Chapa was good at hiding her scars.
She recently got in a physical fight with her mom, but she realized that she made the dumb decision to climb through Mika's bedroom window to tell her about it.
"Ouch, that hurts!" The teen snapped, already curling her fingers that were covered in red galvanism. She was sitting on her bed with her shoulders hunched down, completely covered in claw-like scars on her cheek and a cut on her bottom lip. Right now, she was watching her friend place alcohol prep on the long scratch on her hand.
"Well maybe if you stopped squirming..." She replied curtly. Mika trailed off, still in disbelief that she got in a fist fight with her mom and her mind began to wander more about their fights since she spotted an old bruise on her shoulder. "How long has this been going on?"
Mika realized that she shouldn't have asked her about that, because her friend suddenly gave her a death glare that made her become stiff as a board. "Okay, nevermind." She muttered. Mika suddenly focused on the bottle of gauze on the floor, and she put the lid onto the bottle then began turning it to break the awkward silence between them.
"For a while." Chapa said, suddenly capturing her attention. Mika knitted her eyebrows together completely puzzled by her random statement, and she earned a sigh from her teammate's lips. "She's been hitting me for a while." She clarified.
Chapa hated seeing her eyes widen like she were a ghost or have done an unspeakable crime. She rolled her eyes then stared down at the bottle of gauze in her hands, suddenly feeling uncomfortable. "What? Chapa, I- I didn't _ What happened?"
The waspish teen suddenly thought about their fight started from her simply forgetting to take out the trash, and that's when she felt her cheeks burn like fire. "Just forget about it." She ordered, suddenly pulling down her sleeve. She curled her fingers into fists since she despised being seen as some kind of a weakling, it was like her tough girl mask was stripped away from her. The truth was that she wasn't as tough as she portrays to her friends since her mom hits her and this was the first time she actually fought back.
"No, we need to talk about this." Mika protested. She watched her peer roll her eyes with an irritable sigh, while staring out of the window. It was clear that she was having regrets about coming to her about it, but she didn't care since this was a serious matter. "Look I know this makes you uncomfortable-"
"Yep." Chapa confirmed.
"But, I care about you and I can't just "forget about it" after you tell me that your mom has been hurting you. Let me in a little."
Chapa shook her head, "You wouldn't understand."
"Well, whenever you're comfortable. I'll be here waiting." Mika told her.
Chapa stared at her friend for a while before suddenly pulling her into a hug, "Thank you."
THE END!
