Cead mile failte,
This is the first story I have written; It is inspired by 'Letters to Monsters'. I don't expect it to be viewed by many if at all, this is just to explore concepts and ideas I have. I will almost certainly make spelling mistakes and grammar mistakes but just bear with me. I at least hope it is legible.
About Japanese words – I will use names and honorifics in Japanese but the Justus ( which by the way, I don't really even know any of them ) will not be…such as Shadow clone Justu not Kage Bushin no jutsu
Also, the lore while most likely change from cannon but I should explain everything throughout.
Also Also, I am Scottish so if you don't understand references or words, please tell me. And its trousers not pants as well as Mum not Mom in this story.
Talking – " Wow he is so… intimidating"
Thinking – ' What an annoying, little, piece of…'
Buji – " Puny little human" & ' Wow…he asked for my name'

" What a troublesome woman… " the fateful words that many would hear only from one type of person, a Nara.
Naruto Nara was a young boy, whom was 12 years old. He had his black hair up in the Nara ponytail, wearing black trousers with matching sandals on. A plain midnight blue T-shirt fit snugly to his skinny body, completing the ensemble was a beige jacket with the Nara symbol on its back. Naruto lay on a grassy field facing the clouds muttering about the so called, troublesome woman . He had just been mentioning her habit to get angry Way to easily when he felt something off. A sudden cold washed over him, as he looked up and towards the village, of which his house overlooked, he saw something that horrified him to the heart. Ninja. But not just any ninja, Uchiha.
They were recognisable from the insignias on the indigo and black outfits, and of course the red eyes, that lacked all emotion and remorse. The ninja were attacking. They started coming through, the rather small village, murdering and pillaging the villagers, the ones he had come to know and befriend. Slaughtered down in front of his eyes. He stayed entranced in his view, the absolutely horrible one, until something happened to further add to the fear and dread. A scream, a high pitched and blood curtailing scream coming from directly behind him.
As he turned around, he saw something that, as much as he wanted to, he would never forget. His Mum, his troublesome woman, was ten feet away from him. Her round face fixed into that of panic. He looked down from the brown eyes until he saw what he dreaded; a katana was pierced through her lower abdomen, blood leaking out all around it. He didn't know what to think , his brain couldn't comprehend what he was seeing in front of him right now. As he stared at her, the katana slid back, and the limp body of his Mum fell ungracefully towards the ground. A thump and that was that, Naruto had lost – for the second time – a parent, he looked behind with eyes full of terror to what monster had slid that katana through her. His eyes settled on a man, dressed in a sleek ninja outfit, his eyes shoed no remorse…or in fact any feelings. The shell of a man stood before the young boy for what Naruto was sure was an eternity but in fact was but a mere second. The man at almost instantaneous speeds arrived in front of the boy, couching down till his head was only inches away from his face.
"Run!", the words processed in Naruto's brain for only a moment before his body took over. He ran, a deep and booming laugh behind him, he ran, over shrubbery and trough trees, he ran, until he was out of breath and no where near the village. His brain going at a million miles an hour trying to think over what happened.
He could not go back there, at least not now. He had no parents, his Dad died from severe injuries during battle when he was only young and now his Mum had got killed yet again by ninja. The cycle of war and hatred catches up to everyone on this planet. What a crazy world he lived in…what it needs is peace. Then this would never happen to other people again. Yes that was it, ' I Naruto Nara, shall strive for everlasting peace in this sorry world and shall end the cycle of hatred '.
Naruto's POV
'Well, first I have to survive...', with a clear objective in mind I set off, using my strengthened mind, to find all the necessities I'd need to survive. First I had to find somewhere to sleep the night away - as I had already been running for a few hours and night was soon to be upon me - then find food and water. The forest located far to the right of his village ( in which direction I had run ) and on top of a hill, should be a nice place to find both food and hopefully a stream. With this thought I set off through the fields and forests; I eventually arrived, about 4 hours later, to a cliff face. Honestly I had no idea where I was, I have just been walking for hours but this may let me see where.
As I looked out off the cliff, (AN- Just to lay the seen, Imagine a vertical cliff where at the top is a forest. This is a clearing just feet away from the edge-) I something beautiful. The sun was setting over the untouched, pristine landscape. For all the eye could see were beautiful, lush forests and open fields. Although, there were no settlements at all. This fact worried me, that maybe I wouldn't be able to find anyone. But I mean, do I really want to, or can I even. Most villages are looked after by ninja and/or are clan villages. Many places I could go, I would be denied access.
In fact our village was one of the few whom allowed outsiders in. It was a farming village, but it still had a decent population and it would allow anyone sanctuary in its streets. My dad was estranged from his family, the Nara, for reasons I don't know. But what I do know is that he came here where he met Mum and...well some ucky, lovey-dovey stuff and they had me. My Dad helped the village as much as he could with his Nara mind. But soon ninja started some...politics stuff. I don't really know, but Dad went somewhere to talk, but never came back. Mum said the ninja killed him because he was too strong. So they must have been scared of him. Hahaha...anyway, I don't know of any other villages near me, never less that let strangers in.
So, camping I suppose. Well this is going to be troublesome...
Naruto set off finding a clearing near the edge, a couple feet away, to build a makeshift bivouac. He made it out of leaves and twigs and to Naruto's surprise he finished it before it became pitch black. Going to sleep the thoughts running through Naruto's head was astounding. Plans for the future, how to survive, how to thrive. All of it getting thought up in minutes, even Naruto was surprised that when he put his mind to it. He was smart.
Well all that is for tomorrow, with that Naruto fell asleep. Tomorrow was going to be a busy day.
When Naruto awoke, it was early morning. With the sun on the back of his head, Naruto set round completing his bivouac. With completed shelter there were two things left on the immediate to-do list - food and water. Water was a relatively easy one, Naruto just set off through the forest ( keeping track of where he was going ) until he found a steam and follow it back to its source. Although it did take a while he found the head of the stream, using a bucket fashioned from leaves he hauled the water back to the 'campsite'. Now food, that's the awkward one. He had to find a edible plants to eat and grow or he would have to hunt animals. The former would be the easiest but the later, would actually give him meat to eat and in fairness a mix of the two would be the best.
'Right, a mix of the two then', Naruto fashioned rope out of twine and set off into the forest, after about a couple hundred feet, he set up a trap for rabbits and the like. Leaving the traps to themselves he set of to go foraging for wild berries and such. Exploring the wood, his mind was always working on memorizing its layout and, in Naruto's mind, it's many quirks. Naruto loved the outdoors, the nature, the wind through his hair, it was all his favourite thing to do. He would go out and lie down in a clearing, staring up at the clouds, becoming one with nature. It was brilliant...for many reasons, one of which is clearing your head after been giving a row. Which is what Naruto was doing when...that...happened.
Anyway, Naruto had hot his hands on a decent amount of wild berries, having been told what wild plants he can eat by a old man in the village one day, that were all edible. Setting back off towards the campsite Naruto came across something, odd. It was paw tracks, but not that of a deer and not that of a rabbit, they were rather big. Like a large dog, but they had claws...hnn, doesn't matter. Naruto continued back to the camp where he set up an area to hold both his water and his food. Then he set up a fire, with foraged twigs and tinder, which he could use to keep himself warm.
And that was that, Naruto would try to survive here, al least until he became strong enough to hold his own with others out there. 'Yes, then I can strive for peace, in this horrible world.'
Kurama's POV
After, like, a couple days I had still yet to catch any animals, I have been trying my hardest but it seems at last my hunting skills are subpar. While I'll change that today, I can put some wild berries at the center of the trap and hope that the rabbit is distracted, I'll even wait close by. Aye, that'll work. So I set off in a good mood, towards the designated hunting ground , and with a spring in my step. When I had set up the trap, I made sure to go an appropriate way away as to not arouse suspicion in the animal. Once I had settled down I sat in a seiza position and waited...and waited...uuuhhh...this is sooooo boring. God, i've been here for like 3 hours and I seriously can not be bot~ huh. Just I was getting ready to pack up and leave, I heard russiling. YEEEES, I had caught something, I set out sprinting towards the trap when I laid eyes on what I had caught.
A small red fox was caught in the trap upside down, wriggling about...nine tails swishing behind it's back.
"What a pian", seriously, who even set a trap. I mean there should be no flies in the forest, uhh. I can't use my chakra here or some of those annoying little kits will come and pester me. Right might as well just wriggle around, I'll get out. With that I set around trying to get out, even using my teeth. Although almost as soon I as started I heard, what I thought were those kits, a noise behind me. With slight annoyance, that I'd have to entertain the kits, I swung my body round until I laid my eyes on...a boy. A tall, black haired bo~ fly. Standing not too far away it seemed to notice that I was looking at it and just as I was about to transform back to my normal size I heard,
"Oh, sorry. I didn't mean to catch a fox, I'll help you down", with that it came towards me.
"Stay back, or I'll squeeze the life out of you puny little body", I didn't know what else to say. Normally if a fly saw me like this it would do one of two things. It would either one; run away like the insignificant little beasty it is or two; try to kill it well it was in a compromisable position. Never had one actually done neither, while my brain was processing this the little flies face had contorted into one of...amazement and wonder.
"Woow, you can talk...Sooo cool!", ...huh. That little fly had not run way, had not tried to kill him but talked back to him. With admiration as well. His brain was going a million miles an hour, trying to find a lie or an ulterior motive in its voice. He found none. "Can I come closer to let you down, uh, fox-san", again his friendly personality with no hatred or resentment shone through. Kurama was gobsmacked, it had been so long since someone had addressed him with respect that wasn't begging on their knees. He slowly nodded, still apprehensive but over all intrigued to find out more about this...boy.
With that the boy stepped forward, walking slowly to the fox. They were now face to face, the boy lifted his hands. I flinched, "ooh, sorry I'm not going to hurt you, promise", He then lifted them past my head and up to my feet, untying the twine ropes that bound me. Rather gracefully, in my opinion, I landed on the ground. Immediately taking a few steps back. I looked to the boy, whom had remained where he let me down, who was watching with interest. "So, fox-san can you actually talk", I was abit talking aback by the question. Of course I can talk, I am kurama. Greatest of the tailed beasts, feared throughout the land. but for some reason I responded.
"Of course I can", with those words the boy looked even more interested. I am surprised the boy didn't run as soon as he had let me down, instead of staying and then furthering the conversation. Maybe he could be the one father, ahh fuck it. "What are you doing in this forest, humans know to stay out of it", as I had asked the question the boy looked relieved.
"Oh, I live here by myself. And I wouldn't know, sorry, but if you really want me to leave, if i'm not allowed to stay here, then...", seriously, the boy was now suggesting he would leave if I told him too. Maybe he is trying to trick me, and why would he live in the forest doesn't he have...like family to live with.
"You don't have a family to live with, and why are you here and not in a human settlement", now I was getting interested.
"...No I don't, I came here after my family were killed by ninja, and it is very hard to find a village that will take someone that is not there own", wow, that's quite a deal to have been through when you are so young. Now he may not understand many things the humans do, but how are they heartless enough to not let children sanctuary in there villages...huh he was feeling sorry for the child. How could he feel sorry for the boy, or maybe he should. The boy did talk to him, and with respect at that. Maybe he could give the boy a chance.
"Is that why you were trying to catch animals, to feed yourself", a nod of the head came his way, "um...I-I could find you some food", I said in a quiet voice enough for the boy to hear.
"Really, wow thanks so much. you would really do that for me fox-san!", huh, I kind of like this boy. He is actually talking to me.
"Yes", was the answer I gave him.
"Well, first, can I have your name fox-san. I mean if your going to do this for me then I should tell you mine, I'm Naruto Nara, so can I have yours...please", wow...he asked for my name. The first human in a long time to ask for his name, and on top of that asked politely. Well who am I to refu~ WHAT I'm the greatest tailed beast there is, feared throughout th~
"Kurama", I responded. For some reason I trusted this boy enough to give him my name.
"Well, it's very nice to meet you Kurama", responded the boy chipperly. What have I got myself into...

Huh, yea. Heavily inspired by 'Letters to Monsters'. Anyway I will expand on this later
If you want to know, what I'm thinking is that he will grow in nature, and grow to become strong. Not too strong but with his intellect he can outclass even those stronger than him. He will pass his will on to his two students later down the line...I bet you can guess who.
Also, I think it is obvious that this is in the warring-clan era, just so you know.
