Author's Note: This story takes place during season 4.
Autumn had descended on Royal Woods and all over, the leaves on the trees were changing from green to crisp orange and yellow.
At Royal Woods high school, Leni was happily collecting her things from her locker. She was excited. Pop Pop's birthday was tomorrow and she couldn't wait to get home and start planning what decorations she would use for the party. It was always a big event in her family.
She soon found Lori at her locker talking to Carol Pingrey.
"So I literally found the cutest pair of shorts at the mall, but after trying them on, I found they weren't really my look." Said Lori, telling Carol about her trip to the mall yesterday. "I thought you had to pay for them because you ripped the bottom of them trying them on." Put in Leni.
Carol stifled a laugh as Lori's eyes grew as big as frisbees. She whipped around and stared angrily at her sister. "What the heck Leni!?" She cried. "Why'd you say that?!" "But what you said wasn't what happened. Shouldn't you be honest with your friends?" Asked Leni. Lori clenched her fists and growled in frustration. "Just go to the bus! I'll meet you there!" "Ok! Bye!" Said Leni happily and skipped to the bus.
When they arrived home, Leni went into her room to read her fashion magazines while her siblings hung out in their rooms. A little later, she heard Luna playing her guitar. Leni loved Luna's music and went to her room to listen.
Luna and Luan were both in their room. Luna was providing some music for Luan's comedy show with Mr. Coconuts. Luan had built a custom stage for her dummy to preform with. "So I told him he's gotta ketchup! Hahahaha! Get it?" Chuckled Luan. Leni walked in laughing. "I love your jokes Luan!"
While Luan did like people laughing at her jokes and puns, she felt a little annoyed knowing that Leni laughed at everything she did. But she thought it was still a win. "Thanks Leni." She said. "Oh! Can I help! I can help! I can be your assistant again!" Leni walked over to grab a rubber chicken when she slipped on luan's bullhorn and fell right onto Luan's stage and the cord of Luna's guitar, yanking it onto the floor with a loud crash! "Mr. Coconuts' stage! My axe!"
"O M Gosh! I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to!" Cried Leni. "Leni, just leave so we can deal with this" Shouted Luna and Luan together. Leni quickly walked out of the room and closed the door. "Well that was bad." Thought Leni. "Maybe I should see what Lynn and Lucy are up to."
Lynn was dribbling a basketball while Lucy was reading some poems. "Hey guys!" Said Leni excitedly. "Hey Leni." They replied. "Hey, do either of you wanna model some clothes I've been working on? I'm sure you two would look so pretty." Said Leni. "Leni, we've told you this a million times, we don't like modeling your clothes! Go ask someone else." Said Lynn. "I'd rather bury myself alive than be seen in anything other than black and white. Mostly black." Added Lucy.
Leni then went to see the twins, who were looking over their badge guide from their bluebell scout troop. "Hey, do you two wanna model for me?" Asked Leni. "Lana and I have better things to do right now. Sorry." "Besides, you know how I feel about ruffles." Said Lana.
She went to see Lisa and Lily. But Lisa was too busy for "barbaric activities", and Lily was playing with her bear and blankie in her crib. But she did wave to Leni in happiness.
She decided to go downstairs to see her parents. Lynn Sr was busy cooking some banana bread. "Ooh! Banana Bread!!" Squealed Leni, jumping up and down. In her excitement, she didn't realize the bananas were sitting on the table close to her. She bumped into the table knocking the bowl of bananas onto the floor! The bowl squished the bananas with a splurt! "Leni! Look what you did!" Cried Lynn Sr. "Those were for the banana bread I was making for Pop Pop's birthday tomorrow!" "I'm sorry dad, I can clean it up for you." "No, you've done enough. Go do something else." And he frustratingly cleaned up the mess.
Rita was busy writing her parenting column for the Royal Woods Gazette. "Hi mom!" "Hi Leni." Answered Rita, focusing on her laptop. "Hey mom, how come the newspaper is called Gazette? Is that a type of gazelle?" Asked Leni. "No Leni it's just a name." "Then who named it? Gasp! Does the newspaper have a mom and dad too??" Asked Leni hopefully. "No Leni, it doesn't." Answered Rita."Then how did it get it's name? You always get a name from parents. Is it adopted?" Rita then spun her chair around, feeling quite annoyed with Leni's questions. "Leni! I'm trying to work! I need you to be quiet and leave me alone! Now!" She returned to her work as Leni sadly went back upstairs.
After being rejected by her sisters and her parents, she decided to assume that Lincoln wouldn't be up for modeling. But as she headed back to her room, Lincoln came out of the bathroom. "Hey Leni! Something wrong?" He asked, noticing her downcast expression. "Oh, it just feels like I've been annoying everybody today." Explained Leni. "What do you mean?" Asked Lincoln. Leni told him everything that had happened.
"You're not an annoyance Leni. I'm sure everyone's just stressed about Pop Pop's birthday tomorrow. They just want to make sure they get everything done in time." Assured Lincoln. "Really?" Asked Leni hopefully. "I'm positive. Just be yourself. The Leni we all love. I'm sure everything's ok." And after giving her a hug, he headed into his room. Lincoln's words made Leni feel a little better. "Yeah. Be myself." And she went back into her room to start planning the decoration setup.
Stay tuned for chapter 2!
