"So, why do you want to become a hunter?"
Rimuru was, to be honest, not expecting that. "Well... I don't really, I just heard of the hunter exam, and how it varies every year and is very difficult. You can also get this thing called a 'hunter license' if you pass the exam, so there's also a bonus for passing. I figured it'd be fun (easy) so I decided to try it out, there's nothing to lose, right?"
...was his response.
Now that shocked them. The young girl running next to them spoke as if 1) she knew nothing about the Hunter exam, 2) it is easy for her, 3) she isn't taking it for the hunter license! She doesn't even look older than Gon and Killua, and yet she doesn't look like she is losing stamina or energy or getting tired at all. But then again, Gon and Killua are just running along enjoying it too.
Wait... she's... not running? Gon was sure she was running just a second ago. Now she's... floating along. Really, that's the closest to what she's doing. The blue-haired beauty's feet were not touching the floor in any way, yet she was just floating along like a solid ghost. But the impressive thing is, she was going at the exact speed as the rest of the group (Gon, Killua, Leorio, Kurapika), and when they sped up or slowed down, she changed her speed accordingly. Or more like her speed automatically changed accordingly.
"Oi-" Leorio started.
Then the group of five spotted some other peculiar people.
One, which was surfing- without a surfboard- on a mini-wave, apparently formed out of the water running through the sewer. He looked like he was... controlling the water to carry him on the wave? He looked about the same age as Gon, Killua, and Rimuru, had messy jet black hair, and charming sea green eyes. He had an orange shirt on, with something on it. He was going at about the same speed as the examiner.
There was a second interesting boy, and he was riding on a broomstick. Seriously, what?? It was real, right in front of their eyes.
A boy, yet again looking the same age as the other four twelve-year-olds (really, what is up with all the lolis participating in the Hunter exam this year?!), in a black what looked like wizard robe with some this and thats on it, was one hundred percent riding on a cool-looking broomstick.
That means, flying in the air, speeding along. Really fast. He was definitely going faster than the examiner but slowed down once he caught up with the examinees at the front.
That wizard boy looked small but agile and fast for his age, with a skinny body. He also had jet black hair, but with bright vibrant green eyes and a cute face. He had a strange lightning bolt-shaped scar on his forehead, but did a good job on hiding it, though definitely not a good job in not standing out and getting looks and stares.
Suddenly, both black-haired look-alikes stimultaniously noticed Rimuru and Gon's group, and slowed down, ending up going at the same speed as the running/skateboarding/flying group, surfing/flying next to them.
""Hi!"" they both greeted. By now, a lot of eyes were on the strange group with an adult-looking teen, seemingly endless-stamina green haired boy, a member of the Kurta clan (unknown to them), a rather scary-looking silver-haired assassin, a platinum blue-haired beauty just floating (literally) along, and two black-haired kids who looked rather similar to each other, one surfing surfboard-less on a mini-wave formed from sewer water and the other flying on a broomstick.
"Hi!" Rimuru greeted back. They acted like they'd known each other for a long time. Gon, Kurapika, Leorio, and Killua were just staring at them like they were the odd one(s) out, which they practically are.
Rimuru continued. "Oh, you must be that... Harr- Harold Potter?" he said to the black-haired wizard with the lightning bolt scar.
"Ah... its Harry, how did you know?" Harry said, confused as to how this foreign-looking girl knew he was Harry. Of course, he was not known as the Boy Who Lived over here, otherwise everybody would've been swarming him right now.
"Well... Let's just say, you had a whole book and movie series written/made about you, who knows why or how. Make sense?" Rimuru summarized.
"I guess it does. Who are you?" Harry asked his look-alike surfing next to him.
"Percy Jackson, nice to meet you." Percy responded.
"Nice to meet you too. Percy, huh..." Rimuru muttered the last part.
But Percy heard. "Don't tell me they made a book and movie series based on me, too?" Percy said with a completely hilarious expression on his face.
"Hmm, maybe?" Rimuru doesn't remember.
"OI!" Leorio interrupted their light conversation.
"Hm?" Rimuru and the two boys looked to Leorio.
"Where are you going with that light chitty-chatty of yours? And what do you guys (girls?) think you're doing, aren't you cheating by not going on foot?" Leorio exclaimed, directing the last part at Killua, who was skateboarding, Rimuru, Harry, and Percy.
"Leorio, this is not a test of stamina. And that's not cheating. The examiner only told us to follow him. Plus, we're all only twelve, no?" Gon was almost sure Rimuru, Harry, and Percy were twelve. Killua'd already told him he's 12 years old, but little did anyone know Rimuru was actually ? years old. Heck, even Rimuru had given up trying to determine how long he'd existed.
""""Fine, I'll run,"""" Killua, Rimuru, Harry, and Percy all said at the same time, then dismounted their ride (or in Rimuru's case, just smoothly landed running at the same pace) and started running.
"Aa..." Leorio was kinda speechless. At this, they were trying to hold back giggles, with the four used-to-be not running failing to stifle their laughter.
"Oh hey, you ready for a race up some (a lot of) stairs? There's a giant flight of stairs up ahead," Rimuru suddenly told them.
"What? There's no stairs ahead." Everyone besides Percy looked forward, but no one but Percy could see any sign of stairs, nor tell by the echo if there were stairs ahead. Even Gon. Actually, Percy can tell there are stairs ahead from the way the water was blocked a few miles ahead.
"Yes, I can see (not) it." Rimuru responded. 'see' is the closest he can get, because he doubted they'll understand quickly if he tried to explain Universal Sense to them.
"Then why can't we?" Kurapika countered. "But then again, we're underground, so it would make sense if there were stairs back up to the surface..." he continued.
They ended the conversation there and ran a bit faster.
After an hour, the rest of the examinees, including Gon, Killua, Kurapika, Leorio, Harry, and Percy, spotted a big and long flight of stairs ahead. They all looked at Rimuru.
"""How did you know?"""
By the time they reached the foot of the stairs, Rimuru was laughing his head off.
