'BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP'

Zane let out an exasperated groan as he threw his hand onto to the snooze button. With a sigh he attempted to wipe the sleep from eyes. Slowly he sat up and swung his legs out from under the sheets and onto the carpet. In a tired shuffle he made his way to the bathroom. Turning the shower on hot he removed his underwear and t-shirt and stepped under the warm water.

After he was dressed Zane went down the stairs thinking of breakfast. Rummaging through the fridge he found nothing that satisfied him. Looking through the cupboards his eyes landed on cocoa puffs. A smile came to his face as he grabbed the cereal box and some milk.

Fargo walked down the stairs in a t-shirt and sweat pants. He was happy to see the morning sun shine through the window as he put on his running shoes. He locked his front door as he took off on his usual route.

Runs were always a place he could escape. He loved not having to work or think or talk. He could just clear his mind and keep putting one foot in front of the other.

As he rounded a corner he felt a tight feeling in his chest. Suddenly he had a coughing fit and couldn't catch his breath. He grabbed his chest tightly, wheezing desperately for his lungs to open. He knew the feeling well and it sent shivers down his spine. He also knew he could do nothing for what was about to happen

Zane took the last bite of cereal as he took his bowl to the sink. The deliciously sugary breakfast cereal gave him good memories of his childhood. He was happy with the chocalety taste left in his mouth for him to enjoy. He looked at the time and decided he'd get to work early. He looked around for his keys wondering where he'd put them the night before. He remembered where he'd thrown them as he went for the living room coffee table.

As he passed the window he glanced at the street with curiosity."I didn't know Fargo went on runs let alone excercised.", Zane thought to himself with a chuckle. He looked closer when he noticed Fargo had stopped and had a weird look on his face. He began coughing and grabbing his chest and throat. Zane didn't like the way he looked. Suddenly Fargo dropped to his knees with a hand on the ground in front of him. Zane immediately rushed out of the house.

"FARGO!", Zane yelled as he ran across the street. "What's going on! Are you alright?", he said slightly panicked.

"Chest...ahh..hurts...c-can't...breath...", stifled Fargo wide-eyed desperate for air.

Zane couldnt think of what to do or how to help.

"Forgot...i-inh-haler...", he said quieter than before as his eyes were drooping closed.

"Fargo you have to stay awake okay try to keep your eyes open!", said Zane as his panic grew.

"Can't...s-orry...". Fargos eyes slipped closed as he stopped attempting to intake breath and he fell to the ground.

"FARGO! FARGO!!", yelled Zane as he shook his friend.

He pulled out his PDA immediately as he called G.D..

"I have a medical emergency on Newton street! I-I think he's having an asthma attack...his chest was hurting and he couldn't breath then he passed out I dont think hes breathing just hurry!", said Zane as they both hung up.

Zane was knelt down next to Fargo who was frighteningly still. He heard the sirens getting closer as he was thankful they were so close to Global.

In an instant the ambulance pulled up and Zane stepped away to give the paramedics room. One of them was asking him questions and the others were putting an oxygen mask over Fargos mouth as they performed chest compressions. Before he knew it they were all hopping in the back of the ambulance headed very quickly for G.D.. Zane watched as the paramedics worked swiftly, calling out vital signs and hooking him up to things.

It was all a fast moving blur as he tried to ignore the words they said. "no pulse...not breathing...we need to get him to G.D. now!".

All of the sudden they were there as the paramedics wheeled the stretcher into G.D. headed for the elevator.

Zane now sat in the eerily quiet infirmary. Fargo was taken into another room. Maybe for surgery or tests, he wasn't sure.

He waited impatiently for two hours now without a word. By now Allison had been contacted who told everyone else the situation.

Zane hadn't thought to call anyone. The only thing he could focus on was the floor and the door he'd last seen Fargo go through. He wondered if it was the last time he'd ever see him again. From what he heard and saw, it seemed very possible.

Zane hadn't even noticed when one by one Allison, Jack, Jo, and Henry arrived. They asked him questions he tried his best to answer.

Suddenly a worn out looking doctor came in through the door Zane had seen Fargo and the bussel of doctors and nurses go through. The doctor walked towards the group knowing who they were there for considering the only other patient there was someone with a migrain.

"Dr. Johnson. How is he?", asked Allison.

"Well it was close. He suffered a severe asthma attack leading to the closure of his lungs and inhibition of oxygen intake. He went without air for several minutes causing respiratory arrest. It left his lungs pretty weak allowing fluid to build causing pnemonia. He's stable now though and I see no reason why he shouldn't make a complete recovery.", said the doctor with a grin.

The group dropped their shoulders with relief.

"Where is he?", asked Zane.

"They're bringing him back out soon, you can see him then.", replied the doctor.

Soon enough Fargo was brought back into the main infirmary. Zane sat at his bedside. The others had stayed for two or three hours but left for home when they were sure Fargo was okay.

Zane held up his head with his arm that leaned on the bed side table. His eyes were involuntarily closing when he heard a cough. When he realized where it came from he immediately grabbed a cup of water giving it to Fargo. He gulped it down greedily.

"You okay?", asked Zane with a little worry.

"Yeah thank you. So what happened?", asked Fargo in a strained small voice as he tried hard to remember the days earlier events.

"I'll tell you the details later but basically you had an asthma attack and stopped breathing. It was close. You have pnemonia and...you really need to rest.", said Zane quietly.

"Fine by me im exhausted. ", replied Fargo. "And Zane...thanks.", said Fargo in a scratchy hourse voice as he let his head fall back to the pillow in exhaustion.

"Anytime buddy.", replied Zane with a smirk.
