*October 10th (Night of Naruto's birth)*
The Fourth Hokage had just finished battling a man with a mask who claimed to be Madara Uchiha. The battle was intense but ended when the Yellow Flash was able to land a Rasengan to the masked man's back. The masked man had been able to kidnap his wife and his children. He had also managed to rip out the Nine Tailed Fox from his wife's seal. The fox was now loose and rampaging inside the village. His job now was to stop the beast from destroying the village completely.
"Mina-kun are you going to use that seal?" His wife was asking him with a somber tone. She was already exhausted from giving birth to twins and having the Nine Tails extracted from her.
"Yes I'm going to have to." The Fourth's voice now had a grave and serious tone.
"NO YOU CAN'T!" His wife now became saddened by the seal he was going to use to stop the fox. He would sacrifice himself to stop it.
"I'm sorry Kushi-chan but this is the only way." The Fourth Hokage told his wife with a sad expression.
"NOO! We can find another way. Our babies need a father." Kushina began to whimper silently while holding both of her kids.
One of the twins she was holding was a small boy with bright blond hair and ocean blue eyes. He also had three whisker marks on each cheek. The other child was a small girl with a darker shade of blond hair. The most noticeable feature of her hair however was that the ends of each hair was tipped with a crimson red, the same color as her mother. Her eyes also matched her mother's meaning she had violet colored eyes. She also had the unique three whisker marks on each cheek.
"I'm sorry but at least the children will have you, their mother to raise them. They won't be lonely. You'll be there to guide them and watch them grow." Minato watched his wife just cry even more. It saddened him greatly that he wouldn't be there for Naruto and Hikari, but this had to be done.
Kushina couldn't even form words anymore. She tried to think of another way to stop the beast that was attacking the village, but she couldn't find another way. Unable to even speak, she reluctantly nodded her head still saddened by the whole situation. She then watched Minato vanish in a yellow flash.
*Elsewhere*
"Summoning Jutsu!" A huge toad slam into the fox pinning it into the ground. A single figure could be seen on top of the toad with his signature cloak on.
"Hey is that Lord Fourth!" One of the ninja shouted. Many people were trying to hold off the Nine Tails, but the attempts so far were not working in their favor. The only person who could somewhat fight the beast was the Third Hokage, but he was already old and growing weaker. The only thing he had managed to do so far was push the fox out of the village. The last hope was the Fourth Hokage.
Minato then flashed away and was now on the ground with his wife along with the twins. He was getting ready to use the Reaper Death Seal to seal the fox into himself. He would then take the fox with him to the Shinigami's stomach. The toad that he summoned could not hold down the fox for forever. Chains then shot out of his wife's body and surrounded the beast. The chains then pinned trapped the beast in place.
"Here seal the fox back into me." Kushina told her husband.
"No, I'm sorry Kushina-chan, but I can't seal it back into you otherwise you would die. I'm going to have to seal into either myself or the children." Kushina was now worried knowing the life of Jinchuriki. Minato saw the worried expression that appeared on her face.
"Hey now don't worry they'll both have you with them." Minato was trying to comfort his wife.
"Okay honey it's just the fact that the they won't have a father with them that bothers me." Tears started to spill out of her eyes again.
"It bothers me too. However, this must be done for everyone else in the village." Minato then was about to summon the Death God when he heard a voice behind him.
"STOP! Let me do it Minato." The Third Hokage shouted. He wanted to do this. Minato was confused when he saw the old man.
"I'm sorry old man but I must do this for the village." Hiruzen then shook his head and stopped Minato from doing the necessary hand seals to perform the summoning.
"No let me do this. The village needs you. Your family needs you. I have already lived a long life and my wife has already passed. Please let this be my last gift to the village and to you." Minato then saw the reasoning in his words and the confidence in his eyes. The Third Hokage would save the village and his life. He nodded solemnly to the old man.
"Thank you Minato. Well then here it goes. Summoning Jutsu!" The Shinigami the appeared around the old man.
The Nine Tails saw what was happening and knew he was about to be sealed again. The fox started to break the chains and lunged forward trying to kill the twins that were lying on the ground. The Third Hokage saw what was happening and jumped in front of the claw that was sent at the children. The Fourth had been to focused on the children to be able to move in time. The claw stabbed straight through his stomach and stopped a few inches away from the children. Kushina was able to tighten her hold on the fox to stop it from going any further.
"Thank you old man for saving them." Minato was grateful for the heroic actions of the former Hokage.
"Don't thank me yet, I'm not done." The Third had a sad smile on his face despite the major injury he just received.
"Eight Trigrams Seal! I'm going to have to split the soul from the chakra. Which should I give each twin?" Hiruzen asked Minato.
"Please give the soul to my son Naruto and the chakra to my daughter Hikari." Minato answered back. The Shinigami then used its power to split the Kyuubi's chakra and its soul from one another. The next thing it did was seal the chakra into Hikari and the soul of the fox into Naruto. A seal formed over both of the children's stomachs.
"Now you can thank me." The Third Hokage managed to get out. He felt himself slowly dying from the effects of summoning the Shinigami. He still had a small smile on his face.
"Thank you old man." Minato was beginning to tear up a little watching his predecessor dying right in front of him. Kushina was now passed out on the ground from chakra exhaustion, however she was still alive and would make it despite all the events that had just happened.
"Can you do one last thing for me?" The Third Hokage was now asking his successor. He was now laying on the ground as he felt his life force leaving him.
"Yes I'll do anything for what you just did for me and this village." Minato now had tears in his eyes as he was looking at the man who just sacrificed his life for Minato and the rest of the village. He then bent down a little more to listen to the last words of Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage.
"Promise me that you will do everything in your power to take care of the both of your children." With those words, he gave his last breath and shut both of his eyes.
'I promise old man. I'll make sure that both of them are treated well.' Minato silently promised himself after hearing the fallen Hokage's last words.
Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage, and the hero of the Hidden Leaf Village was now dead.
