So after a rather rough couple of weeks personally, I decided that I needed to get back into the writing habit slowly. Chronic pain doesn't help a great deal. I need to work my way back up in creating content to submit for Potters Echoes and the other things I want to write about in a fanfiction mode. To do that, I've decided to sit down and post a list of writing challenges of things I've always wondered a bit about. There's a good chance that at this point some of these could have been done in other challenges, but I haven't seen those. On FFN it's under polarbear20000, on AO3 it's under JBSteele. Pick one (or all) and have fun! I'd love to see what others come up with.
Ron Redoes
We've seen many redo and time-travel fanfics with Harry, Hermione, Luna, and Daphne sent back in time, but what about Ron? When does he get any credit?
Ron is sent back to help after X amount of times dying. Help can be defeating Voldemort, helping Harry in the Triwizard Tournament, or anything in canon.
Prefer little to no Ron-bashing.
Prefer either Harmony or Dramione, unless another pairing for Hermione that isn't Ron can be plotted out.
Harry can be canon powerful, underpowered, or a bit more powerful than canon. No superpowered, Godlike or such.
Line to use: "Wait. You've got to be kidding me. Are you sure you're okay?"
Arthur gets to be either smarter about Muggles or more lucky about snakes. Confusion about rubber ducks optional.
Dumbledore can be good, neutral or evil.
Death/Grim Reaper/Thanatos/whoever needs to be in absolute disbelief at something.

Harry Takes Up the Power
In short, Harry finds the power Voldemort knows not but not the power of love, as posited by Dumbledore.
Politics, Financial, Military, Scientific, Educational, Logical/Electronic/Electrical, Psychological or a combination.
If using Magical power, create something strange.
Pairings or no pairings, no harems.
If Dobby is present, he is quite confused about whatever Harry is doing but helps out anyway.
If Winky is present, she's had enough and tells either Dobby or Harry off before helping. Both realize the errors of their ways.
If Sirius is present, no pranks.
If Remus is present, he is distracted. By what is your choice.
If Delores Umbridge is present, little to no Toad references.
Death Eaters should not be lickspittles.
Aside from Harry's power, Voldemort should be competent.

Normal Day in the Wizarding World, Except...
The Muggle characters in canon find out what a normal Wizarding Day is.
Characters such as the Grangers, Seamus Finnegan's dad, or the in-the-know British Government employees should attend a Quidditch match, shop, go to any Wizarding attractions, or some such.
There should be culture shock. How much is up to you. How much enthusiasm or fear is up to you.
There should be confusion. Whoever explains things to the Muggle characters should be unexpected. Out-of-character actions is up to you, but don't overdo it.

Normal Day in the Muggle World, Except...
Same as above, except reversed. Wizards are spending the day in the Muggle world.
Magical Newspapers
I've always found it a bit hard to believe that there was only the Daily Prophet, the Quibbler, and Wizarding Wireless for news. Even with the regression in society to Victorian times, there should have been more media outlets. The different countries in the ICW alone would have more and surely someone in Wizarding Britain would subscribe.
The timeline can be adjusted to account for technological advances.
You're the editor-in-chief for a newspaper, tabloid, or similar. What's it called? What stories are you putting in your publication and how are you writing it? How is Harry treated?
If you're Internet-enabled, do you enable comments? What kind of comments are you getting? (Don't go crazy with this one, but what reactions is your publication getting from it?)
If you're a radio personality, what format are you using? Talk, news, BBC-like, music, old-time entertainment programs or what? How are the events in canon reported?
Magical TV Stations are permitted, but obviously will need different handling. Evening news with weather, sports, and other reporting would be something to see.
