After going to many stores, I still had no luck finding Splatoon 2. "What was going through your mind when you decided to buy this game on July 23rd, Emma?" In a great amount of sadness, I got back on my bike and rode back the 8 blocks home. I would never find the game I so greatly was excited for. I had remembered getting Splatoon back a few years ago, and loved it. When the second game came out, I decided I should buy it.

But no luck. I sighed, still sad. When I got home, I wheeled my bike into the garage, threw off my shoes, and walked into my room to sulk about my misfortune. However, I was shocked to see Splatoon 2 sitting right on my bed. I didn't even bother to see if the game was safe or not. It looked fresh as new. I tore off the wrapper, and smelled the fresh air of the new game. But it didn't have the crisp, clear smell of the old. It smelled like rotting dirt. But I still didn't question it. I just simply popped the game into my Switch and turned it on.

There was the good old tutorial. I felt nostalgic all over again, this game was going to be fun. However, the ink color was...white. "I don't recall there being a white color," I said. Maybe it was just a new color.

I should have been concerned by now.

The game played normally. I got to see other profiles and clothes. However, one of the accounts had nothing but the word 666. Her eyes were red as blood. Where there was meant to be white around her eyes was night black. This is when I should have freaked out, but I kept calm. Maybe it was just a glitch. A retarded glitch meant to fool me. But yet, I still hadn't turned it off. When it finally got to me was when I entered Octo Canyon.

Marie didn't introduce me. In fact, there was no introduction cutscene to give me my weapon at all. I had nothing to defend myself with. But somehow, when I got to the first level, I had a weapon. But Marie never talked during the mission. All the ink on the map was as white as milk. But the enemies were pitch black. I turned off the console, praying this wouldn't hack my console. When I pressed the POWER button was when Marie finally talked.

And I wished she hadn't.

She said, "You're trying to escape this nightmare, huh?" 2 choices appeared on the screen, "PRESS A FOR YES AND B FOR NO." I wasn't afraid to show it. I hit the A button with all my might. Then Marie said, "You can't." The screen showed blood splatters in the color of white, with the following text, "This is the blood of all the inklings you'd betray if you were to leave this game." I almost felt bad about leaving.

But my Switch wasn't being hacked today. I turned off the console.

It turned back on.

Then it started to shake violently. It showed a picture of Marie, covered in the black ink, saying "COME HERE!" and "YOU'RE NEXT!" It jumped up in the air, and tried flying towards me. I threw it in the kitchen sink and turned on the faucet. There was no other choice, I had to destroy my Switch even though it caused me horrible pain to do so. As soon as I picked it up, it felt like the bones in my hands were breaking. But I had to do it.

As soon as it was in, it stopped shaking. I observed it from a distance, Marie was melting along with her ink-stained kimono. She was melted to nothing more than a pile of goop. As soon as that happened, the Switch just shut off. No noise, no vibrations, no nothing. Was it dead? I walked over to the sink. I put my hand over my heart. It was beating harder than ever. On the sixth beating of my heart, I collapsed to the floor.

I woke up in the hospital. My body felt extremely numb. The doctor explained to me that he had found me in my house unconscious. I asked, emotionlessly, "Was there anything else that you found there?" The doctor replied, "No. We did find a pile of dried black goop in your sink though. We removed it." After a few days in the hospital, I left. The hole in my heart couldn't fill anything now. I missed my Switch, and I was sure it missed me.

6 days later, however, I found my Switch sitting right on my bed. I didn't even bother to turn it on, I just ran to it, crying with tears of joy. I had finally reunited with my supposedly broken console. I didn't even feel confused as to how it was on my bed. After minutes, I turned it on. It worked perfectly. But what was the cost? Splatoon 2. It was gone. The game pack seemed to be there, so I reinserted the chip, hoping none of my data was lost.

When the game started up, to my despair, it was black. Just nothing but black. At this point, red writing appeared on the screen. "You may have escaped a first time, but not a second time. This time, you're dead for good." The doorbell rang 6 times. I peeped through the curtain slightly, to see MARIE HERSELF, covered in the same black ink. I said nothing, but I ran to the basement as fast as I could.

"Damn it, she's back," I said. I tried searching all the boxes of my basement to find a weapon I could attack that creepy-as-hell Marie with. I found nothing. I sighed, slumped down the wall, knowing I would meet an end. I felt a prick on my butt, sat up, only to find a dagger on the floor. I took it and stood up. I heard the front door bust open. Footsteps rumbled underneath me as I prayed for her to not find me.

Suddenly, a crash of china in the living room made me scream. I had given myself away, but Marie could kiss my wrist if she thought I was going down without a good fight. Only when the basement door opened with a crash did I realize how unprepared I was. Marie was holding her umbrella and attacking me with it, but the tip of the umbrella had been sharpened to a knife. This was it.

I threw the first stab, but she dodged it. "Come on, you creepy Inkling," I kept trying to throw the dagger at her. She then threw the sharpened parasol at me. I dodged that. I could see the fury in her eyes, blazing just as wildly as mine. But when Marie threw her next attack, I threw the dagger at her, and it pierced her in the heart. I laughed as she fell, but her umbrella dragged me down to the ground, piercing me in my heart.

I choked, coughed. I was dying. I couldn't believe it was going to end like this. I couldn't believe I was going to die from a sharpened umbrella to the heart from a creepy, black stained Inkling. Life began to fade out of my eyes. I could see Marie was dead, and soon, I would be too. I tried talking, but I coughed out blood. But at least I'd die quicker. My last words were, "At least I died knowing I killed my greatest enemy."

Then I blacked out. I felt myself rise.
