Chapter 1.

I wiped the tears away from my cheeks, and sighed. Come on girl, get it together. I wiped the tears off with the golden ends of my handmaiden robe. I failed miserably at my mission. And now I was trapped here in this cold conference room. The silver droid told me that I was going to be terminated soon, and had to wait here for further instructions. It was just my luck. These Neimoidans got lucky, and had a realization that I wasn't the actual queen when I was trying to be like the great Queen Amidala, of whom I served and protected with my life for. I just couldn't believe I failed my mission.

A door suddenly slid open, making my head lift up at the curious sound. I haven't heard from anyone in awhile. Part of me hoped it was TC-14 granting my wish of a quick death, but there were other feet I saw from the small light outside the room I was in. I got up from my spot against my cot, and walked closer to the door, pressing my ear against it to see if I could hear them more.

"I hope you ambassadors will find it most comfortable here," she said kindly. Ha. I wanted to scoff. Yeah right. But I kept it quiet. "My master will be with you shortly."

Ambassadors? The queen didn't say anything about sending ambassadors or even help if I were captured, caught, or killed. I was going to walk in, but I hesitated when TC-14 waddled off. I could hear the joints squeak as she went to go find her master.

"I have a bad feeling about this," the voice said, so familiar to my heart and mind.

"I don't sense anything," my father's voice I definitely remembered.

"It's not about the mission, Master. It's something elsewhere, elusive," he continued.

"Don't center on your anxiety, Obi-Wan," my father implored. "Keep your concentration here, and now where it belongs."

"But Master Yoda says I should be mindful about the future…" he protested.

"But not at the expense of the moment," my father said. "Be mindful of the living Force my young Padawan."

"Yes, Master. Now how do you think the trade viceroy will deal with the chancellor's demands?" Obi-Wan asked.

"These Federations are cowards," he replied. "The negotiations will be short."

I got a little mad about that and then pressed the door wide open. I walked through the threshold and stormed out of there.

"Very short," I agreed, standing my ground.

Obi-Wan turned around just as my father had.

"Maddie," he exclaimed in shock. "What are you doing here? Should you even be here? I thought you were with the queen, well protected."

"I was," then I scoffed, "I'm twenty-five, father, I can do missions for the queen on my own…this one, I just happened to, erm," I coughed and cleared my throat, trying not to be embarrassed by it, especially in front of Obi-Wan. "Fail," I cleared my throat, and forced a smile on my face.

"You were out here alone negotiating with these dummies?" Obi-wan pointed a thumb behind his shoulder.

"Yes," I said giving him a look. "The queen thought I was ready for my first mission after training grounds. Needless to say…I ended up here, and so did you, by the way, which is not a good sign at all. Don't expect a warm welcome."

"I suppose not," he said with a shake of his head.

"Why are you in here for?"

"I was waiting for negotiations," I smirked at Obi-Wan. He gave me a small look and I nodded. Yup. Negotiations were not gonna happen for any one of us and we were totally trapped.
