Chapter 1 - Greed's Arrival
He saw a light and suddenly the boy saw himself standing in front of a fountain in an unknown city.
"What? Where am I" whispered Subaru as to not draw attention to his confused self.
He looked around, but all he saw were big medieval-style buildings and… "Lizards? Alright, I am definitely in another world!" thought Subaru. "But how did I get here?"
Subaru started walking around the city to gather information when he stumbled upon an alleyway.
"Haah, what am I supposed to do now? Where is the beautiful girl that summoned me?" shouted Subaru. Unbeknownst to him, a certain half-elf Witch blushed when she heard him.
"Summoned? What are you talking about?" Suddenly, three shadows walked behind him.
"I think he's gone crazy." Said the small shadow.
"Let's just get this shit over with, I don't have all day for him." Said the third shadow that seemed to be the leader.
Subaru, already tired of all the walking, turned around and saw the three hooligans.
"Don't fight it and give us all your stuff, and maybe we will leave you alive." Laughed one of the hooligans.
They started approaching him, when suddenly, Subaru, with clear anger in his voice, asked:
"All my stuff? Don't get cocky!" shouted Subaru as he started running towards the trio, and as a switch, something activated in his body. When he punched one of them, they flew straight into a wall behind them, making it collapse.
"W-What was that?" Asked the small thief his accomplice, but he couldn't answer as he was left speechless. One of his friends was just punched so hard that he made the entire wall collapse. No one expected something like that from the black-haired teenager.
"What just happened?" Thought Subaru as he looked at his hands.
Suddenly, Subaru felt really sick, but he couldn't just fall here. He needed to defend himself.
"Do you want to get punched t-" Subaru couldn't finish his sentence, because he fell on his stomach. "Damn it, why am I so tired. What even happened?" Thought Subaru before falling unconscious. But just before he closed his eyes, he saw a white silhouette of a person that seemed to have silver hair and behind it, was a more well-built person with red hair.
Subaru woke up after a while, he tried to stand up but a voice like a silver bell called out to him.
"You shouldn't do such sudden moves, I don't know what exactly happened, but you didn't have any injuries on your body so I didn't have to heal you. But you should be more careful." Said the mysterious girl.
"T-Thank you for protecting me while I was out." Stuttered out a blushing Subaru.
"You don't have to thank me. I didn't stay here for you, I stayed here for a really selfish reason."
"Emilia-sama, I believe that was unnecessary." Said the mysterious man with red hair.
"Yeah, Lia. I know we are in a hurry but don't be so cold. It will hurt your pretty face." Said another mysterious voice, this one sounded like a child.
Subaru looked at the girl when he noticed a cat in her silver hair.
When the cat saw the boy looking at him, it flew from the hair right in front of Subarus's face.
"Hello, my name is Puck! I am the Great Spirit of Fire." Said the flying cat.
"You can talk?!"
Subaru carefully fixed his dirty tracksuit and looked around him and then back at the girl.
"What even happened? Where are the thieves?" Just as he asked this, he noticed the big hole in the wall. He at least hoped they quickly left and didn't rob him when he was unconscious. He didn't have anything valuable on him but still, getting robbed on the first day in a new city was embarrassing.
"I don't know what exactly happened here, but something was stolen from me and I saw the thief heading this way. I tried to follow her but she was too quick and I instead ran into the three thieves and you on the ground." Then she continued. "When I asked them if they saw the thief, they directed me, but I still couldn't let them just rob you. So I scared them off and they took the guy in the wall with them and ran away."
Subaru looked at her with admiration.
"Right, one of the thieves was under a lot of debris from the collapsed wall. Do you know what that was about?" Asked the red-haired knight.
"N-No, I am not sure what that was about, I just punched him and he flew into the wall. But then I suddenly felt really sick and I just dropped on the ground."
The knight looked at him and nodded. "My Divine Protection of Wind Reading tells me you are not lying."
"Emilia-sama already told me what she was doing here. Apparently, something was stolen from her, so since I'm free for today, I shall help her."
"No, Reinhard I really appreciate it, but I can't bother you with my stuff. I will get it myself." Said the silver-haired girl.
Reinhard seemed to be thinking about it. But in the end, he simply nodded. Looking at Subaru, he realized he hasn't introduced himself yet.
"Oh, where are my manners. My name is Reinhard van Astrea. I am the current Sword Saint." Said the knight with a smile on his face.
Subaru took his hand in his own. "My name is Natsuki Subaru! Not only am I clueless, but I am also totally broke!" Said Subaru with a smile.
When Subaru introduced himself, he saw that the silver-haired girl was getting up to leave.
She looked quite sad, Subaru couldn't just leave this be, so he ran up to her, determination filling his eyes.
"Wait! You said something was stolen from you, right?" Asked Subaru with a determined gaze.
"W-Well yes, but I don't want to bother you with my dumb stuff." Said Emilia.
"Besides, you wouldn't want to help a half-elf." Whispered Emilia to herself, Subaru didn't hear what she said so he left it be.
The black-haired boy looked at her and spoke. "You used your precious time to help me even though I wasn't really injured. Please, let me repay you by helping you get what was stolen from you.
Emilia was looking at Subaru with a worried gaze, she didn't want to put Subaru in danger because of her, but she couldn't decline him either.
"Alright." Sighed Emilia, clearly defeated.
Subaru looked at her, realizing he didn't introduce himself to the girl.
"Oh, by the way, my name is Natsuki Subaru, it's really nice to meet you."
"Hello Subaru, my name is... my name is Emilia, just Emilia. It's nice to meet you too."
Emilia took his hand and as they shook them, Subaru could feel as if he gave something to the girl, he felt a little empty around his heart area, but he quickly forgot about it.
The girl also felt something in her chest, it wasn't what Subaru felt, it wasn't emptiness. She instead felt warmth, such warmth she never felt in years.
She looked at Subaru with a smile on her face and after parting with Reinhard, they left the alleyway. Reinhard felt bad, he was a knight and wanted to help them, but he couldn't force Emilia if she denied him.
After walking for a few minutes, they stumbled upon the Market District.
Subaru wanted to use this opportunity to ask some of the sellers and merchants, but he was distracted when he saw Emilia staring at a crying girl.
"Hey, Subaru. Do you think she's lost?" said the half-elf as she pointed at the green-haired girl.
"Should we help her? We don't have a lot of time, you know." Said Subaru, but Emilia ignored him and approached the little girl.
"Where are your parents? I can help you find them." Said the silver-haired girl as she held out her hand for the little girl. She looked at her, noticing her pointy ears and silver hair, she started crying even louder.
Emilia looked a little hurt, but she still wanted to help her. Not wanting the situation to get out of control, Subaru approached the little girl with a coin in his hand.
"This is a 10-yen coin. And look, when I do this, it disappears!" Subaru showed her the coin and then he moved his hand and made the coin magically disappear.
It clearly worked as the girl stopped crying and was observing his empty hand in awe.
"Where could the coin go?" Asked Subaru with a smirk as he put his hand behind the girl's ear.
"There it is!" Exclaimed Subaru as he grabbed the coin from behind her ear.
The girl was laughing, clearly satisfied.
"This coin is a one of a kind. I have no use for it anymore, so take good care of it for me, will you?" Asked Subaru as he handed the coin to the girl. When the girl nodded, Subaru also smiled at her.
"Let me and this lady help you find your parents, alright?" The girl nodded and after a few minutes of searching the market, they found her father.
"Plum! What are you doing here, honey?" Asked the appa seller.
"Daddy! I was lost when this nice boy and lady found me and helped me find you!" Said the girl, named Plum with a cute voice.
"Really? Well then, I have to thank you. The name is Kadomon Risch." Said the massive guy with a smile on his face.
"You found my daughter and brought her to me, what can I do for you?" Asked the appa seller.
Subaru was quick to ask the question he and Emilia needed an answer to.
"Have you seen a golden-haired girl with red eyes and shabby clothes running around here? She stole something from us and we need it back."
Kadomon was thinking, when he suddenly snapped his fingers and exclaimed "Ah, you must mean Felt, she is kind of infamous around here, she comes from the Slums, I bet you can find her there."
Emilia seemed to be happy with that answer.
And with a "thank you" and "goodbye!" They traveled to the place called the Slums.
"Lia, it's getting late, I will be able to stay for only a few minutes. After that, I will leave it to you, Subaru." Said the magical cat with a smile.
Subaru nodded. "I promise to keep Emilia-tan safe. You don't have to worry about a thing." Said the black-haired boy with a confident smile.
Emilia looked at him, confused. "Tan? What does that mean? I hope it's not an insult, mister!" Pouted Emilia.
Subaru laughed and corrected her. "It's a sign of affection, means I like you."
Emilia said nothing, only a slight blush visible on her face.
After a while, they finally found themselves in the Slums.
Subaru saw someone and he was about to ask them about Felt when the guy suddenly smiled at Subaru. "Hello, brother. What do you need?"
"Brother?" Thought Subaru. As he looked at his clothes, he realized that he must have thought he lives in the Slums because they were dirty after he fell on the ground back in the alleyway.
"Hello, brother. I am looking for Felt, I have some business with her. Could you point me towards her?" asked Subaru with a slight frown. He didn't like this tactic, but it was the only way.
"Of course, Felt lives there, in the back." Said the Slum dweller as he pointed at a shabby shack. "But she mostly spends her time in the loot house with Rom. That's behind Felt's house."
"I see. I appreciate it, thank you, brother." Said Subaru.
"No problem. I love to help people with directions since it's hard to navigate it here. Live strong!" Finished the mysterious man.
Subaru returned to the silver-haired girl with good news.
"So, what did you find out?" Asked Emilia.
"Apparently, Felt often goes to a place called the loot house. I guess she takes the stolen goods there to sell them. We should probably hurry up before the Sun sets."
The silver-haired girl looked at him in admiration in her eyes, a smile replaced her worried face.
"Yes, let's."
After they heeded the directions the man told them, they arrived at the place called loot house.
They noticed there was still light inside, so they weren't too late.
Subaru was the one to approach the door and knock on them.
*knock* *knock* *knock*
He moved away from the door as he heard footsteps approaching them. The footsteps were so loud, they could belong to a giant.
"For the rat?" chanted the mysterious voice.
"What? Please, just let us in. I believe there is something that was stolen from us here." Said Subaru as Emilia nodded behind him.
Subaru could hear the man mutter something, after that, he opened the door.
"Come in, but be quiet. I have an ongoing negotiation here!" Said the old man.
"And don't try anything, I am more skilled than you think." He finished.
"Don't worry, we won't try anything, and you shouldn't too." Chipped Emilia, clearly angering the giant.
When they entered the next room, both of them noticed the golden-haired girl with the insignia in her hand, and next to her was a black-haired woman with very revealing clothes. She also seemed to have some knives on her.
The woman seemed to notice Subaru, her face seemed pretty friendly.
That was until she noticed the silver-haired half-elf behind him.
"It seems that the negotiations are over." Said the black-haired woman.
"What?" Shouted the small thief as she questioned why she suddenly had a change of mind.
"After all, how can we negotiate for the insignia if the original owner is here?" The woman had a lewd smile on her as she pulled out a knife and started licking it.
"I didn't know she followed me! Please, I worked really hard for this!" Pleaded the golden-haired thief.
"Emilia-tan, we are against a crazy person, watch out." Whispered Subaru. Emilia nodded and prepared herself, the old man seemed to be on their side too, he pulled out his bat and assumed a fighting stance.
"Elsa Granhiert, the Bowel Hunter. It's a pleasure to meet you, young boy. I am sure your bowels will have a lovely color." The woman seemed to have some kind of fetish for cutting people in half.
"My name is Natsuki Subaru, the useless boy, and your end." Growled the Subaru.
Elsa didn't waste a second when she sprinted out and attacked Emilia. She seemed to be doing a good job, but since Puck left, her power was incredibly reduced.
The black-haired woman was waiting for an opening, which happened within seconds, and so she went for her bowels.
"Emilia! Watch out!" Screamed Subaru as he tried to block the knife with his body. This weird tactic seemed to work because Elsa's knife was blocked by an invisible force.
This forced her to retreat and she tried to attack the old man with Felt instead.
"Emilia! Are you alright?" Said Subaru, pain visible in his face.
"Y-Yes. Thank you Subaru, I would be dead without you." Answered Emilia as she prepared herself to start shooting ice at the assassin.
But it was too late. When she was confused, Elsa managed to cut the old man's arm off and then slice his bowels.
"Old Man Rom!" Screamed the little girl. She tried to help the old man, but her anger-driven attacks never landed on Elsa.
And in a matter of seconds, Felt was also cut in half and kicked against a wall, leaving a trail of blood behind her.
"This was boring." Sighed the assassin as she pointed her blades at Emilia.
She was still careful of the black-haired boy since she didn't know where that attack came from, but Subaru looked as confused as was she, so she ignored him and attacked the silver-haired girl.
"You'll pay for killing those people!" Shouted Emilia as she shot more and more icicles at Elsa.
She seemed to have the upper hand when suddenly, another slip-up happened and she was completely vulnerable.
The assassin jumped straight at her and tried to cut her, but Subaru jumped into it again.
Learning from her past mistake, she kicked the boy away and cut the half-elf in the bowels.
"EMILIA!" Screamed the boy as he stood up and ran towards her, catching her just before she fell on the hard ground.
"S-Suba-ru." Cried out the half-elf.
"This... isn't... your f-fault. Forgive...me." Were the last words she said before she died.
"No, NO! You can't die!" This was the first time Subaru cried in years.
"As much as it pains my heart to see this, I will have to gut you too, boy." Spat the black-haired woman.
Elsa tried to use the confusion-filled boy to cut him in half, but as she approached him, her blade suddenly froze. The ice started moving from her blade to her arms until it reached her torso, legs and head. Making her completely frozen.
Emilia's crystal was pulsating. And suddenly, something came out of it, destroying the roof of the loot house.
Subaru looked up, only to see a huge beast that was looking at him with disgust.
The beast's gaze was enough for Subaru to start shivering from fear.
"You broke your promise and killed Lia." Said the huge beast.
"Sleep, along with my daughter." Was the last thing Subaru heard before he completely froze and his sight blacked out.

Hello there!
After thinking about this story for a week, I finally pushed myself to write it. In this story, Subaru gains the Authority of Greed which has the same abilities as Regulus'. Now, this doesn't mean he won't have RBD. He has it, he just won't use it so often since he has an ability that clearly makes in invulnerable.
Also, a warning for some people: This will probably be a harem fic, so if you don't like that stuff, you can leave.
And one more thing. This fic won't have an upload schedule. I might release another chapter in a week, a month, maybe I will update it once a year... It all depends on how I feel.
