Long ago, two races ruled over Earth.

Humans and monsters.

One day, war broke out between the two races.

After a long battle, the humans were victorious.

Seven powerful humans, with their potent power, sealed the monster underground with a powerful spell.

Years later… A conflict arose between the humans.

Some of them wanted to free the monster from their tomb, while others refused to do so.

This conflict eventually became so dreadful that another great war arose.

This war lasted much longer since the humans from this time learned a new type of power.

Eventually, the war ended, but this time with heavy casualties on both sides.

Two millennia later…

THE FAMILIAR OF SALVATION AND DAMNATION.

The town of Mt. Ebott is a place full of life and activity. The sun stands high in the sky as its rays of heat beat down upon the city. The trees dance around as the wind is howling. The birds can be heard singing a charming tune. The flowers bloom so beautifully, showing off their vibrant colors to counteract the dull greys of the city. Cars could be seen driving around town, stopping and honking at others. People and monsters of all kinds walking on the streets as they greet each other with pleasantries. All in all, a perfect peaceful city.

Well, as peaceful as it could get.

While most humans in the city at this point have already accepted monster kind, others around the world haven't had the chance to accept them entirely. Whether it is due to fear of repeating another great war, the clear discrimination against the monsters, or just plain hate against them; Overall, the political stance between the two races is uncertain. One wrong move from either side and another war might be on the horizon.

Speaking of political issues.

Today is the day that the peace treaty between the two races will be signed. Presidents and their ambassadors from all over the world will arrive in the city to participate in the signing of the treaty, and this might be the day where everything changes. This is the day that peace between them can finally be achieved.

This will be the day where everyone can move on from their past and look forward to the future.

In the neighborhood of Noblewisch, there is an out-of-place house where there is snow on top of the roof, despite it being in a summer morning. No one can explain this strange phenomenon. All the residents of that house could say is:

It's magic.

Speaking of magic, ever since the monsters have been released from the underground, magic particles began to spread all over the town, affecting everything around it. While they don't have any adverse or strange effects on the environment, for the most part, all human children and some adults have begun to manifest magic powers that come from their souls. Ever since the barrier has been put up by the seven powerful humans, magic has lost its use; thus, it has been neglected over time until it became nothing more than a fairy tale, a distant memory.

All humans who possess magic powers in their souls seem to divide into seven essential traits known to date. These traits are Perseverance, Justice, Kindness, Integrity, Patience, Bravery, and lastly, Determination.

For the most part, all humans seem to possess some of these traits into their souls. Some humans have a dominating characteristic, having only one color in their souls, while others have multiple dominating features giving their soul different colors. For example, a soul that has both Patience and Kindness would have their souls be both cyan and green, mixed in together. While a person that only has the dominating trait, Bravery will have their souls be pure orange. These traits could even affect their looks, such as their eyes and their hair.

But the one trait that isn't common among the population is Determination.

While all humans have some innate Determination stored in their souls, it isn't concentrated enough to manifest itself into the soul as a trait. There are only very few humans who possess Determination as a trait, and even then, it's almost always not the dominating trait. It is usually accompanied by another characteristic as well, one prime example being Determination and Perseverance. There is only one person in this town that has pure Determination as their dominating trait.

But we'll get to that soon.

The house itself, besides the out of place snow, is quite a homey place to live in. It is a two-story house with a balcony. The home has been upgraded ever since it was moved to the surface, adding in a few new doors, a railing for the staircase, and an extra room for the new occupant living in it.

In the newly renovated room is a figure, wrapped around in a sky blue blanket, sleeping peacefully in the bed. The room itself isn't much to look at. Other than an exciting poster of a humanoid robot, dancing on the dance floor with disco lights, the room itself is very standard with hazel painted walls, a desk right beside the bed, a closet near the entrance of the door as well as a bathroom on the opposite side of the wardrobe.

The figure shuffled around the bed for a few moments before finally opening the blanket, revealing a 15-year-old boy with fair pale skin and brown hair that falls to his chin. He wears a blue shirt with pink stripes, and brown shorts.

The teenager opened his eyes, which revealed their brown eyes to the room. The boy rubbed his eyes to clear any dust that had gathered from his night of rest. He leaves the bed and stretches his limbs out to make them nimble and ready to be used for the day ahead of him. He goes to the bathroom to take a quick shower to freshen up before heading downstairs, now wearing a black suit with a red tie, long black pants and black shoes as well, resembling a business person.

Before leaving his room, his mind reminded him that he forgot something. He goes to the desk, opens the drawer, and grabs a gold heart-shaped locket with a strange symbol imprinted on it. The logo is formed by an orb between two wings and three triangles underneath it (the middle triangle is inverted). The boy smiled at the trinket before wearing it and tucking it into his suit, hidden from plain sight and leaving his room.

Once he arrives downstairs, he is greeted by the two oddest characters in the house. Well, strange by typical standards, anyway. There are two skeletons in the house. The first skeleton has a skull that is more straight and geometrical in shape than your standard skull. He wears an apron that covers most of his chest armor piece, which is a white breastplate with gold trimming along the edges with an odd symbol on its left side.

Standing behind him is a second, much shorter, skeleton. He's wearing a blue hoodie, a white t-shirt, black shorts, and white slippers. His facial expression is one of amusement as he has his typical perpetual grin, clearly amused by the situation in front of him.

The situation is that the tall skeleton is holding out a sock that has an extensive collection of stick-it notes pinned to it.

"YOU KNOW, 'WHAT' BROTHER!" The tall skeleton roars out, clearly unamused by this problem. "THIS IS THE LAST TIME I AM PUTTING UP WITH YOU LEAVING YOUR SOCKS IN THE KITCHEN!"

"Jeez, bro, aren't you being a bit loud? Maybe you should…" The small skeleton closes his right eye, still grinning. "…put a sock in it?"

The tall skeleton's look of anger turns to one of frustration, his eyes nearly popping out of his skull, but a smile is on his face regardless.

"SAAAAAANS!" he roars out of frustration over the bad pun.

"What? You're smiling," Sans replies, his usual grin present, and his younger brother can tell it was filled with amusement.

"I KNOW, AND I HATE IT!" the tall skeleton snapps back. He then notices the offending article of clothing in his red gloved hand again and prepares to go off on another rant when a voice interrupts him.

"Good morning, Papyrus!" The teenager calls out happily from the staircase as he makes his way to the two arguing skeleton brothers.

"OH! GOOD MORNING FRISK. I HOPE I DIDN'T WAKE YOU UP FROM YOUR SLUMBER." Papyrus flashes an apologetic smile towards the young boy before turning his gaze back to his lazy brother on the couch. "IT'S JUST SANS CAN'T TAKE CARE OF HIS OWN CLOTHING. WOULD YOU BELIEVE I FOUND HIS SOCK IN THE FOOD MUSEUM? HOW DISGRACEFUL! THE FOOD MUSEUM IS FOR SPAGHETTI AND FOOD, SANS, NOT CLOTHING!" the taller skeleton says, sounding offended while glaring at Sans, who just grins back.

Frisk smiles and chuckles. "Yes, yes, I would, Papyrus," he says in a friendly voice. The young boy then looks at Sans and smiles again. "Good morning, Sans."

"Morning, Buddy. How'd ya sleep?" The chubby skeleton asks cheerfully.

"Great, thanks!" Frisk responds cheerfully before giving him a nervous smile. "Just kinda worried about today's peace treaty signage. I hope everything goes well."

Sans only shrugs before ruffling Frisk's hair to calm him down. "Relax, kid; you'll do fine. Besides, you've done more amazing things than just signing some boring papers; you'll do great out there. There is no one else that can be just as great of an ambassador as you, kid."

Frisk gives a genuine smile at the gesture, appreciating the fact that Sans made an effort to calm him down before the big day. After all, it's not every day that a 15-year-old is an ambassador for an entire race. Sure while Asgore, the king of monsters, mostly handles the paperwork, Frisk would occasionally lead speech campaigns in an effort to convince the people in this town that monsters aren't something to be afraid of and should just be treated as equals.

And this might be no different as he would just do another lengthy speech about convincing humans again, but this time on a global scale. Hopefully, he can stay calm enough to deliver it. But while he is here at the house, he might as well act like a 15-year-old kid.

"Hey, Papyrus…" He turns to look at the taller skeleton. "…How do skeletons talk long distance?"

The other skeleton frowns. "HMM, HOW DO THEY I WONDER…" The skeleton's frown deepens, and he raises a hand to his chin, scratching it as he thought. Frisk just giggles.

"It's easy. They talk by tele-bone." The brown-haired boy says a smile on his face. Papyrus clenches his jaw, and Sans barks out a laugh. He then gives Frisk a wink.

"Nice one, kid. Although I honestly thought it was going to be a more humerus one than that." The short skeleton adds. Papyrus looks positively irritated, but a grin was on his face nonetheless, despite his clenched jaw. He glances at the clock on the wall and spins around to face Frisk.

"ENOUGH BOONDOGGLING AND TERRIBLE JOKES, SANS. FRISK NEEDS TO PREPARE FOR THE SPEECH TODAY!" The taller skeleton suddenly turns and rushes back into the kitchen. "I'VE PREPARED YOUR LUNCH, FRISK, AS YOU'LL PROBABLY BE STARVING AFTER THE LONG SPEECH! I'M SURE YOU'LL LOVE IT!" the skeleton declares as he charges out the kitchen with a lunch box. He places it firmly in Frisk's hands and takes a step back, a proud grin on his face. The human opens the box…

…to find it filled with spaghetti.

"YOU SHOULD FEEL HONOURED THAT I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS, DECIDED TO MAKE YOU LUNCH HUMAN! NYEH HEH HEH HEH HEH HEH!" Papyrus declares, flamboyantly placing a hand on his chest, feeling proud of his cooking skills. "NOW, ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS WAIT FOR ASGORE'S CLONE TO COME AND PICK YOU UP-"

The sound of a doorbell rang across the room, interrupting Papyrus from his dialogue. "OH, IT MUST BE HER ALREADY!" He quickly strides to the front door and opens it with vigor. "GOOD MORNING, ASGORE'S CLONE. HERE TO PICK UP FRISK ALREADY?!"

Soft laughter can be heard from the door before the guest enters the living room. "Yes, I have come here to pick up Frisk. And please, call me Toriel."

Toriel is an anthropomorphic goat with white fur, droopy ears, and short horns. She has a pair of visible fangs and long eyelashes, and her irises have a dark red tint. She is wearing a purple business shirt with a white undershirt, yellow tie, black pants, and black shoes. She gives a comforting smile at the young boy, who was fiddling with the lunch that was given to him to prepare for the long exhausting journey that is politics.

"Are you ready, my child?" She asks in a gentle tone, not wanting him to worry any more than he already is.

Although Frisk is nervous about this peace treaty signage, he can't help but feel excited as this is the day that will finally give the monsters the chance to put the past behind them and look forward to the future. He manages to give back a smile and a nod to his adoptive mother.

"Wonderful, my child. Now, it's best we get going." She turns back to the skeleton brothers. "Thank you once again for taking care of Frisk. I do appreciate it." She bows to them, which earns an embarrassed blush from Papyrus while Sans just grins.

"NO PROBLEM, ASGORE-I MEAN, MISS TORIEL. IT IS OUR PLEASURE TO HOUSE THE LITTLE HUMAN. AFTER ALL, NO BABYSITTER IS GREATER THAN THE GREAT PAPYRUS. NYEH HEH HEH HEH HEH HEH!" Papyrus boasts as he holds his chin up and thumps his fist on his chest with pride.

"Eh, I got to practice jokes with him, so it was cool." Sans shrugs off the gratitude. "Speaking of, why are skeletons so calm?"

"Why are they calm, Sans?" Toriel asks, brimming with excitement as it had been a while since she had last heard of a joke from her comedian in a while. Papyrus's face pales as he isn't looking forward to another joke about skeletons. Frisk just waits with anticipation.

"Because nothing gets under OUR SKIN."

Toriel howls with laughter as she rolls across on the floor, while Frisk simply smiles at the joke. Papyrus, on the other hand…

"SANS! THEY HAVE A VERY IMPORTANT MEETING THAT THEY HAVE TO GET TO AND YOU ARE SITTING THERE, WASTING THEIR TIME WITH YOUR TERRIBLE PUNS!. THAT'S IT, I'M GOING TO GROUND YOU IN YOUR ROOM." Papyrus walks over to Sans, picks him up, and throws him over his shoulder, marching towards his brother's room.

"Aw, come on, Pap, they enjoyed it. Besides, you can't ground me. I'm already a skeleton!"

Papyrus's scream of agony can be heard from the second floor as his brother's jokes were too much to handle at this point. Toriel is still rolling on the floor laughing while Frisk smiles. It has been a while since his mother managed to relax and enjoy herself since she and Asgore took care of the political side of things, being the ex-queen and current king of monsters. Not to mention the fact that she runs a school for both humans and monsters where they can learn how to harness magic from their souls. She never really had the time to relax and take a break every now and then, making her very stressed. Sans seems to notice this and cracked a joke for her to relieve her stress, which worked wonders on her.

After a few moments, Toriel manages to get up and recompose herself, but with a bright smile on her face. "Sorry about that, my child. I guess I got carried away again."

Frisk shakes his head and gives her a thumbs-up, saying it was ok, and he didn't mind at all.

"Alright, my child. Let's get going now." She lends her paw to the boy, which he gladly takes and walks out of the house with her, hand in hand.

Toriel and Frisk walk through the streets of the town, attracting the attention of both humans and monsters. The monsters approach Frisk and give their thanks and appreciation for fighting to protect them. Frisk simply accepts their gratitude with a smile and moves on. The humans, on the other hand, approach both Frisk and Toriel. The little ones approach the goat monster, thanking her for being their teacher and helping them learn how to use magic. The former queen blushes and chats with them.

Meanwhile, some of the other children go to Frisk and ask about his adventures on the underground, mainly on how he made it through. He tells them about his experiences with meeting Toriel, the skeleton brothers, the royal guards, including Undyne, meeting with the royal scientist and meeting the superstar of the monsters, and meeting the king of the underground. However, he leaves out details on how he had to fight through them and how he died several times throughout his journey so that he doesn't scare the kids off.

Frisk and Toriel leave a while later, telling the children that they have a crucial meeting to attend to. This news saddens the children, but Toriel promises them she'll tell more stories when her classes start back up again, and she will bring Frisk with her as well. The children are delighted and wave them off goodbye, telling the duo that they hope to see each other again.

Toriel and Frisk eventually reach the town hall where the meeting would be held and the peace treaty would be signed. The building itself is quite tall, about five stories high with many windows spanning throughout the building. It is an intimidating sight for Frisk, at least. He can see dozens of people, locals and foreigners, entering the building without a care in the world. Journalists and news reporters are interrogating the people around there, their cameras already recording live for the event that will happen very soon.

Frisk is now a bit more nervous than he thought. After all, he won't be just speaking to the entire town; he would be speaking to the world as a whole. The fate of monsters rests now on his shoulders, and he can't help but fear the outcome of this event. If the peace treaty ends in failure, then all hope is lost, and it might spark the second human-monster war, and he can bet 10000g that it will not end with the monsters being sealed again, but rather their extinction.

"Frisk, are you alright?"

Frisk manages to regain his senses as he stares at the concerned gaze of his adoptive mother. It seems that she knew that something was wrong with and was trying to find out what or at least comfort him. Frisk smiles at her and tells her he was just nervous about this meeting.

Toriel nods in understanding. After all, this meeting will either make or break everything they work hard for. Five years of preparing this moment could go down in flames in an instant if they aren't careful.

"Do not worry, my child; I'm sure everything will be alright. I know you are the ambassador for monster-kind, but you don't have to shoulder these responsibilities alone. At least let Asgore and I help you ease your burden."

Her words touch Frisk's heart. It's as if all the burden that was placed on him was lifted, at least to some extent. He feels like he can breathe a little easier, knowing that he can rely on them for guidance and at least an outlet for him, just in case things get too much for him.

And he's thankful that his mother was able to talk about Asgore in a civilized manner. Ever since they had left the underground and made their debut here in Ebott city, Asgore and Toriel haven't been on the best terms with each other. Asgore was wallowing in his self-guilt due to his actions in the past, which Toriel hated, while she has kept all that anger and rage for his crimes. It had gotten so bad that even mentioning his name would cause Toriel to either snap or glare at the person.

But at some point, with the help of the skeleton brothers, they had managed to salvage what relationship they had with each other. And while they are not together anymore or will ever be, they are at least in speaking terms with each other. And they can even rely on each other should things go awry.

Frisk goes ahead and hugs Toriel tightly. She's surprised by this event but returns the hug as she rubs Frisk's back, making him relax in the process as well. A few moments later, they separate, and Toriel notices the improvement of Frisk's demeanor. She's happy that she managed to do something for her child.

"Come on now; we can't keep them waiting for long."

Despite the outside of the building looking a bit small, the meeting room itself was far larger than Frisk could have imagined. Humans and monsters are already seated in rows by their respective races. Toriel and Frisk make their way to the front of the seats and meet up with Asgore, King of monsters, Undyne, Captain of the Royal Guard, and a police officer for the Ebott Police Department.

Asgore, like Toriel, is an anthropomorphic goat. He has broad shoulders, a bulky body, a golden blond mane/beard, and two large curved horns. His current outfit is a suit of armor, a purple cape with golden pauldrons, and a crown on top of his head.

Undyne is a piscine, anthropomorphic monster. Blue scales cover her body, and she has red and blue fins on the sides of her head. She wears a red eye shadow and has an eyepatch on her left eye. Her eyes have black vertical pupils and yellow sclera, and her hair is tied in a long red ponytail. She is smiling, showing her sharp, yellow, protruding teeth. Her outfit for this occasion is her battle armor, varying in light and dark shades of gray.

"Heya, punk! You ready to give your speech about how AWESOME monsters are and we should totally have peace with the other humans as well?" Undyne blurts out as she grabs Frisk in a headlock and rubs his head with her scaly hands. Frisk manages to escape the grab a few seconds later, courtesy of Undyne's training on the surface.

Even when the Royal Guard was all but inactive due to the lack of threats from the humans, Undyne still kept up her training regimen along with the other Royal Guards as well. She even forced Frisk to join with her and Papyrus for their daily training. And ever since then, Frisk is a lot stronger than he used to be. He managed to master his soul power completely; he has more HP, attack, and defense than before. And he even has a very fit body underneath his own suit.

Frisk nods happily before taking his seat beside Asgore, while Toriel sits beside Frisk as well, making the two goat monsters glance at each other for a few moments before looking back at the stage, where an older adult human begins his speech.

"Greeting, everyone. My name is Mr. Andrew Stewart, the spokesperson for the United Nations. We shall now begin this meeting for the peace treaty."

It has been almost two hours since the meeting has begun, and Frisk has yet to be called on to the stage for his speech, and he is getting sleepy from all this waiting. When the meeting had begun, Andrew didn't talk about the peace treaty between humans and monsters. Instead, the topic was about the trading of different resources from the monsters and talking about the technology that they possess.

It was quite sketchy at first that they would talk about something like that without even talking about peace. It is as if they were planning to take advantage of the monsters once this treaty is signed, which did worry Frisk as he didn't want the humans to take complete advantage of the monster's willingness for peace. Thankfully, Andrew did clear up that misunderstanding that it will be an equal trade among them and that they will not be taken advantage of. Unfortunately, one person didn't really think so.

[You'll see Frisk. Soon the humans will make them slaves somehow, and there will be nothing we can do about it.]

The person speaking was the first fallen human and adoptive child of the Dreemurr family. The demon that comes when people call its name, Chara Dreemurr.

Chara's appearance is similar to Frisk as she also has medium-length brown hair. But the main difference is that she has a much lighter skin tone than Frisk, she has rosy pink cheeks, she wears a green shirt with one white stripe across it. She wears brown pants and shoes. And in contrast to Frisk's brown eyes, hers is a striking crimson red.

"Come on, Chara; I'm pretty sure they won't do that. Why would they try to take advantage of the monsters when all we want is peace between us? I'm sure that's what's in everyone's best interest."

Despite Chara being in front of everyone in the front seats, only Frisk can see her as Chara is dead. The only reason he can see her is because her spirit latched onto Frisk's soul since they both have the DETERMINATION trait on their souls, allowing Chara to persist even if her soul was shattered due to her failed attempt to free the monsters.

[Ha! Even after fighting against me and dying a million times, you always still try to see the best in them. They always have ulterior motives, and I can tell they aren't good ones.]

Frisk rolled his eyes, and before he could reply, Andrew grabbed the attention of the entire room.

"Alright, everyone, now that we have finished discussing security matters, it is time for the peace treaty to be signed."

People can be heard murmuring about the topic, some saying that they should get on with it, while others outright refused to let the treaty be signed and stated that the monsters should just die off instead. That particular comment hurts Frisk a lot more than it should. It meant that he didn't do a good job convincing the people to not hate the monsters in its entirety, while it makes Chara's nonexistent blood boil as she rants about killing everyone in this room and the rest of humanity or something like that. Frisk just tunes her out as he focuses on the speech ahead.

"Before we can get started, though, the leaders of several countries who are here today have the same questions that needed to be answered." Andrew pulls out a piece of paper and begins to read it. "As far as we are aware, the barrier was created by seven humans who wielded powerful magic at that time. And as history tells us, monsters are inherently weaker than humans, stating here that in the war, humans were so powerful that only a few humans died in the war while half of the populations of monsters were wiped out. So the question is, how did you manage to break the barrier that was created by humans over two thousand years ago?"

Asgore, who is in the stands currently, stiffens at the question, as do several monsters in the room, including Frisk himself. Andrew is right; the barrier was mighty, capable of withstanding nuclear bombs without any side effects to the ones on the other side. And if monsters are weaker than humans, then how would they be able to break the barrier? Frisk knows the answer, as does Asgore and the rest of the monster-kind.

The humans aren't going to like the answer one bit, and this could potentially ruin this treaty entirely.

"I used the souls of the humans who fell from the surface world. I can't exactly remember how long ago each one of them fell, but I remember all of them being children." Asgore states his own crimes with a solemn look in his eyes.

Every human gasps at the revelation. They are shocked that the king of monsters just admitted to murdering children just to break the barrier. Slurs and curse words are being thrown at the monster by the more vocal side of the humans as they now have fuel to try and finally justify getting rid of the monsters once and for all.

The monsters can only bow their heads in shame as they take the humans' words. After all, to be responsible for the death of six humans, children no less, is something that they can't forget, try as they might. The shame their action brought upon their entire race is immeasurable.

Andrew struggles to get the meeting back on track. He tells the humans to calm down and at least listen first before making the harsh judgment. This doesn't work very as only a few humans listen and quiet down. In contrast, others continue to rant on, even going as far as to attempt to assault one of the monsters. Those who try end up being forced out of the building by security.

After that little display, everyone manages to calm down enough so Andrew can continue with his questioning. "Asgore, you have confessed to committing multiple counts of murder. While it may have been in the intrests of your people, no human takes kindly to the murder of children. A separate trial would determine the legal action against you, but you could very likely end up spending the rest of your life in prison. Will you take responsibility for the crimes that you have committed?"

Asgore can only nod in response. "As long as you do not condemn the rest of my people for my crimes, I will take any punishment you will give me."

Many of the monsters and a small number of the humans feel saddened by the fact that the liberator of an entire race is being condemned for doing what he thought was right. The monsters didn't ask to be trapped underground, and they never wanted to start another war. All they ever wanted was to be free, like everyone else, and have peace.

Still, though, most of the humans in this room don't feel the same way. In fact, many of them still believe that they should just kill all the monsters or just send them back to the mountain from whence they came from. Frisk is practically shaking from the negativity that the humans are emanating. He can feel the hate and the rage from every human pointed directly at the monsters. It's taking all of Frisk's DETERMINATION to prevent Chara from taking over his body so that she doesn't kill everyone in the room.

[FRISK! LET ME TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR BODY SO I CAN TRULY SHOW THEM WHAT A MONSTER REALLY LOOKS LIKE!]

Frisk can feel the intense malice seeping through his soul to force his control out of him, but he will not budge. He can't afford to let go. Otherwise, it will be another genocide route, but on a massive scale.

"Chara! Calm down. You can't kill any of them, remember?! I know the situation looks bad, but please don't do it! I made a promise not to RESET anymore and-"

[I DON'T CARE ABOUT ABOUT SOME MEASLY PROMISE YOU MADE TO THE TRASHBAG, JUST LET ME GO AND MURDER THEM ALL!]

Frisk still refuses to budge, feeling his body twitch uncontrollably as Chara attempts to force her control unto Frisk to fulfill her desires. Unfortunately for her, Frisk desires to just fix this world with peace and love, not violence, and he will do what he must to make his desires come true.

"ENOUGH CHARA!" His mental voice manages to shock Chara out of her hate-filled rage, Chara, allowing Frisk to continue. "Look, it's hard, okay? It's tough. It's overwhelming. It's insane. And there is a chance that we might go to another war again, I get it. But do you honestly think that we can just kill everybody and that'll solve our problems? No. I will not resort to senseless violence if it does not solve our problems, nor will I RESET should things do wrong. I made a promise to Sans not to RESET anymore, and I'll keep it. I will deal with the consequences of my actions.

"I will do everything in my power to resolve this peacefully, so don't worry about me; I'll give everything I got to make sure we don't have another war. So please, let me do this and don't kill anyone, okay?"

Frisk hopes that at least Chara would try to see reason. Even in her clouded mindset of "all humans are evil, kill them", Frisk allows Chara to accompany him to the surface even after the 1,156,362,870[1] deaths she is responsible for because he believes that everyone deserves a second chance. Everyone can become a better person if they just try.

Frisk managed to receive San's forgiveness after swearing never to RESET again. If he can be forgiven for slaying the entire monster race, then he can forgive Chara for murdering him so many times over. For this reason, Frisk's made it his duty to show Chara that not all humans are bad. Just like monsters, they can be good and kind.

Chara can only click her tongue as she looks away from him. [Fine. Whatever. If you want to keep that meaningless promise, I won't stop you. It doesn't matter anyway; you'll RESET soon enough.] And with those parting words, Chara disappears into nothingness.

Frisk wants to call out to her as he still has something to say, but that would have to wait as another voice captures his attention.

"Frisk Dreemurr, you are the self-proclaimed ambassador for the monster race, correct?"

Frisk nods at the question as he rises from his chair and walks towards one of the empty stands. He gives Asgore a smile as he passes by before coming to a stop at the stand.

"It says here that you are an orphan from the Ebott's orphanage of Hopes and Dreams, is that correct?"

Again, Frisk nods at the question, wondering where Andrew is going with this.

"Right, I will spare you with the complicated details as you are far too young and inexperienced for such things." Andrew rereads the paper before continuing. "My question to you is, do you have anything to say in Asgore's defense? What can you tell us about this "king of monsters" since you know him longer than any of us have? Your opinion on the matter may help us come to a decision on this treaty."

Frisk nervously gulps as he stares at the audience of both humans and monsters. The monsters are looking at him with desperation and hope in their eyes while the majority of the humans are looking at him with pity and disgust. Frisk can guess why, but he puts the thoughts out of his mind. He will go through with this speech and hopefully bring an end to this debate.

"Asgore… has done a lot of things that he regretted," Frisk begins slowly. "The murder of six humans was one of them, and while I disagree with the methods he's used in breaking the barrier, this doesn't make him a bad person as a whole.

"All he wanted was for his people to have hope, to look forward to something in the future. We all do. Isn't that the reason why we fought in two great wars over the last century, to have a better future for humankind? Just as humans have dreams of a better world for us to live in, monsters too have that same dream, so who are we to deny of that same dream?"

"Because they're monsters!" someone from the human side shouts.

"They killed our precious children!" cries another.

Andrew calls for order as security officers move to closer to ensure that no more violence occurs.

Frisk takes a deep breath as he feels himself shaking from anxiety, gripping the stands as his SOUL flails out of control, causing his eyes to change a myriad of rainbow colors from green to purple to orange and every color in between. Eventually, he calms down enough to release his grip and his SOUL returns to normal, his eyes regaining their normal brown color. With a determined expression, he continues on.

"What? Because Asgore killed six children, monster kind are suddenly unworthy of that dream? Well, let me ask you this question then: if you were to deny their peace because of those killings, shouldn't we deprive ourselves of peace as well because of the millions of people we brutally killed in the two great wars we had? Should we arrest the ones who were responsible for that war and make sure they never have peace again? Would that be fair? Would that be right?"

Frisk can see some people nodding to his words, but many still look unconvinced.

"Child murders and child soldiers are a part of human history. Yes, we condemn it, but we've never committed genocide over the issue. We also can't call all children precious. After all, there are many children that are abandoned by their parents. Sometimes they're given to local governments, sometimes, orphanages, and sometimes, they are abandoned in the wild. Every child that died in the underground was a child that didn't have a family to begin with. If they hadn't been killed by Asgore, a wild animal would have killed them anyway."

"We can't blame the monsters for crimes we won't even judge ourselves for. When we leave children to die, we cannot blame the monsters for their deaths. When the greatest threat to humanity is ourselves, we shouldn't treat monsters as the ultimate evil. If we don't keep focusing on the horrors of the past and instead look to the brightness of the future, then why can't we do the same for monsters? We both want what's best for our races. I'm not asking you to forget the past; the past is just as important as our present and future. What I am asking is that we all look forward to a future when we can all smile brightly and hope for a better life.

"Isn't that what we all want? Isn't that why this treaty was even considered in the first place? All we want is to find where we belong in the world. And the monsters here have the same rights as we humans have. So please, I beg of you…

"Let's move forward together to a better future!"

Everyone in the room is speechless. The emotion that Frisk carries with his voice positively affects everyone. Most of the hate he felt from the humans is now gone and is replaced with contemplation and understanding; some of them even shed a few tears to the beautiful speech. While there are still some obvious dissenters, most of the humans look like they are on Frisk's side.

The monsters are filled with joy and happiness as they silently thank Frisk for forgiving them and their king for what they have done to his race. They secretly swear in their heart and soul that they will do and be better for him. And for their race.

Asgore sheds a few tears from that scene as the guilt he bore for so long has now been washed away by this human. And while he will never forget his crimes against humanity, he will do his best just like his people, to do better. And be better as a person.

Andrew has a contemplative look in his eyes as he stares at the various leaders of different countries, looking for confirmation. Leader by leader, the peace treaty is passed around. Many sign, but several do not. When the treaty makes it to Andrew, he examines it for a moment before clearing his throat to grab everyone's attention.

"It seems we, The United Nations, have reached a verdict," he announces. He places slides the paper under a projector, which displays the treaty on several large screens in the room. While the signing was not unanimous, there was an overwhelming majority of the world leaders who put their signature, more than enough to pass.

"This treaty declares at this moment that humans and monsters will no longer see each other as hostile creatures, but rather as allies." Andrew walks to Frisk to shake his hands with him before he walks over to Asgore and shakes his giant paw. "We look forward to an everlasting peace with you, King Asgore."

"Here's to five years of our freedom and hopefully peace to the foreseeable future!"

"CHEERS!"

Everyone clicks their glass together as they drink their respective beverages. After the peace treaty that was held this morning, Asgore wanted to have a celebratory party for the tremendous success of the peace treaty. Naturally, Frisk agreed to the idea, and the party was held at the skeleton brothers' house where Toriel, Asgore, Undyne, Alphys, Mettaton, Papyrus, Sans, and Frisk celebrated at.

Alphys is the current royal scientist who is a yellow, reptilian monster of similar height to Frisk. Her posture is somewhat hunched over. She has yellow scales, claws, and protruding teeth (which seem to vary between two and four depending on which way she faces). Her feet have three toes, while there are three fingers and a thumb on each of her hands. Her "hair" is designed into points facing the back of her head. Her current outfit is a white lab coat and round eyeglasses that don't reach her eyelashes.

Mettaton is a humanoid robot that was built by Dr. Alphys as a human-extermination unit but is now an entertainment robot for the fans of monsterkind and, more recently, humans who enjoyed the show.

Mettaton has black hair with a long fringe that falls over his right eye, pale "skin" and visible metal segments below and above his left eye. He has a pink chest piece, a narrow metallic waist with a box gimmick, and black shoulder guards above his segmented arms, which end in gloves. The chest piece has what appears to be a speaker and some knob or gauge, while the waist has two parts that seem to act as a locking mechanism that holds his "heart-shaped core," as they both lose white pixels during his "heart-to-heart" attack. His long black-clad legs end in pink high-heeled boots.

Frisk looks around his friends, smiling at the pleasant atmosphere the party has. He can see Asgore and Toriel having a proper conversation, Sans pissing off his brother with his puns, Undyne and Alphys having an intimate moment, the latter blushing like crazy, and Mettaton, who is busy on his phone, probably something about his show.

Ever since they had moved to the surface, it was always very tense. They were always unsure whether or not they could truly live in peace, but now that the treaty has been signed, Frisk can finally rest in peace, at least for now. He then turns around to see Chara, absently gazing on the stars on the window. Wanting to give her company, he walks towards her, food in his plate as he settles down on the window sill, gazing alongside her.

"It's a beautiful night here, isn't it?"

Chara seems to be content just staring, ignoring Frisk's comment altogether. Frisk doesn't mind as he also just wants to stare at the lovely sky, stars twinkling about as the moon shines brightly upon them. As they continue to stare for about 15 minutes, Chara finally decides to talk.

[Do you want to know why I despise humanity so much?]

Frisk is surprised at the question that she asked. In all of the times he has tried to get her to talk about her hatred against humanity, not once has she ever budged on the subject, just chucking it up to a "none of your business" spiel, which Frisk respected. Still, it's because of this fact that Frisk never had the chance to help Chara through her problems at all. But now, with this chance at hand, maybe he can finally get through to her and hopefully change her for the better. He nods, perhaps a bit too fast.

Clara chuckles at the energy her human friend is emanating. [Always eager to help people, huh? Well, I'll tell you now, you'll be disappointed. No one can help me from this, not even you.] Clara sighed before continuing. [Back when I was alive, before the two great wars happened, about, I don't know, thousand years ago? Give or take. Anyway, I was a part of this cult that apparently worships this being called "the player." Apparently, this "player" is supposed to fulfill the purpose of this world, whatever that meant.

The cult suggested that this "world" is a game that needed to be won by our "player." Those in the cult, myself included, are considered pure and right while the ones who don't are evil and will be killed by the "player." This cult was supported by the fact that since monsters only killed a few humans and never absorbed their souls, the cult believed that mankind's soul had been corrupted or something like that.]

Chara breathes deeply as her expression changes to one of frosty hatred. This isn't the same as her usual hatred, where she would be more emotional, lashing out very quickly. Here, the hostility seems to run cold; it is as if that it has been there ever since the beginning. It scares Frisk quite a bit, but at the same time, he looks at her with curiosity. Is this why she hates humanity so much, or is there something more?

Chara continues her story. [In the cult, your privileges are limited, stating that too much will make your "soul corrupted with greed, hatred" etcetera, etcetera. It bugged me at one point, and I even challenged the religion itself for being just plain stupid. But… when you do challenge their beliefs… they do something horrible to those non-believers. They "cleanse" their souls in front of everyone to see.] Chara shiveres at the atrocious memory she was reminiscing. Frisk looks at her with concern, wondering what happened to them.

Clara shrugs off his concern. [Don't worry about it, Frisk, it isn't important. Anyway, I misbehaved one day, and my parents decided to "cleanse" my soul the next day. Of course, I wouldn't let them do that to me, so when it became dawn that day, I left for the mountains and well, the rest is history, I'm sure you can put the pieces together already.]

Frisk could only think back to the encounter in the true lab where recordings of both Chara and Asriel, having fun together before plotting her own death to have Asriel absorb her soul to collect six more to break the barrier.

But of course, the plan backfired and caused both of them to die that day. Well, not precisely die, but their fates, worse than before. Asriel became a soulless flower, capable of SAVE and RESET due to its immense DETERMINATION.

Meanwhile, Chara's spirit latched on to Frisk the second he arrived at the underground, watching his every move. Every run he made, every time he made friends, every time he murdered them. All the EXP he gathered was thrown to Chara with every RESET until it became unbearable for her and decided to…

T̵̵̶̢̡͎ͪ͝͝͞a̢͈̍͢͝҉̨̛̕͝ḵ̛̛̉́̕͘͟͜͝ȩ̸̡̧̛̛̖͒́̕ ̴̵̢̢̢̡͕ͭ̕͢c̸̶̸̡̛̺̃̀̀̕o̶̷̷̠ͤ̀̕̕̕͝ņ̧̧͔͆̀͟͝͏̢ţ̴̧̡̛̱͒͠͏̛r̨͎͗͏̛̛̛̀̕͞ǫ̴̧̧̮̓͜͏̸͜l̵̻͆̀̕͢͟͞͝҉ ̸̷̡̧̡͖̾͘͜͡ơ̧̜ͭ̀̕̕͜͢͠f̸̶̷̢̨͍ͮ́͞͡ ̡̖ͨ͠҉̨̀̕͝͏h̸̴̨̢̠͐͝͞͞҉i̵̡̧̧̘͋͏̶̨͠m̸̢̨̡̛̗̅́͟͠.̸̷̢̱̿̀͘͜͝͡

Frisk shivers at the thought of the genocide run. Every time he struck them down, he could hear their cries echo through his mind as his partner egged him on to finish the job. He could feel the guilt of his soul weigh him down for every EXP he gained. It was to the point that even Sans of all people had to step up and "judge" them for their sins.

It was the worst time of his life, dying over and over again, losing count of each death until he managed to finally strike down the skeleton. When Frisk finally met Chara face to face, she wished for the destruction of the whole world and wanted to move on to the next. It made sense why she worded it that way since she believed that she "judged" all of humanity based on his actions alone.

Now it all made sense, considering her background, it's no wonder why she believed that she must end this world to be "cleansed" of all its sins. Frisk wants to say he was sorry for all the horrible things he had done to them, but Chara beat him to it, just not in the way he expected.

[Dont.] Chara looks at Frisk with her red eyes, staring right at him, hatred in her eyes before looking back at the stars. [Don't even think of apologizing to me. There is nothing to be sorry for; what's done is done. You killed the monsters; I killed you over and over; we are even. I don't wanna hear a half-assed apology from you. It's meaningless to me.]

[Saying sorry to me will not quell the hate in my SOUL. I will continue to keep this hate until the day I disappear from this world. But I also get it. Not all humans are bad and don't deserve to be treated like garbage, so at the very least, I'll… do my best not to judge every human as trash. After all, you managed to change me from a trashy human to a decent one at best. So… I'll do my best to move forward with you.] Chara turns again to Frisk with a brief smile on her face, shocking Frisk to see Chara smile for the first time since she showed herself to Frisk.

As Frisk was about to respond, a shrill shout interrupts that thought as he and Chara turn around to find Alphys in a compromising position with Undyne, the former being top of the latter, both of their faces bright red. Curious, he walks over to Papyrus, who is busy congratulating them on something.

"Hey Papyrus, did something happen?"

Papyrus looks at Frisk and is about to reply before Undyne gets off of Alphys and rushes towards Frisk and wraps him in her scaly arms, rubbing his head with her knuckles.

"What!? You weren't listening, punk!? I just proposed to Alphys, and she said yes. Didn't you hear the scream of joy back there, or were you still busy sky-gazing over there?" She asks, offended by the fact that Frisk didn't even react to the proposal that was a little louder than usual.

Frisk, subjected to one of Undyne's bone-crushing noogies, slips out of her grasp to avoid any more pain to his head. He glares at her, rubbing his head to soothe the pain. "Sorry, Undyne, just lost in my own thoughts is all."

Frisk shakes his head and smiles at her. "Congratulations on the proposal, though, I'll send postcards when you leave on your honeymoon." He grins at the now red-faced fish who is shaking in embarrassment and anger. She rushes towards him to give him another noogie, but this time Frisk evades the grab and runs away as fast as he could. Undone gives chase to the runt to give him a lesson on teasing her and Alphys like that.

"OH DEAR, IT LOOKS LIKE THOSE TWO ARE ROUGHHOUSING AGAIN. I BETTER GO WITH THEM TO MAKE SURE THEY DON'T BREAK ANYTHING VALUABLE… AGAIN," Papyrus states this to himself as he gives chase to the duo. Toriel and Asgore go to Alphys to congratulate them on their proposal, which causes her to blush even further while Mettaton goes over the moon as he begins to set up for their wedding with his connections from the show biz to set up the perfect wedding.

"GET BACK HERE, RUNT!" Undyne angrily declares as she launches dozens of cyan spears at the ambassador, which he dodges with grace and poise. He blows a raspberry at the royal guard, which provokes her to throw more spears at the kid with vigor. Papyrus can be seen, trying to catch up to the two.

"WAIT UP, PLEASE DON'T DESTROY THE HOUSE; IT TOOK US MONTHS JUST TO REBUILD IT AGAIN." Papyrus's plea falls on deaf ears though, as some of the spears have already been lodged in the ground, the fences, and even the snowy roof.

Overall, the atmosphere is the most pleasant it has been ever since the monsters were freed five years ago. And Frisk would like it to stay like this forever.

Midnight rolls around as the residents of the house are fast asleep. Undyne and Alphys are sprawled all over the couch, both wasted from their alcohol abuse. Toriel, Asgore, and Mettaton have already departed from the party early on. Sans, Papyrus, and Frisk have all retired to their rooms, exhausted from their activities at the party.

Chara is still wide awake at this time, hovering around the room as to contemplate her entire life.

The strange thing was that the first child felt content. Not overjoyed, but content. Living life alongside Frisk, being with Papyrus and Sans. It was nice. It reminded her of happy times.

Contrary to popular belief, Chara doesn't really hate monsters… mostly. There were those idiot skeletons, but they were the exception more than the rule. She just didn't care for monsters... again mostly... though this time the exceptions would be Toriel, Asgore, and Asriel, who she viewed as family.

The real problem she has, the ones she hates more than anything else, are the humans. She has deep scars upon her SOUL itself from her experiences with humans. Memories of the torment she had endured in the surface world before she threw herself from the mountain top in an attempt to end it all, only to find herself in the Underground among the monsters.

At one point in time, she had hated humans so much as to be willing to give her own life to see them all destroyed.

But after having been bound to Frisk for five years, not counting the million resets spent on killing each other, Chara was coming around to the idea that maybe, just maybe, not all humans were as selfish and cruel as she had once thought. Maybe their world didn't need to be destroyed.

It was unlikely, but still possible. And it was good enough for Chara to let Frisk stick around on the surface, not using the all but unstable power that they could wield together. And as long as this "peace" they have lasts until Frisk dies naturally, and her SOUL finally rests in peace, she would be... happy...ish.

Chara glances around when she notices Frisk suddenly sitting up in his bed. [Go back to sleep, it's only been a couple of hours. We still need to wake up early tomorrow for our daily training with Undyne. The last thing we needed right now is to be impaled because we were too sleepy to dodge a simple spear.] Chara states, giving Frisk one of her sideways smiles.

"Chara... you hear that?" Frisk asked slowly.

Chara blinked, wondering what Frisk was talking about, but then she heard something. Then she heard it again, and again. 'I, Loui..e Fra...oise Le Bl... de ... Vallière, in th.. n...e of the gr...t Five Pen...on Powers, foll...ing m.. fate, ...mon a f...liar.' She couldn't make out the words, but they were there. Then after about four repetitions, a sort of green bubble started to form in the corner of the room.

It starts as only a flicker but grows into an oval large enough for Frisk to walk through easily. A strange force of the SOUL was coming from the light.

Then, one final word passes through the air, clear and crisp, though soft as a feather. "Please..."

Without a word, Frisk gets up out of bed and went to his wardrobe to gather his blue coat that Sans gave him on Christmas, a red scarf made by Papyrus on the same day, and wore the red shoes that Mettaton gave him as a gift for helping her out during in one of her shows. He also goes to his drawer and grabs his dimensional phone, capable of calling anywhere and storing items.

[Hey! Where do you think you're going!? You have no idea what that thing is!] Chara shouts at Frisk; going through random portals was generally not such a bright idea.

Frisk looks back at Chara with a determined expression. "She is asking for help, Chara; I will not stand by and watch as someone cries out for help. I don't know why this portal appeared or where it will even take me, but even so, if someone cries for help, be it monster or human, I will go and help them no matter what." Frisk stares down against Chara, who was staring back at him with the same expression as him.

For a brief moment, Chara considers arguing back at him, considering the fact that glowing portals aren't the safest things in the world, but as she began to realize, her arguments would be futile. When Frisk has set his mind on something, almost nothing will stand in his way. After all, DETERMINATION has the power to push through any obstacle. Whether it is to save entire races or to destroy worlds, if you have a goal and you set your mind to it, as long as you have DETERMINATION, nothing will stand in your way.

"And besides, think of this as a new experience. This portal never appeared in any of our many runs in the underground so I'm pretty sure it will be an exciting new adventure for us." Frisk adds, breaking the stare with a smile on his face.

Chara rolls her eyes and sighs as she rubs her temple with agitation. [Fine whatever, just don't say I warned you if you die and RESET again.]

Chara didn't really care too much. They would just pop up somewhere in some unexplored part of the underground or some mysterious country and have a short little adventure. Might even be some 'fun' to be had if some of the monsters don't want to listen to Frisk's brand of reason.

So as Frisk beams at her and walks through the green portal with DETERMINATION, Chara was right by him... in spirit, of course.

ENTRY NO: 1

Ok, so this is my first entry I suppose.

My brother told me that it's fun writing stuff in a journal of sorts to keep track of your own thoughts.

Don't know if it's true or not but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to give it a shot.

So… I guess I have to write something here.

My name is B̶̶̡͉̊́͢͢͏̴̴̵̧̕̕͡͏̶̀̀̕̕͞͏͞҉̨́͘͠͏̵̡̛͜҉͘҉̸̢͏̵̶̢̨͡͏҉̶̷̛́ŗ̸̴̷̶̶̨̡̡̡̨̧̢̢̧̛̛̛̱̓̀́̀́́̀͘͜͟͠͡͡͏̵̨̛͢͠҉͏̶̴̵̸̨̢̡̛͘͢͢͝i̵̴̴̴̷̷̸̶̢̢̧̨̧̡̨̨͖̾̀̀́͘̕͘͟͠͠͏̶̵̴̴̸̢́͘͘͢͠͞͏̷̸̶̵̵̨́̕͘̕͢m̶̸̴̸̢̧̤̆̀́́̀͟͟͝͞͝͏̵̵̵̶̨̡̧̨̛̛̛̛̀́̕͜͢͜͠͡͏̵̛̛͟͞͝͏̷̴̶̡́͜i̴̛̛̝͂́́͟͞͞͠͏̛҉̸̷̷̸̴̸̴̴̷̶̶̷̨̡̡̢̨̡̢̡̨̛́̀̕̕̕̕͟͟͜͞͝͠͡͝͡͠r̵̴̛͎͗͜҉̸̵̸̢̨̨́̕͜͟͜͠͝͠͏̷̵̴̸̶̴̡̨̧̡̨̛́̕͘͟͜͢͢͜͟͟͜͟͠͠͝͠͞͞ and I'm in next line for the throne of my kingdom. Can't say it's name, otherwise people who might steal this journal of mine might try and capture me for ransom

Not good, not very good.

Anyway, my brother and I haven't unlocked our SOULS yet, which is quite frustrating to say the least for me. My brother doesn't seem to mind it too much though, just spending time outside his home with the kids while I spend my time alone in the room, preparing to rule the kingdom one day when the time is right.

I guess that's all I have to write for now. I'll probably won't write everyday, just occasionally and maybe when something major happens I guess…

See ya book.

A/N: This story is a tribute to Right and Left Hands by A Dyslexic Writer so please check out his original work. While the premise of the story is similar, the two Frisk's are completely different from each other, both coming from different timelines altogether so please check his story out as well.

You might be familiar with the power system here and Chara's backstory in this story, so if you can guess it right, I'll give you a cookie lol.

This story has been in the making for a while now, probably the reason why I haven't been updating my other long term stories yet. But they will be updated soon, don't worry. Just really liked this idea and couldn't get it out of my head.

Btw, this story is being beta'ed by the one and only RainEStar3. He makes Louise summon other crossover characters from other animes and stuff, so his input in this story will be a tremendous help as my knowledge in FOZ series is shaky at best. I'll let him say his peace.

RainEStar3:

Allo there, readers!

I don't often Beta due to a lack of time (college is a beast), but when cbustroyer showed me the draft of this story, I knew it would be worth every minute spent. I hope this intro chapter gave a good look as to this AU's mechanics. If you didn't catch everything, I'm sure your questions will be answered over the course of the story. Or you can shoot a review! As I like to say on my own stories, reviews are food for a writer's SOUL! (Seriously, though, review.)

Anyway, don't expect everyday updates to this fic. After all, this was done ages ago but my beta had some struggles in his classes so don't expect everyday updates. Maybe expect a few months? Who knows really. Anyway, Cya guys later Chow!
