Hello, guys, I'm back; with my fourth Sonic fanfiction so far.

Yes, I'm only doing it for the pun.

And besides, you love imagining Rouge in action, don't you?

Alright, here's my story. Enjoy!

It was a very disturbing day at a certain military complex's headquarters.

The president of G.U.N. was walking down a hallway, looking extremely nervous.

He was heading down to the room of his most skilled hacker.

The reason?

Just 10 minutes prior to this, a bewildered conversation took place in his office.

He was in the middle of his usual business - doing paperwork, making boring phone calls, etc. - when all of a sudden:

BAM!

Somebody came crashing into G.U.N.'s president's office, without a warning or knocking or anything.

He was just standing there, a couple of meters in front of the president, panting, looking like he had just discovered a major piece of information.

"David?" the president spoke first.

"Sir..." David spoke, panicking, still breathless, "it's happened!"

"What has happened?" the president asked, in mild confusion.

"Somebody stole the Chaos Emerald!" David hopelessly replied.

And this was what got G.U.N.'s president up on his feet. It would already be worrying enough if David, one of his many employees, had told him that a Chaos Emerald got stolen. But even worse than that - it was the Chaos Emerald! The president knew exactly what this meant.

G.U.N., aside from all the stuff that the very acronym would imply, also owned a federal bank. But their reserve in there wasn't money! No, what this vicious organization kept there was stuff they - or at least their president - deemed much more valuable than money!

It contained numerous magical artifacts, lots of unordinary weapons, and similar gadgets that G.U.N.'s president had obtained enough knowledge of, over the years, to be aware that their power might, in fact, be greater than that of money.

And one of those artifacts was - a Chaos Emerald!

In that bank, the president only had one said emerald, but he had travelled enough around the world, hearing weird legends in the process, about how there were no less than seven of those emeralds!

Naturally, he had the desire to track down the other six Chaos Emeralds, but that way, he would've risked losing the one he already had, whilst not getting any of the other ones.

But now - he heard that the one Chaos Emerald that he did have - was stolen anyway!

And of course, this got him worried beyond the edge!

"How far ha-" he began, but David interrupted him:

"Everyone already knows!"

The president didn't hesitate for even one second. He immediately exited his office, knowing exactly where to go to.

So, now he was heading to a certain other room in this building. He knew exactly what he wanted to do, and even who to look for.

He was going to the hackers' room!

He was going to try and track down the lost Chaos Emerald in any way possible!

He immediately went up to the two hackers that were located in there, and angrily spoke:

"Hey!"

"Yeah?" one of them replied, in a tone that indicated he too knew what had happened.

"Find that Chaos Emerald RIGHT NOW!" the president yelled.

"Already on it, sir," the other hacker replied, showing to their boss that they were, in fact, working on this job way before he entered the room.

But this was where strange things began happening.

Because there were some strange signals detected, from some random house. On the opposite end of the Capital City from where G.U.N.'s bank was. Basically in the middle of nowhere.

The president was, of course, confused, but he didn't have the time to show that on his face. Rather:

"Thank you, guys," he said to his hackers and went out the room, instantly making a very important phone call.

Meanwhile, in the house that was shown on the radar, everything was calm.

The house's one resident was completely unsuspecting of everything - at least for now.

Rouge the Bat was sitting in her soap-filled bathtub, with no clothes on, with her eyes deeply closed, fully relaxed.

It was no surprise that tracking down a stolen piece of jewelry would lead to Rouge's house - but the bat herself would indeed be surprised if she found out that a well-reputed military organization discovered that she stole a Chaos Emerald.

Because she didn't.

The signals that were detected here were of all other kinds of jewelry in her, so to say, "possession". She was - but not in the classical sense of it - a treasure hunter. The "treasure" meaning every diamond, every necklace or ring, any piece of gold or even silver - anything that she would even lay her eyes on, and was visibly worth at least close to a fortune - which is, after all, how she was able to afford this very house that she was taking a bath in.

But in many of the instances that she acquired these pieces of fortune, she fell into a trap or got caught by the jewelry's original owners. And yet, she had no trouble getting out of that discomforting situation in any of those instances.

Because, one, she was good-looking. But really very, very good-looking.

And two, because looks alone aren't enough, she, very fortunately, also had a way of pursuing the fortune's owners to just lend that worth over to her. To just let her have it.

And no, not by getting "intimate" with them.

In fact, she didn't even need to do that!

No, her ways of persuading the owners to hand their possession over to her were much more clever than that. Either by actually fighting them off (for those who wouldn't fall for her looks-related trap) or by using her looks to distract them while she got hold of the valuable possession - in the end, she would always get what she came for.

This played out a little different, though.

As Rouge was just sitting peacefully in her bathtub, her mind having drifted elsewhere - a sudden crashing noise was heard!

Rouge snapped from her thoughts, suddenly feeling concerned. Because somebody - more than one person, in fact - broke into her house!

She gasped! She was never this unprepared for, well, anything! If she knew she would suddenly have to fight off a lot of people at once, she would have no problem preparing herself for that. But not like this! Not in the middle of her having a time just for herself!

But still, she had to try her best to defeat these people - if, of course, that's what she would have to do.

And just then, as she was grabbing a towel to cover herself - somebody barged into the bathroom!

The moment that the man - a fully armed and equipped man - saw her, he pointed a gun at her!

Rouge didn't hesitate, though. She used the one hand of hers that was free to punch the man in the face before he even had a chance to shoot. Additionally, the moment the man fell to the ground, the bat pushed the gun away from him with her foot, just in case.

Next thing she did - still only covered with the towel, since she had no time at all to put her clothes on - she walked out of the bathroom. But not in a panicking matter, or trying to hide or anything - just walking.

When she entered her living room, that's when she saw it! A bunch of armed guys, just like the one she had fought moments ago, with their guns out pointing everywhere, visibly searching for something - none of which had noticed her entering. Just yet.

The moment Rouge saw this many men inside her house, she became gravely worried - obviously, out of fear they might take all of her precious jewelry away - but she successfully managed not to show it on her face.

"So far nothing, guys," one of the armed men spoke to the rest of the group, walking just close to the door of the room where, unknowingly to him, the bat kept all of her possessions.

Finally:

"How can I help you, boys?" Rouge finally spoke - and as everybody heard that, they all turned around and instantly pointed their guns at her!

The bat did not, in fact, inherently have a way of getting out of this specific kind of situation, and yet, she didn't feel worried.

"That won't be necessary," she continued, with a slightly risen seductive tone in her voice, approaching the man just closest to her, and sensually putting her fingers on his gun, eventually getting it in her own hands without the use of force - and tossing it away.

"So why are you here?" she then asked all of the men.

One of them, who seemed like the leader of this unit that rampaged her house, stepped forward.

"You know very damn well why we're here," he answered.

Instead of naively giving away the fact that she had more than just a glimpse of how these men had surrounded her, Rouge gave a confused look.

"Not rea-"

"You stole a Chaos Emerald!" the leader interrupted her.

And Rouge figured out that it was now that it was time to, kind of, give herself away.

"Oh, I wish I had..." she responded.

With this statement of the bat's, the unit leader reacted with confusion and realization at the same time. Because, even if this bat woman may not have gotten her hands on what they were looking for, she very much had the desire to do so.

But he was still suspicious. This may have been a trick laid by this very attractive woman, who still only had a towel on herself, to make him fall into some sort of trap.

So he didn't believe her yet. Instead, he began looking around the living room, checking for something that might just look like a trap. Eventually, he laid his eyes on the aforementioned door behind him.

It still couldn't be seen on Rouge's face, but now she became genuinely concerned.

"What am I gonna find behind that door?" the man asked strictly.

But the bat still didn't give in.

"I don't know," she responded, still a glimpse of sensuality in her voice, "what are you going to find behind that door?"

But the unit leader neither had the time, nor felt like playing these kind of games. Not wanting to risk getting potentially killed by whatever might have been inside - he shot at the doorknob.

Nothing happened.

The other soldiers looked at each other, and then the leader furiously went inside - which was when he finally saw all that the bat kept for herself!

"Well, you look at that..." he admired this valuable collection out loud.

Now Rouge was trapped! With no way out! With some men still pointing their guns at her! There was no way she could make up a justifiable explanation for how she obtained all that!

Or at least, that would become her main concern - if not for the fact that, unlike the initial reaction upon seeing the pile of treasure, the unit leader's feeling about this discovery changed drastically!

Because all this treasure, diamonds, gold, jewels, and whatnot was all there, in enormous amounts - but the one thing they were looking for - was not!

"It's not here," he spoke peevishly, and then he repeated, more angrily: "IT'S NOT HERE!" - after which his look switched to Rouge.

Anger was still in the air. It was all so obvious, it made perfect sense that their Chaos Emerald was here, but it wasn't. All this was for nothing. And now he, and his whole unit, would have to find a way to inhibit this woman from suing the-

"Wait a minute!" he exclaimed out loud, suddenly having developed an interesting idea.

"Sir-" one of his men began, about to ask whether to shoot her down.

"No!" the unit leader cut him immediately, knowing what he was gonna ask, since the whole unit had already been trained well enough together.

Rouge was still concerned about what these guys might do to her next, until:

"What's your name?" the leader asked the bat.

Rouge was genuinely confused by this question.

"Excuse me?"

"What is your name?" the leader repeated the question.

For a moment, the bat was lingering to answer that question. Eventually, though:

"Rouge."

"Well, Rouge..." the unit leader spoke to her, "it seems like we're after the same thing." And in the same tone of voice, he asked her a question that made all of his men turn their heads toward him in mass confusion. "Would you like to help us find it?"

The bat's response to that question was basically her way of saying yes.

"Can I put my clothes on first?"

Merely one hour later, G.U.N.'s president was heading back to his office, holding a cup of coffee in his hand. Feeling no less concerned than he was earlier.

As he was approaching his office, he encountered David again.

"Did you find it?" David asked.

"No," the president said sadly.

"What do you mean, no?" David responded in confusion, as the two were entering the president's office. "Wasn't it on the radar?"

"That wasn't it," the president explained, as he sat back next to his desk. "We did find tons of other... stuff... and I would be amused under any other circumstances... but that wasn't it."

"Well, damn," David responded, not knowing what else to say. "How are we gonna find it now?"

The president sighed. "I don't know... All I ca-" but then:

"I can help you with that," was heard from no other than up above them. Both David and, with even more concern, the president looked upwards - and saw someone. A female bat, hanging upside down - now with clothes on.

G.U.N.'s president stared at this woman with sheer confusion, wondering what the hell is going on before anything else.

"And you are...?" he asked her, carefully.

"Oh," Rouge started, as she flew downwards slowly, landing perfectly to sit on the one free seat in the office, with her legs already crossed. "I'm Rouge the Bat," she continued, all the while holding her strategically sweet, seductive voice. "And you must be the one whose boys rampaged my house."

The president looked at her, slightly unnerved, not sure where she was going with this, while David thought about assuming a fighting pose, but decided not to.

The president did consider directly asking this bat whether she was the one who stole the Chaos Emerald, but that would've been to straightforward, too obvious, and would give her plenty of room for lying.

Instead:

"Look," he began, "unless you're here for something useful, I wou-"

"Oh, sir," Rouge interrupted him , in the same way as before, "we're looking for the same thing."

This was when the president and David looked at each other in confusion. Not wanting to explicitly assert the object's name, the organization's chief man exclaimed:

"You can help us find it?" hoping this suggestion wouldn't be a shallow one.

Rouge just smiled.

"Very much so," she answered.

The president and David looked at each other with a look of confirmation, after which the president stretched his hand, willing to shake hers, and added:

"Welcome to G.U.N."

Less than 15 minutes later, Rouge was on her mission to find this Chaos Emerald.

To repeat once more - on her mission.

Not the one G.U.N. had assigned to her!

She definitely wasn't gonna hand this gem to anybody else once she finds it!

"I didn't think it would be that easy," she thought to herself. "But oh well, some men are just too easy to read."

As she was flying, several hundred meters above the grounds of the Capital City, her mind was already thinking up plans on what to do with the Chaos Emerald once she found it. Maybe she should go on a vacation; she deserved it, no? But where? Just about anywhere, actually. She could've done it plenty of times by now, but now, soon after this, it would feel just about right.

"But where is that emerald...?" she suddenly wondered.

In order to be ecstatic about gaining the possession of the Chaos Emerald, she had to actually physically find it!

And if it wasn't in the bank where G.U.N. supposedly kept it, nor was it at her own place - where was it?

Who really stole it?

This was what Rouge was wondering as she arrived on top of the building that was G.U.N.'s bank and observed the panoramic view of the city. As she looked around, she saw nothing of significance, nothing that would indicate that there was anything going on that had something to do with any kind of gems.

"Huh... I guess I'll just go look somewhere e-"

But then she saw something. In the far distance, just over the mountain that the Capital City laid under, something shone green. In a way that all of the jewelry she had collected shone. Very magnificently.

Rouge looked at the light, not knowing the source of it, being weirded out by it for a very short moment - until she smiled.

"Well, you shiny little light," she spoke out loud, to boost her own confidence, "here I come."

The flight from the top of this building to the source of the light took around 10 minutes. It wasn't as close as it looked.

Rouge was getting closer and closer to the light, but not looking directly at it, in order not to get blinded by it. Surprisingly enough, despite the intensity of the light, which to her kept increasing as she was coming closer, she did not lose her focus even slightly.

The moment she flew over the mountain, she saw it! She saw what was the source of that shiny green light! Better yet, she knew what it was! It wasn't a Chaos Emerald, which she was assigned to find. No, this was something else, that she had heard fascinating stories about, very similar to the Chaos Emeralds, but much more powerful... much more significant. It was the Master Emerald! She knew this one was that much more valuable than the Chaos Emerald just from the fact that, unlike those, the Master Emerald that she was looking at was the only one in existence!

But there was a catch. One quite big catch.

There was somebody there. A red echidna. Just sitting and resting right next to the Master Emerald.

As Rouge was still in mid-air, she contemplated how she would take this grand emerald from this echidna. Yes, she could've used the same method as she did with everything else that she had gotten in her own hands. But considering the value of the Master Emerald, this time it might not be so easy.

So eventually, she arrived only a few meters away from the emerald, but still floating - because if she were to land, the sole sound of her making a step on the ground might wake him up, which would foil her plan.

Plan that basically only consisted of stealing the Master Emerald. While not having thought up a way to do it.

Looks like she was gonna have to fight him after all.

So she landed.

Immediately, the echidna woke up and instantly assumed fighting position. He turned his head right - and saw the bat.

"Who are you and what do you want?" the echidna furiously asked, attacking her right away, which was about the moment that Rouge realized that none of her other plans were going to work anyway.

So the two went in a fight. The echidna, whose knuckles turned out to be excessively strong, dominated the fight vastly. With a lot of punches everywhere around, the echidna effectively defeated Rouge.

"How can you do that?" Rouge tried cadging, in a desperate move, still keeping her soft voice. "How can you be so violent toward a lady?"

"Those kind of games don't work on me!" the echidna instantly replied, in a sharp tone of voice.

Then, they clashed again. Both of each one of them's forearm pressed tightly against those of their opponent's, they tried their best to set that one merciless punch towards each other.

But eventually, they repulsed from each other.

Both of them quickly got on their feet, and Rouge spoke first:

"Just let it go. You just don't know when to give up, do you?"

And the rest is history.

THE END
