.
Fanfic Name: Life in former hell.
Chapter 1: Awaken
Darkness. Pure darkness.
Where am I? Everywhere I look is just pitch black. I tried to speak; A small whine came out instead...it sounded...canine? Weird. I tried to move a bit further, I moved my left hand over to my side only to be stopped by a wall. The wall feels weak, I check my right and another wall greets me. I was clearly stuck.
I tried to remember what happened before this, but all my memories are foggy. My name is...Michael? No. John? No... I try to recall more.
I am an average teenager and... nothing. Try as I might, nothing else is coming to me.
Nothing in my memories would explain why I am here. A kidnapping maybe?
This is too confusing, and waiting didn't seem like it was going to help. I needed answers.
I attempted to escape by pushing the wall in front of me in the hope that I would break through. Pushing the wall, using my weight against it and I continued to push the wall seemed to move further. Light broke from the wall as it flipped open and soon, I was airborne and fell.
I landed on my back as the pain spreads to my body as I lay in a daze. I somehow managed to tilt it over and with me in it. I stay there pleading the pain will subside as my ears catch onto something. A lot of human-like sounds, sounds like laughing and talking. I cracked my eyes open, almost blinding myself to the sudden light. I finally looked at my surroundings. It was an alley and what I came out of is a cardboard box. The alley is pitch black and several barrels and boxes lined with two walls. Why did everything seem huge? My thoughts were interrupted by more noise, and I looked over. The light beckoned me to come over. I stumbled over to the bright street. Once I reached the edge of the alley's darkness, I looked over the busy street.
It looked like a market street is donned with eastern lanterns hanging along the walls and in between set poles, it was giving the place a warm orange hue, the sky is black with a sprinkle of white shining dotes. The loud laughter disturbed my train of thought and saw what filled the place. It was packed with people. Some were chatting with each other, Some lined up to the venders stocked up with food, off to the side were people sitting on a checked picnic blanket and seemed to be drinking. The people are dressed in Japanese clothing with unique designs to a traditional yukata. But what stands out more is that they are on top of their heads are... horns? Horns to a varying degree. Some have two regular horns on their forehead, some have only had one, but it is exceptionally long, some do not have horns but have a distinctive red tone of skin. My brain nearly explodes at what I am seeing.
A convention? My brain tries to rationalize what I am seeing. But something tells me that those horns or the clothes are not for show. A minute passed by, and deciding on what to do, I decided to step forwards. What can I achieve by turning tail and going back? Nothing. I need answers to my questions. Where am I? Why can't I remember my past? And why is everything so huge?... I sighed; I can't just sit here. I got to move forward.
I walked to one of the humans with horns, a girl, she was wearing a basic yukata, but it was bright orange, she was sitting down on a picnic blanket and chatting with two other non-humans. She seemed a tad young. her two red horns were attached to her forehead. They did not seem to mind me walking up to them or even acknowledged me. I sat down, but still didn't seem to care. I open my mouth to speak to see if I can get them to speak to me, but only a small bark came out instead. Pausing from my action, my head is still trying to wrap around the events as I flinched at the girl. She was now looking at me with a confused look, her face is a bit red. Then she smiled at me and spoke to me in very weird language.
It's clearly not English... Some sort of Asian language from what I am guessing. The girl smiled as I continued to stare at her. She then grabbed a nearby bottle to her left and poured its contents into a red saucer and placed it next to me.
I looked at her and looked back at the saucer. The smell of the liquid is a strong fruity aroma, some sort of flavoured water? but my eyes notice something strange. Staring back at me was not the face of a teenager I was expecting, but instead it was a black dog. Everything seemed to stop at that moment.
I am human, right? Not an animal. I am a human. Not a dog. I shook my head and closed my eyes. Thinking my eyes are playing tricks on me, I look back at my reflection on the clear liquid, but it has not changed. bright blue beady eyes stared back at me.
I refused to accept reality. I refused to accept what was happening. I sat frozen, still staring at the reflecting that is saying otherwise.
Human. I am a human. No doubt. This must be some sort of dream. A nightmare. I looked to the ground and two black paws greeted me. My sanity crumbled more.
I snapped to my back to further inspect myself. A low swishing tail that is clearly attached to my behind. No! No! No! I furiously shook my head as a jumble of thoughts and emotions crashed onto each other up to a point where I can't bottle it anymore.
I let out a big cry as my eyes started to water. But all I could produce was a whine which wasn't out of a place for a new-born puppy.
I flopped down on the sheet. What exactly happened to me? How did this happen? A human turned into a dog. Not Possible! Why a dog? Why m-
A hand softly strokes my back. The girl who gave me the fruity beverage was now rubbing my back from my neck down to my lower back. She said something in her language clearly trying to placate my whining. It didn't help. I lay there having a mental breakdown while a girl pets me like a puppy. Her cheery smile didn't help either.
I sighed; I couldn't deny it any longer. I was a dog. My memories were still failing to give a logical answer. I need to find out why I am like this. I need to find out what's happening to my memories, I need answers, I need a…. drink.
That mental battle made me thirsty, I moved, and the girl removed her hand but wasn't done. She placed her hand on my head and scrub her hand on it. I was not expecting that, but I was also not expecting how hard she did it. Seriously, she almost kneaded my skull in. I also didn't appreciate the gesture. Sure, she was trying to calm me down but all it did was remind me of what I became.
I signed as she let go of me, my focus was now on the drink laid before me. The girl left me to refocus on her drink. I didn't really know what to do. Lick it? My mind thinks of how dogs normally drink water. I shuddered at the thought of it, But there's no other alternative. I hovered my face over the red scarcer and leaned closer, the fruity smell became more potent. I stuck my tongue out and moved to contact the liquid.
What was in that drink?!
I made my way down the side of the street as I continued to spit out any of the girl's drink. That wasn't water. It was some alcoholic drink. Why would you give a dog an alcoholic beverage?! I ran away before the girl could give me more, I swear I'd heard some laughing when I left. Aside from the point, I drank something to satisfy my thirst.
The people seem to not mind my presence, either they just ignored me or did not really care. I certainly did not mind as I was more focused on what they are doing and my surroundings. I listened closely to what they were saying, it is a language that I am unfamiliar to. Alien even. Figures. Not only did I have to deal with my canine problem, but I must deal with a language barrier as well. What they are doing is quite easy. Some of them are chatting among themselves, buying from the venues or drinking. A lot of drinking.
I considered my surroundings to gauge where on earth I am. Clearly, I'm in an Eastern type of country with all the Asian style is plastered all over the place. Japan? But it begs the question of the people populating the place as horned people are not native or normal of what I've remembered. And their language seems like Japanese. But I cannot make assumptions. Not yet at least.
I stopped as my nose..Snout? Whatever. My nose smelled something remarkably familiar. Meat. I made my way around the corner and saw a lot of the horned people are feasting on a supply of cooked meat. Complete with a hog roast being rotated on a sizzling fire near the back. My mouth watered as a literal buffet is being present in front of me. My hunger is now the next problem. The only problem is the language barrier, how do I get these people to give me some of their food? Maybe I can use my appearance as an advantage? Make it seems like I'm begging for it... Like a dog? My thoughts soured more. I made my way over to one of the horned people and sat down next to him, his horns seem to be slightly longer compared to the others and wearing a black yukata and black hair, Mid-twenties? I can't seem to tell. Like the others, he seems to not notice me and continued to eat the meat bone he's holding and laugh with the rest that are doing the same.
Seizing the moment, I barked for a response but immediately winced after.
Luckily, it seems to do the trick as he turned to my side, He and I stared at each other, I was trying to make puppy eyes to sell it to him what I was conveying but it seems to just turn into a weird staring contest. After what feels like forever, I seem to have won as he turned and grabbed a nearby drum bone and placed it in front of me.
My excitement rose as I realized my plan worked somehow. Turned to him to give my gratitude.
"Thanks!" I said gleefully but it came out as a bark.
He didn't seem to mind and responded in his own words in a language that I didn't understand. But my guess is that he says you're welcome or something.
He turned to his friends and left me alone with my meal. I really didn't consider how big it was until now. It was the size of me. How am I supposed to eat this? But regardless, I don't know if it's my new form, but the smell was extraordinary. It seems it just came out of the grill; it even pops from the heat. I don't seem to have any cutlery or even have the means to hold on to cut this...meaning I had to use my mouth. I sighed as I took a giant bite but was taken aback by how soft it was. I was expecting some sort of toughness on how big it was, but it's seems to melt in my mouth. The juices from the meat helped with how soft it was. The taste alone was heaven itself. before, I even registered I took another bite and another and another...
Soon enough, only left is a large bone. Did I just really finish all of that? Guess I was hungrier than I had thought. I was led on my stomach for a moment... It gave me enough to look at the night sky properly, it looks like stars, but I didn't see any moon no matter how hard I looked. Strange.
Enough time has passed, that I didn't find it a hassle to move. I stood up and re-accessed my plan. I dealt with my food problem and now I need to find my answers to my questions. Being unable to talk or understand the horned humans' words is certainly going to be tricky. Mayb-
BOOM!
A sudden loud noise erupted behind me as I looked back to see it seemed to gather attraction to every else with the vicinity too as they began to bolt to the noise.
I had dived down and pushed my head down to avoid being trampled, my eyes shut. Millions of feet past me by. It was a blessing that I didn't get caught in that.
Opening my eyes to see, I realized that nearly all the people were gone. From the food venues and people who were partying disappeared. I looked in the direction where the noise came from and looked to be where everyone was. It's down the street from me and looks like a big crowd of people gathered and cheered at something. I got curious and made my way over there. A crowd of people is an understatement as it seems everyone is there. I navigate between their legs to get to see what they are all gawking at, when I finally reached the front, I looked around. It is a giant ring of horned people, all cheering on what they are looking at. I turned my attention to the middle and saw two people; a black-haired red skin guy who looked to be in his 30s and wearing a makeshift yukata with a black and grey color scheme and a brown-haired girl who looks the same age as him, but she is slightly shorter than him, her yukata is bright pink. It was plainly clear what was going to happen.
It was the girl who made the move and quickly charged the guy with a fist. She tried to make contact, but the guy moved his head out of the way for her arm to pass by. He took the opening and grabbed her arm tight and turned around while putting all his weight to toss her behind him, he slammed his left foot on the ground that cracked on the impact. With enough force, he let go of her arm as she flies a few feet away from him and to the side of the ring but quickly rotated herself to land on her feet easily leaving a giant skid mark. Everything out of the situation seems to be they are trying to kill each other but both of their faces were showing a playful smirk. The crowd cheered on the fight as everyone seemed increasingly amped up by the show. What is happening? My brain is working overtime to process everything.
The girl, with an overconfident demeanour, holds her hand towards the guy and positions her backhand towards him and moves her fingers up and down. She was mocking him. The message seems to the guy as he bolts over to her at a speed so quickly that my eyes could not even see. He gave her a series of punches of jabs, Uppercuts, and crosses. Meanwhile the girl seems to be taking the series of punches well as dodges them with ease. Her smirk is not wavering at the slightest. The guy, on the other hand, doesn't seem to like that his efforts are being easily dodged as he stops his relentless punches and brings his leg up to his body, his foot directly up the sky as he rockets down his foot onto to the girl. She dodges out of the way, leaving her foot to meet the ground, the impact completely shatters the ground as shards of it. The girl jumps and she-
She's flying!
The girl is now defying the laws of gravity and now hovers over the guy. My thoughts raced around but one thing is for certain. this place clearly not earth. But to my surprise, the crowd seems to only cheer as if this is a normal occurrence. The girl moved her arm, with a smug on her face, aiming at the guy and her hand fired several medium yellow orbs straight into her non-moving target. The orbs hit dead on, and the impact left a cloud of dirt to fill the area. The girl smugly smiled as she seemed to be pleased with her work and began to fly down but three fast moving red orbs flew at her, and she just barely missed. I looked over to the cloud as it began to dissipate, surprisingly the guy was still standing in the same position. He does not even have any signs of the orbs that crashed into him, he has his arm out stretch towards her. He shoots another volley of red orbs aiming at the girl and she immediately tries to dodge and manages to barely miss two of the orbs but gets hit with the third with a boom. The hit seems to do a number on her as her cloths were burned a bit and her hair seemed to be ragged, her face was most peculiar though. Her fiery eyes stared down at him, she took both her arms and reached for the sky as she began to vibrate. This situation seemed to be getting worse, and I did not want to see this through to the end, for fear of being collateral damage. But it gave me more information about these people with horns; Never mess with them. They can fly and have some supernatural powers and could only have nightmares of being the receiving end of one punch from them. I began to turn back and walk away to think of a better plan in case of this. How can I still communicate with them with no way to spe-
Bam!
Immediately the ground shook, and I turned around back to the fight. The vibrating girl had unleased a rainfall of giant yellow orbs that fell on the arena floor. All the orbs landed with a giant explosion to whatever it hit. It seems very erratic as some landed on the arena, some on the houses nearby, some near to the people who are watching, including where I was. The orbs continued to crash, and the people fled to safety as the whole arena became a warzone of exploding orbs and crashing houses. I picked up my legs and ran with them, I didn't want to stay there and let my demise fall on me. More people fled past me; it was then I noticed. The building to my right wobbled, struggling to keep itself up right as it topples over to me. I picked up my speed, desperate to not be my fate. Reaching to the edge and jumped. Landed perfectly safe on the other side as the wall meets the floor. I cannot believe I did that, shocked even. I seem to just cheated death as I smiled at my near-death escape. I smiled at my victory.
Take that gravity! You can beat me tha--
Something hit my head, it was another piece of another wall, my vision gotten blurry as I fell over to my side. Dammit all, all that work and for nothing? I continue to contemplate what I had done to deserve this as I hear the wall begin to lean to me. The piece must have hit me hard as I could not move and had trouble even staying conscious. What an idiot I am. I lay there, hoping some sort of miracle might happen. I was barely conscious as I slowly closed my eyes, accepting there's nothing I could do. I lost consciousness just before the wall flattened me.
Darkness surrounded me.
I heard a voice in the distance.
Darkness. Pure darkness.
